Barry’s has quickly become my second home. I took my first class on Oct. 1 and as of Nov. 26, I’ve completed 40 classes (mostly “double floor”) — a testament to how motivating the experience has been. While I haven’t really kept track of my weight, I do notice more visible muscle definition. The high-energy atmosphere, convenient 50-minute class format, and strict cancellation policy (you must cancel more than 12 hours before a class to avoid a penalty) have kept me accountable as I’ve overcome a long stretch of relative inertia.
The staff and instructors are incredibly welcoming and do a lot to acknowledge their regulars. The fuel bar offers a great selection of protein shakes and the studio is exceptionally clean. The Barry’s price point is high, but I was happy to cancel my other gym membership and trim down spending elsewhere to make it feasible.
One caveat: I don’t think Barry’s is great for people who don’t have at least a basic foundation for weightlifting. Instructors demo most movements during class, but there are times when they don’t. Moreover, receiving individual form correction is a rare occurrence.
All in all, I recommend Barry’s to anyone who loves intense, challenging workouts and values efficiency.

I tried Barry’s while I was in Seattle for work, and it was a great first experience. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the instructor made a point to learn my name and check in with me. I’m a slower runner, but I never felt out of place and was able to follow the class without any trouble. I loved the music and lighting; the energy was great. The treadmills don’t have a front bumper, which took a minute to get used to, but overall, I really enjoyed it and would definitely go again.

I've done 2 classes here so far and I'm not sure I'll sign up for a membership.
I like the red room and the energy, but this format isn't suited for those new to some of the floor exercises. Even if you flag you're a beginner up front, and you visibly look around in confusion, it's hard to flag down the instructor in the middle of it as it's fast paced and loud. Which isn't a bad thing if you know what you're doing. But me and 2 others near me were looking around and just copying the person next to us. I later learnt that the person next to us was on their 100th class that day and some of the stuff they were doing were more advanced modifications. You don't know what you don't know and the instructors don't correct anyone even if you're doing something visibly wrong.
The smoothie bar is good but pricey. There's about 6 smoothie places to get a protein shake around the Seattle Barry's and all at a lower price point for the same quantity and type of ingredients.
I see some folks when they join new get more of an introduction to the place, or a welcome note as some have posted here. I got an email asking to come 20 mins early and when I arrived , I got a 2 min intro to how to read the spot booked to the right treadmill / floor spot and where the dumbbells were placed. Didn't warrant coming in that early and just hanging around.
All in all the energy is great to push yourself, but at this price point and for someone just getting back to their fitness journey it may not be the right fit.

I took my very first Barry’s class at Lake Union, and I’m so glad Gene was my instructor, it was the perfect introduction to the Barry’s experience! From the moment class started, her energy, confidence, and encouragement made me feel totally welcomed and ready to take on the challenge.
Gene explained everything clearly, kept the motivation high, and pushed us in the best possible way. She somehow made a tough workout feel fun and empowering, which is no small feat for a first-timer like me. I left feeling strong, accomplished, and already excited to come back.

Joining Barry’s Seattle has been one of the best parts of my fitness journey! The instructors are phenomenal, the classes are electrifying, and the energy in the room is unmatched. It’s more than a workout, it’s an experience! I do have my favorites: Evan, Alex, and Ives - their classes are on another level, and I never miss a chance to book with them!
Whether you’re just starting out or have been training for years, they make you feel seen, supported, and unstoppable. Each session pushes you to grow, both mentally and physically. Once you take their class, there’s no turning back. You’ll be hooked in the best way possible!
Highly recommend to anyone looking to feel stronger, motivated, and part of an amazing community.

I had such a fun time at Run x Lift today, compliments of Rippling! From the protein shakes and shirts after class to the beautiful (and super clean) space - everything was so thoughtfully done.
Huge shoutout to Alex, who led an incredible class. She was so attentive, clearly demonstrated all the moves, and brought the perfect mix of intensity and motivation. During the run portion, I honestly wanted to vomit and push harder at the same time (in the best way possible)! lol I do not run so this was definitely the hardest part for me. I started with the lift portion, then run, then lift, then run again.
The whole Barry’s team was fantastic - jumping in to support when needed and keeping everything running smoothly from start to finish. Thank you for the push out of my comfort zone and an energizing end to the day!

I attended Barry’s while on a work trip in Seattle! As a first timer, the staff were very helpful and kind. The instructor took extra time and remembered my name. I am a slower runner, but didn’t feel out of place and was able to pick up on the flow of the class pretty quickly. I liked the lighting and the music. I have been here for almost 100 times. And another client claimed that I take pictures of them and I got flagged? When I offered to show my phone’s album they said they don’t need investigation, and just letting me know??? What kind of system is this. Even lied and said my instructor said I was on the phone, so I immediately pulled him over and the instructor said I am regular and didn’t see anything. Exactly what is the policy and what is going on here

This organization’s association with Jon Stoelting is concerning. His track record at previous employers raises serious questions about his honesty and integrity, as he seems to have little regard for the impact of his actions on others in the community. OMG! I can’t believe this happened! I left my $50 Lululemon water bottle at this place after workout. I called right away and the lady picked up the phone confirmed that my water bottle is there and will put under my name, told me I can pick it up anytime. Because I don’t live nearby, not come to downtown often, so I couldn’t pick it up right away. Now I’m coming to pick up my bottle today, they told me they don’t have it and either donated or throw it away. And I’ve been told they can’t keep it for couple weeks, which I understand if those unclaimed bottles there go to donation after certain time. However, I claimed my bottle and it’s under my name, it’s someone’s belonging. How could you just ignore that, throw it away or donate it without my permission. Also, NOBODY told me if I don’t pick it up for a while, it will be gone. Plus, the staff there definitely doesn’t wanna help or any empathy, they can’t take any responsibility! This is ridiculous! Never had any experience like this anywhere. Never ever come here for sure! Terrible experience! No customer service at all!!

I have been in Barry’s London , Miami , Nee York and Boston and I can see by far it’s the worst Barry’s I have tried .
They are very rude especially the instructor Alex she is extremely rude .
It’s a pity because the Barrys community is so nice and welcoming the opposite of the one in Seattle . The one in Miami and Boston I loved it and instructor were really great .
Also I have told to Alex that I hurt my feet and if she could give me alternative exercice where it do not engage so much my
Left feet she told me sure no worries when at the end she didn’t and when I asked her she told me do you think i have time . I found it extremely rude .
One advice do not go because it’s not worth your money to be treated this way . I hope they will open a new Barry’s Seattle

I'm a newbie here but after trying a couple instructors and these workouts, I can say this probably is the best high energy workout in Seattle. I'm not someone that likes group classes, but you kind of do your own thing here in the broader class so it works well. High energy, you leave feeling like you got your butt kicked, always room to improve, Super instructors and a very good supportive and accessible, vibe and location. Took Evan's class this morning and wow, it was tough but great and he is a first grade instructor!
I was a little intimidated to start working out here, but now I'm on the bandwagon! I like that they have an app to reserve classes, bypasses, and pick whether you want to start on the floor or tread. They're making it about as easy as they can for you, you just have to show up and do the work. Highly recommend.

I love Barry's for their instructors. Stefon consistently stands out as exceptional, making classes fun and engaging, and so easy to follow. I wish he taught more often!
The reception staff is quite nice, friendly, and helpful! They even remember me by name, which is impressive considering I don't go there daily.
I use GymPass, and signing up for classes and checking in has been very easy.
I normally park at WholeFoods (2hr validated parking if you buy anything at WholeFoods and scan your receipt), free Amazon garage Parking after 4pm or street parking that's quite easy too, but watch for parking signs.

I've been to six different Barry's both in the US and Europe and this is by far the most welcoming and consistently well programmed studio. I've seen them vocally welcome people from out of town and they never forget a milestone.
There are three coaches that I've been to regularly because of timing. Stefon crushes early Mondays with enthusiasm, keeping you running at 6 in the morning. He also is the clearest of any instructor I've had which is a boon when it's rapid fire tread and floor. Evan is your go to for a killer glute workout on Thursday (seriously 3 minutes of banded hip thrusters 💀). And Sarah will destroy your shoulders on Sundays or your arms or your legs, or all three.
The one con for me is this Barry's has the smallest bathroom. There are only three showers and it's not uncommon to see one out of service. Even the tiny New York studios have six showers or more. I tend to sprint out of the Red Room at the end of class so that I have a chance of showering.

I’m really disappointed with this location as I was a regular at Barry’s denver before recently moving to Seattle. The cleanliness at this location is poor and there have been no cleaning wipes at all in the red room on more than one occasion in the handful of times I’ve been. This was never an issue in denver. I am disgusted by the fact I’m expected to lay in someone else’s sweat on the bench. I (politely) mentioned it to the staff and that I can’t focus on anything else when this happens and it seems to be common at this location. They were pretty dismissive and said “yeah we go through a lot of wipes in the room.”

I’ve done Barry’s in so many different cities and although I live about a 25 minute drive from this location, I was happy to make the journey because I love both the workout and the culture of Barry’s. Unfortunately this location doesn’t deliver on either front. The staff at the desk were rude, unkind and dismissive when we arrived last weekend. It was embarrassing because a friend of ours was trying Barry’s out for the first time after we raved about what a special and uniquely positive workout experience we have consistently had at all the other Barry’s locations we’ve been to. This was not the case here and I doubt our friend will be back. I also don’t find their weights to be very inclusive- every other location I’ve been to has 4lb weights which I need due to a medical condition, but not this location, so I have to bring my own. I’ll use the rest of the pack I bought but then will have to find a different workout facility or hope that a second location opens up in the area with a better, kinder more inclusive staff.

I called Barrys to ask if my spot could be switched so I was next to my friend who was trying it for the first time. The woman on the phone was incredibly rude and told me that it was not possible since I booked it with class pass (even tho there were plenty of spots).
She then hung up on me without asking for my name or what we could have done to resolve it. I was in shock and my friend who’s coming with me, had his jaw drop…
I have been going to various Barry’s locations for a while now and I recommend it to my friend (who lives in seattle). Now we’re both taken aback by the whole experience and haven’t even stepped foot into the Barry’s yet.
I find it crazy that one person could ruin my years of positive experiences with Barry’s… and make my friends first experience so miserable…

Great way to start the day! Love how quickly this goes by. The instructor was okay. I did not like the way she exclaimed over the speaker, "Your other left, closer to me." I felt humiliated in my first class. I could not hear you say "right side" because of how loud the music was. I recommend using earplugs if you come in often. Otherwise your ears must adjust over what I consider to be appropriate for a concert. On the flip, it's great for pumping up your energy. Soon after you stretch, the cleaners waste no time to come right in while you're wrapping up to stretch. I felt like there was no room to stretch and breathe. At least they do a thorough job cleaning the room full of sweat after class.

The workout is ok and there are some good instructors who are good at motivating with the right music. However, I booked one class using Gympass (similar to Classpass) and checked in on the app. I also saw my spot assigned and class synced on the Barry’s app so went ahead to take the class in my assigned spot. I was pulled out of class 3 min in and was told that I didn’t “check in” at the front desk and the spot is assigned to someone else. The front desk person told me that I would get one class reimbursed, which never happened.
So similar like the other posts mentioned, it’s an intense workout in a sweaty and crowded environment with not enough light. There’s a chance of getting hurt as the instructor doesn’t have enough attention span to correct your movement and the movement changes every 30 sec so I’m not sure how effective it can be.
Thanks to the class incident, I decided to stop going to Barry’s after more than 15 classes. They’re good at using marketing skills, Instagram famous instructors and the club music vibe to make you believe that the workout is worth $30+ per 50 min. But after all you might just burn more calories and fresher air running around lake union two blocks away for 50 min instead, and totally free with no chance of someone stopping your workout 3 min in :)

First, there is a lot of boutique fitness out there, I frequent at Soul Cycle which I love - HOWEVER. Your body gets plateaus with cycling, I now do it for social aspects/good for mental clarity. Which is just as important!
Barry's, however - WILL transform your body if you keep it up a few times a week - will never plateau. I find that it's one of the only group work outs that is actually worth your $$.
You also actually learn a lot about working out that you can use at home gyms etc.

Wanted to love my first experience more; the staff seem great enough but the music and coaching was so loud that it was a painful experience throughout. I could not concentrate on what was happening because it hurt so much to listen. I felt panic because of this the whole time. Even my friend who is a regular member said that that was unusual. I left the building with muffled hearing for a few hours. Is the liability waiver to prevent people from filing a lawsuit for hearing loss? If you decide to go to Barry's bring decibel filter earplugs. I am going to give this place a try in the future and hope it was a fluke. Until then I'll remember to keep earplugs with me just in case. I would also agree with another comment that the focus is set so much on pace and so little on form that you could easily injure yourself if not careful.

Not quite sure what the hype is about this place. It's a bit absurd that it's more expensive than an Equinox membership, which has significantly better facilities/amenities. There's a cult-like feel here which I don't particularly appreciate. I'd say the workouts which are around an hour or less, doesn't really get the job done. There's just one red room from what I can tell, so they clear out the room very quickly for the next class. With regards to form, I'd say the focus is subpar and if you don't know what you're doing, you could easily injure yourself. That's natural when you have 40 people switching exercises/machines constantly, and only 1 trainer yelling with music blasting. If you want attention to form, I'd recommend another workout place, if you want value, I'd recommend another place, and if you want a non-cultish feel, I'd recommend another place.

It’s THE best workout! The team is super nice and there are a lot of different workouts focusing on various parts of the body (leg, arms, ABS). Though the prices are a bit high and it would be great to have more discount for frequent users, other then that, 👍

Never been to a Barry’s before, but I’ll be back. This is in regards to the Fuel Bar / Smoothie bar for now. Ingredients were great quality and was amazing! Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. Good to know we have a healthy smoothie spot in town that in tailored for people who work out!

I’ve been a fan of Barry’s since they came to Boston in 2013 and couldn’t be happier they’re in Seattle now. Class format is unmatched in the workout you’ll get in an hour. Trust me, all levels welcome! Best instructors around willing to make sure everyone gets the best experience.

Barry’s boot camp is my favorite work out in Seattle! I’ve been to every work out class in the SLU area and it’s easily my favorite because of how much it makes you sweat. I love the combination of cardio and strength training and there’s a reason why classes are typically full. The community at Barry’s is heartwarming and you’ll always feel like you can keep pushing yourself to get stronger or run faster. I love the instructors and I can always feel the energy in the red room!
It’s definitely tough if it’s your first time here, but it gets easier once you’ve been to more than a few classes. It’s expensive to go but I think there’s a reason for that! I’ve saved some money by buying a package which feels really worth it.

Think Soul Cycle, but with a treadmill and workout bench. $33.03 for 55 minutes of instructor lead classes in a dark room with loud music and a scented towel as you walk out. My instructor wasn’t very good at communicating the floor exercises and had most of the class looking around in confusion throughout the session. The facility is beautiful and the staff is super nice/enthusiastic to be there but I can not justify the price for the level of instruction received.

Barry’s is great with the right instructor. I’ve been almost everyday since it has opened and have had only one poor experience with a class. During that experience, the instructor was very difficult to follow and everyone was sorta looking at each other for direction. Other than that one incident everything has been great.

I joined Barry's on a whim and I am so thankful I did! I was really nervous because I am definitely on the beginner level. I worried I wouldn't be able to keep up with the workout. The few areas I struggled with I was able to easily modify the paces/moves, and I still walked out with a killer workout. I felt nervous walking in - but every person I spoke to was so welcoming.
The Red Room is intense! It's upbeat and you are constantly moving. I've done similar bootcamp style classes where you rotate between the floor, treads, and rowers - and I was happy that Barry's eliminates a lot of the down time (no rowers at Barrys and the floor workout is more consistently paced). I walked out of a 50 minute class feeling like I got a 50 minute work out, not a 30 minute work out.
The facility is even better! The equipment is great, and the fuel bar has a ton of options. I live next door, but the place makes me want to pack up my stuff just to use the showers and the locker room.
