Great gym. I LOVE this place. There is a wide variety of equipment to use and it is a very clean location and the staff are top notch. Trainers are awesome and there is so much room for activities here lol. Great place to join.

Here, I get to workout at my own pace & that's important to me. Because I don't want anyone pressuring me to use machines that Im not familiar with or exercise that could make my body hurt. I have too many Physical Disabilities for that. I love the ease of checking myself in with phone number & fingerprint! I π that this location has a Spa/Jacuzzi to relax my body after a workout!!!ππ They also have a Sauna for those whom prefer that.

Only reason for 1 Star is because they are not a β24 hourβ gym as the name implies. They close from 12-4 am every day. I work swing shift so thatβs literally the timeframe I ALWAYS workout at. Super disappointed and planning on canceling my membership unless it goes back to being 24 hours

Just found out in addition to membership costs they charge a $54 annual fee per member. I don't know where that money goes because almost every elliptical is broken to where you can't adjust the angle or the display doesn't work. They do have lots of other machines and weights.

Not impressed so far... Just moved here and started coming to this gym. The first SEVEN machines I tried were broken. It really killed the workout and I spent so much time trying to find a working one. I told the girl at the front.. Hopefully they fix them.
The locker rooms are decent but small. No pool is a bummer and there's no turf or anything which is fine but that's what my old 24 had which I'll miss.
The staff hasn't greeted me at all or said bye.
Just not holding up to my usual 24 experience. Think it's time to try other gyms.

My review is specifically for the employee Taylor, he was efficient, honest and provided a solution to a problem that would have otherwise made me never do business here again. If we move near a 24 hr fitness again, I would clarify what the manager is contracting us into but wouldnβt run away from this club because in the end the employee took care of the customer.

Location is convenient and it's a larger gym, but that's about where the positives stop. Most equipment is very old and worn out and desperately needs update. For example, most of the free stride ellipticals wobble and rattle or thier displays don't work. There are like two in the whole gym that are worth getting on. Most of the other equipment is like that too. I've seen someone come in and vacuum, but the machines themselves don't appear to be dusted or wiped. So besides looking worn out, they're also filthy. The locker rooms are also generally dirty. Unfortunately West Olympia doesn't have many good 24hr gym options, and that's why this place still has members.

Was a member of this gym many, many years ago and again now, 2019. I have always found it to be clean and well maintained. The training staff, reception, etc all very friendly and professional. Best part currently for me is that it is way less busy than it used to be. So all the inaccurate reviews about it being gross and with rude staff, must be keeping people away, which is great for me. I come in, drop my kid at the kids club, which so far has always been well staffed, and then spend my hour to hour and half working out without any delay, having to wait for equipment. I never go into the locker room, so can't comment on that, but for me all locker rooms, or any other public place where people I don't know take care of personal hygiene, including toiletting, are disgusting. Hence the reason I don't use it. My daughter loves the kids club, and even asks to go on the 1-2 days I don't work out. Also of note, I reported to reception that I noticed a band was fraying on one of the machines and they immediately went out to assess and fix it. So overall a great fitness club and price for us is just right.

The location is convenient. The instructors are friendly and know what they're doing in the classes. The eqiupment is adequate, but they are not well-maintained. My biggest concern is that the locker rooms (at least the women's, not sure about the men's side) are disgusting and are not cleaned very well. I have talked to others who work put here and they have said the same thing. Many try to spend as little time in lockers as possible given how gross they are.

Management is very rude. Came in, was looking for a Guess Pass to check the gym out before I joined to see if it was a good fit, was greeted by the General Manager who's tone sound very uninterested and started just telling me about membership rates. Other than that, nothing too fancy gets the job done. Other Staff like receptionist is very friendly.

Great local gym, lots of cardio equipment and a variety of weight lifting options: machines, free weights, universal gym, etc. The whole place is spacious and everything is easy to access. My favorite place to lift. Very clean with helpful staff. Only one thing that could improve: more thick mats for stretching (they have plenty of thin, small ones), sometimes it's hard to find a spot to stretch.

One negative: Woman working the front desk during the graveyard shift eating mcdonalds and making the whole place smell like french fries. Other then that it's an amazing gym. Janitorial staff keeps it nice and clean. I attend during the graveyard so it's very slow, very little people don't have to wait for anything. The people that are there are all very friendly. Great environment, great equipment. Get your sweat on.

If you have children this place is not the best place. They've have multiple issues with head lice. The daycare is partially always closed. You are not compensated for the closure in which you pay monthly payment that is required for membership and child care. The gym is always under staff. And most of the equipment are broken.

This is a decent gym. It's rarely crowded, has every piece of equipment you could want, and the hours are great of course. They have everything from barbell power racks to stationary hand cycles for physical therapy. I've seen bodybuilders and the elderly working alongside each other here.
They are friendly here and the membership prices are reasonable but the flip side to that is that they try to sell you personal training and store products at every turn. I don't mind them being pushy if it keeps regular rates low but it does get annoying.
The big con here is that there's no wifi or recycling. I consider those to be necessities so each brings the score down a star to 3/5.

Go somewhere else if you want to go to a gym. They'll lock you into an extended contract that you can't cancel until it's completed and automatically switched to month-to-month. (Without any sort of notification). To top it off you can't close it unless you actually go to the store. Somehow they figured out how to make something as supposedly simple as a gym membership complicated.

Updated (Long Overdue)
I have to say they have really stepped up their game. The staff are still amazing, but what has changed is the condition of the gym.
They have added several cleaning stations and 90% of the time they actually have solution AND towels - if only we could get people to use them on occasion (especially since you're lucky if 1 in 5 of the men wash their hands after handling their equipment...food for thought). They have repaired most of the equipment that has sat neglected for months or years. The sauna has been repaired and ALMOST all of the showers work now on both sides (M/F).
Crowding is still an issue - you may find yourself waiting for equipment more so than other gyms (especially on the weight side), but you cannot fault them for being busy.
I would agree with some of the others about the clientele, but again you cannot really hold that against them...nor can you really escape it at any other gym.
Original Post
I have been going here for 3 years (Costco's 2yrs membership) and I am regretting buying the last membership. In the 3 years they replaced their treadmills, which is great as only half would work fully before. However if you use any weight machines you're likely in for an injury.
For 3yrs the same machines have frayed belts, loose pieces, failing accessories and have even caused me a slight tear in my rotator cuff (from a frayed belt slipping off). Their response was to put an "temporary out of order" on the machine for 3 days and all they did was put the broken belt back in the pulleys - using the same frayed belt. At last I checked 1/3 of the machines have frayed belts or off-center pulleys.....I imagine the belts can't be more than $100 (in fact I've checked), but they can't seem to be bothered.
The cable machines, which most time you will have to wait to use, have failing accessories - look at some of them and you will see how far the metal has stretched on the pieces. When one breaks, they don't replace it, they try a quick weld and if that fails they just pull it out of rotation.
The dry sauna has loose boards all over, and this past week I was in the sauna when someone sat down causing a board to slam against some poor man's finger.
As others have pointed out they also keep the gym WAY too hot (I guess to cut costs), it is so bad you will notice the few minutes the air turns on. I don't mind sweating but it gets very uncomfortable April-October and very humid. I don't know if it's to keep their employees comfortable, but it is not fun.
Last bit of info, which doesn't affect my rating as it's out of their control, is the locker room from 11am-6pm (mon-fri) is shoulder to shoulder. It's ok on the woman side as most women don't change in it anymore, however my husband is usually in the locker room longer than me, as he has to stand to the side and wait to get to his locker.
So if your looking simply for a treadmill this is your place (although their are cheaper alternatives...even buying your own), but if your looking for anything more than just free-weights, stay away and save yourself some money and pain (the bad kind).
If you don't believe this review go on a tour and check all I have said, I promise you will find this all for yourself if you check.

Kind of on the smaller side. I usually come later at night so there isn't any waiting for machines. It might be a problem during busier times. The aerobic machines (upright bikes and precor) are not well maintained some some are broken or only work sort of. The locker rooms are big but the showers are hit and miss as far as water temp goes and the locker room is kind of chilly so it makes for a painful experience. Considering there aren't a lot of gym options around it does the trick.

I don't know why everyone's complaining but this 24 Hour Fitness Active is a great place to workout. Bathroom is okay even though I would never shower there. Cardio machine is great! Workout area is great! Machines are not outdated. TV are flat-screened. I travel a lot and this is pretty good for just an 'Active' level gym.

They keep the gym way too hot! 73 degrees! The recommended temperature range for cardio and weight lifting areas according to the International Fitness Association and OSHA is between 65-68 degrees. Getting overheated does not mean you are burning more calories. If you can't push yourself as hard because you are overheated you are actually not getting a good workout. Also people stay on one machine for forever. Set after set. I have no idea what they are doing. Also they don't enforce the rule of not having all your stuff on the gym floor. Use a locker. I have seen people with a huge duffel bags, jackets, weight belts, chalk all over everything, and food. Some power lifter guy was eating a sandwich! Another was eating a salad. I don't want to smell food while I'm working out.

I have been a member at the Olympia location for years. There has been one machine that has been broken since last year and every time I ask eta of getting it fixed they say soon. Now the bathroom closest to workout area has a broken lock - so that is out of order - and has been for over a month. Not sure why it is taking so long but if it was the front door lock or lock to their merchandise - it would have been fixed that day. The last thing I will say is the cleanliness of the showers is deplorable. I was told they clean them every night but there is no way. There has been a used band-aid and soap bar sitting on top of one shower head since I have been a member. I even told the manager about it and was told it would be taken care of that night - that was 3 months ago. There is black mold on the shower curtains and two of the 5 showers have broken handles. I don't think they clean anything but the floor. The walls are disgusting. I have voiced my concerns to management but that has fallen of deaf ears. When it comes time to renew - if things are not maintained and cleaned - I will find another gym.

Called to cancel membership after moving. Was told i needed to walk in. Walked in. Was told I needed to call or wait for an hour for the manager. I've been a member here for over three years (as of 4/2014). The price is right (I've been buying the Costco two-year membership, which puts the monthly rate at $16 or so) and so is the location (for me). The machines (cardio, resistance) and free weights are all I need, although the joint can get crowded after 4pm on weekdays, meaning you often have to wait for a machine, find an alternative, or do without.
But maintenance is an ongoing problem. Machines get broken and stay that way for months, the locker rooms need better housekeeping, some TV monitors seem permanently broken (no attempt to repair or replace). The staff is friendly, though, and four or five of the trainers are excellent, if a bit pricey (although I wouldn't hire some of the other trainers to walk my dog).
Update on 2/8/2015: 24 Hour got bought by a new private equity firm in the last year, and the new owner (AEA Investments) jacked up the rates. For me, they've effectively doubled--the Costco 2-year membership is no longer available, and the one-year membership costs what the two-year deal did before. Most of the other gyms in the area now cost less. In spite of the new higher rates, the maintenance is no better--poor housekeeping in the locker room, machines broken or barely operable for months at a time. And the current manager, George, doesn't give a rip--he's on cruise control. (Managers don't stay long here--George is the fourth manager in the four years I've been using this gym). I understand this is a high-performing gym in the 24 Hour universe, which must be a function of location or an imbalance in the supply-and-demand equation--aside from a few of the trainers, there's nothing special about this gym. When my current membership gets closer to expiration in 12/2015, I'll be shopping around.

I like the gym, I feel it has lots of machines to choose from however the machines do not look clean, especially the ellipticals. Also if your a larger person like myself, the treadmills are HORRIBLE. You try to run and the belt slips forward (all of them do) and you almost fall off, and the impact of running is soooo loud. Anytime fitness had GREAT new treadmills I could actually run! the locker rooms are always clean, and the group classes are always packed but fun, they always try to squeeze you in (Renee is great). I took a personal training session from Elise and she was a DOLL. never once pressured me to buy and is always motivational when I see her I passing. one thing I wish they would offer is a ladies night once a week or month for free lift weights as its intimidating to go into the BRO-ZONE lol. Great gym I would deff. recommend, better than lacey ultimate fitness.

I took a 5 session class. I was told, I will be getting one free class and the 5 classes will be enough to get started and will not be required advanced class unless i want to. But, when I reached my 5th class, the trainer said this is your last class and he will not train me until I sign up for advanced class. When I said, I don't want to go for any advanced class, he was forcing me to take it. I suggest, don't go for any classes with them even if it is free, they are not a trainer, they are a sales person.
I would like to rate them with zero..

I have been a member for the past 2 years. While the monthly cost and proximity to my office was appealing, I have had repeated concerns about equipment and monitors not being repaired for extended periods, and the cleanliness of the men's locker room. This past Sunday, 12/8, 24 Hour Fitness hit a new low and I cancelled my membership. Not only was there a freely flowing broken pipe in the shower of the men's locker room (resulting in no hot water), but the locker room did not appear as if it had been cleaned for some time, and there was a pool of dirty water backed up above the surface of the floor drain in the central sink area. This dirtiness has been a recurring problem which does not seem to be addressed despite the fact the facility appears to be adequately staffed. I don't recommend this facility and I would not consider returning until management begins to adequately maintain the equipment and the facility, and meets minimum levels of hygiene and sanitation.
