I had to CANCEL my MEMBERSHIP. The customer service and staff is TERRIBLE. The worst thing was the cafe selling pastries that had contact with flies🤢l wanted to buy a chocolate croissant but there was lots of flies around it so I asked the man at the register if he was going to sell me it from the case with the flies and he actually said “yes” 😟I don’t know if he was aware or couldn’t see but there was a swarm of flies and I should of taken a picture- They probably don’t even wash their hands before preparing meals… Anyway I’ve came in multiple times and noticed zero “welcome in” or acknowledgment of my presence or my friends but they seem to always greet certain races 🙃Yesterday coby or koby don’t know how it’s spelled was so incredibly rude and did not apologize for any of the inconveniences me or my sister experienced and even blamed my mother when she failed to provide sufficient information. Koby was so rude and also made backhanded comments as I was walking out to speak with my father. Naomi who helped us after was also still condescending. I wasted an hour of my time because of kobys incompetence and excuses. The gym and bouldering is always fun but absolutely unprofessional staff which is a shame because I really did enjoy this place but it’s also gotten more crowded every month so it’s not even worth the price anymore.

Can’t believe it been 6 years since my first time stepping into the SBP Poplar location. This place holds a special spot in my heart.
There’s been many changes but the one thing that stayed consistent was the community. From a one time fling to a routine hobby.
I can’t express how deep my appreciation for all the staffs and employees that works here. Without them, I wouldn’t have stayed this long.
I have tried every gym in Seattle and none of them come close.
The gym offers a versatile set of walls and climbs for all different styles and levels . Whether you are a beginner or pro there’s a climb for you.
If you end up climbing everything in the gym, there are multiple boards you can climb on . If you find yourself bored of Climbing, you can always work out or participate in their many classes.
This gym really feels like a second home. There are showers here. Oh forgot a towel? They provide towels, shampoo, conditioner, and soap.
Don’t want to shower? Try the sauna. Hang out at the cafe or relax in the mezzanine.
The only downside is that you have to eventually leave. For real though, it can get very busy here and the parking is difficult in the afternoons.
I would recommend checking the busy times and planning your trip accordingly .
Overall, I can wholeheartedly recommend checking this place out. If you’re looking for something new to try or a hobby to get into, this is the perfect place.

Great gym with friendly staff and lots and lots of sets. Contains and upstairs with seating, and a downstairs with a kids area, gym, cafe, sauna, and yoga studio. However grading is very soft here

Solid gym. 2 Floors of climbing. Staff was kind. Would come back.
The grading system is in groups of 3 like V2-4, V3-5.
The purple: V3-5 if I remember correctly were on the softer side but plenty of harder and easier climbs as well.

There has been multiple theft cases at this SBP location within my climbing group. Our cloths and thermos were stolen. The staff were very unhelpful and said they couldn’t do anything about it. If you can’t stop theft from happening, maybe put lockers instead of cubbies in the public area? People are paying a high membership fee for using this facility but SBP doesn’t seem to care about the prevalent theft issue

Best gym I've been to in the Seattle area! I don't even boulder (maybe one day) but SBP has everything I've been looking for at a very reasonable price: a roomy weightlifting area + cardio machines, showers + sauna, a yoga program that rivals any local studio, and a cafe that I can grab a coffee and cowork at. Plus, anytime I've even thought of a potential improvement, it's been solved by the next time I'm there (like replacing the run-down yoga mats with brand new Manduka ones). It feels rare these days to find a business that continuously invests in its space and community. Happy to be a SBP member and plan to be for as long as I live in the area!

Awesome gym for bouldering, yoga, and weightlifting. They’ve got two floors of bouldering space with good routes that change often enough, a surprisingly good strength training gym, and side rooms for yoga.
Staff is always helpful and friendly. They helped find a precious Nalgene that I’d left behind once. And finding a specific bottle here can be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
The only reason I didn’t give five stars is the parking situation and crowds. The gym shares a lot with a few other businesses, so finding a spot during peak hours can be tricky.
As the name suggests, it’s a bouldering gym, so if you’re looking for top rope or lead climbing you won’t find it here.

My 11-year-old son recently discovered a passion in climbing. We have been unlimited members now for a few months. I cannot say enough good things about SBP. SBP staff are consistently helpful and positive. They are supportive and encouraging of my son's climbing. The people who go there are also extremely kind and encouraging with my son. SBP was created a really wonderful community.

Definitely a cool facility with lots of amenities but as a guest the experience I had was really, really bad. The staff were cool. It's close to the freeway.
My experience entering the gym was marveling at the industrial chic of the interior followed by the displeasure of using the grimiest, stickiest keyboard known to man for the waiver.
For the gym itself, the mats are pretty bad (like wouldn't trust a significant fall to them bad) but the climbs are good. Their grading system isn't to my liking as nothing is directly labeled, just color coded on a loose, progressive gradient. The setters utilize a lot of dynos, or did when I visited. I'm not sure how often the climbs are set but a lot of the warm up climbs were GREASY.
The community/culture at this gym was AWFUL.
After I'm introduced to the gym and the rating system I begin looking for climbs while maneuvering around a small concert worth of people. Probably 200 people shouting over each other, people leaving books, game consoles, purses, food, and other personal objects strewn about the floor, people eating on the mats, and some people resting underneath overhangs preventing people from climbing. Really inconsiderate.
To add to it all: my chalk bag was stolen and someone attempted to throw away my metal water bottle. Not a place I'd leave my phone unattended at. There are lockers for larger belongings and tiny lockers for your phone but it seems anything not bolted down is fair game for other people to mess with.
I'm not sure if this is a one off experience or what but there is no universe in which I go back to this gym. Generally unpleasant experience, climb at your own risk - plenty of other places in Seattle.

HUGE. Literally more climbing that you can do in a day. Absolutely love it. They have a study area, a pub/cafe, a massive training area, a bunch of training boards, and every wall type you can imagine. A climbers paradise.
Only negatives are the location not being in the nicest neighbourhood and parking being annoying when it is busy.

Poplar: most variety of routes, large area with lots of gym equipment, plenty of yoga and fitness classes, plenty of parking, sauna separated by gender, only location w a cafe, large dedicated work areas, towels/shampoo/conditioner/body wash provided
UW: 2nd best for variety of routes, small workout area with a limited selection of equipment, unisex sauna, only location w ice bath, dedicated area to work work, towels/shampoo/conditioner/body wash provided, parking difficult to come by, yoga and meditation classes available, don’t think there are fitness classes here, looks like the only location w Pilates class
Fremont main: 3rd best for variety of routes, gym + equipment is slighter bigger than UW but less than Poplar, no sauna, a small area to WFH, fitness and yoga classes available, towels not provided, and the handicap shower stall is the only one w shampoo/conditioner/body wash while the others have a 3-in-1 wash, parking hard to come by
Fremont upper walls: 4th best in route variety cause it’s smaller than all the other locations, which means it doesn’t smell like feet and sweat, smallest workout area + equipment selection, don’t see yoga and fitness classes offered here, no showers, no dedicated work area to work
Loads of community events for adults and kids :)
Deducting a star cause
1. the ventilation system needs improvement for all locations except the upper walls. Smells like sweat and feet. Difficult to tackle because all locations are very busy except for upper walls.
2. for the hefty price that goes up often, i hope staff is getting a living wage ($25-30/hr), buuuuut something tells me they don’t

I’ve been going here since moving to Seattle and recently signed up for a membership. Overall the locations are pretty good with a large amount of routes that are updated often. The routes span all difficulty levels and have something for everyone, and I enjoy the creativity of the routes. They also offer yoga classes with different vibes which I regularly attend with provided mats and blocks. There’s also places to sit and do work or chill.
The only negative would be that the membership guest passes can’t be used on the same person within a certain time period unfortunately.

I have been a member of sbp for almost 2 years and it’s been my favorite gym I’ve ever been to. SBP does an incredible job of building community. I have made so many friends since my intro to bouldering class, yoga, and strength training classes. I always meet someone new or an established friend at the cafe. SBP makes fitness fun and engaging not only for my body but for my brain. I love doing the problems and watching myself level up on the walls. My favorite part about SBP are the classes. Billy in particular who heads the fitness program has been encouring in the strength and conditioning classes, which I was hesitant to join at first because I never did a class like that before but now I love it and love pushing myself. Douglas who teaches yoga is one of the most knowledgeable practitioners I have known. I am a practicing Hindu and appreciate the respect, knowledge, and care he brings to the practice. The best part of his beautiful harmonium during meditation. I would recommend anyone to SBP who wants to have FUN in movement and finding their fitness journey. I never identified as someone who was athletic and driven in my physical practice until I started coming to SBP and I am so grateful.

I was visiting from out of town with my 4 year old son and he had so much fun we went back for a second day. I had the pleasure of meeting Kobe - one of the employees. Kobe was awesome and super helpful and kind.

Been climbing at this place for almost 10 years and it just feels like a greedy cash grab now. Huge price increase for memberships in the last 2 years (without a corresponding increase in quality) and now they’ve added strange restrictions on guest passes. Not the place it used to be.

I loved this place, but they kept increasing the price while decreasing benefits. $60 start up fee, $10 per month to pause your membership (and you can only pause it for one calendar month, no more no less, so if you are travelling for 4 weeks and those weeks happen to overlap two months, you don't have any good options), and most recently you can't bring a guest more than once per 31 days even though you have two guest passes. I used to be on the discount payment option, but I was given some bad advice by the employee when I was going to be unable to climb for three weeks - they told me to cancel and reapply. Needless to say that did not work. I saved up some birthday money to afford the full price in July. I justified the cost by telling myself I could use my guest passes more often and cover for my friends (girl math or whatever) but now that's pretty much useless to me too. I can reasonably afford to pay for the membership every other month now, but paying the $10 to pause for half the year means I would be paying $60 a year for the benefit of doing nothing. I'm going for my last climb tonight with plans to cancel and I'm really bummed about it.
(Edit, they wouldn't let me cancel 😂😂😂 edit edit after one more month I was able to cancel)

The price of this gym(30 USD) is not reflective of the quality of this gym.
The setting is somewhat bland and shows a clear lack of expertise within the industry -- or perhaps willingness to learn new setting technique, hard to say.
The holds are also pretty old and worn and are from some pretty old hold sets. Which surprised me a lot for such a big gym chain with so much money that charges an absolute premium to enter.
The walls are straight out of the early 2000's in terms of quality and upkeep. You'd think this was a struggling small town gym if you saw footage of it from someone on TikTok etc.
There needs to be serious overhaul of this gym and I assume all of its locations, or a serious reduction in the cost of the entry & memberships as it would more accurately reflect what you get by attending this gym.
I would not recommend this gym to anyone travelling here internationally, it just won't be up to the standard of gyms outside of the US.

Facilities are good but they keep upping the prices and now have made it so guest passes come with the caveat that even though you have 2 of them, they control how you use them. You can’t bring the same person within 30 days, so even if you pay new dues for a new month you can’t bring the same person you did last month if it hasn’t been 30 days.

Wow! Used to climb here but 2 things happened: my partner injured his back in February with a herniated disc condition and the management was completely unresponsive and didn't want to honor/freeze his annual membership which ended up going to waste!!!
Second, their prices went up by so much. I paid 150 for 10 pass early this year, and it became 275 now. The same for their annual membership.
They are trying to squeeze money from you without providing any support.

For a gym that advertises itself as an advocate for increasing access to the sport, I find it comical how often and how much they raise their prices. Especially when their guest experience continues to decline. The youth program runs rampant, they’re constantly out of towels for the sauna, and the cardio equipment is more times than not out of service.

Used to climb here all the time. Memberships and day passes and everything are all just unbelievably expensive. Just a place for rich tech bros to hang out at this point and hipsters whose parents have paid for their rent since they left the house. A lot of people also just treat this place like a fun date night place rather than a gym. And for members all the stupid events that have no place at a space intended for progressing your physical ability make SBP feel more like a theme park than a gym. And it’s honestly priced like a theme park.

HORRIBLE EVENT MANAGEMENT
If Boulderfest 2024 is Poplar Bouldering’s idea of handling a major event I can only imagine how poorly they manage the gym on a daily basis. Staff and volunteers, on the other hand, were great.
TLDR; Great routes, but atrocious and cheap event coordination. Management was unresponsive, giving their own team no guidance on how the event should run. This felt like a cash grab, with no regard for competitors.
Review below based on management of, and quality of the recent event.
Food, beverage, and vendor village:
For one of the most heavily sponsored climbing events I've seen—RAFFLES with Scarpa, La Sportiva, Yeti, FrictionLabs, OrganicClimbing, plus Arc'teryx giving out hats if you spun a wheel and followed them—why was ZERO effort put into the vendor village?
Here’s a list of their so-called “vendors” for Friday and Saturday:
TLDR; They may have paid to keep the café open, but that’s it. It looks the same on any other day. Arc'teryx, Chicken guy, and snack company was only there for Saturday (No mention of this online)
Arc'teryx: A tiny, two-person table with a mini spin wheel where you might win extra raffle tickets, a high-five (which I "won"), an extra spin, or a hat (my fiancée actually won this).
Their Café (of course).
Grip Test Booth: A pull-up bar and grip tester where the longest hang/highest grip wins a prize.
Snack Company: Giving out free samples to promote themselves.
Youth Team Booth: Selling old/lost shoes and chalk bags as a fundraiser.
Chicken Quinoa Vendor: $15-$20 USD for one menu item outside.
Beer Booth.
Imagine paying $110 CAD and traveling 8 hours round-trip across the border, only to find out the “vendors” only showed up on Saturday (again, no mention of this online). And the so-called "all-day party"? It was somehow even more disappointing than a limp salad at a buffet you paid full price for, while last year’s FREE event at my local gym was far superior.
Management:
Here’s my experience of getting one coherent response from them:
Bought a ticket but got no confirmation email. Followed up by email and called 4-5 TIMES OVER THREE WEEKS, only to hear the same tired excuses:
September 28, 2024: “You’re next in our system, they should reply today.”
October 2, 2024: “You were caught in spam; we’ll bump you to the manager, hopefully today.”
October 5, 2024: “We’re having email issues; hopefully they’ll reply today.”
By coincidence, I called when the assistant manager was around, and she confirmed I was on the list—just three days before the event, after weeks of silence. Planning a trip from Canada without confirmation is absurd.
Event day:
The two-day event was pure chaos. Staff and volunteers were left clueless. We heard different things about prizes, but essentially, we were told they’d be awarded at the end of the 2 pm Saturday session. We stayed an extra day, wasted 8 hours waiting around Seattle, only to be told, “There are no prizes; results will be posted online in 4 days.”
Many of us traveled from Canada to compete, and whether people win or not, competitive or casual, they deserve to know their standing, especially after paying $110 CAD and dealing with brutal long-weekend traffic.
Take your money elsewhere. This gym doesn’t value its customers and seems entirely focused on maximizing profits at all costs.

I love SBP. But for the love of god, please stop changing policies and price hiking with zero to little notice.
$15 a month increase, and a policy change on guest passes only being able to be used by one person every 30 days is actually ridiculous and anti consumer. Gyms are busier than ever, and day pass price increase should be helping with bottom line.
Since I joined 9 months ago I have not once felt valued as a member, and these changes have made me sour so bad on what was such an exciting community to join.
The SECOND they increase gym prices again without notice I will be bringing my business to another local gym where I feel valued.

- does not update operating hours. Entire gym including weights and cardio section was closed off for boulder competition, which was unnecessary and inconvenient for paying members. no info online.
- parts of gym are regularly closed off for kids for long periods of time
- poor regulation of adult to kid ratio. Adults not properly educated on gym safety, allowing kids to run around climbers, almost causing accidents
- slow to update routes; some walls can take months to refresh

Gym is pretty good, and the sauna is a huge benefit, but I will not be going here in the future for two reasons:
1. The prices are becoming astronomical. 6 months ago I purchased a student 10 day punch pass for $180 after tax. The student 10 day punch pass is now almost $250 after tax! Memberships have also gone up significantly.
2. It's been getting much busier, especially during peak hours. Last time I went I spent more time waiting to climb a route than actually climbing.

Pros & Cons
Pros: a climbing gym staple in Seattle, I first climbed here when this was the largest bouldering gym in the US. 2 floors: Multiple walls, spray walls, kilter boards, large gym area, yoga, workout classes, sauna (in locker rooms), hot food and drinks available. 2 kids climbing areas.
Cons: this gym has gone down hill since I first came here in 2017. Why does the sauna close an hour before close? It’s one of the main benefits of coming to this gym rather than any other. There’s many other gyms in the area that are cleaner. It’s really obnoxious when the gym staff starts passively aggressively trying to usher people out of the gym over an hour before close. If you advertise the gym is open until 10pm, start closing at 10. If you want to close at 9pm, 9:30, 9:45, 9:55, change the closing hours. There was a female staff member in the girls locker room closing up at 9:45 and in the men’s locker room at 9:55…change your advertised work hours for your employees. It really creates a negative unfriendly atmosphere that doesn’t align with climbing culture. Stagger your shifts or start closing at 10pm as advertised.
It gets incredibly busy during peak hours 4-7pm and it is dangerous. The orientation for new climbers does not teach them any climbing etiquette I.e. not to walk under other climbers. One guest pass/ mos to guests who haven’t been here for over 30 days. Generally, unclean facilities.
Notes: PSA to all those new to a climbing gym - it is absolutely normal for climbers to walk around barefoot.

Going downhill. They’re a big chain now so that comes with all the good setters leaving, lots of price hikes, and a new guest pass policy where you can’t bring the same friend twice. The holds are greasy because they don’t reset enough. I switched to Uplift and it’s way better.

Been here for about 5 years. They’ve increased the price of membership a few times, and recently reduced guest pass benefits from two guest passes for any person, to only using one guest pass per unique person every 30 days. A bit misleading, but the effect was supposed to take place after August 1st, 2024, but since my guest had already gone within 30 days, (although it was before August 1st, 2024.), we weren’t able to use a guest pass. The parking is pretty terrible. The good things about the gym are the staff, new boards, improved setting, and spray wall. However, we will be moving to edgeworks.

I’ve been a member since 2019, and sadly, the service has declined over the years. Recently, I needed to cancel my membership but was informed by the operations supervisor that cancellations must be done before the 26th of each month. I missed this deadline by a couple of days and was subsequently charged $115.
I was not previously aware of this policy and hoped for some leniency given the circumstances, but my request was ignored. Since SBP went corporate, it seems the personal touch has been lost.
If you’re considering a membership here, please be aware of the cancellation policy and ensure you cancel before the 26th to avoid any unexpected charges.

So, rhe gym is amazing, the workers are wonderful and the community is perfect. However, after annually raising the price by $10/month year after year and nerfing the buddy benefit privileges, I finally decided it wasn't worth it to me anymore.
On top of it, cancellation feels just about impossible. Instead of being able to login and cancel, you have to submit a request for cancelation — I have no confirmation email or anything from them, no way of knowing if I was successful or not.
Great gym, poor business practices. Just be aware of what you're getting yourself into it you have any financial struggles in the future.

Seattle Bouldering Project is fun indoor exercise at its best! An absolutely gigantic space, filled with almost a dozen challenge levels from beginner to damn near impossible, this was the most fin I've had exercising indoors pretty much ever.
The concept is simple. Enter, sign-in and sign a responsibility waiver, rent some special climbing shoes (I don't own my own because I've never climbed before) get a brief training on edicit and safety then you walk around finding dozens of different climbing challenges for the next several hours or until you are so tired you just can't anymore.
It is good to watch others attempt challenges and learn from their techniques or failures. The floors are very deep sponge mats, so falling doesn't hurt much and no climbing wall is very high but the angles and holds make the challenge. No ropes needed but as a newbie, I gotta warn you, climbing shoes suck! They feel like feet binding and are the only thing I didn't enjoy about this experience. The shoes...
There are other activities too, including yoga, lifting and a cafe. They hold special events each week. The events I saw listed on the board were a competitive open climb and arm wrestling!
Your muscles will feel the burn. Interestingly, I felt like people who are slim and fit have the advantage in this sport. Forearm and finger strength is called for and on some challenges, the ability to pull your body weight over walls and even cling to holds horizontally to the ground (eg think of spiderman clinging to your ceiling).

Pros:
Varied options for climbing, coworking space, clean facilities, nutritious food available, opportunity to socialize with friends while climbing.
The showers are hot and clean and towels are provided. There’s a sauna to relax after a climb and it’s not been crowded in my experience.
There are a good amount of affinity groups/ events to connect with folks which make this gym worthwhile.
Parking while taking some time during peak hours is quite large and typically pain free.
Cons:
Inconsistent staff experiences. It feels like management has dropped the ball on training staff to deal with questions and overall interactions with members in a kind and considerate way. I typically leave interactions with the bouldering bro workers considering why I’m a member at this gym instead of another bouldering gym.
Classes:
Instructors have seldomly offered modifications, introductions are sparse and I had one class where the instructor completely ditched me and another beginner to enjoy climbing at his level. When me and my partner said we didn’t know the essentials his response was to “just climb” 🙃
Safety:
No one taught me how to fall safely.
Parents consistently let their kids run around in a way that is dangerous to the children and climbers. Enforcement of parent supervision has not once been heard while I dodge folks with babies and toddlers roaming.
Overcrowding:
At peak times you might as well go home because you will wait among a swarm of people to get your turn. Combine this with the children, and folks who walk under climbers and you’ve got a serious accident waiting to happen. Please do better on this for everyone’s sake.
Overall- I’m climbing here for now because my friends are members but my impression of SBP is undoubtedly being lowered with each negative experience with staff members.

The four main downsides of SBP Poplar are: 1) lack of parking spaces during peak hours; 2) a huge number of people in the evenings after 5 and on weekends after 9-10; 3) constant repairs that prevent you from fully utilizing all areas of the location, while the membership price remains the same; 4) a large number of people in the gym walk barefoot (even without socks!) and the management does nothing about it. Not only is this gross, but it's also dangerous. I feel very uncomfortable doing DB bench press when there's a guy sitting next to me with bare feet. All of this prevents the gym from being rated five or even four stars. Visiting the gym is comfortable only early in the morning on weekends. The rest of the time, visiting becomes a struggle for a spot on the wall or for free racks or benches.

What an amazing place! I bouldered at SBP for many months before my move to the EU. Great memories of this place. I loved how spacious it was, the routes and the diversity in classes available. The staff are a fun bunch too. I have been lucky enough to boulder in gyms across many countries, and SBP remains my favorite climbing gym thus far. I also think its very high value -- you get a lot for what you pay. Keep doing what you are doing SBP! Seattleites - Cherish this gem.

Highly recommend for anyone interested in climbing or just general fitness!

Extremely disappointed in the way SBP has handled deadnaming one of the competitors at their last boulderfest. It’s an honest mistake that would’ve taken seconds to fix. We did triple check to make sure it wasn’t a mistake on our end, and it was stated several times when they entered what their preferred name was. I understand how busy they most likely are, but for a business to advertise how inclusive they are, it’s super disappointing. My partner emailed twice before getting a response saying that they’ll get it changed. And then no changes were made, I reached out a few weeks later and didn’t get any reply. It’s a bummer that my partners first time joining one of these events was soured by this experience. I also never leave negative reviews, but I didn’t know what else to do at this point, since going through the proper channels doesn’t seem to be working.

The largest bouldering gym in Seattle. Some decent routes and a huge variety. Boulder fest was amazing. Watching Sean Bailey and Quinn Mason compete with some of the other local athletes was an experience we won't forget.
The youth competition was overcrowded and chaotic. Crowding all the kids into one session did not work well. My son did not get to try on some of the routes due to shared routes between MYD and FYD. We will skip this competition next year if it is combined.
The young kids area is the best in Seattle two separate spaces, so even if there is a birthday going on your kid can climb. They have a slide and cave area that the kids enjoy. Recommend if your kids is new to climbing and wants to have fun.

The bouldering part of the facility is top notch and this place could be great, but the entire complex is far, far, far too crowded, and at some point they should stop accepting new members or cap visitors daily. No parking is available during busy hours (which is anytime 5pm or later) and I was so stressed out trying to find parking for a 6:15pm yoga class, that I just skipped it and left. Shockingly there are people barefoot in the gym and throughout the facility, which is disgusting; there are children running around in the way (and literally babies in the climbing areas, why are there babies in a gym); the gym is sub par at best, but this is a bouldering facility so I guess the old gym equipment is a bonus, which is fine. There is a sauna in the locker room, which is super nice, but it's the only sauna I've visited across the country over the last 20 years where bros talk non-stop rather than relax in silence. Just far too many people for this to be enjoyable or to make a membership worthwhile. Kudos to them for raking in the money tho. Capping daily visitors would make for a much better experience. When you can find parking and if you don't mind crowds and children, it's a fun experience.

Visited the gym during this international bouldering day, so the entrance was free.
Overall, it's a great gym. The place itself is enormous with multiple bouldering halls upstairs and downstairs, as well as a gigantic workout area downstairs.
There were a bunch of people there and they had a few events going on. The vibes were decent (although typically forced and not that authentic - but that's just PNW culture).
Despite the gym being full, it didn't feel too packed. I visited in the afternoon, and imagine that it gets unbearably busy at night.
One star off for the setting, which was extremely unimaginative, repetitive, and straight up boring in most of the gym other than a few cool but super hard V6-8 in the overhang. Would greatly benefit from more creative setting. A gym of their size shouldn't bore you the first time around.
Overall, great experience.

Great place, writing a review because I’m in the gym rn and the announcements are way too loud and go on way too long, I understand wanting people to leave the gym on time but having over minute long announcement that is 20 seconds of timing and significant information while the rest is just passive aggressive remarks which are aimed at the very few people that would stay past closing but all of us have to listen to this super loud minute long complaint, since you insist on making the announcement over power noise canceling headphone I at least ask they just get straight to the point, can really kill a workout when it’s coming through louder than my music. I read about theft issues in some reviews. I would suggest going in during a less busy time so that you can use one of the code lockers or bring your own locks. There aren't that many lockers. Also if your bring your own lock make sure it is not the one I used. The lock I had was too thick.
There is wifi if you chose to use the coworkers space. I am not sure I would cause this place does smell like feet.
Overall I like Bellevue edgeworks better. The Fremont location has worst parking but felt cleaner. This location has probably the better gym than most bouldering places I have been to ( around 7 some in US and Japan). Lots of squat racks and free weights.
Parking here feels sketch cause a more industrial vibe. Also right off of rainier area. They have bike poles for you to lock your bike if you chose that form of transportation.

Meh - I've been to multiple bouldering gyms before in the US, Canada, Europe, and Korea and have to say, I am very disappointed with both this location and the Fremont location. Feels like a total waste of money, I won't be renewing. There are very few routes per level, walls with lots of empty space instead of holds and routes. Not many experts to watch and learn from either, tons of tall people climbing standing up and with their biceps instead of their legs and back.

I never knew climbing could be so fun until I came to SBP poplar.
The only two downsides are:
1. They have good fans, but no AC, so it can get hot in the summer. I go early so this isn't a problem. EDIT: they are adding AC!
2. They are so ridiculously good at what they do that the place can get pretty crowded on the weekends and on weekday evenings. Again I go early so this isn't a problem.
The route setting is dynamic, fun, and challenging, they have a great gym, friendly staff, fitness and yoga classes, and a truly enormous amount of bouldering.
The routes are easy to identify (by color) and they have more than enough routes for both beginners and experienced climbers.

More of a day care than a gym. I have found a new place to climb after getting tired of being hassled by toddlers, stepping on toddlers (not hyperbole, they run right under your feet), having toddlers run under me while I’m about to fall, etc. (I think it’s great when kids come to the gym to climb; that’s not what we’re dealing with here).
Rather, parents seem to have decided it’s okay to let their toddlers run around unsupervised while the parents climb. Zero regard for others’ enjoyment of the gym (or basic safety).
SBP made a conscious decision to encourage people to treat the gym like free day care. We’ve complained and asked SBP to please remind people the gym is not day care. Again, we don’t have beef with parents who bring their kids to the gym so the kids can climb. If you bring your kid to the gym so they can climb, more power to you.
No, I’m talking about letting the 2 year old run all over the mats, touching people’s phones, grabbing people, disrupting people’s routes, etc., while the parents are off enjoying themselves oblivious.
We now climb at a different location that doesn’t allow unsupervised kids.

I recently visited SBP, and unfortunately, I would not recommend bouldering at this gym.
1. Our bag was stolen and the staff did not react appropriately (3 other people had their stuff stolen that night as well). The staff claimed that they had just installed new security cameras, but they were not cooperative in providing footage to us or the police who were following our case. I don’t understand the point of security cameras if you don’t use them to prevent or follow up on a crime.
2. The mats are very soft (which is actually much more dangerous than stiff mats). I did not feel safe at the top of the wall and felt forced to down climb every route. I was disappointed to see that the gym was not providing adequate safety measures.
3. With regards to the actual climbing, I found that the setting felt more aesthetic than challenging. While it's great to have a visually appealing gym, the primary focus should always be on providing high-quality climbing routes that are engaging, interesting, and appropriately challenging for a range of skill levels. I found the routes at SBP to be lacking in this regard.
4. Finally, the gym is very crowded, despite its large size. I found that there was not enough space to move around comfortably and I had to aggressively compete for time on the wall.
Overall, I would have to say that my experience at SBP was pretty negative. While the gym has some good points, the safety concerns and other issues I encountered outweighed them. I hope that the gym will take steps to improve in the future and provide a better experience for its climbers.

Super underwhelming gym, did not live up to the hype. Most of the gym is closed! Got charged for a full rate for a half open gym, no notice of this on their website. There were exposed holds that could easily cut your skin if you fell or slipped on them. When I mean exposed I mean the underside and edge of the holds, that should be flush on the wall, are sticking out. See the red holds in my attached photos. The exit sign is hanging by thread and is about to fall off of the wall. The mats are ripping and have exposed foam. Some upsides is that is was fairly cool (temp wise) with lots of air circulation. Although I didn't do any classes, such as yoga, it seems that they have lots, more than any other gym I have seen.
I heard many good things about this gym and was very disappointed and will not be returning here.
