Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi is a yoga studio in Seattle (Wedgwood) offering holistic wellness classes consisting of yoga, tai chi, meditation, and breathwork based on 5000-year old Korean traditions. We offer a variety of yoga classes for beginners and more advanced classes to energize and heal the mind, body, and spirit.

This is my second year with Body & Brain at Wedgewood, Seattle, and I’m so grateful to have found this practice. I first joined in Boston, and though I’ve tried many other forms of exercise and healing since, nothing compares to what Body & Brain offers for the mind, body, and spirit.

My 1-year membership includes workshops and 1:1 healing sessions, and while the upfront cost may seem high, it’s absolutely worth it. Master Diep, who guides my healing sessions, has been incredibly kind, helping me find relief in many ways, I couldn't be more thankful for her. The workshops leave me feeling lighter, freer, and pain-free.

If you’re considering Body & Brain, my recommendation is come with an open mind and heart, it’s unlike anything else you’ve experienced, and it can truly transform your well-being if done consistently (still a goal of mine)

I joined B&B at this location during a very difficult time in my life (struggling with depression, lacking self-appreciation and confidence). The experience has been transformative. The daily practice in the studio or online has allowed me to regain focus, calmness, peace and happiness of both body and mind. All instructors are wonderful here (Crispina, Martin). I became a member of Body & Brain at the Wedgwood studio 5 years ago. During the pandemic, I continued to practice with B&B on Zoom daily .I like the fact that you don’t need fancy yoga outfits at B&B, you can ust wear something comfortable. Their practice is a modified Korean style of yoga, which includes Tai chi, Qigong. I enjoy learning the Tai chi forms and have found that my balance has been greatly improved with routine practice.
It is great to have a yoga studio right in the heart of Wedgwood’s neighborhood. The yoga instructors at the Wedgwood studio are very nice, and everyone is welcome. I highly recommend Body & Brain yoga’ especially to all seniors who want to improve their flexibility and balance.

I have tai chi every Saturday in the Arboretum. We are outside and surrounded by trees and flowers. Even in the fall the smell of leaves, the squirrels running up the trees - and an excellent teacher - sooo fun and a perfect way to start the day, take in nature and learn the movements. Perfect for whole body - for gentle exercise, balance, stretching and fun to learn. The staff is very good as well. I LOVE IT!!!!! See you there!!!

Even now I would see her from time to time in a Zoom class. She would teach "12 meridian opening". She is great! :)

This is a wonderful place to heal your mind, body and soul. The entire staff is truly genuine. The classes are held at a comfortable pace, allowing you the proper time to learn the movements in a very non-judgemental environment.

I experience immediate results after each class, feeling lighter and so much more relaxed. Thai Chi class on Thursday is one of my favorites! It's very engaging and I enjoy the energy aspects of it as well. Monday night core strengthening is wonderful too!

I'm very pleased with the gradual build up of strength and flexibility that I am starting to see. The investment of time and money dedicated to this practice is well worth it for me personally.

I come from the most classical Hatha Yoga so I was curious to explore something new to improve my personal practice. I was surprise! I found that after taking only one class my mind and body had improved so much that i've made this practice a life long journey and discipline. Through deep breathing, stretching, meditation and healing internal organs, my energy has changed and the stress in my life doesn't effect me as much as it did before. I am more resilient to daily stressors because i found a foundation in myself that is unmoving and solid, and i believe thats because i was able to recover my whole connection of mind, body and soul. Thanks to Body and Brain Yoga and the passionate and encouraging staff there, I see everyday life as a gift to grow and learn. I highly recommend you try a class.

I've been a member of the Body & Brain Center for 3 years. When I started out, I was not doing well, having gone through several surgeries. I still remember my first class, being absolutely amazed at how positiv it effected me: I felt so much energy! I l had so much fun ! Well, for me it turned out to be the perfect combination of stretching, moving meditation, energy circulation, strength training , Tai Chi, Ki Gong...The instructors are amazing and truly care about every person walking through the door. Before Body & Brain I have had severe PTSD and trauma stored in my body and muscles and have not slept for most of my lifetime. I was only able to sleep 2-3 hours and I would wake up in a panic. This was impacting my whole life - I was feeling anxious and depressed with panic and anxiety. Through the classes and one on one private sessions, I was able to release stored negative energies from my body. Now I can rest through the night, for the first time in my life, allow my body to heal and release and replace the stuck stagnant energy that was a big part of my PTSD with positive healing energy.

The Tai Chi class here is a wonderful change of pace from yoga classes or typical martial arts and of course the grind of a gym. Instead of fixating on future goals in training or forcing those stretches, it asks you to be present and move and then the benefits come so much more naturally. It is not often I write reviews, but wanted to share the impact Body and Brain in Ravenna has had on my overall wellbeing.
During a recent appointment with a headache specialist, the doctor recommended I try Tai Chi. A few days later I spotted a brochure for this place at a coffee shop, paid a visit that afternoon, and attended my first class the next day.
Fast forward; during a follow up appointment with the headache specialist, she commented that I am different…in a good way!
I can honestly say that taking tai chi and yoga classes, along with attending a "finding true self" workshop has improved my overall wellbeing and I'm feeling better than I have in years.
Headaches gone, joints loose and am relaxed more often than stressed.
The staff are amazing; excellent instructors and helping people is a calling for them, not just a job.

I've been a member of body and brain yoga for years now.... First a member from a studio in brooklyn... and mentored under one of the instructors there.. She is very helpful... I do private healing sessions and work on my spiritual development ... I was tired of doing the same physical yoga classes without a spiritual aspect and I wanted to go deeper. I enjoy the classes for the physical and energy work and also the meditation. The dance classes are actually fun and the staff is always willing and friendly. I would recommend the Find True self Workshop for newbies.

It is not the typical "yoga." In a regular class, experienced and supportive instructors offer physical exercises that improve flexibility and strength, and classes end usually with some kinds of energy meditation. At the end of each class, I feel physically improved and mentally calmer and relaxed. Several times a week, they also offer Tai-chi classes which are simply wonderful. Old and young - anyone is welcome and supported by great instructors and the fantastic curriculum. Instructors are absolutely committed, current and competent with their work. Great place to find peace, healing and growth.

Body and Brain totally surprised me. I'd done yoga ages ago. This is not traditional yoga. Lots if stretching, so I got what I came for. But I got so much more.

This combines a lot of mind quieting practices in addition to building flexibility. The two practices together bring in new life. Slow me down. Keep me much more present after I've left the studio.

Some come for the stretches, and that alone is worth the cost. If you're looking for a spiritual home without the dogma, try Body and Brain. It won't stress you to go beyond your abilities. Body awareness keeps you within healthy bounds. But when I arrived 9 months ago, I couldn't bend closer than six inches from my toes. Today, I can touch them with my knuckles. Incredible!

But I'm most happy with how my practice has improved my well being, added equilibrium and joy to an already full life.

Did I mention that the trainers make the place? They are all committed to their own practice, and to working with you to progress in yours. Body and Brain is a Ravenna jem. Try it.

I don't know why they put "yoga' in the title - it's not really yoga. Strange belly-jabbing, gut-rubbing, "energy wave" exercises. Some googling connects Body and Brain to Dahn Yoga - a group with a fair amount of controversy in their history. The rebranding makes sense, with that kind of connotation.

I started coming to Body and Brain over 3 years ago, and have been studying the principles and practices of Dahn yoga and more specifically Dahn Mu Do, the Korean form of Tai Chi. My body has developed the ability to feel and use energy. With better body and energy awareness thru consistent daily training, I can feel my bodies ability to heal itself physically and energetically. Whenever you think it is not the right time, or there is not enough time, you are in fact "stuck".
In finding just enough time to regularly come to these classes, my health changed measurably. I required cardiac surgery and was told on the day prior to my surgery that I did in fact not need it anymore. How is this possible? Your body changes and remodels daily, as does your brain. You can create all you can be mentally, physically and emotionally, with regular practice. Many medical studies show this to be valid, and you can make this your reality too. I have been attending this center for over two years for physical, spiritual, and energetic strengthening. This is not the same old yoga that you see at other centers; although they emphasize connecting with the 7 chakras, they focus more on meridian channels than asanas. The result is a program that is based on reducing all the clutter in your head so you can return to your true self.
I have consistently found all of the instructors to be very well grounded in the Taoist tradition of revering heaven, earth, and all living things. The classes keep showing me how much I can push myself further than I would have ever thought, while also showing me how to redirect my focus to my body instead of my random thoughts. It's based on simple principles, not a belief system, and is the perfect antidote to modern daily life.

One of my personal favorites is the vibration class where the tension held in my body is joyfully released and I experience my unique natural rhythm. I have been a member of this yoga studio for around 7 months now and am so glad I joined! My lower back pain and knee pain have disappeared almost entirely. The tension in my neck and shoulders (from computer work) has gotten a lot better. My energy and vitality have improved. And I can notice emotional blockages that I've had since childhood starting to loosen up and release. Lately, I have been feeling lighter and more happy, and the yoga has been instrumental in helping me achieve this.

The teachers are helpful, friendly and very well trained. The classes are well balanced, with just the right amount of stretching, movement and relaxation. I am often blissed out after class. The space itself is bright and clean, and free tea is served.

At times, it seems expensive but for me it has been totally worth it- after all, how can you put a price on health and happiness? Overall I would highly recommend this studio.

I have been practicing Dahn Yoga for about a month now, after finding this center in a new neighborhood I recently moved into. I am recovering from a major accident and surgery, and as such do not have a lot of flexibility. I can honestly say that after attending regular classes (3-4 a week) for this past few weeks, I am able to walk longer distances, stretch further without pain, feel stronger and I have almost no pain remaining from my previous injury. Dahn Yoga has brought back my confidence in myself and my body's abilities, and I will forever be thankful for that. Along with this, these classes are a fantastic stress reliever with a very calming atmosphere, and lovely people to socialize with. Has anyone got refund from this center? At that point they talk about your weak points, and discourage you, and pretend they do not understand you. They want you to join spirit,/mind/body opening workshop for 1 or 2 days for $ 300 and above. Dahn yoga is after your money and not your health. My daughter took me to this center and I joined for a six month course, but Hyeran wjn, who enrolled me, concealed the fact that if I do not like the class, I should cancel the subscription within one month. But, anyway, I had to go to India for a 5 week period,,which happened within the one month period. I requested her to refund my money, and will join the class again, when ready. At that point, she was insisting I bring my daughter, so that she could talk to her, and she started talking somethings else.-, about my health blah...blah. From the begining, after, every class, she would take me aside and force me to join their weekend one day classes for $250-300 etc. It was a constant affair. i was frustrated. I didnot enjoy any of the classes,She asked me to take one or two or three year subscription, and when I told her, I will be leaving the country within a year, then what about the money, she replied, that will be worked out, do not worry. So, now what, I cannot even get back part of my 6 month subscription, then what about the huge amt you pay for the yearly subscriptions. They are after the innocent. They are deceitful. It is not yoga at all. Plotting to get at you and cheat you. Now, I am not going to classes, and have requested for refund, but still no reply. I do not think any one can get a refund from them once the money is paid, because they are liars.

The Ravenna Park Dahn Yoga Center is in a very special and accessable location in Seattle, Wa. From the outside of the building to the inside, it is very modern and beautifully put together. The masters are all so warm and kind. I participated in a Shim Sung (finding your true self) workshop. I got the chance to open my heart and focus on me. In a partnership, we played many creative games that challenged our bodies and minds. I got the oppotunity to release alot of built up emotion in a positive loving nurturing environment. So I thought I give it try. I went in for a free trial class and loved the class. The instructors are friendly and thoughtful, yet the classes are energizing and fun.
