This gym is just a failure. No one is ever there it's gross, and the equipment is old. Also, they lie to you when you sign your contract. I'm truly surprised they have a 3 star rating.

Coming back to what they said. There was no one there to talk to about how bad the gym was getting. Also, I moved gyms for a reason. Then gem heights were clean, but they tried to rope me in to pay 60 a month, which is ridiculous for how bad any time fitness and how little you get out of it. Trust me when I say there are gyms out there that are better. This is clearly a poor business practice, and they exploit it because people don't know half the time.

This is a lovely little local gym. They have a good variety of machines and plenty of weights and other things to do. The staff is always super friendly in the office, especially Meghan. She remembers my name and always encourages me.

Was told I could not use a specific location any longer since I used it more often then the one I signed up at (thought I could use any) unless I changed my home gym to them and my monthly amount would double!-Signed up for MTM and they have it in writing that is what it should have been. It was a contract and I was told someone went over it with us which they didn't. I had proof that it was to be MTM. took forever to resolve my issue and said that they would not charge me the next month. I said thank you. Once resolved they said they can no longer comp the next month so I paid. Then an additional month still came out of my bank after that. They were supposed to refund it but they never did. Stopped responding to me too. I never once got to talk to the "owner" who they said they were waiting to hear back from for weeks! Never again! Got to Northwest Fitness CO! Way better company, environment, equipment and it is CHEAPER!

Trash gym. I signed up with my buddy a while back and they took our info. He then was called from collections stating the information he provided was not allowing payment, and put his account in collections for people to call and harass him for payment. I'm also being charged 70+ a month for this tiny gym. on top of that they require I send a letter to cancel my membership which is a hinderance on my behalf even though we live in world where we can sign loans electronically, and do many things through the web... But when it comes to CANCELING a gym membership, that's where these clowns draw the line? I WAS ABLE TO CANCEL MY DAMN CAR INSURANCE WITH A CLICK OF A BUTTON. This is a tactic to make you rethink your cancelation, or delay your cancelation. Shady business, and I highly recommend anybody who wants to find a suitable gym, to avoid this place.

EDIT 1/9/2025: I have found out after contacting the attorney general that this facility has so many complaints by people that the person I was talking to was speechless. I even just found out a family friend was also sent to collections even though they canceled their membership. This place is a scam and should be shut down as soon as possible. Terrible manager, terrible staff. It's like they wait for you to accrue a fake balance by not telling you about a mishap in their system when you initially cancel, and then sell that account with a high balance to a debt collection agency. THEY ARE KNOWN FOR THIS BY OTHER PEOPLE IN PUYALLUP. Don't fall for it!

In reading through some of these reviews, I am sorry that some have had poor experiences with this gym.

Personally though, that has not been my experience.

The owners, Ken and Jerusala Evans, as well as Staff like David Lassen, are extremely down to Earth and genuinely take care of their club members.

I have had many points in time during my near-two years of being a member here where the staff have been nothing but kind and understanding.

Not to mention, the whole facility is regularly cleaned, from all the equipment, to the floors, and the bathrooms.

In recent times, there has even been new quality and professional equipment added to this gym.

I read other reviews that mentioned the small size of this gym; yes, it may be a smaller gym compared to an LA or Planet Fitness, but with this Anytime Fitness location in particular, you really get what you pay for — a clean and private club, open 24/7, with top-tier equipment, that is not as high-traffic as these other gyms.

I am about four years into my lifting / fitness journey, and I can confidently say that becoming a member at this Anytime Fitness location has only been a positive, hands down.

I’ll end with this… In October of 2023, I was in the Philippines. Because of my membership with Anytime, I was able to gym on the other side of the world using the same key fob I use here with no hiccups at all… the fact that a membership with Anytime Fitness is not just a national membership, but an international membership is absolutely wild.

Clean gym but pretty scummy tactics to keep you on the roster for recurring payments, and no contract should ever auto-renew. A 2 year agreement is just that, an agreement for 2 years. When I signed up, not checking the auto renewal box meant you were not able to complete registration, you are expected to go back within 3 days and revoke that option... Should not need to take the day off work, drive 2 counties over and submit multiple documents in writing, in person, to cancel an overpriced gym membership 30+ days in advance. Anytime Fitness is the only gym currently that still operates on the 1990s Bally's total fitness model, fine print you to death. You almost need a binding UN resolution to handle this in a simple manner, be prepared to block their access to your bank, and to call the ABC parent company to put the heat on them. This club will never get another penny of my money. Also not a fan of allowing people to set up their own little movie studio to record themselves for attention when frankly nobody in there wants to be recorded, indirectly or directly. I hope that that changes and recording on premises becomes against the rules.

Wow this place is horrible. I am an anytime fitness member, have been for over 10 years but the staff at this place are horrible. Well to be fair who ever the old lady is that instructs the yoga class. The class was posted to start at 6pm and she kicked everyone out of the workout room at 5:20. You don't automatically get the entire room for 2 people and there was more than enough room to have the class. Again THERE WAS ONLY 2 PEOPLE IN THE CLASS. Every single other location regardless of classes or not you share the room, its common courtesy. I even politely asked if I could just use the corner of the room for 5 minutes to stretch (I have an autoimmune disorder and stretching daily helps me combat this) but she said and I quote "I don't care I'm deciding to start early and I need this entire room. It's a group activity so no one else can use this room. We will be using it however long I want". WOW. “Jennifer” decided who 2 person class was so important that she would start her class OVER half an hour early and kick everyone else out. NEVER coming back to this location again and reccomended no one else does either.

FYI: the other class at 5pm was in a different area of the gym, so the studio room was NOT in use

Cool gym, I attended it everyday. The thing is, It should be easier to cancel your membership.
All the documents that you sign to enter the contract are electronic. You'd think they'd be able to forward those cancellation documents via email or provide for in app cancellation, but no. Requiring someone to send a cancellation letter via snail mail to some offsite location is archaic and makes things weird for no apparent reason.

I originally intended to rejoin this gym when I was back in the state/area. The nearest Anytime Fitness* is 30 min away (highway) from my 2nd home; I tried to make it work, but It's just too far away to be practical for how often I enjoy working out. Im disappointed because I literally paid extra for the month to month contract for 1.5 years for situations like this. After this nonsense, I don't want to come back.

My family just moved into the area and we were searching for a gym. We were considering a membership at this Anytime Fitness. After seeing how the owner has responded to negative reviews and criticism my family is going to take our business elsewhere. Gym response is inaccurate —- I’ve been a member at the gym for several months (not less than 30 days) and the fob stopped working due to an error on their end, not mine. When I called for help it took hours to reach them and multiple days to hear back. They could just apologize for the error but instead they make excuses and place blame on customers. The problem appears to be that they have absentee owners who don’t take an active role in managing the club.

Chose a different gym. My key fob stopped working due to an issue on their end. It took two days to get it fixed so I missed multiple workouts. A few weeks later and I’m traveling so I visit an Anytime in Chicago but my fob isn’t working again. It takes hours to get an answer on the phone back in Puyallup. When someone answered, I explained the problem and they said the owner needed to fix the problem. I was told they would fix it then get back to me but I never heard back. They have zero problem taking my money every month but I’m not sure what for. Happy to update the review once I can exercise again.

At 66 and 70, my husband and I have limitations; especially my husband, who has multiple muscular-skeletal issues. We were so encouraged and supported in our decision to join this gym; and because, the sign up workout was so welcoming and encouraging, it seemed flawless. Silver sneakers and my health insurance benefits gave us the ability to get going for 25$ a month and we are gonna do this thing!

Scheduled a tour online and when i showed up there was a sign saying it was unstaffed. When asking about an adjustment on membership price to be competitive with another local gym they just had a snark reply insinuating the other gym was always too busy, which it isn't. I’ve been a member at AF Puyallup since early 2019. The staff is great and it’s really nice to come workout at any hour. Multiple squat racks are available and there’s every piece of equipment needed to really get in a good workout. My employer pays for my membership at another commercial gym but my wife and I chose AF. Less crowded and we get to work out with great people.

I was considering joining this gym because of the location, however, after witnessing the owner's unprofessionalism in their responses to the negative reviews that they have received, I have chosen to join the Mel Korum YMCA. There are a multitude of gyms in the area, so it's interesting that they aren't conducting their buisness in a more professinalized manner. I'm sure that they will see this review and respond with 'why are you attacking me' as that seems to be a typical response from them but, as they so eloquently put it, that sounds like their problem; not mine.

I want to recognize employee, Luis, for his relentless commitment to keeping the gym clean, vacuumed, and mopped. Also, office worker Iaasac, whom helped my brother and I with the set up of our memberships.

Been coming for over a month and just really enjoy this gym for its private feel with mature patrons that keep to themselves and are respectful. We love how its anytime access with our key fobs and how quiet and sparse it is in the gym during most times. We gladly spend a little more than larger/commercial gyms for this positive experience.

The owners claimed to stay open during COVID, so I joined. I was told it was month to month and could cancel at anytime. When I tried to cancel, no employees would call or email me back and nobody answered either phone number. I was charged for months when I wasn't going there and I stopped going because the place was dirty with ants in the bathrooms. Then when I cancelled, I was charged with a $150 cancellation fee. They do not have integrity.

Beware of this place and their contracts, they will send you to collections during a pandemic!!! I signed up pre COVID, the gym was shut down due to COVID, and there was no way to contact them. Once they opened for a short period of time I was able to make contact with them in person at the gym and I requested to cancel my member ship at which time they stated they would take care of that. Later I found out they only froze my account, which to make matters worse I found out because they sent me to collections. I have made several attempts to contact them in regards to the matter only to final receive an email (Months later) stating how to go about canceling and a screen shot stating that the account was already in collections..... If you ever want or need to cancel your membership good luck!! Seems the only way they cancel memberships is to send you to collections

I attended this gym with one of my friends. Never. Again. The owner is the most unprofessional person I’ve ever seen. The way he handles customer service disgusts me to my core as someone who has worked in customer service. He lies and slanders his loyal customers who have never broken a single rule. Any complaint he gets, he bullies the complainant. Not only is this unprofessional, it is inappropriate, immature and irresponsible. I am truly appalled. Anyone who searches for gyms online will read your reviews and it’s very uncomfortable to read. I’m glad I did my research because I was very close to joining this gym for its 24 hours availability. However, after reading a few complaints and the response from Ken putting all of her business out there, I WAS DISGUSTED! Shouldn’t there be like a client discrepancy- I would never join a place that has people who reply this way to complaints. Also month to month should be like paying or you don’t get a service... two past dues? And she wasn’t going? Is not month to month.

This review has nothing to do directly with the management or the facility itself as much as it does with Anytime Fitness as a brand, and a company.

I signed up 9/21/19, my job changed and I wasn't able to make it to this location nor had the time to do so as I am frequently out of town or the state, I was paying $50/mo for a month-to-month "contract". On 10/21/19 exactly one month later I emailed in to notify management I needed to cancel, I was given a response that I needed to hand deliver this request to the location (can't do, out of town), or physically mail a letter to an entirely different location in Elma, WA and that this would serve as a 30 day notice......Ok, I knew this would be a process and understood that.

I sent the letter IMMEDIATELY to the Elma, WA location, waited, waited...waited some more, no response, no nothing. I was not given a phone number to contact, just an address. So come Nov. I was charged what SHOULD have been my final monthly charge, I accepted this and moved on.

Then there was another attempted charge, at this point I'd had enough and advised my bank to block charges and provided them with proof of my cancellation request along with Anytime Fitness's service contract stating the exact above mentioned steps of cancellation.

Now I'm getting phone calls by the original gym location, emails (which I responded to with everything I''ve stated thus far and again, never got a response) and from just recently ABC Financial - so at this point I'm a bit irate considering they are attempting to send me to collections for their BS.

The reason this company only allows PAPER MAIL requests of cancellation is because they can use the excuse they never received anything from me (which they did try to state, but I'm not an idiot and I have sent mail/receive mail confirmations). You know what doesn't get lost in a mail bag? EMAILS!!! its 2020 and this company operates like a mom and pop shop. Its basically a scam to a point.

Again no real issues with management themselves, or the facility, however this is ridiculous and OVERLY expensive, shop around people, their prices are not reflective of the competition which is lower and doesn't suck you into a two year contract to obtain said lower prices.

Great selection of equipment. Most gyms are machines and treadmills. This one has a Rogue rack, bumper plates, and Jacobs ladder. So if you want to do cross fit style workouts without the steep price, totally recommend this play. Owners are very friendly and engaged. Good layout, clean, nice bathrooms and changing rooms.

I usually find it difficult to rate a 5-star rate but this facility has attained such high praise from me. The staff are very friendly, willingly, professional and hospitable. I love Jen, she is so much interested in helping me attain my goal, she follows through by communication and motivation . Derek on the other hand is always giving that smile that reassures progress. I have been to about three gyms who were after the money but this gym works with my schedule and budget. I have come to love and enjoy this gym. It's my place of solace. Its accessible and judgment-free zone. I love all the classes and it's 24 hours accessible.

From my experience, I came in in November and signed the form that I’d like to pause the gym membership because of I was going to take a long vacation and told them to please DO NOT to renew my membership for the next year. So basically I want to cancel my membership after. So I didn’t step to their gym for months and months. Because I thought I’m done with them But guess what they were still do renew my gym month to month without my authorize and said I need to pay my past due so I can cancel the membership. And it cost only $131 dollars.

Ken from the puyallup Anytime Fitness called me 1000x’s for late payments including voicemails. I called back attempting to cancel service as I hit a hardship. I was told I had to pay a cancellation fee which I didn’t have at the time. Ken offered to place my account on hold and when I was able to continue service to call back and restore service. On Feb 2, 2019 I received text alert from my bank stating a 25 dollar payment came out to anytime fitness. I investigated and found out they charged me an annual maintenance fee. I was very upset ! I then requested to have my card removed from autopay and unauthorized any future auto payment. Yesterday March 13, 2019 anytime fitness charged my card $88.34 (not authorized) and I have nobody has answered the phone since then to resolve my issue. I don’t understand why I can’t reach Ken considering it was no problem when he was debt collecting. Don’t go to this gym, my experience was mortifying. They took light bill money without permission!!! Scam scam scam scam scam !!!!!!

Edit: ken claims my number is shut off but I’ve had the same number for three years! I verified my number with the trainer who was nice enough to text ken when he wouldn’t answer the club phone. Ken never called me and my phone was “shut off”. My phone is always on. He has failed to answer my questions about the unauthorized payment that was drafted out in March. I agreed to have my account placed on hold until March and I ALSO removed my card from file so HOW WAS ANYTIME FITNESS ABLE TO DRAFT A PAYMENT FROM A CARD THAT THEY WERE NOT AUTHORIZED TO USE?? My problem is if you call RIGHT now, nobody will answer, my problem is my card was charged without permission. Nothing more or less!!!!! You have failed to answer my questions and failed as a gym owner. Good day sir and glad to see you’re available to respond to a google review but not in person/over the phone . I signed up with Jerusala, supposedly under a military membership which she described as no obligation and no questions asked when it comes time to move. Fast forward 10 months later and I have moved across the country for my job, and there are no suitable gyms nearby. Now they keep charging me membership dues although I’ve called to have it cancelled multiple times. I’ll be following up with Anytime Fitness corporate to report shady and deceptive business practices here, but in the meantime I would suggest to any prospective member to shop around and consider your options. Surely there is a gym that has a real selection of equipment and that will not screw you when you eventually and inevitably leave their gym. Also, preying on and lying to members of the military seems to be pretty commonplace in Washington, and this place is no exception.

Went here while traveling, which I love about anytime fitness. They had no sitting leg press, only one that you lay down for, said it was ordered. No hip flexers at all, manager tried to convince me that the standing weight machine with ankle bracelet on was same thing. Absolutely NOT. Almost all machines were set up with heavy weights, for people trying to bulk up. The appear to be slightly shy of men spitting on floor, dropping weights and grunting I've had membership for many years and if this is the way Anytime Fitness is going, I'll leave. Need to have machines people can rehab on, and ones older population can use. Very disappointing.

Friendly and professional staff with full disclosure for all statements/contracts - very hard to find sometimes, but can be found at this Anytime Fitness. Clean facilities. Small but worth it!
