Country music is not a good choice for Pilates. Also the short blonde instructor that plays it is kind of rude.

Extremely dissatisfied with the way management works. Well into my second month I ended up with Peroneal Tendonitis, I have to wear a boot for at least 2 months which won't allow me to do any workouts. I have messaged several times explaining the situation. If I can't attend classes and won't be able to workout due to an injury, not because I don't want to- I am asking for a refund. The answers are evasive and not giving me any solution. My biggest impression is that money is more important than the health of the customer. They charged $25 to put my membership on hold while I was away on a trip for a week and a half. Membership levels have many disadvantages, the cheapest level you can't get classes because the majority are already booked. I upgraded to a more expensive membership to allow me to book in advance, but if you want to attend, say an earlier class the same day...they will charge you extra. Not flexible at all.
The instructors are fantastic, no complaints about anyone.
Overall, I will NOT recommend this place if you are looking for a flexible schedule.

TLDR; I do not recommend Club Pilates to anyone athletic with Pilates experience. The level 2 assessment criteria are not taught in level 1 nor 1.5 classes at this studio. It is absolutely not worth the price.

On a personal note: I felt like this was an experience of age discrimination as I was often the youngest person in class and for some reason someone noted “young, able body tho” on my assessment form after they decided to not recommend me for Level 2. (Most of the assessment form wasn’t even completed)

Full review:
I’ve been an athlete since childhood, have done barre and other Pilates studios for years. I recently moved to Tacoma and decided to try Club Pilates. I am canceling my membership after giving it an honest effort for three months.

I have paid nearly $300 per month for the minimum 3 month membership commitment to have unlimited classes (taking between 3-5 classes/week) for mediocre Pilates workouts.

My whole goal for this 3 months was to test up to the level 2 classes in hopes of them being challenging and allow me to actually drop a bead of sweat or feel some sort of challenging exercise.

Upon signing up for a three month membership, I asked when I could test for the level 2 classes and was told I wouldn’t pass since the instructors “didn’t know me.” This was my first clue into the cult of Club Pilates; why is this form assessment also based on who you “know”?

I believe that testing for form is acceptable to deem admission to higher level classes, but NOT when the form is not explicitly taught in class. The level 2 assessment was quite frankly a joke considering the way level 1 and 1.5 classes are taught. I attended class regularly during my 3-month membership trial with hopes of being approved to start attending level 2 classes. To my dismay, the level 2 assessment was full of questions relating to anatomical jargon that is never explicitly discussed in any of the class formats I’ve taken (Reformer Flow, Control, Cardio Sculpt). I am always open to form-correction, but hardly received any in all the classes I took.

I would not recommend Club Pilates to anyone unless they are looking for very leisurely body movement, whether due to older age or mobility issues. Having lived in San Diego, Durham, and Seattle, I have found MUCH better Pilates studios than this one.

So far in Tacoma I have found La Maison Pilates which is 10x better in terms of difficulty and they still emphasize form with smaller class sizes. It’s a bit more expensive but actually worth the money.

I was extremely disappointed to learn that Heidi is leaving the Tacoma studio. She is an amazing instructor and is one of the main reasons I keep coming back to class. I leave Heidi's classes in the morning feeling great and ready to tackle the day.

I have been a member with Club Pilates for about 6 months now and I absolutely love it. I have multiple autoimmune disorders that are energy limiting and I have found that by staying consistent with Pilates daily I have more energy than ever before. The staff are all very knowledgeable and professional. The classes are always a little different and keep you engaged. Im so glad I made the decision to join!

Don’t ever sign a contract with Club Pilates they only care about money. They don't care about customers limitations and needs. I was told I'd see results in a month, that didn't happen. After, you cancel your membership, all classes are booked. This place is a scam.

Elizabeth was an excellent instructor, thoroughly explaining equipment and movements. The studio is clean, welcoming, and has great music. It’s perfect for all fitness levels. I highly recommend trying the Free Intro Class!

I had been wanting to try Pilates for awhile, and after a breakup and move I finally tried it and LOVE IT! It has given me something to look forward to everyday that I have a class and all the instructors are super sweet and great at their jobs.

My mom and I go together and we especially love Nora! How she explains the different moves, reminds us to engage our core or other aspects, and keeps the class entertaining makes the hour fly by. She’s been a blast to talk to and you can tell she actually cares.

Each instructor has their own “vibe” which is nice too because sometimes it’s nice to completely focus, grind hard, laugh, or feel at peace depending on the day. With a change in work, I’m starting to be able to attend more classes with different instructors. I’m excited to finally be able to try Elizabeth’s class soon as I’ve only been in her training ones at the beginning, but she was very energetic and fun. Ashleigh’s classes really push you, and Linsy’s classes are very calming with her voice. Can’t wait to learn more about the other instructors as time goes on! Different vibes, but always a great workout!

I struggle with body confidence but find working out boring as a former athlete, so I’m glad I found Pilates. I was in decent shape, but have already lost 2 inches off my stomach and an inch off my arm “flab” lol since joining about 2 months ago. I only had the 8 class membership, so I can’t wait to see my body’s progress now that I’m unlimited!

I'm here 5 days a week! I love it . I have the monthly unlimited and it's totally worth it . I have a cyst on my sciatic, so it's been really nice to work out and not have my back hurt during or after. The instructors here are well trained showing you how to work out correctly and even modifications to workouts for any issue you may have that prevents you from being the best version of yourself.

I get shy working out so the fact that these classes are so small is less intimidating. Youre always staring at the ceiling, wall, floor or yourself in the mirror lol so i enjoy that too. it's nice when the instructors walk around and give pointers and motivate you . To me it feel like personal training at a fraction of the cost.

Lately my work schedule has changed so it's nice that there's enough instructors that I can do drop in classes. Friday-sunday classes can be hard to drop in so those make sure to schedule out. Ive had almost all of the instructors and enjoy everyone's teaching. Each has their own style though so make sure to try each instructor with different classes and levels go see who youre more compatible with.

I typically see Jennifer and Ashley and if I do a night class I see ricki. Overall all the employees here are so sweet and make you feel like part of a family. It's the highlight of my day(:

This club is exactly what I needed in my life. The instructors are amazing and I’ve never felt so strong! What’s crazy too is that little things like my feet feel better (I know, weird but when your feet hurt, it’s hard to do anything!). For me, I’ve used this as a supplement to my cardio and weight workouts at other gyms. While they do have strength and cardio here too, it’s different than what I get in my stereotypical gym class. I absolutely love the combo.

I’m really enjoying this program and the community with which it comes. There are a variety of instructors with a variety of styles and personally I think this is a strength. Sometimes I want to be blitzed so I’ll go with a Rikki or Ashley class, and sometimes I want the joyful, intentional, burn of an Heidi or Jen class. All are great, and I look forward to improving my health through Pilates practice, which has already happened by improving sleep, energy, and helping my emotional health through my little bouts of anxiety amd depression. So happy you are here, ClubPilates! Shout out to CoCo, Angel, and all the receptionists. You make it welcoming and fun.
