Parking was terrible; it always seemed full. This forced me to leave.

Been going here for a few years because I live in the boonies and it's the closest gym.

Pros: well-appointed. Friendly staff.

Cons: parking is awful, both in terms of the layout of the lot and its capacity. As you'd expect, crowding is also an issue, and there are frequent group classes that make it worse. There have been multiple occasions where I couldnt get into the gym on my way home after work, and left angry. I stopped trying. They actually hire valets to help park during peak hours, so props to them for that, but who wants to turn their car over to be parked by a teenager to attempt a workout in a gym so crowded that it needs valets?

The gym also just got bought out by Bay Club, with the transition immediately introducing a credit card fee on my monthly dues and an awful app that I don't want to use but have to. Instead of just letting members use a fob or photo, they overengineered the QR code you use to log in to a degree I've hitherto only seen in corporate security settings: the code for your account changes every 45 seconds.

Today they stopped me on my way in to ask me to sign "just a basic agreement" which upon review was actually an arbitration agreement and release of liability -- for everything from theft to personal injury to death -- so all-inclusive that it's probably not legally enforceable. It even includes the heirs of those who sign.

The internet doesn't have good things to say about Bay Club, who apparently made Pro Club twice as expensive while cutting corners on service and maintenance. Today also marked first time I've ever seen the little color-coded water filter light turn red, so things are not looking good. Three stars for now. I'll update when they inevitably start turning the enshittification thumbscrews further.

Edit: I'm not actually sure how to reply to a reply here, but hello 425 management. Yes, I understand the security benefit of using an app with a constantly changing passcode. What I question is the tradeoff to me as your customer. I don't want to use the app. It is an inconvenience and worse experience for me.

Put in context of Bay Club's reputation and the changes I'm already seeing, I suspect that Bay Club cares more about collecting data and fees from everyone on-site than about the security of my person or belongings.

After all, your liability waiver would force members into arbitration in any scenario that could possibly arise from a non-member using the facilities (and really anything at all that could occur on-site, up to and including theft, injury, or death).

Do you really expect me to believe that Bay Club's practice of treating access to its rowing machines with the seriousness that Google treats access to its trade secrets is about protecting the change of clothes that I leave in my locker?

Nice equipment. Relaxing vibe.
Stair leading to pool need to be cleaned better/more often.
There should be a sign for steam room and sauna saying NO SHOES allowed.
Steam room especially, not always very clean.

Awful place! I have no idea what I am paying for. I was just kicked out of the gym because I couldn't sign in (it wasn't responding) in their new app and was asking for help manually. The lady at the gfront desk said she couldn't help me and that she couldn't let me in! Basically they just taking my money, but I am not allowed to workout!

Love 425 Fitness they waive my membership sign up fee for working at Microsoft which was a pleasant surprise. Many people complain about the price but I love the upscale feel versus 24 Hour Fitness or LA Fitness don't have to deal with any kind of Riff Raff always clean and everything always works. If I were to have any complaint it would be that they close early on Friday Saturday sunday. If 425 Fitness ran the same hours 7 days a week this place would be perfect

I feel truly comfortable here. I've been a member for several years. I only have one request, given that today is my second or third day without being able to enter the women-only section. It smells horrible, like sweat, and it's truly impossible to stay there. Would you suggest using deodorant? In fact, I've noticed that no one else is there except for one woman.

I am in the market to switch gyms from my current gym, and I decided to give 425 Fitness Redmond a try. First impression was..not an auspicious one. The front desk staff was a pair of teenagers that could not have cared less. They couldn’t even be bothered to give me a tour of the gym. I asked for a tour and their answer was “that will be $25”. They charged me twice, and said “it always does that, it will probably go away”. When I asked, “what if you double charged me?” He said “I am not sure, man”. After they charged me, they refused to give me a tour. So I just walked around and found things myself and had a brief workout.
As far as equipment, they have the same things every other gym has. Things were very clean, the music wasn’t too loud, nice water fountains, paper towels were stocked, the things you expect from every gym. So, I’m still looking for a new gym. Does not look like they are looking for new customers.

My husband and I were loyal members of 425 for over a year, had spent $800/month including personal training sessions. We eventually decided to leave after realizing it was simply overpriced. However, the cancellation has been frustrating and disrespectful.

They refused to refund our unused personal training sessions despite the real hardship in being able to use them. They also charged a final full monthly fee even though my account had been frozen for two months, during which I couldn’t use the gym at all.

Customer service line is useless. Reaching a manager is nearly impossible—calls go unanswered, promised callbacks never happen, emails bounce or go ignored, and even when someone (e.g., Martin) promised to take action, nothing was done.

After 6 calls and 4 emails, we’ve gotten nowhere. At this point, it’s clear they avoid communication entirely if it’s about cancellation. Potential new members should be aware—this may be the experience you face when trying to end your membership.

Update:
I got a phone call from 425 Fitness Redmond and they apologized for the response. Update the review since the concern has been addressed.

———————————————————————

425 Fitness Redmond sent out survey asking customers for their feedback. There was a question about why you wouldn’t recommend 425 Fitness to friends and I answered honestly that some of my friends thought the membership fee was too high. This is a reasonable feedback and I also saw people complaining about $130 around monthly membership fee on Reddit multiple times.

Surprisingly, I got a reply from the general manager Chanze Patterson who asked me to find another gym if I cannot afford the membership fee. Instead of trying to explain to me why they charge a relatively high membership fee and how it’s necessary to maintain their business, Chanze decided to humiliate their customer.

If you're really having trouble about listening to customer's real feedback, just don't send me that survey next time. Acting in such an unprofessional way doesn't make anyone feel better.

This gym plays loud music. That is the one thing that negatively impacts my experience here. Other than that, the gym is clean, bright, and has good temperature control and ventilation.
About the music:
It seems that management did make adjustments to the volume of the music, but it is still much louder than the music played at all other gyms that I have been to. I would like to listen to my own music, podcasts, or look at some workout videos, but to do that I need turn the volume much higher than I am used to, to overcome the loud music that is being played.
The loud music also takes away my focus on my thoughts.
I see most other members wearing their own headphones while working out at the gym. It is obvious that people like to listen to their own stuff, and not the music that is being forced on them.
The cardio machines are also very close to the speakers, and I have given up on listening to podcasts that I wanted to listen to while working out here, because it is too much mental work, and I did not want to damage my hearing.
One time I picked up a phone call from a friend, and she asked me if I was at a club. It tells you something about the music that they play and the volume that they were playing it at.
My workouts here would be much more enjoyable if I could listen to stuff that I enjoy, without having to constantly work against the intrusive noise.

The good things about this gym:
* it is not as crowded as 24 hour fitness and LA fitness
* It is clean and the gym looks nice
* Is surrounded by greenery, has a group fitness studio that is brighter and more expansive than the group fitness studios at other gyms. The environment makes working out here a nice experience. However, the intrusive music makes it less so.

Very disappointed with the professionalism of this gym. Today a kid was standing behind front desk with an employee (sales department?) short girl with brown hair (I am assuming this is his mom because he only talked to her) and this kid was also sitting at a desk unattended for a while, I felt very uncomfortable with this because that kid could get seriously injured with gym equipment. SO UNPROFESSIONAL! As a business owner myself kids should not be brought to work and left unattended, I am very disappointed.

I have used this gym for approximately 2 years now, the services and utilities are great, I am here now to share a story about policy.

Two weeks ago, on the date of my billing, I made an inquiry on pausing my membership for a month while I go on a work travel.

I was informed that because 425 fitness contracts it's financing department out to a third party vendor, the policies have changed around cancellations and pauses.

For me to pause my memebership while I travel, I would need to provide 30 days of notice before my billing date. Meaning, because my billing date is on the 28th of January, I would have needed to provide notice for my travels in Mid February to Mid March before December 29th.

Therefore, 3 weeks before travelling is not acceptable, what was required of me was closer to 7 weeks of notice before intention to pause.

The assistant manager gave me two business cards for me to call and file an appeal with this agency. I will file an appeal and update this review accordingly.

As it stands, I will be paying for gym services without having the ability to use those services because of company travel and work locations.

There are some additional details of pausing fees, cancellation fees ect.. I will provide an update as those fees as they are initiated.

**edit**
The facility, staff and experience for price are top notch! They have plenty to offer in terms of epuipment and scheduled classes. 425 Fitness does extremely well for the area of Redmond and Issaquah.

425 fitness used to be flexible with out of town people seeking to pause memberships, but because they have pursued a route similar to how an insurance agency operates, we are left to be in a situation of extraction and predatory membership services.

This is a great gym with a wide array of fitness options and amenities which should appeal to everyone from beginners to certified gym rats. Clean, lots of equipment, with friendly and knowledgeable staff.

The personal trainers are very professional and I can personally vouch for master trainer Catherine Kelly. I had a series of training sessions with her and she kicked my butt six ways to Sunday. In a good way, of course! She introduced me to a lot of new exercises and even found ways to make some old ones better, adding a new twist or otherwise making the exercise simultaneously harder and safer.

Highly recommended!

I absolutely do not recommend this gym. I have friends who go there who will be switching as well due to lack of any kind of customer service. I called to try and cancel my account back in January and apparently because I didn’t record my phone calls…. None of what I was told would happen trying to cancel my account actually happened and I was charged numerous times. I was even told that the front desk members had spoken with the manager and made sure I wouldn’t be charged further and then after I was charged again and spoke with the manager she said it wasn’t her problem and there was no proof of those conversations. The weird service you have to email as well to cancel was also lacking in basic customer service skills. Thankful to be at a new gym and won’t ever be returning here.

A Gym That Feels Like Home – 425 Has Set the Gold Standard

I’ve been to many gyms, but none quite like this one. From the moment you walk in, there’s an undeniable energy—a sense of belonging that’s rare to find. The equipment is top-tier and always in perfect condition, thanks to the meticulous care of Enrique. The facilities are spotless no matter the time of day, and even during peak hours, there’s always space to move, breathe, and push yourself.

The classes? Phenomenal. Each session is a burst of motivation, led by instructors who are not only skilled but genuinely approachable. The team goes above and beyond to keep you inspired all year long with creative challenges and events that make working out feel like a celebration of well-being.

What truly sets 425 apart, though, is the people. Tony greets you with a positivity that instantly lifts your day. Will, Jada, Abe, Ethan, and the entire crew embody what it means to build a community. Their warmth, encouragement, and consistency make this gym more than a fitness center—it’s a family.

To anyone searching for a gym that motivates the body and uplifts the spirit: look no further. 425 is the real deal. Thank you for making health and happiness go hand in hand.

Ive been coming here since 2023. I primarily use the pool and occasional cardio equipment. The price is affordable if you make a commitment to yourself to come at least 4 times a week or more, but everyones situation is different.

They always have towels available and are quick to fix any equipment that needs repair and it seems like they are constantly refreshing areas with new paint or deep cleaning when needed.

The staff are always friendly any time of the day!

If you want to have your own swim lane, early mornings or late at night are your best options and the pool is usually a nice warm temperature.

Thanks for keeping things looking great!

The gym is decent but definitely overpriced. One thing I hate the most is they don’t allow you to remove your shoes on the squatting/deadlift platform. I understand not allowing it elsewhere in the gym, but for squats and deadlifts any real lifter knows how important it is to remove any cushions. I’m not doing it because I enjoy keeping my dogs out, it’s to optimize my lift. Pretty ridiculous!

My responds to 425 : You did not ask me to send you the proof via email, but rather you asked me to come in PERSON even if I was in the HOSPITAL , trying for me to give up and ignore the issue. In fact, I did not allow you to take money from my bank account because it was the only way to prevent you from taking money from my GREDIT account. I sent you pictures of me while I was in the hospital with proof that I had frozen my account, and despite that,

You did not try to help me, but rather you tried for me to ignore the issue. It is sad that you are trying to take advantage of the opportunity to take money from a person who was between life and death, and you know very well that I froze my account, and despite all this, you took advantage of the opportunity of my illness, and you did not freeze my account, but rather you took advantage of the opportunity of my illness by taking money throughout the months that I spent in treatment. Your words are all lies. I will not forgive you for exploiting my illness because your game was smart and precise.

Hello Aziz,
We also tried to work with you. We did not receive a free request in the system - we asked that you forward the information to us that showed the confirmation so that we could rectify the account. That never happened. While speaking in person is sometimes preferable - if you couldn't come in because of the hospital then we could handle over email. But without having a freeze request or the confirmation of the freeze there is no refund that can be given. As it is - your payment method stopped working in October so the account was actually overdue - and is cancelled.

We do hope that your health returns and that you continue to be healthy.

Last year, I decided to join 425, and when I joined them, I had a heart attack, knowing that I suffer from heart disease, and I told t 425 fitness that, knowing that I had three heart surgeries between 2020 and 2024, and after joining 425, I had a heart attack, but it was mild.
After three weeks, I told 425 that I wanted to freeze my account because I had to go through Cardionvion and another procedure for afib ablution, When I tried to freeze my account for two to three months over the phone, they asked me to go there in person, and I actually went, and the receptionist told me that I had to freeze my account online, and she directed me by giving me information about my account number, etc., and I actually I did froze the account online , and I received a message saying that they would Freezing my account after ten days

I received a note saying that my account was frozen, but they did not freeze my account. Rather, they continued to take the whole amount of money directly from my account for three months without stopping. When I tried to call 425 from the hospital because I was still under medical observation, they asked me to come personally to 425 because they cannot solve problems over the phone. When I told them that I was in the hospital, the 425 manager told me that I had to come personally, and I told him that I was still in the hospital bed. I cannot -
He told me to come with someone and then return to the hospital. I told him that I am sick at the hospital RIGHT NOW and I cannot walk, and I sent them pictures of me while I was in the hospital, and he told me indirectly, “I DO NOT CARE,” that I should come personally. Then they stopped communicating with me

LAST month I had another serious heart surgery because my heart stoped twice when I was sleeping I sent a message to Chanze Patterson the General Manager asking her for work together to resolve the issue and got some refund - by the way she/ he knowing very well that I got charged when I freezed my account but instead of helping she closed my account then I do not get my money back was hoping if we can work together to resolve the issue keeping my membership and get 3 month's of refunding even I asked only half of the amount
The important thing is that I tried to find a solution but the general manager refused to negotiate, knowing that the 425 fitness stole my money when I was sick in the hospital when I froze my membership, but unfortunately she refused to negotiate and she/ he chutes me up refusing even to talk,

Here is my story with 425

I’ve been a member at 425 Fitness Redmond over 3 years, joining at first to enjoy the salt water pool on the weekends. There have been a number of renovations done this year. I feel that this facility is on a sure path to become a place that offers everything I’ve always wanted. Here are the top five reasons why it works for me.

1) The indoor salt water pool is a stand out feature. Swimming laps in the heated, mineral-rich saltwater is such a relaxing experience. The pool area is spacious and well-maintained. I especially love it on a sunny day, it’s like stepping into a mini-vacation, especially helpful after being on a long distance trip.

2) Culture of the team. The staff at the 425 Fitness are incredibly friendly and helpful. They offer a range of group fitness classes led by knowledgeable and motivating instructors, with passion and enthusiasm for fitness that is infectious.

3) Equipment. The gym floor is equipped with an impressive array of top-of-the-line cardio and strength training machines. I especially like the selection of free weights, which allows me to get a great muscle-building workout. The equipment is always clean and in great condition.

4) Cleanliness. The facility itself is beautiful, with lots of natural light and an open atmosphere. The locker rooms, gym area and the pool are well maintained.

5) Location. Conveniently located to get on and off 520, and right next to the bus stop. I’ve been experimenting with the before/after - work day schedule, and appreciate that the gym is “on the way”.

I also love recent changes that the management team has been putting in place, expanding class choices, adding kids club and having personal trainers that can tailor training routines to your needs. I travel a lot, and being on the road all the team has been a concern. With COVID spikes and cold/flu intermittent throughout the year, I need a solution that keeps me healthy, active and energized despite constant travel. My trainer (Caue M.) has found the right combination of stretching, muscle and overall stamina building that’s been incredibly helpful. After 6+ weeks of training not only do I see the results in terms of weight goals, but I also no longer have angst around travel. (For those of you thinking re:Invent, make a mental note!)

I realize that not everything is perfect, and the team has some work to do, as seen in other google reviews. What gives me confidence is that they are listening to the customers and making changes, as they go ahead and as the budget allows.

Yes, I do have a wish list!

1) Music. Let’s talk about adding Dua Lipa, Imagine Dragons, Maneskin and something a bit more tailored to your techno crowd. Happy to chat about it! (How about a playlist that your customers can create? ;) )

2) I’d love it if the owners consider a red light therapy room.

3) Equipment that helps with improving bone density, we live in a vitamin D deficiency climate, so options like power plates, or similar items might be worth considering.

Overall, I'm happy with 425 Fitness. The combination of the salt water pool, modern equipment, classes, and knowledgeable and friendly staff make it a neighborhood gym that is well on the way to becoming a neighborhood “gem”. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area!

Stay away from 425 Fitness! What a nightmare...

Was a member for a year, worst facility one can imagine. They wont have towels for several weeks due to out-of-order washing machine. A good chunk of equipment is generally malfunctioning. Most of the year the sauna and steam-room are out-of-order, and even if they are open the temperature is either hardly warm or scalding hot, I just stopped going. The shower rooms were closed for several months for remodeling and somehow came out even worse. The massage beds they advertise never work. If all that isn't bad enough, the management are scammers. I asked them to cancel my membership, they said it was done but I got charged the next month. I went in and spoke to the staff several times, and they assured me I would get reimbursed. I finally cancelled the membership myself, but was still charged the again the next month because they have a 30 day cancellation policy. I have had to block them on my credit card.

Disappointing gym with important services and areas down for weeks at a time. The pool, women's steam sauna, towel service all go unavailable on a rotating basis. The women's steam sauna smells permanently like mildew - so gross. The hot tubs are often frothing with chemicals and make my eyes sting. Some days they're ok. I don't know why they can't keep it consistently balanced. The cardio equipment and weights are ok, but I preferred the equipment at la fitness which is 1/3 the price. I wish there were other gyms to choose from.

My wife and I have been coming to this gym for a couple of months. I’ve been personally training with Clayton and I cannot say enough great things about this experience. He’d knowledgeable, relaxed, and encouraging. I’ve already seen notable results, as has my wife.

The staff is always very friendly and attentive and the gym is always very clean.

Very happy we picked 425.

idk why my previous review isn't showing up :((( but i love this gym so so much. i want to add a few things to the review: 1) i don't really like how basically only 5 people at a time can use the pool :( but i do think it's awesome that there are two heated therapy pools, and there's a sauna. 2) there are SO many nice and convenient things in the women's bathroom (and men's? i don't know), but i really wish there were pads/tampons. a few times now, i've run into issues where i'd need one, and it's odd to me that there are makeup products but no tampons. it would be really nice! but obvs this is a person issue, and i should really get in the habit of making sure i bring emergency stuff.

Prices need to come down. I want to lift at a gym that encourages growth and doesn't stop real training like deadlifts. Seems like they are trying to make a "safe place" to work out. More worried about making people feel good than get a good workout in. Maybe I'll check it out when then lower the price. Until then, I'll pay $30 a month for LA Fitness.

Response to Owner: I appreciate you taking time to respond. However, one of the biggest issues was left out. Price. I could buy a Thera gun in two months if I saved the membership cost from 425 Fitness and went with a gym with more locations like 24hr fitness / LA Fitness. They are not as fancy as 425 but they are worth every penny in membership.

The thing that erks me the most is I want to go to a place like 425 but the monthly is outrageous. After reading reviews here on Google it sounds like for $109 a month I'll still have to deal with finding weights when I need them and bringing a towel. And then with added downsides. Like not being able to drop the lower half of a deadlift, getting in trouble for having a small bag with my water bottle and phone on the floor.

Also, some of the cancellation stories are horrible. I know gyms make it hard to cancel but these reviews make it would MUCH worse than normal.

Call me when it's $60-$75 a month. 🙃

I actually really enjoyed this Gym, I like the staff, I like the layout and the equipment. Always wish they had a boxing bag and I liked the pool. Was a member for little over 2 years and wanted to take a break as I had an injury and a big vacation planned that would put me out for a while. The reason why I can only give it 2 stars is really because of their shady approach to cancelations. As you can guess by people asking "how do I cancel" on google, they do not make it easy. I have had this happen to me before, so I always ask before I sign up "How do you cancel" and the answer sounds so simple but when you try, it is not. I first went to the website, logged into my account, went to my accounts page to look for a cancelation button, no where to be found. I remember them saying, you can do it through the website, so I kept searching. They have a big title on their website "CANCEL ANYTIME!" but where? So I went there in person, I don't live far, I signed up there, surly I can just go there and cancel. Spoke to someone at the front desk, they gave me a card with a url and a code that I have put put in on this third party website. Seams a little complicated but ok, I take that home I go to the url on the card, it has some instructions to put in the code, I put in the code and hit the button and ..... nothing. The website is unresponsive. At this point this cancelation process has taken way too much of my time, and I am still not canceled. So I go back to the Gym a few days later (I had stuff to do). At this point I am a little annoyed. I speak to the same kid at the front desk and tell him, the code with the URL does not work. Please cancel my membership. He said he can't do that but he would send an email to the General Manager and that I would hear from them the same day. Nothing for 3 days so I call and they say I would hear from them that day. nothing again for days so I show up in person again. This is my 3rd visit to the Gym to try to get my membership canceled. That feels ridiculous to me and either willful incompetence or shady business practice. I happen to run into Wayne Cook, the General Manager there who was able to confirm that they sent out a confirmation that I am canceled the day I showed up for the 3rd time. I explained my situation to him in hopes that he would say "this is a mistake, it should be easy and instant we will fix that right away sorry" But instead I felt gaslit, "It's on our website" he said. I am a software engineer, I am not computer illiterate so if felt that if I was looking for it and can't find it, it's willful incompetence or ... I canceled my Title Boxing membership at the same time, it was a breeze and I respect that. I am not back and signed up at Title and unfortunately, my dignity does not allow me to sign up to 425 again. I am not a fan of the 24/h fitness gym nearby but I signed up for it instead. I hope they see the light and treat their future customers with respect.

Honestly I never do reviews but felt I needed to. I been coming here for over a year now, and when I first started things were decent, they then raised prices said they would do remodeling but basically not much changed and whatever they did do was nothing special, such as adding a wall. The women’s locker room basically didn’t change but apparently they did a lot to the men’s locker room. The most difficult part right now is their customer service and their towel service. They are only allowing people to grab one towel and nothing more, I mean come on. People are at the freaking gym where we are sweating and showering we need more than one small towel especially for hot yoga. It was so difficult to do hot yoga with 1 dainty towel I don’t think management understand that you guys said you’re providing a service for your customers which includes towels you shouldn’t be limiting it. Sometimes they say their washer is broken that is why… but that’s been an excuse multiple times and months or weeks at a time. You charge your customers a lot $100 a month you guys can afford to allow people to use towels and more than just one stupid towel.

Everything has gone down hill from the customer service and amenities which is extremely unfortunate. I know a lot of people are unhappy.

It's definitely more of a retiree fitness club as opposed to a real gym for people that take their lifting seriously. Go in and look around to see the same people lifting the same weights and never improving. Maybe once in the entire year I was there I saw someone deadlift more than 4 plates. Not surprising honestly, they'll yell at you for slamming weights whenever you lift heavy. No chalk allowed. No gym bags on floor. Constantly renovating/pool closures. The worst part is how NOBODY puts their weights back properly and the staff don't care. They are busier keeping their eyes peeled for gym bags tucked away under benches to care. You have to wander around the gym for 10 minutes to find the weights you need. I just canceled before my renewal date and they still charged me a whole extra month just to cancel??? Sure they say that up front but they definitely know that you'll forget in a year or two and they can steal a month of money from you. Go somewhere else.

Gym member beware! I signed up 18 months ago, put my membership on hold then realized cancelation was in order for a work move. I did the responsible thing, emailed the the Fitness Manager about how to cancel. I was told me to come down to sign a paper in person to cancel since there was no e-version(should have been first alarm). While I was there, I signed the paperwork to which they give you no copies, or double check you understand, unlike when signing you up. Months later, I started to notice charges on my card and reached out 425. I am told that after my "freeze" expired, my membership kicked back. I asked how since I signed a form. I was told there is fine print that says you must THEN go online and cancel in your portal. Are you kidding me? You make people go in person, then they go online? I have been back and forth with Wayne Cook who will throw the book at you about your membership contract and how if you don't follow the cancelation process to a T, they have the right to take your money. This why I emailed!!!!! I asked what was the process to avoid this situation entirely. STAY away. Find a boutique gym that is about relationships and your true state of fitness health. Have no idea how their failed customer service keeps their doors open.

Outgoing member here. This gym has always been a 2-3/5 for overall performance. From broken saunas to steam rooms to equipment.
Seems like buying the cheapest version of something doesn't go far. Just like everyone else here cancelling my membership in april means I have paid until mid June. Great, I will use a gym
I want to leave till June. The crown jewel was walking in on a Sunday at 10am and watching someone grind bolt studs from about 10/20 machines. Throwing sparks onto members working out and filling the air with metal fumes, an enclosed space with no ventilation. Which is exactly what you want when going to a gym for fitness. Ive posted a picture of the studs they were cutting which are basically sharpened now. As posted before the ownership/management seem like they don't know what to do. A 2/3 star average should make you look at your policies and actions differently. Guess I will keep working out in metal fumes. Thanks 425!

The gym was really nice when I joined in 2022. In the name of renovation they have almost doubled the price now while the quality (specially of men’s locker room) has taken a nose dive!

I continue to go to this gym as it is close to home and the trainer is a gem! Equipment is reasonably good.

The men’s locker room is a joke! I have to try at least 7-8 (open) lockers every time to find 1 that works. Apparently the batteries are an issue but the management refuses to do anything about this. Think about how basic this is but there just does not seem any intent to o fix this simple thing even after communication with their management team. It’s funny to see everyone just trying to find a locker that works. Steam room is not to be talked about. They were renovating for 3-4 months at the end of 2023 when the steam room was inaccessible and then immediately after opening it was not working for weeks again. Currently it has been broken for the past 3-4 weeks and the notice says they are working diligently (no ETA for fix). I would love to get a number from 425 management on how many days in the past 1 year their steam room has been functional - I will bet anything it is lower than 25% (!)
It’s a pity that they charge you for all of these facilities as part of the membership fee and then they are simply unable to maintain the steam rooms and the batteries of the men’s lockers even with such high membership fee! I am currently contemplating finding a better gym.

The dichotomy of being a member of both 425 fitness and Fitness quest has been incredibly eye-opening. 425 is $120 (no military discount either which was pretty shocking but whatever) where you receive no guest passes if you want to bring a friend, a day pass to even try the gym is $15, and the amenities you get to use are cramped and constantly malfunctioning. Not to mention, (from what I’ve read) cancelling is an insane hassle.
Conversely, I pay $140 a month for my wife and I, the gyms are huge, the auburn location has like 8 basketball courts/volleyball courts, they have saunas, and it’s incredibly easy to cancel. ALSO, this $140 INCLUDES unlimited classes for Brazilian jiu jitsu, kickboxing, judo, wrestling, and boxing at every skill level. Most BJJ places charge $120+ for a single membership but fitness quest gives you EVERYTHING. I guess that’s why they were voted best in the Northwest.
I’m not trying to advertise for FQ. I just want to point out that these two gyms of comparable size, locations, and accessibility, offer vastly different experiences at insanely different price points. 425 Redmond didn’t even offer reduced rates during their 4 month “remodel”. They limited access to bathrooms and showers, no access to saunas and had the nerve to charge the same $120. I understand that King County is a wealthy area, and the reality is, there aren’t many quality gyms. East side is good for the price but there are no amenities and it’s small. I can’t speak for the others. But it’s clear they’re taking advantage of a fairly small market in a wealthy area that allows them to price gouge and treat their members however they want, because they know they’re one of very limited options.
425 is clean, and it has a lot of amenities, and the equipment is nice. But if there were any other options for a large gym space with a sauna, that was even slightly cheaper, I would happily cancel and switch. I love the quality of the gym, but the profit drive is insane. I would relish in the day that Fitness Quest opens a King County location just to watch the mass exodus.
I’m not just trying to leave a nasty review. If you don’t plan on swimming or going to a bunch of group classes, don’t join this gym if it creates any kind of financial strain. They’ve hiked the prices before and I’m sure they’ll do it again.

Really love this location; It has a TON of different facilities (joined for salt water pool, stayed for everything else), the staff is super chill and friendly, and it's very clean-- At least from the women's locker room and shared areas perspective.

I've seen cleanliness complaints that seem to center around the men's locker room, so I would personally conclude that it might be a "some nasty men" problem rather than a facility problem as everywhere else seems tidy and sanitary. I always wipe machines/equipment before and after use and have never come up with a dirty pre-wipe.

I've never known the staff to be unfriendly, personally; They always acknowledge me with at least a smile and nod, which is a-okay.

The only bummer time I've had ever had here was finding parking in the evening, which is kind of just the nature of going ANYWHERE right after work, not really a 425 problem.

⭐️UPDATE TO PREVIOUS REVIEW!⭐️

After an initially disappointing visit to the gym, where I encountered unwelcoming service at the front desk, I felt compelled to share my experience with the management team. To my relief and satisfaction, the gym manager, Wayne Cook, handled the situation with exceptional care and professionalism.

Wayne reached out personally to address my concerns, offering a sincere apology and a detailed explanation of the steps being taken to ensure that all guests feel welcomed and valued from the moment they step into the gym. His commitment to improving customer service and his understanding approach made a significant impression on me.

Because of Wayne’s proactive and compassionate handling of the situation, I’ve decided to give the gym a second chance. It’s clear that under Wayne’s leadership, the gym is dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive environment for all its members and guests.

Thank you, Wayne, for turning my initial disappointment into a hopeful outlook on what I believe can be a great gym experience. Your actions have shown that feedback is not only heard but acted upon, reinforcing my decision to return and see the positive changes for myself.

🚨DISCRIMINATION EXPERIENCE AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE DURING MY FIRST VISIT BY FRONT DESK🚨

Dear Management,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Latasha Mae, and recently, I was invited by a business associate to visit your establishment as a guest.
Eager to experience what had been recommended, I completed the necessary online guest registration prior to my arrival. However, the reception I encountered upon my visit on February 23, 2024 at 6:17am was far from welcoming and raised concerns that I feel compelled to address.

Upon arriving at the front desk alongside my friend, we were met with a lack of acknowledgment from the front desk staff. It was only after I initiated a greeting that we received a response. My attempt to check in was met with a request for ID, which I did not have on me, as I prefer to carry minimal items to the gym. Despite my explanation that I had pre-registered online, the staff member insisted on ID verification. My friend was then asked to provide her ID, after which an exception was reluctantly made to allow my entrance.

This interaction was disheartening, particularly as I had made efforts to adhere to the guest registration process. The situation escalated when I expressed my frustration over the poor customer service and the unwelcoming first impression. The response from the staff member was both dismissive and abrupt, culminating in being told to leave the premises without any attempt at resolution.

I wish to highlight that as a 5-foot-10 African-American woman, and an advocate and case manager for individuals facing financial challenges and homelessness in King County, the treatment I received felt discriminatory and unwarranted. I am well-acquainted with the area, having been born and raised in the Redmond Kirkland region, and was taken aback by the assumption that I did not belong.
While I fully respect and understand the necessity of an ID policy for security purposes, there was no clear communication of this requirement on your website. Had this been made known, I would have ensured compliance prior to my visit. The manner in which I was treated by the staff member, whom I regretfully cannot name, has left a lasting negative impression of what otherwise appears to be a reputable facility. The incident occurred early in the morning, with the involved staff members being one with short hair folding towels and another with a long ponytail (the offender).
I am inclined to file a formal complaint regarding the perceived discrimination, racial profiling, and overall disrespect encountered. It is disheartening to note that my experience fell short of the standard of customer service and hospitality I have encountered in other fitness establishments, including those of lesser renown. In light of this experience, I strongly recommend a review and enhancement of your customer service training, particularly emphasizing the importance of acknowledging and respectfully engaging with guests upon their arrival.
I am deeply disappointed and unsettled by the entire episode, which not only prevented my friend and me from utilizing your facilities but also significantly impacted my wellbeing. I trust that you will take this feedback seriously and implement measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

I look forward to your response and the actions you will undertake to address these concerns.

Sincerely,

Tasha Mae

Disappointed with Lack of Follow-Up

Two weeks ago, I took the step to share my deeply concerning experience at [425 Fitness, redmond] regarding discrimination, humiliation, racism, and intimidation from another customer. I hoped that by speaking up, the issue would be addressed promptly and effectively. However, I am deeply disappointed by the lack of follow-up from the management.

Despite the owner's assurance that the matter would be investigated by the area director, I have yet to receive any further communication or resolution regarding my complaint. This delay is unacceptable and only adds to my frustration and disappointment.

As a valued member of [425 Fitness, redmond], I expected more proactive measures to be taken to address such serious allegations. The lack of response not only fails to uphold the values of inclusivity and respect but also undermines the trust and confidence I once had in the gym's management.

I urge the management team at [425 Fitness, redmond] to prioritize the investigation of my complaint and provide a transparent and timely resolution. Discrimination and racism have no place in any establishment, especially one that prides itself on promoting health and wellness.

Until this matter is satisfactorily resolved and appropriate actions are taken, I cannot in good conscience recommend [425 Fitness, redmond ] to others.

Horrible experience with the Swimming class. Stay away from the swimming class. If you really want to enroll the swimming class, here is the timeline:
1. Want to enroll the swimming class? Okay, pay the membership fee to join the waiting list. What are the available time slots? Sorry you need to pay the money first to join the waiting list.
2. Want to schedule a swimming class? Okay, send emails to the director and wait. Waite 2~3 weeks for the response. Reply back, and wait for another 2~3 weeks to get an instructor. So far, you already pay at least 1 month.
3. Class scheduled and you think everything settled down? You go to your first class on time and there is no instructor shows up. You email the instructor and will be told there is a family emergency. You want the refund for THIS class? Sorry, there is NO WAY TO REFUND.
4. You go back to step 2 to be paired with another instructor and think this time everything will be fine. And you will be told that they will have training/racing/personal break time, and the class stops after two or three weeks. Okay, go back to step 2 again. (I couldn't remember how many instructors I had now. I would say, MANY)
5. You want to know if the class scheduled? You have to call them or email your instructor. No other ways to check even through they have an APP and there is a calendar in it. They just don't use it.

For the whole time, I feel like I'm begging to have my classed scheduled. They just don't care about you, your time, or your money.

The update 2/1/2024:
I went to the gym yesterday and the volume is lower. Thanks for tuning the volume. In the sauna room, the sound is far more comfortable. Thanks for keeping the gym clean and organized. Your hard work is highly appreciated.

The review on January 30,2024:
The music is too loud! I can even hear the sounds and beating in the sauna room where it supposed to be a quiet and relaxed place. Around the front desk area, the sound is good and gentle. When you go to the equipment area, it gets very loud both for the first floor and the 2nd floor.

It used to be loud and after people complained, the music got down. I really like this gym and front desk people are friendly and kind. For senior people or people having health issues, their heart cannot bear such loud music. Loud music also makes this gym like a cheap place which is not true. This gym is pretty good. Please lower the music volume and make this gym a pleasant place again. Thank you!

I cannot recommend this gym - the men's locker room has been entirely closed for renovations for several months now. As a paying member losing access to an integral facility I expected to have, this is unacceptable. There’s been zero communication from management on timelines or accommodations. I specifically signed up for amenities like the sauna and steam room. Yet my membership dues remain unchanged but previously went up in price, even while losing promised features. Unless you don't care about having a functional men's locker room or bathroom, I'd advise joining another gym that values transparency with members and provides the services they advertise. Poor handling of facility outages has cost them my loyalty.

Sauna and mens restroom has been getting remodeled for months just to replace the tile and they changed vending machines and are now charging 4 dollars for a drink when last month it was 2.50 that made me sad I probably won't use the machine anymore

Very nice location and space. The ladies steam room and hot sauna were tiny and very smelly . Otherwise rest all clean and motivating . My trainer Mona was excellent. I would recommend her to anyone.

What I don't like is their cancellation policy. If you are trying out thier Gym , please be aware that they have 30 days cancellation policy. The ad in the Google says " cancel any time" . Yes you can cancel anytime. But if there is a billing scheduled with in 30 days then you are forced to stay for next month too. For a billing change for the month I am sure I won't be using I had to go to the gym 5 times and multiple email exchanges. In the digital world why and who does that anymore. Well-this Gym does that. Cancellation was easy like advertised , one click . Updating review after response from the team. Yes every place has its own policy and will be mentioned on the tons of policy documents . This review is for those people like me who is unsure of continuing and realises that if you start gym on June 1st and decides not to proceed on 2nd you are forced to stay till July 31st. The trainers need to be informed 2 weeks only , unlike the gym.

The Gym facilities should be rated by the people who uses Gym regularly . My husband recommended to me. 5star rating is on behalf of that.

Nice facility but management is incompetent and doesn't want to hear any customer feedback. Countless people complained about the music being too loud but the general manager is doubling down on it. They also apparently will chalk your tires for parking in their parking lot for an hour. There's always something broken or not working properly (see my photos). One of the TVs in the weight room has been in demo mode for months and I wouldn't be surprised if it still is. With the increased membership fee, it's no longer worth it.

excerpt from my conversation with a front-desk staff when I stopped by to ask why we were charged two extra months after attempting to cancel the membership:

Staff: I can only see cancel pending in the system I don’t know why you are still being charged
Me: Can you actually cancel the membership?
Staff: No, only the GM can do that
Me: Is he here? Can I talk to him?
Staff: He is very busy; here’s his email
Me: I already sent an email a week ago and got no response
Staff: He answers all the emails”

I dislike like leaving negative reviews and resent squabbling over who said what. This gym has quality equipment but run by people who actively dislike customers. Pool too cold to conduct lessons for kids? No, your lessons were bought in bulk what's that to do with a cold pool?). Convoluted PT charges that lack transparency and clarity? They email you screenshots of text exchanges instead of explaining in person. Overcharging a full month membership? We will deduct your fees out of 'courtesy'. I often feel my commitment to this gym is almost religious yet the priests conducting the service actively dislike the followers. Which makes the entire experience somewhat abusive. 425, I've just spent several minutes of my life giving you valuable feedback, out of courtesy. Now please get out of my life.

I went to tour this gym (not a day pass). It is absurd that they were asking to sign up (I can bear that) but it requires your profile picture (insane, because I'm not even sure if I'm joining). Reason for photo: for the safety of their members (what??????🤔). Note: For the tour, you are usually accompanied by the employee.

Front desk person: yes, lot of people who come for tour doesnt like it. And the management is aware of it.

I can't join a place who doesn't take customer feedback seriously. 👎

For comparison, lifetime/proclub doesn't do it.

A nice place to workout if you don't mind the issues it has.
They just canceled Silver Sneakers with 27 days notice,... they couldn't wait till the end of the year? Everything is up,...I get it.
The front desk people are nice but don't usually know much about the dynamics of the club, and who else can you ask?
We have asked for more Zumba classes forever and that never went anywhere.
Here is a simple idea don't schedule two packed fitness classes back to back and that parking problem disappears. GONE!
In general the facility is nice but do they care about the members concerns,...questionable at best.

1 star for the management policies and swimming department.

1) $100 a month, for this new and 30% higher price- need to designate a QUIET (cell phone free; soft music) private and relaxing area between classes. Good example is Proclub

2) should have more group classes at 3pm and 4pm for those of us who work out after early shifts (drs/nurses, teachers, contractors) 5pm class simply won’t work- after committing to home, won’t commute again just for 1 class. Plus all kids’ schools end around 3:30pm. Definitely More demand for afternoon classes than morning nor evening.

My monthly rate was about $75 a month; reasonable considering this place was close to work, and had showers. I had high aspirations for this place, however across Issaquah and Redmond, the irony of ownership’s general disregard to operate the place well (broken/neglected equipment, broken pool/hot tub/steam room, limited weight plates, etc.) in contrast with the walls of motivational lines left me with a sour taste.

If you are considering a gym, know that this place is gimmicky. They’ll bring you in with a “$0 setup fee” and when you (like other members) decide you’ve had enough of their up-sells, they send you out paying for an extra month with their 30 day cancelation policy.

In summary, settle with the same equipment at a Anytime Fitness/24 Hour Fitness or side with the nicer experience at Pro Club/Lifetime.

Edit: If you think this review is in poor taste, read their responses to other reviews.

Why wouldn’t you just keep a backup stock of parts, rather than waiting an entire week? Their “billing cycle” excuse for 30 day cancelations is just a lazy way of saying we have poor customer service and are not willing to change. At worst, a credit card processor charges you 1 - 3% of the bill ($3 max).

Decent gym with variety of equipment. Overall workout experience has been fine. Recent price increases (twice in one year) and excessive music volume made me cancel.

When I signed up through a work program I was paying around $35/mo. 425 ended participation in the program so I was converted to a legacy account at $50/mo. I can understand this, and the price was still acceptable to me. But then they raised all prices and my most recent invoice was for $80. This is no longer worth it to me.

Management is also refusing to listen to complaints about the music levels from their speakers (see their responses to other reviews). I think there’s better value to be had elsewhere unless you need some of the extras they provide (e.g., basketball, pool, etc.)

Men’s locker room could also use some attention (e.g., mold on ceiling in showers), but they say they are working on renovating it so that might improve in the future.

I used to love going to this gym, the equipment was great, staff was always friendly and hours were good. However, when I signed up I was told my rate was locked in almost a year ago. Unfortunately I got an email stating anyone on current membership pricing will have a 30% increase in August. While I understand gyms needs to make money for upgrades and such. Increasing the rates the next month while also making it required that members pay the increased month when they cancel seems like a money grab and has lost my loyalty/trust. They could have at least gave us 2-3 months head notice.

Horrible customer service. If you register, it is easy and simple. If you want to cancel, you have to go through website and pay another month. And I got trained through a personal trainer. She is great. After I canceled my personal trainer, the gym still charged me for another 2 billing circles. And for all the billings, you have to talk to the manager for the process. And the front desk can't handel billing problem but can help you buy stuff. : ) the worst customer experience. no recommendation. I can't understand my friend's recommendation. Besides, the swimming pool looks nice but is freezing. I mean, if you are a gym, you profit through reviews... why...

To response to the gym's reply, I canceled on June 16th in written email. And I got charged 3 times after that (June 20th, July 04th and July 18th).So I should pay the June 20th, but should get refunded for the other 2 billing. which part is not clear?

For the cancellation of the gym, you have to register through another website to cancel. I am saying this process extremely not necessary.

I don't like to leave comments anywhere and expose privacy. It takes extra time and energy. Nobody wants to spend extra time on typing if not extremely disappointed.

I was a guest here today. I got the tour (Nicole was super friendly, informative and helpful) and attended a yoga class (yin yoga, a first for me, very relaxing). I also used the locker room and showers (which include towel service, programmable locker locks, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shaving cream, hair driers, cotton balls, q-tips and more). It was a great experiance. I did not workout, but the equipment was plentiful and in good condition. I was ther at 10:00 am on a Friday; no crowds at that time. They also have add on options like personal training, message, etc. (I did not give it 5 stars because I just don't have enough experiance there yet to rate it as perfect.) Thanks Nicole!

I wish I could give this place a 0-star rating, but I'm concerned they might hide all the 1-star reviews. First of all, I am a petite woman, standing at 5'2" and weighing 110 pounds. I don't feel safe working out here. Today, a 7-foot tall man, three times my size, informed me that I needed to share a particular piece of equipment with him because he had already started using it. However, I had checked beforehand, and no one had been using the equipment for quite some time. I found his behavior quite rude. I have been a Gold's Gym member for many years and have never experienced anything like this before.

When I asked the front desk how to cancel my membership, they told me I had to register online before I could cancel. I explained that I didn't have a profile, and they simply told me to create one and then cancel it. This is a completely nonsensical process.

My daughter, who is a minor, was talked into signing up for a membership after going there on her own. By their policy, either a parent or guardian should be present for the membership sign up or they need to call us to get approval. We never received a call from them. Yet they refused to cancel the subscription and kept charging us even after we have called them multiple times to cancel. Even after our daughter cancelled online they still claimed that there should be a 30 day notice hence plan to charge us again in 30 days. But the original membership signup was not legitimate in the first place because there is no parental approval so they should refund all the charges especially since our daughter stopped using them after the first month.

Just want to add a response to the reply from 425 below. It’s a blatant lie to say that they called and talked to my wife. My wife never received a call from them.

To even be able to cancel I had to spend time creating a profile on their website (which I never had to do when I signed up or during the time I was a member). Part of that profile creation is typing in a 10 digit member number that I literally have no record of anywhere. Now that I’ve jumped through the hoops and canceled I find out I’m required to pay for another 6+ weeks of membership. What a joke.

Absurd Gym policy for a guest!
My friend requested me to join him for a pickleball game at 425 fitness. I joined 425 fitness in Oct 2022 and have been playing only pickleball. I also referred one of my friend to join for pickleball game. My friend was allowed as a guest for free. He later on joined the gym.
Today, I brought my daughter (18+) to introduce her pickleball. The staff at the reception asked her to create an account as my guest, which she did. The staff then asked her to pay $15 as the guest fees, she paid that too (though they claim to provide free day pass for guests on their website). My daughter told me that the staff also kept her driving license as a collateral!
This felt weired to me and I went back to the reception to ask the reason behind holding her ID as collateral. The staff could not answer this question and bonced it to his manager (Wayne Cook). I requested him to return back my dauthers ID and explain me the logic behind this policy (which is not consistent with all guests). Wayne Cook said this is our policy and if you need your id back, my daughter has leave the Gym!.
I requested him to return the ID and rollback the $15 guest fees.
This is an absurd and unnecessary policy which is inconsistent across guests! I got to know that there are other such policies where they ask members to keep their mobile phone as collateral if they borrow a pickleball from them! This seems petty and cheap.
I am cancellng my membership today and hope that management of 425 fitness will look into these absurd and inconsistent policies to encourage members to bring as many guests as they can without unnecessary frictions.

The gym seems to have experienced a huge surge in usage and the gym has not invested in increased preventive or reactive maintenance - locker rooms are a mess all the time, tons of equipment is broken, and tons of bad gym etiquette that the ownership refuses to adequately address. The front desk staff are not very helpful, I've tried to report broken equipment before and they do nothing. I've also had desk staff literally laugh in my face when I tried to raise valid concerns. The only reason I stay is my personal trainer is awesome. The rest of the experience is pretty meh. The pool is nice but very often broken and out of service. I'm a long term member and I'm pretty sad about how badly run this gym is now. Not a lot of other options though.

I was a member of LA Fitness for over 10 years and decided to switch to 425 Fitness. Here are few reasons:
1. The club has swimming pool with salty water.
2. Good quality wet and dry sauna. (Although the wet sauna is closed for technical reasons)
3. The fitness is relatively new, the equipment is in good condition and is empty most of the time.
4. Good quality basketball court.
5. Free hydro massage

Disadvantages are
1. the price is $70/months
2. Location. I have to drive from Bothell to Redmond as 425 Fitness in Bothell does not have pool.

This has been the gym my family and I have been going to since moving to Washington about 13 years ago. I’ve since moved to the east coast, and now the south, and every time I come home and visit my family, I still make it a point to come to this gym.

It’s huge and has ALL equipment you could need. It’s also so spacious - since leaving WA and trying different gyms like Equinox, I feel so spoiled every time I come back to 425. Not to mention, the staff is incredibly friendly - I’m greeted with a “welcome home” every time I return during trips to visit my family.

Hello,
I usually really hate leaving bad reviews at places, but for 425fitness in redmond I was left with no other option. I recently signed up to be a member (2 months ago) and after paying a hefty initiation fee alongside a hefty membership fee, I was deeply disappointed. The facility itself is okay: the equipment is okay, nothing noteworthy. However the locker rooms are in terrible condition. At the price point of $70 a month you would at the very least expect clean showers. In multiple showers I found mold around the shower heads and in the steam sauna there was mold in the corners. To be honest, I don’t even know how this gym is still open due to health concerns. Additionally, BE CAREFUL WHEN ENDING MEMBERSHIP. I very clearly emailed and talked to an agent in person about cancelling my membership, and even got a response to my email from a staff member confirming my cancellation. However, I discovered I was charged again after cancelling my membership. I then went into the gym to talk about it with the front desk and they simply told me that they couldn’t account for an employees mistakes! (Apparently the employee who said he canceled my membership didn’t do so correctly) They refused to refund me despite it clearly being their fault. Please be weary before signing up for this gym! A lot of headache will ensue!!!
