This studio has quickly become one of my favorite places to reset and recharge. Tucked away in the middle of Redmond, it somehow manages to feel peaceful and intimate—like a little sanctuary away from the busyness of everyday life. What sets it apart is their focus on Viniyoga, a therapeutic approach that emphasizes adapting the practice to your body, not the other way around. Every class feels intentional and personalized, with breath-led movement and plenty of support for wherever you are in your practice. The teachers are not only knowledgeable and attentive but also genuinely kind, creating a space that feels welcoming and grounded. Whether you’re coming for mindful movement, breathwork, or quiet reflection, this is a space where you can really come home to yourself.

I have attended 200 hours of in-depth study this year. In this program, I not only learned more about yoga (how to make sure I do each pose effectively and avoid injury), but also learned more about myself—both mentally and physically. I really appreciate our teachers, as well as my classmates. It was a great journey for me to learn and grow together with all of them.

Besides, I also attended classes offered by different teachers before I chose to participate in the 200-hour yoga program. I found that the teachers here are very kind and experienced. You can feel welcome and relaxed here, as the environment helps you feel at ease after practicing yoga. Sometimes people even fall asleep during savasana (the corpse pose). I myself felt really relaxed after each class.

Discover Yoga is truly a one-of-a-kind, special studio. It’s a welcoming place that has cultivated a kind, friendly community. The style of yoga taught is gentle yet effortful. Everyone is encouraged to move at their own pace, which I appreciate as opposed to rushing through poses. Each teacher has their own unique style and there are many classes on the schedule, meaning every student can find something that best suits them. Discover Yoga also offers many workshops on a variety of topics, sound baths, and other events, as well as a phenomenal 200 hour deeper study training. I couldn’t recommend Discover Yoga enough!

Other key positive characteristics about Discover Yoga include: local / small business, woman-owned, easy parking, walkable in downtown Redmond, clean, not heated, professional staff, small storefront.

I am so grateful to the friend who recommended attending classes at Discover Yoga. The class environment is very welcoming. In each session, you’ll learn techniques of moving in asanas with your breath. You will find an opportunity to truly meet yourself and peace at your heart. The ambience of the studio is blissful and calm. The teachers are compassionate and always adapt the practice to suit different body types. Most of all, you’ll have the chance to be part of an inclusive and supportive community.
I completed 200 hours of in-depth study to become a yoga instructor, and it was a life-changing experience for me. I grew significantly, both personally and professionally, thanks to my teachers—Sonia, Sarah, Dr. Patti, and Kristen—as well as my fellow students. I also had the opportunity to attend classes led by other instructors, each with their own unique style.
I highly recommend the 200-hour course to anyone interested in learning the deeper concepts of yoga.

Started going here during my prenatal and continued with yoga after baby. Kristen is such a great teacher! Really listened to what we request to work on and added on some yoga poses that I didn't know I needed. Always felt refreshed after my classes. All the breathing exercises and yoga poses were tremendously helpful during delivery. She was also great for yoga after baby too! Really flexible and helpful with the students who brought babies. It was a good experience on managing body recovery with yoga after baby while there are babies around! Highly recommend prenatal and yoga after baby classes with Kristen. :) also had a class with Sarah and she was great as well!

As the name suggests, at Discover Yoga, I truly discovered yoga! I started going during my pregnancy, and it was my first experience with yoga. The atmosphere is harmonious and non-judgmental; it doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or have prior experience. Kristen, the instructor, explains each exercise clearly, which made yoga enjoyable for me from the start.

Now, I attend yoga after baby (with my baby), and it brings me so much happiness and relaxation. The environment is welcoming and beautiful, and I always look forward to going. Highly recommended for anyone looking to start or continue their yoga journey!

It’s an awesome yoga studio to have classes. I usually had my yoga strength and stretch class on Monday evening with Kim, and it’s quite helpful for me. Kim is not only giving instructions but also keeping an eye on everyone’s postures. She is so good at explaining how postures connect to the muscles and it is helpful to get the posture right without hurting myself.
Highly recommend to people who want to get started on yoga!

If you are new to yoga or just need to start getting back in touch with your body, try Sonia’s Yoga for Wellness class. I have been away from any real type of exercise for a long time and this has been the perfect start. The movements are slow and mindful. Sonia is a skilled instructor and meets you wherever you are at in your practice. I have have a frozen shoulder but am still able to participate with modifications. Since starting, I’ve noticed changes like feeling less stiff, increased range of movement and sleeping better. I’m excited to try more types of classes as I progress, this class has been a perfect start. I’m hooked!

I have been going to Thursday’s 9:30am yoga session with Sonia. It has been a great way to work on getting my knee strengthened and my whole body aligned and stronger. Sonia’s class has provided a variety of yoga flows and poses such that there is always something new to experience. I enjoy Discovery Yoga and plan to continue to incorporate these classes in my health routine.

I have been going to Discovery yoga for years. I love the class attend on Tuesday nights. You can be any level l, and any age and still come away with a good practice. I never regret going. Eva is a great teacher, and the owner Sarah the best! I always like trying new poses to mix it up, and am definitely looking forward to attending for many years to come. 🧘🏻‍♂️

These classes are wonderful. I highly recommend the MIdday Recharge and Vinyasa classes. You can go at your own pace and work as hard or as easily as your body will let you, and there's no pressure at all, only guidance and joy! It's a great pick-me-up.

I really appreciate the relaxing and rejuvenating vibes that I get from each class. The teachers are great always remembering your name and asking if there is anything you want to work on. The teachers care about the well-being of each student. Most of the classes are at a slow relaxing pace which really allows you to let go of all your stress. Overall, I really recommend it!

I just love it! I had been coming for 3 months for Prenatal Yoga Classes, just until my delivery. Amazing support, exercises, stretches, and relaxation. It helped me a lot with giving birth.
A little later I came back with my baby for the Infant Yoga Classes and Mini & Me Classes. It feels so great to stretch and gently strengthen my new mom's body, while having fun and bonding with the baby. I love the relaxed and supportive atmosphere of these classes, no judging or angry looks when babies cry.
Bonus points: Infant Yoga allowed me to practice leaving the house with my new baby on time and to learn exercises that I can do with her at home.

Thank you Tracy & Angela for the pregnancy yoga classes!
They customize each class to the needs of their participants. Saturday’s can get pretty full. I preferred Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday classes. Not as crowded.
My last class before going into labor was with Angela. There were only two of us in the class...which was awesome! 48 hours later I went into labor at 38 weeks pregnant.

I regularly attend a Level 2 class here at Discover Yoga (full disclosure: I also teach at this studio, but not this class). The teacher, Kim, has a deep knowledge of asana, anatomy, and movement. In fact, she teaches the asana portion of the studio's teacher training program. Her classes are relaxed, yet challenging. She begins gradually, takes the class through a thorough warmup, until we can safely work on the challenges for the evening (in three years, I've never had an injury from this class). She often has a theme for the class but also skillfully weaves in requests from the students. The peak poses typically involve long holds as we work on strength, balance, and/or flexibility. Kim herself has a warm and easy-going personality, and encourages learning and exploration.

I highly recommend the prenatal class at Discover Yoga. All throughout my pregnancy I made it a priority to stay as active as possible; prenatal yoga eventually became part of my exercise routine. It actually became my favorite part of the week. I mainly attended the saturday morning class instructed by Tracy. Tracy is an amazing teacher and is a natural at calming and also empowering the pregnant women she instructs. I gave birth drug-free at home earlier this week and I definitely associate my time in the class with helping me find my breath and my center during the hardest times of my labor. So thankful I took the class.

I found Discover Yoga a few years ago when I was looking for a gentle yoga studio that also allowed for discussion of spiritual growth in addition to asana practice. Alison and her studio have been there for me along my journey toward a deepening yoga practice. The studio has been an important catalyst in my life; It is very comforting to have found a community of yogis that are loving, accepting and kind.

I sometimes hear from people that they are intimidated to go to a yoga class at a yoga studio, sometimes because they feel inflexible or not educated in the way of yoga. No one need fear the gentle people found at Discover Yoga. This is one of the most welcoming environments I have had the pleasure to find myself in and I encourage anyone, regardless of current flexibility or knowledge, to come to the studio.

The style of yoga that is predominately practiced at the studio, viniyoga, is a very gentle yoga that allows for every kind of body to approach a yoga practice starting today, right where you are now. There are so many variations and modifications that can be made to make the pose more comfortable, and all of the instructors I have met through the studio are knowledgeable, patient, and good at communicating to individuals about their practice and helping to select postures or modifications that suit each individual.

Since beginning at Discover Yoga, I have found more flexibility, as well as stress-reduction, fuller breathing, better posture, more focus, greater body awareness, increased health and vitality, and a community of people who are holding a space of love for one another to feel safe and grow.

Loved it! I have been looking for a gentle yoga class forever. The 9:30 am class with Alison (owner) is just what the dr. ordered. The class sits in a circle and checks in with a one word answer to what do you want to work on today. Alison addresses each person by their first name around the circle. This bonds the class and helps people connect vs. just coming and going to a class. The class also does a check out, going around the room, addressed by first name, and says in a word how they feel. It again, connects the class - which is spiritually healing. The warmth of the room is just right. Not to hot - not too cold - just right. What I really like, is that everyone has access to a blanket they can use for their knees, as a pillow, or to put over them during the end meditation. Yeah! I need all three reasons! We used tennis balls for foot massage, straps for stretching, blocks and pillows were available AND lavendar eye bags - to again make the end meditation even more delightful. The yoga moves were just right. Slow and sure - I'm a beginner, and always got frustrated in the other classes that were "all levels" as I couldn't keep up, and didn't like feeling like an idiot (LOL). At this class, I fit right in and can grow into more advance yoga later - or maybe just stay in this wonderful class forever! Great location, right downtown Redmond by Soul Food books and the Samammish River Trail. Can relax in the book shop/coffee shop or go for a walk after my yoga. They offer a two week pass for only $30 - great way to try it out! Namaste :)
