British Swim School offers swimming lessons for kids and adults, starting as early as 3 months. Located inside LA Fitness, we're open year-round and welcome both gym members and non-members. You can learn to swim when you’re ready and continue until you’ve mastered the skills. We use gentle teaching methods and a survival-first approach to help swimmers of all levels become safer and more confident in the water. Our safe, fun, and effective teaching methods have made us the preferred choice for parents and students for over 40 years. Our confidence-building curriculum and small group swimming classes provide a consistent format and structure with one-on-one attention for each swimmer. Private swimming lessons are subject to availability.

I had a terrible experience at the West Seattle LA Fitness location.
I was in discussions with one of their sales reps about purchasing a full-year membership and was told it was fine to try out the facility. I brought my son, who is a strong swimmer and has taken lessons before, to use the pool. We stayed in our own lane and weren’t part of the British swim group that was also there.
From the moment we got in, I felt constant stares. Nobody addressed me directly, but I noticed them speaking to an LA Fitness staff member about us. Instead of anyone approaching me with information about services, swim programs, or pricing, I was made to feel completely unwelcome. Eventually, we were told to leave because we were “in the way” of the swim group near the hot tub.
This was not only embarrassing but also very uncomfortable for my son and me. Rather than being treated like a potential member, I was brushed off and essentially told I didn’t belong. They had every opportunity to offer me details about their programs or even invite me to join, but instead, they chose to push me out.
I would never want to give my money to a company that treats families this way. Completely unprofessional and disappointing.

I love this survival style swim lessons. Small classes, great location, bright with a lot of natural light, instructors are great and enthusiastic, happy that it's not a chlorine pool and a salt water pool instead. I don't have to worry about feeling sick while smelling all the chlorine like at chlorine pools and don't have to worry about my kids having skin reactions from the chlorine (which they have had at other pools).
Only thing I don't prefer is having to buy new swim caps each time they move up to the next level because I prefer not to have waste, like what am I going to do with them once they are done with them? They will end up in a landfill.
