Cirque Climbing is hands down the best climbing gym I’ve ever visited! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is welcoming, energetic, and inspiring. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and always ready to offer tips or encouragement, whether you’re brand new to climbing or pushing advanced routes.
Variety of routes: The gym offers a fantastic mix of bouldering problems and rope climbs, with routes that are updated regularly to keep things fresh and challenging.
Community vibe: What really sets Cirque apart is the supportive community. Climbers cheer each other on, and it feels like you’re part of something bigger than just a workout.
Clean & safe: The facility is spotless, well‑maintained, and safety is clearly a top priority. Brushes are available to clean off routes if you prefer a super clean grip.
Training options: Beyond climbing, there are training areas, classes, and workshops that help you build strength and technique.
Every visit leaves me motivated and excited to come back. Cirque Climbing isn’t just a gym, it’s a place where you grow, connect, and push your limits. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a top‑tier climbing experience!

My daughter and I had an outstanding belay training experience thanks to Hope, who was not only incredibly personable but also deeply knowledgeable in her field. From the moment we interacted, she made us feel welcome and at ease, and her passion for what she does really came through. What stood out most was her ability to explain things clearly and patiently—breaking down complex topics in a way that made them easy to understand. It’s rare to find someone who can teach with such enthusiasm and clarity while still keeping it fun. We left feeling more informed and genuinely appreciative of the time she took. We would highly recommend that if you need belay training ask for Hope!

Im not sure if i had something on my head or something but this gym may have unfortunately been one of the most uncomfortable places ive been too. From people staring at me aggressively as if i wasnt allowed to climb there, to the tight packed bouldering area just in front of the bathrooms. Although i will admit it may had just been a bad day for a newcomer of that specific gym to go, i just did not have a welcoming or enjoyable experience.

Great service. Had group of kids w limited climbing experience and staff made us feel welcome and took time to educate on the facility and equipment. Other climbers were very friendly and encouraging. Kids had a blast and all 5 wanted to return for another session. We will be back.

I’ve been climbing here since the gym moved to this location, and I really appreciate having a quality gym close to home. I wanted to comment now because over the past year or so, the route setting has noticeably improved—climbs are more creative and engaging. Kudos to the setting team; the difference is clear and much appreciated.
I also noticed a few negative comments regarding small children in the gym. For context, I used to live near The Circuit gyms in Portland. Those spaces were much larger and even had a dedicated kids’ wall—but the near-constant children’s parties made it a challenging environment for focused climbing. In contrast, I think this gym is appropriately scaled for our community and not suited to large-scale kids’ programming, and I support the management’s stance on that.
That said, I often see families here—typically with one parent supervising while the other climbs—and it seems like a good balance. As long as kids are off the mats and supervised, it feels like a reasonable and inclusive approach.

I went to Cirque for about a year while living in Lacey. To this day it’s my favorite climbing gym and I miss it so much. The employees are down to earth, the people who go to Cirque are welcoming, and the routes are always so much fun. I took the lead class with Esteban and he was a great teacher. I wish I could go back to this gym 🥲 100/10

I’m a professional climber with years of experience scaling walls from LA, Washington, Spain, France, Italy and many more, and I’ve never felt more disappointed in a gym than I did here. I witnessed a staff member named Esteban rudely turn away a family, telling them their 3-year-old wasn’t allowed to play because “kids don’t belong here” and “this isn’t that kind of gym.” The climbing community is built on inclusivity, passion, and play—kids are the future of this sport! To see such a dry, disrespectful attitude from staff was a slap in the face to everything climbing stands for. Professionalism means nothing if you’ve forgotten the joy of the sport. This place is a fake gym—stay away if you value the true spirit of climbing.

My family and I wanted to like this place so much. We used to climb a few years back before having children. My husband and I have been so excited to get back into it, and after moving to Olympia we were so excited to find Cirque. We have only been here a couple of times before we figured out that this is not a family friendly place. Esteban made it clear that there is no designated area for children, and that “this is not that kind of place.” I felt so sad and disappointed by the attitude and especially by the fact that cirque will prioritize people based on sexual orientation, but have disdain towards families with young children (we have a baby and a 3 year old girl who is very well behaved.) My daughter still got looks from Esteban once, when she stepped on the pad by the bouldering area.
On top of it all, bouldering is not allowed for children under 13 and the upstairs gym area is also not accessible to children. The only thing my daughter is allowed to do here is use one of the 6 auto belay routes.
We were about to pay $1400 for a yearly pass and after today’s experience I couldn’t possibly go back there and support this business.

Not Family-Friendly Despite the Inclusive Vibes
I brought my family to this climbing gym hoping to introduce my 3.5-year-old daughter to climbing and kickstart a culture of fitness for us. What a letdown. My daughter found the harness and auto belay intimidating—no surprise for a young kid—but there were no other options. The bouldering area? Off-limits unless you’re 13 or older. So much for a family experience.
We tried to make it work by playing on an empty matted area—doing somersaults, jumping, and laughing. My daughter was beaming, and I was ready to drop $1,400 on a family membership to keep that joy alive. Then Esteban, a staff member told us, “This is not THAT KIND of place,” and that there’s nowhere in the gym designed for children. Apparently, our fun was “ruining the space for other members.” It was a gut punch.
They’ve got a big gay pride flag and host a weekly pride night for climbers, which is great, but where’s the effort for families? Zero kid-friendly spaces, no flexibility, and a staff attitude that made us feel unwelcome. I’m done—I’ll never go back. If you’re a parent wanting to climb with your young kids, skip this place. It’s not built for families, no matter what their “inclusive” image suggests.

Probably one of the bigger gyms I’ve been in with the largest bouldering section I’ve ever seen. Plenty of options for all skill levels. The rental harnesses were very uncomfortable and dug into my mid section which limited my willingness to stay longer as it was painful. Never had that happen at any other gym.

We have been members here for years and we are so lucky to have such a great climbing gym! There is something here for all levels of climbers and a friendly staff and community to help you get started. They are constantly upgrading the gym by adding new holds, volumes, and weight training equipment. This gym is dog friendly, and we love bringing our pup and getting to hang out with the dogs in between climbs. We did a lead class with Esteban a little over a year ago- he was really patient with me as someone who was really terrified of leading and also flexible with our schedules which we really appreciate!

Recently moved over to yelm, and cirque is now the closest gym to me, I frequented climb tacoma before I moved. The atmosphere is very welcoming, and people are very friendly and will help you with problems that you get stuck on. There is plenty of top roping at this gym with lots of variety in routes. There is also a decent amount of lead climbing set up, too and, of course, bouldering. The rating system was easy to understand the facilities very clean. Overall, it is a very nice, well maintained, and fun gym. I will be back again. Likley many times

Too much support for the wrong people with Segregated climb night. Also they are confused on which flag to fly. The routes are not true they are easier than rated. The routes also cross into other routes which is not the correct answer. Will not return untill I see the American Flag flying high and a straight climbing night which is most of America. Too bad they can't cater to being normal and just climbing instead of trying to cater to certain groups.

The best rock climbing gym around when it comes to this part of Washington. Sucks during the weekday you have to have a membership to the gym if you just got the day pass and plan to stay pass 3:30pm, but I still believe it's worth driving down there for an early morning climb. The non-member time rule does not apply on Friday and the weekend

Wow!! What a great place! Both times I have been there I had so much fun, but today was really great!
We got great service!
I took the kids that I take care of there for the day, one of the kids has special needs and I wasn’t sure if he would like it. I explained that the kid might like it or not, and asked if he could try it. She allowed it (after signing waivers 1st) and she was extremely helpful. She helped the kid through everything step, even catching the child. She was great help! After a couple of tries the kid didn’t want to do it anymore, but I was just happy for the opportunity to try.
The or children loved it of course they stayed for 3 hours.
We will be back soon!

Great routes and fair grades. It’s always a balance for route setters to legit set a standard that everyone is happy with in climbing. However Cirque does an excellent job providing easy, moderate, and challenging climbing on all sections from TR to bouldering with the auto belay stations too. Awesome if you have a partner, plenty enough to enjoy alone.
I would definitely recommend shoes, harness and a chalk ball. They have them to rent if your just getting into climbing as well.

Overall a very friendly and cozy gym that is well worth your visit. They had some creative routes in the bouldering area that were fun to work through, but the color-based difficulty scale is a personal pet peeve. I also noticed some of the V2s and V3s felt more difficult than some of the V4s and V5s, but I think it just takes some time to get used to different setting styles. I didn't try out the top rope area. The best part of my experience here was my chat with Christine at the front desk, who was very friendly and conversational about some of the great things around Olympia. Thanks again! 🙏

We want to like this place but it’s hard for my family to enjoy it. They have a minimum age of 13 to boulder. Pretty crazy since every other bouldering gym I’ve been too allows young children to boulder. They said it’s because of the height of the walls but the walls are pretty standard. We don’t lead or top rope so the other option was to use the auto belay. But it seems like they have a pretty sporadic schedule and we went or at 530 pm and they said “we’re doing a class at 6 on the auto belay” so even the things they have available to us get closed down randomly. I guess I’m just bummed to see the local gym not really be good for my family.

It’s a very lovely gym but due to occupancy issues and the staff letting their friends cut the line (when members and guests have been waiting for 40+ min), it can be a bit hard to get into to. Along with that you are pretty much always being watched, it’s an open space so other members, climbers and staff often watch others every move. The staff were nice at first, but, after a while, come off as cold and judgmental. It’s quite a premium price to pay for the membership and not be able to use it due to staff favoring others. They have pretty strict COVID-19 policies which is understandable, but are completely disregarded when it comes to the staffs friends and family. Really love the place but I am disappointed in my experience and the choice of staff.

Very clean and welcoming climbing gym! The staff are very friendly and open to answering any questions you may have. Plenty of options for bouldering, top roping, and lead climbing. There are several auto belays in one section of the gym. They are dog friendly, but the pups are never on the climbing mats or areas. There is a small fitness area on the top floor.
This is a great location for climbers old and new, and for all skill levels. Their memberships include free equipment rentals for the first month which is awesome for people who are deciding if they want to get their own gear. There is a great variety of routes for all levels, and they reset their walls weekly. Though the gym may seem small, I've never had any issues with space or not being able to climb. My fiance and I have had a much more positive experience here than the other climbing gym in the area.

This is a great family friendly place to have an activity no matter the weather conditions. We got a quarterly family pass which gives you free rentals for 1 month at a great price. We feel safe and the staff are friendly. We have mostly interacted with Sam who is amazing.

Always a great experience here. The staff are very patient and helpful and provide as much support as you ask for. Lots of options for all skill levels. We are very new to climbing and we are a family of introverts. Found a new love. The gym is really well cared for and the courses/routes change regularly to keep things interesting for regulars. Will be a regular Summer activity for us.

Small but Nice gym which is why I'm ok with giving them a 1! Horrible staff with no customer service skills. Started off by staff yelling at my 4 year old as we walk in the door for not having his mask over his nose. I couldn't believe the way he spoke to me let alone the way he spoke to a young child. His attitude continued to be disrespectful the entire time like having a god complex. Could have been fun but the staff was so bad to enjoy. Don't bring kids!!!! The staff was so rude from the minute we walked in the door. They talked to my kids with straight anger and disrespect, so disappointed. My kids are only 4,6, and 8. Will never go back.

Kind of crowded maybe look somewhere else if you’re not looking to wait for a specific offer a few minutes a little uncomfortable especially during Covid

Our first time back in here after a couple years and it was just as great of an experience. All the staff are friendly and so helpful. It gets busy but still plenty of room. It's really nice that they do day passes so you can leave and come back as you like on the same day.

Small local gym, friendly climbing culture, good vibes. Currently they are rebuilding the bouldering area, so ropes are what is available. I am visiting from another state and called ahead of time with all my questions so I knew what to expect. I might have been disappointed if I was expecting a bigger facility or bouldering.

Been going here for a few months and I love it. I learned how to belay for rope climbing recently and the instructor made everything very clear. The staff is great and the routes are updates regularly. Awesome place.

They aren't responsible for any bodily harm that happens during your time there but I still would've liked to see someone on the staff bat an eye when my best friend fell 12 ft and tore a ligament in her ankle here. Instead just judgmental looks. Ouch.
