I have never enjoyed going to the gym so much in my life. Okay, I've never enjoyed going to the gym before at all. Coach Tris listened to my goals, my likes, and my dislikes and has kept me engaged and interested since Jan 2024. I was looking to get stable and strong and I feel pretty damn great.
Me: body fell apart between the pandemic and other depressing life events, worried about losing bone density, terrible at habit formation, really turned off by anything that feels like body shaming or hard selling. I hate treadmills.
Davis Fitness Method: Bright and clean space with greenery, quirky decor, and a big progress pride flag. All the equipment you could want; I do small group and don't have trouble getting access. Steven is constantly upgrading everything. They also have a lot of recovery tools - Tris has been able to help with any stiffness or soreness as part of my sessions (when it comes up, which is rare). The atmosphere is friendly and often a conversation will include everyone there. I don't think I've gone to a session where I didn't laugh. It's very queer-friendly and I think Tris might be the only white employee? Anyway, it's a safe space where you can be your authentic self and there's real diversity in the community.
I've worked with Steven and Long when Tris takes time off, and they're great too. They're all nerdy about the science of their work and making sure you understand why you're doing what you're doing; I see the skeletal and muscular diagrams on the walls get referred to on the regular.
I have no idea if there's a scale in the gym because weight loss isn't one of my goals. No one has ever made me weigh in, and there are no leader boards or contests ...other than knowing that the app Tris uses to track my program will send me a t-shirt when I've lifted a million pounds. Looking forward to it.

A gym can have all the equipment in the world, but will still only be as good as the trainers it employs.
Although the facility is great and offers a robust selection of equipment that meets my needs, my favorite part of the Davis Fitness Method gym are the holistically health-inspired, fitness and people loving staff that keep the place running.
While I personally work with Tris, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and witness each of the trainers working at this facility. Across the board, one thing is apparent over all else - the people that work with you truly care about your goals, your progress, and your overall wellbeing. It makes a huge difference in experience, and makes showing up for yourself that much easier. At this gym you can be sure your trainer is someone else who is also in your corner, cheering you on and reminding you of your capacity for challenging things.
My first and foremost goal joining the Davis Fitness Method was simply to enjoy moving my body again, and not dreading the thought of working out. My trainer Tris has been instrumental in returning me to the joy that comes with movement, tailoring my workouts in a responsive, yet focused way to help me achieve my original goal and identify new ones. I can honestly say my sessions are some of the things I look forward to most in my week, which was not the case when I initially (and somewhat begrudgingly) enrolled myself. Tris has worked with me to find aspects of my workout that make me look forward to returning to each day.
In addition to a renewed disposition to exercise, Tris helps me understand how each movement correlates to my body functions. It helps me understand and create the “mind-body connection” that allows me to feel more confident with each piece of equipment and its respective movement, and how it correlates with the muscle I’m working, and its function. I honestly can say I learn something new with each session.
All said I feel privileged and grateful to work out here, and highly recommend this gym for beginners, folks that have trained all their life, and people looking for a renewed sense of excitement for their workout and goals.

I want to echo the many positive comments other reviewers have made and add some aspects of my own path to Davis Fitness that may be useful for others. I am over 50 and never lifted weights before this year. My preferred exercise has always been yoga, and I never felt comfortable around gyms and weight machines. Two years ago I managed to break my ankle doing an exercise video at home (?!?), and I started weight training on the advice of the physical therapist who helped me build back from that injury. Davis Fitness is a supportive, welcoming community for clients of all ages. Before I joined the gym, Steven met with me to talk about my needs/goals and did a careful functional movement screening. Steven is passionate and knowledgeable about all aspects of his field and has an impressive ability to see exactly what is going on for your individual body when you execute a movement, like a good physical therapist. I have made steady progress--feeling stronger feels great--and I have discovered that I can find my Zen at Davis Fitness, too!

I’ve been at Davis Fitness Method for almost two years, and it’s hands down the best gym I’ve joined.
Steven, the owner, really knows his stuff—he customizes training to each person and pushes you just enough to keep progressing. I’ve seen great results in strength, mobility, and confidence, plus I’ve learned so much about nutrition and training.

What began as a fitness journey has become a true personal transformation. I’ve always had an instant gratification mindset and my fitness goals used to be vague. After trying over 10 different (and pricey) fitness options in Seattle — personal training, pilates, yoga, barre, HIIT, CrossFit, you name it — I finally found this gem. I’ve been training here with Tris for the past two years and I’m at my fittest and strongest ever. More importantly, my mindset has completely shifted. I no longer struggle to find motivation. I genuinely love coming in and look forward to progress every week. In the beginning, I skipped often or didn’t put in the effort but Tris never gave up on me. He kept checking in, tweaking my program and finding ways to help me stay consistent.
And I cannot say enough about Steven. Anytime I’ve had an ache or pain, Steven figured out how to fix it. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, always willing to share and has a gift for encouraging people to be their best. He’s the glue that holds this diverse, welcoming community together. Not a day goes by without laughter in this gym. The coaches are outstanding, the members are supportive and this is hands down the best small business I’ve ever come across in my life.

I’ve been training at Davis Fitness Method with Tris since 2022. The environment at the gym is welcoming and trainers at the gym are knowledgeable and helpful and great at pushing you. I look forward to every session, and have seen huge progress in building strength. The workouts are personalized to my goals and there’s a lot of focus on ensuring I maintain proper form and avoid injury. I have been training at this gym with Steven for almost 5 months now. I joined at the recommendation of my friend and it turned out to be the best decision ever. This is unlike any other gym I have been to. It feels like a nice and cozy personal space and has a great vibe and community!
Steven himself is an amazing person and is really invested in his clients' progress. With all of his knowledge and training, I am already in the best shape of my life right now. He has been giving me so much guidance about all aspects - nutrition, exercises, mindset and anything else! I have lost almost 15lbs of fat so far and am on my way to gain some sick muscle mass.
And not just body building, Steven has also fixed my general issues with neck pain twice already. Somehow he seems to know everything there is to know about the body, lol.
I am sure if anyone is willing to commit from their side, there is no way they won't achieve their goals after joining the gym!

I’ve trained at a number of gyms around Seattle and haven’t made nearly as much progress as I have today. The level of knowledge and support I’ve received from trainers at Davis Fitness Method has allowed me to push myself to new levels, but also learn more about the science behind nutrition and achieving long-term results. The facility is always clean, easily accessible in the city and fully equipped. I would highly recommend David Fitness Method to anyone who is looking for a healthy lifestyle change and sense of community.

Davis Fitness Method is one of a kind. As a person who is early in my fitness journey and as a trans person, I was finding it hard to navigate big box gyms and I was overwhelmed by trying to plan my workouts. But this place solved all of that for me. The unique setup of small group coaching with a beautiful and private location made all my fears go away. I thrived like never before. I have never been more consistent in my life! I look forward to working out now which is something I’ve never felt before. But then you also add fun, caring, and educated trainers who really listen to your concerns and know how to adjust plans to your body… I mean honestly this place is a little magical. I got gains and friendship here. What more can you ask for? If you can afford to try this place out, do not hesitate.

I met with several personal trainers in the Seattle area and in my opinion Steven Davis is by far the most experienced. His detailed knowledge of how each muscle moves allows him to evaluate each client and personalize the training in a way I have not seen anywhere else. He emphasizes correct form, which maximizes workout effectiveness and prevents injury. He also genuinely cares about his clients and takes pride in their progress.
If you are looking for results, Steven will deliver. I highly recommend him to anyone wanting to get serious about their fitness. You will work hard, learn a lot and progress much faster than you could on your own.

Because of the nature of my profession, my favorite activity and my lack of doing any mobility work and exercises as preventative measures to injury, I have a lot of nagging injuries in my arms and shoulders. After working with Steven for just a month on mainly my left shoulder, it feels better than it has in years. I hope to continue working with him and I’m sure I’ll feel better in my late 30s than I did in my late 20s. If you’re on the fence about working with him, don’t be, just do it.

Joining Davis Fitness Method was one of the best decision’s I’ve made since moving to Seattle! The collective classes that the Davis Fitness Method offers have honestly turned my fitness around. With highly specialized knowledge on the human body, Steven has helped me unlock significant mobility differences in my squatting as well as huge gains in the amount I can lift.
The class format is great as the other members are great at encouraging me to do more when Steven suggests I could push further. I couldn’t rave about this format more, especially the focus on lifting as well as cardio conditioning - usually I have found classes that focus on one or the other. If you can’t tell, I couldn’t recommend Davis fitness method more 😄

I have followed Steven throughout Seattle over the years, I am so impressed with the team he has built at David Fitness Method. Throughout the years I haven't been motivated all the time to train, whether that be due to personal issues or health issues. Steven has never once judged me for taking a hiatus from training. He has always been there to answer any question that I may have. Over the last 6 months I've been working intensely with one of the trainers at DFM (Tris) and he has gone above and beyond for me! I was referred to coach Trish by a friend of mine who also played softball. I was looking to tone up, slim down, and get stronger. Approaching my 40th birthday I could see my play beginning to deteriorate a little and injuries were starting to be more consistent. From the first time Coach Tris and I met I could tell i was making a good decision working with him. He listened to my concerns and created a game plan to accomplish my personal goals. Was supposed to start in May/June, but had to delay to end of July due to a back injury. Tris was persistent and despite me not being a client followed up to ask how I was doing. The assessment he did was very different but comprehensive and I learnt about mistakes I had been making despite having had prior trainers and lifting for years.
The sessions so far have been challenging and fun, I am still learning to see how to most effectively leverage the shared coaching model (only 6-7 sessions in) but so far I have been a fan of the work, attention and progress.

I only wish I had started sooner. I had been training for a year by myself and started from barely being able to do knee pushups. I made a lot of progress in a year but the progress I made in 4 months at Davis Fitness Method was SO much faster. I grew a lot.
Davis Fitness Method truly teaches you to work smarter not harder. Quality over quantity. I learned not just what progressive overload looks like week after week but how it *feels* and how different it can actually look in practice.
There is no one size fits all which was the mistake I made while training solo, I followed a very generic program online so I wasted a lot of time, had no focused goals and no one to check my form. I wish I had just started with a coach first to bypass all of that uncertainty and wasted energy from the start.
I didn’t just learn about training, I learned about trust, following my intuition and taking ownership. Conversations go beyond just physical training, it’s about a whole lifestyle and shifting your mentality, I definitely felt supported and safe here.
I just moved to San Francisco but I keep Coach Steven Davis virtually because nothing beats his personalized plan!! All the trainers are incredible and knowledgable, I’m so happy I get to keep this coaching remotely 🥳

I've been training with Steven for several months now and it's been the best personal training experience I have had.
He provides effective training that helps one understand the exercise clearly and what it is targeting. He never overdoes the workout, which I have felt many times with past trainers, feeling exhausted and burnt out and not wanting to come back the day after. Working out with him has made me feel more solid and stable, while feeling and developing muscles I don't think I ever had in the past.
The gym is also a great, open space with a lot of modern and well kept equipment that Steven clearly invests in.

I took an 8 week kickstarter that focused on nutrition hosted by Davis Fitness Method. The kickstarter was focused enabling us to be mindful of our existing diet habits, then incrementally taking small steps in defining new habits to help pivot us towards a healthy lifestyle. I truly believe that this type of accountability and education was exactly what I needed to redefine my perspective on nutrition.
Steven and Tris really do know nutrition. I went all in on being engaged with this kickerstarter, so I asked many questions. I was able to tell that they didn't just hash out memorized responses, but rather understood the core attributes of diet and nutrition in order to apply it uniquely to my lifestyle.
Even in this short of a timeframe, I feel so much more healthy both physically and mentally with the changes I applied to my lifestyle. This 8 week program helped me establish good habits that I know I will continue doing going forward. I'm am greatly appreciative of the supportive environment that Steven and the trainers established during my time.

I started working with Steven 2.5 years ago, initially in person for private sessions, and then did his semi-private classes. From the start, I was hooked. He's created an amazing, welcoming culture at his gym. I learned so much about safe, efficient movement, as well as nutrition and noticed meaningful changes in my body. I started working out with Steven 4 years ago and I can't believe it's been that long. I took a break for a little while and have been for about 8 months now. It's been another great experience.
I work out in a small group setting with Steven who writes me a customized plan every week that is personalized to me. The group is small and he always finds a way to observe and give me critical feedback that's greatly improved my form and execution while lifting heavy weights. I'm deadlifting and squatting without back pain, something I never thought I would be able to do. He can look at me perform a movement and give me pointers on how to improve it and it's spot on and easy to understand. It's pretty amazing. The other people in the group are also friendly and amiable and at all levels of fitness. We laugh while we work out, but we work out hard and motivate each other. It's a lot of fun.
Steven doesn't just focus on lifting, he's also happy to discuss nutrition, sleep, and other factors of taking care of your body. With his guidance, I've lost over 23lbs in the last 90 days and I look and feel the best I have in a while. After I hit my target weight, the goal is to put on muscle and Steven's already laid out an easy to understand guidelines on how I can achieve that. It's hard work and it takes effort, and it's such a great feeling knowing that someone's as excited for you to reach your goals as you are.
I can't wait to never wear a shirt in public ever again!

Steven and the DFM staff put great effort to create an individual plan that works for everyone. A year ago, I had a shoulder dislocation that needed surgery. But with Steven's help, I was able to continue strength training in a safe environment that let me focus on areas outside my injured arm. I believe this helped speed up my recovery as I reached full range of motion with no pain just 3-4 months after surgery. Now, one year later, I’m training both arms again with no issues and I feel healthier than I have in years. I feel proud of my results thus far which friends and family have also noticed. Steven puts an incredible amount of care into his work and it shows. The knowledge he has on technique is rock solid and you can really feel the difference when you a make the right adjustments. Ohhhh my goodness what CAN’T I say about the quality, passion, understanding and hard work from Coach Steven (Davis)!!! He’s incredibly knowledgeable about human physiology. He’s committed himself to actually “doing the work” to understand human movements and any and all muscles involved in those movements so that when coaching ensues no movement is implemented that goes against the actual movement of said muscle(s)!! Simply put, the MF is amazing. I have knee issues and wasn’t able to squat to save my friggin life. 2 months of strict instruction online (and in person) and I’m now squatting a solid 225lbs for reps. It’s not much for my size but it’s a whole lot better than nothing!! I wholeheartedly appreciate Steven’s “build you up from the the bottom” approach. And you will as well if you stay patient and actually listen to his tried and proven Davis Fitness Method!! Lol, I friggin love these guys!!

I started working with Coach Steven when I was 9 months postpartum. After ~2 months, I already notice a huge difference in my physical and mental health. I feel physically stronger than ever - but more importantly, I find that I’m mentally doing the best I’ve been in a long time. In addition, Steven is down-to-earth, easy to talk to, and encouraging. He’s helped me understand that baby steps are the best way to make scalable and long term adjustments to my overall well-being, and I’m so appreciative of that. He’s also extremely flexible and supportive of my schedule - if I’m feeling unwell or taking care of a sick baby in the middle of the night, he always lets me reschedule my session for another date and time - no questions asked! I had been looking for a personal trainer in Seattle for a while and tried a few different places and couldn't be more happier with semi-personal sessions with Steven. I get to do workouts tailored for me with a lot of personal input and advice to go through them. The perfect combination of extremely knowledgeable personal training and a gym with cool vibes.
Working with Steven has been an excellent asset for my journey towards better health and a stronger, more stable body. I have lifted for many years, often under the tutelage of coaches and sports trainers, but I really see my time in the gym as split between before and after my time working intensively with Steven.
The number of things I have learned from Steven is inumerable, whether it be anatomical tidbits that help me decode my pain responses, specific cues to use to help me through unstable/troublesome movements, or just overall mindset modifications to bring to the gym for optimal results and success.

Steven has been monumental in helping me with my form and movements throughout all of my lifts. I came to him with a hurt shoulder after 5+ years of lifting, and admittedly bad form on specific workouts, and with his help I’ve been able to make awesome progress in many areas!
I would highly recommend Steven for any fitness level, beginner to advanced. He will put together a custom plan for you and help make sure you’re working towards any goal you set. The semi-private training is both rigorous and fun, and he checks every detail to make sure your form is perfect before moving on.

Steven has been my saving grace during the pandemic. I started training in the summer of 2021, and I am so proud to be his client. Every Tuesday/Thursday, I start my day off right by working out in the gym, meeting goals, and feeling great. I appreciate his approach to rest and output. Before working out with Steven, I always went for extremes and ultimately landed back at square one. With Steven, we had a gradual approach of getting incrementally better and making sure I was monitoring my stress. I am happy to report that I now wake up with joy before coming and working out with him. He also cares so deeply for his clients and is checking in to make sure we're all okay--it feels like a little family. I was recommended to Steven by some of his other clients, and I've recommended other folks to work with him too. Truly the ultimate low stress, high reward place to train. I've been going to Davis Fitness Method for almost 6 months at this point. I've got nothing but positive things to say about Steven and the team here. The team is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and they are great at helping you reach your goals and tailor your exercises to reach them.
Anecdotally, I had injured my shoulder about a year before going to Davis Fitness Method, and had residual pain that would crop up while lifting sometimes. I had informed Steven of this and he factored this into my exercise routine. These days I can't even remember the last time I felt that pain and instability while lifting. I'm not saying that Steven will cure all types of this pain, but I think he knows how to work around it and make it so that you know how to lift more safely moving forward.

Training at DFM has been a truly rewarding experience. I've been with Steven for the past few years and he's worked with me every step of the way. He's built a safe and effective routine for me which focuses on overall fitness and long-term goals. I've seen myself grow in more ways than just my physique. I have been training with Steven for over two years, and I can't overstate how much I value him.
When I first started out, Steven was training out of an unmarked basement that had no heat. The fact that I went somewhere with no heat in Seattle in the winter months at 6am 3 times a week should be a testament in itself, but I will continue...
Steven truly cares about his clients and their fitness journeys -- whatever they may be. I started from truly square one -- trying to figure out how to push my hips back for a deadlift felt like someone asked me to do long division in my head.
I've come so far since those early days. I have a whole new knowledge base of lifting form, muscle groups, nutrition, and more. I can confidently lift more than my body weight in some exercises, and I had to go down a size in my jeans.
Steven has also come far -- he now has his own gym, and it is heated AND air conditioned.

I've been working out in Steven's small group training sessions for just over a year. I have been a member at many gyms in the past but would never go because I had no idea what to do and little motivation to get into a routine of regularly working out. Last fall, I finally wanted to break that habit and form a new one of regularly working out and strength training. When I saw Steven was opening his own training space, I reached out to him and scheduled a time to meet and do a functional fitness test.
At the end of the test, I was asking questions and asked a specific question about my shoulders, and as he answered, it was immediately apparent how much knowledge and expertise he had. It reassured me that I was making the right choice in working with Steven, and I can say that has only been re-affirmed after working with him this past year.
Steven's education and knowledge let him develop and cater his training to your goals and needs. His passion for fitness and seeing his clients succeed and achieve their goals is evident every time I come to the gym. The small group training sessions are a great way to get that individualized attention and expertise without having someone standing over you your entire workout counting your reps. Steven is someone who has interest, focus and competence in his craft. This is what enables him to not only personally be very knowledgeable, but also makes him an effective teacher.
I started training with Steven having no defined fitness goals in mind apart from improving a prone to injury knee and a murky goal of improving my posture.
Now, Steven helped me build a solid muscular foundation which addresses my initial complaints and amazingly assisted me in starting to build an understanding & awareness of my own body & movement.
Throughout my life I’ve had multiple seemly false starts in weight lifting and fitness that never caught on and became consistent (even though I’ve had personal coaching before). I’m not usually the type of person who writes reviews but with the experience I’ve had at the Davis Fitness Method it’s hard to keep quiet! Steven and Jasmine make the environment so welcoming and for an introvert who had zero gym confidence, this was life changing! Jasmine has been my Personal Trainer for 3 months now and she’s really taken the time to teach/educate me well enough during our in-person training sessions, so that when I go to my home gym I have the knowledge of what I’m doing and why I’m doing it. Having a program made specifically for my body and an app that is easy to navigate was a total game changer! No more wandering around the sea of machines/weights wondering if I’m doing this right or if I should even be doing this. Simply, here’s what you have to do, the reason why, get it done, and be on your merry way. I highly recommend Davis Fitness Method. Steve (Or Mister Davis, as I like to call him) is a super trainer. It's not just that he is an expert in the field (and always looking to improve and learn more) but his level of commitment and passion is top notch. He spends adequate time with each client ensuring their form is correct and that they are getting the most out of their work out. He doesn't allow short cuts! I love that the sessions are not cookie cutter but rather tailored to my needs and goals. Steve is very honest and constructive with feedback and you really feel that he cares about his clients. I have been training with Steven for the past six months and it has exceeded all expectations. I went in with the goal of two things; 1. Recover the strength and balance lost from acl reconstruction six months prior and 2. Change my relationship with working out . Jasmine as been so helpful getting me started from zero in my fitness abilities. I started out very low weights with no understanding of how to tell if I was using the right muscles or not. She showed me the form in a way I could understand and as I got the hang of each new activity, she helped me see when to go up in weight while still maintaining the right form. I've been into fitness for over a decade. Hitting the gym, lifting, cardio, diet. Tried all the shortcuts and hacks; Atkins, keto, intermittent fasting- all with varying degrees of success. Never have I seen the results that I've seen with Steven. The dude takes all comers, listens to your goals, and delivers results. Period. I challenge anyone to find a more knowledgeable, more inspiring, more skilled trainer than Steven.
You know those trainers you see at your gym who look sloppy and soft and you wonder if they've ever even worked out and do all the helicopter coaching standing right over you but can't tell you why it is you're doing what you're doing?? Well Steven is the exact opposite. He's ripped and can answer just about any question about what he has you doing and why he has you doing it.
He's not going to watch your every single set of every single exercise; but he's going to watch you until you get it right, guide you towards corrections, and continue to tweak and adjust your workout as you progress.
If you like to geek out on fitness (like me) he can tell you all about FRC or Palumboism or why certain diets haven't been working out for you.
He's also just a cool, kind, down to Earth and humble person who I've never seen or heard make anyone feel stupid or bad for not knowing something about fitness.
Like with anything else, you'll get out of it what you put into it. Steven is like one of those big corporate 401K plans; he'll match your effort every step of the way. You give a hundred, he'll give you a hundred. You reach out via text, he'll reply. You need him to accommodate an issue (and you're polite about it), he's got your back.
You got an injury? Think you CAN'T do something? I've had "back/hip issues" for years. Never thought I could do a squat or a deadlift. Nah son, Steven helped me with that too.
The environment is CLEAN (can't stress that enough), SAFE (mask and temperature check required), and it's fun.
Without a doubt working with Steven and the Davis Fitness Method has been an amazing experience. I've learned more in 5 months than I have in 15 years listening to every meathead I've come across in the gym who thought they could teach me something just because they could bench 250.
I know I've written too much but dude has literally reignited my passion for fitness and working out in way I didn't think possible.
The best gift you can give yourself is good health and a great body. I've been at this since I was 22 (I'll be 40 in December) and investing in the RIGHT personal trainer is the best decision I've ever made.
If you're thinking about a personal trainer, or your "New Year/New You" plan has gone off the rails, or you're just like "damn, this dude is really on one about Davis Fitness Method..." hit him up.

I think they donot want to serve new clients. Waited outside the building for 10 minutes. Called them to book an appointment for 3-4 times but no response. But I could see him helping others with their workouts from the window. Anyone would call them only during the open hours. But they are unlikely to attend calls during the open hours as they donot respond to calls while dealing with their clients inside. So try your luck to book an appointment during their closed hours by calling them, but I am unsure if they attend the calls during their closed hours.

I've been training with Steven for close to a year, and it's hard to overstate the difference working with him has made.
From our first interaction - a mobility assessment - I knew working with Steven was going to be different. His programming took into account not just my goals, but also my unique limitations and abilities. He's helped me correct my deadlift form, hip thrust more weight than I ever dreamed I could, and crack out multiple sets of pull ups when this time last year I couldn't manage a single one.

If you are on the fence about working with Steven, let me give you some peace of mind.
Steven, even before I was a client, was a wealth of information for me. Everything from diet tips to form education, Steven found a way to present information in an easily digestible, and accessible format that helped me become a better powerlifter and athlete.
As a coach, Steven brings it to another level. I found his knowledge and skill set very intimidating at first; but soon realized that Steven’s warmth and patience were just as much part of his coaching style as his advanced techniques. I was interested in starting rugby and had a menagerie or goals, each of which he helped me hit with surgical precision. My resting heart rate went down to below 80 for the first time in my life, my blood pressure dropped to well within normal levels, and lost 23 pounds while maintaining my hard earned strength with his guidance.
If you want to get stronger, jump higher, run faster, eat better, feel better, look better, and most importantly be a better person, Steven is a great place to start.

I’ve been seeing Steven since 1/1/19. This is the first time in my life that I’ve stuck with going to the gym as long as I have and it’s all thanks to Steven. He makes the workouts engaging so I don’t lose interest. I told him I wanted to start boxing so he incorporated that into my workouts. I want to get lean so he customized a workout routine for me to achieve my goal. When I’m having a bad day he’ll let me cry it out and adjust my workout accordingly. He cares about my overall well-being and doesn’t force me to do things I’m uncomfortable with. If I can’t do a certain lift we make adjustments or figure out a different lift I can do. He never puts me down and he’s always there encouraging me to do better. Highly recommended for people like me who struggle with finding the motivation to go to the gym and want to do something more than a 30min treadmill run. I first met Steven after my personal trainer in Seattle had moved away; I was supposed to workout with him only during that short visit, one of my constant stops in the city (my home base where I hardly spend time these days). This consistent desire to understand and learn, makes him a unique coach; one who doesn't just want to tell you about his findings and knowledge, but who also wants to learn and grow with you during the process. That to me is the best kind of partnership that one can find for such a personal endeavor as it is keeping your body (and mind) in good shape: take it from someone who has been near death a couple of times at a young age, and had to relearn what truly means to be healthy. Every session with Steven is different and capitalizes on a mix of equipment, and even more important, on your own body weight. Steven style is warm and personable; he challenges you to achieve your fitness goals with a balanced approach, both pushing you to succeed, yet patient with the process. I'd always been a runner, but never really learned how to build strength or lift weights. Part of it was just being busy with work and school and part of it was just the intimidation of entering a gym and lifting things while feeling like I had no idea what I was doing.
I've been training with Steven for over 3 months now, and it is one of the best decisions I have ever made. Steven dispelled any sense of anxiety I had about the gym and my own strength level and got me started with a program that was challenging, yet achievable. I'm stronger and there is a noticeable difference in how I move and feel. I find myself eager to go to the gym. Part of it is the fitness routine that Steven helps me work through, but part of it is also his personality. He's always very supportive and encouraging and he has a great sense of humor. He's responsive via text and when work has gotten in the way of my schedule, he's been very understanding. It's kept me motivated to stay on schedule and take care of myself.

I cannot thank Steven enough for all that he helped me accomplish in the past year and a half. I’m a healthy, activity person (30 years old) and unfortunately developed Rheumatoid Arthritis a few years ago in my feet and my elbow. This made it really difficult for me to continue my normal workout routines and regimen. I started working with Steven in the fall of 2018 and I am now stronger and more fit than I was before the arthritis started.
He is extremely knowledgeable and flexible with fitness, diet and mind set. Because of the arthritis in my feet and elbow, it made things a little tricky with our one-on-one workout sessions because I couldn’t do a lot of the “normal” PT exercises. Steven basically invented a whole bunch of exercises and workout routines to help strengthen the areas around my arthritis. I essentially couldn’t lift any weight when we started and now I’m working with more weight than I ever have (even before the arthritis flared up). He’s set me up to now workout on my own and also serves as a great resource if I ever need to check in with questions or add new things to my workouts. He’s a great person to work with – fun, energetic, informative, and kicks your butt when you need it most. I’d recommend his personal training to anyone!

I started seeing Steven due to health problems that needed to get in check. I didn’t know what to expect, but he very much exceeded my expectations.
I started out doing 3 one on one sessions a week. They were difficult, but never intimidating. He would point out faults in my form and really stressed how important good form was to prevent injuries.
I have now moved on to programming. He cooordinates and documents workouts for me weekly, and I can choose how often I want to have a one on one session. I work full-time and in grad school full-time, so I can’t make it to the gym often. To remedy this, he creates workouts I can do from home using kettle bells and body weight.
I didn’t know much about exercising and fitness before meeting Steven. He has important certifications, and a ridiculous amount of knowledge that he continuously pours onto his clients. Everything about Davis Fittness Method is excellent and genuine.

I’ve been playing sports my entire life - grew up wrestling through college, played rugby for the past 12 years, etc. Over the years, I’ve developed a ton of nagging injuries, and so, a generic lifting program wouldn’t be the right fit for me.
I started working with Steven over 2
years ago, and I’m so glad I did. He’s worked through all of my past and present injuries of groin tears, shoulder impingement, torn meniscus, etc. I’m a stronger, better athlete now.

I’m a senior citizen who started working with Steven over a year ago. I have been a life long excerciser but recent injuries had sidelined me for a while and I was losing strength. Steven not only got me lifting again but he spotted some functional movement issues and came up with interesting and unique exercises to address these issues. I’ve worked with a lot of trainers over the years but Steven has a unique combination of vast traditional movement knowledge as well as an intuitive, creative approach to each client’s individual training needs. I came to Davis Fitness Method after 5 years of CrossFit, so of course I knew exactly what I was doing, wrong. Steven took the time to correct all the bad habits that had been ingrained in me and taught me correct lifting techniques and ways to workout appropriately.
