Best Taekwondo Academy in the Northern VA area imo!! My kids began at a different dojang (school) but the other school was farther from home and had complicated schedules for parents with kids in two separate age groups. I didn’t know there could be drastic differences between schools, I thought all Taekwondo academies were more or less the same but let me tell you they are not.

Grandmaster Yi stands on a level of her own! She is a true professional and fully dedicated to her art form. Watching her teach is incredible. I highly recommend Yi Champions Taekwondo Academy! It’s simply the best.

When my daughter turned 4 years old, I enrolled her in Yi Champions Taekwondo Academy. The program proved to be exceptional, and she looked forward to attending every class. As the years went by, she not only developed her martial art skills but also honed her social abilities. Now, she is driven and inspired to achieve the esteemed rank of a black belt, just like her masters and grandmaster Yi.

However, our circumstances changed, and we had to move to a different location. Since then, we have diligently searched for a new dojang that matches the standards of this academy, but our efforts have not yet yielded a suitable match. We have explored dozens of options, but none have lived up to our expectations.

The program offered by grandmaster Yi is truly top-notch, offering Olympic-style Taekwondo that is world-class, specifically tailored for kids. The classes are thoughtfully divided based on students' belt ranks, enabling focused training in level-specific forms, kicks, and punches. Moreover, the students are instilled with valuable qualities of discipline and respect, which I believe are essential for their character development during their formative years.

This dojang stands out as one of the best, if not the absolute best, Taekwondo Academies in the northern VA area. Grandmaster Yi's teaching prowess is well-known in the Taekwondo community, and her impact as a great teacher is evident. Other masters in other TKD academies speak highly of grandmaster Yi when her name is mentioned in connection with my daughter's previous training.

I cannot say enough great things about Yi Champions TaeKwonDo Academy.

My husband and I signed our kids up here after being with another TKD for about 8 months. We were looking for more structure with an emphasis on learning and respecting the art. We can not be happier with the results.

Pros-
Grandmaster Yi is always present and involved.

They have multiple instructors and break the class in smaller groups so each color belt group can work on their techniques.

If a student is lacking form or needs help understanding something, Grandmaster Yi personally works with that student.

Classes are fun, but students are expected to give it their all, there's no slacking going on.

Respect is most important to Grandmaster Yi and her instructors- from students and parents, the caliber of attendees honor the art of TKD and each other.

The class is longer than other TKD studios. It gives ample time for warm ups, instruction, and cool down.

Our kids are growing stronger, physically and mentally.

Cons-
We should have signed up here first, but so glad our kids are there now.

Yi Champions Taekowndo Academy is the best academy in PWC.

Grand Master Yi and her assistants are great, they keep the children & teenagers motivated and checking on their progress individually.

There are many activities in this academy besides the classes to support the parents and students, likes: after school programs, summer/spring camp, movie nights, birthday party, etc.

Grand Master Yi is always there at the academy teaching, she is very organized with the schedule and flexible, and she has a great communication system to keep the parents updated. She keeps track on the progress of every students so they are not behind, there is a manual booklet for students to follow, also she has a home report chart designed for the students to check their progress in different areas (Discipline, Respect & Love, Self-Esteem, & Responsibility) and parents rate the chart weekly.

My son got a Black belt Dan 2 there and he is always self motivated to attend the classes.

I recommend this academy to everyone who will like to learn martial arts, improves physical strength, gain confidence and self esteem, discipline, and respect.

I am a red belt it takes two months to pass one exam. Grandmaster Yi teaches me to defend myself, respect others, be patient, and keep self-control. Confidence is important in taekwondo. I like learning from instructors and Grandmaster Yi.

Grandmaster Yi is the world champion and she is making this place the world class Taekwondo school. Grandmaster Yi is training her students to develop their leadership skills as most of them are becoming instructors of the school. They are amazing with kids. Both of my children have loved it, and had birthday parties at their request here.(starting at age 3). An after school program, including school pick up is available, as are summer camps.

Yi champion Tae Kwon do is very wonderful. They do an after-school program, week long camps, movie nights, and offer fun day Camps through out the year! Their champions team is pretty awesome to watch as well and quite the inspiration for all age groups. They have 11 belt levels before they get their black belts. The instructors and masters all work daily to try and help those willing to learn and listen to what they have to teach.

My son, Anthony age 7, has been practicing really hard for the past year and very focused in trying to become a master and goto the Olympics! It is quite a goal and everyone here is really working with him to reach his goal! They really have encouraged him and helped him maintain his focus which have shown not only in his skill in Tae Kwon Do, but in the home and school as well! We are very proud to have him at this school and looking forward to helping him continue with his goal!
