Swimming school Swimming poolAbout the Club
We are a private swim school located in the east Woodinville area. We teach mainly private lesson in a backyard pool that is covered in the winter. Water temperature is 91 in the winter and 86 in the summer, very comfortable for the swimmers.

My kids did private lessons at Eastside Swim School and we were absolutely blown away by how much they both advanced in just one summer.
One of my children was petrified of the water and wouldn’t submerge his head on the first day, and three months later, he was literally swimming across the pool independently.
My other child could just barely swim, and by the end of a few months, he could nearly beat his instructor in a swimming race across the pool.
Lisa and her staff are incredible. They are dedicated to helping kids learn water safety awareness, building confidence and independence, improving swimming technique and endurance, all while encouraging kids to have fun and truly enjoy the water.
We are so grateful to Lisa and her teachers (our boys adored Aidan!) for helping my children learn the important life skill of swimming—something they will take with them for the rest of their lives!

Eastside Swim School has been the best! My children had taken years of group lessons at some of the best reviewed schools in the area and made very little progress. Within the first few weeks of lessons with Gelsi at Eastside they were much more comfortable in the water. Due to our own schedule changes, the kids have also had lessons with Katie, Hannah, and Lisa and they've all been absolutely fantastic. It's been about a year and the kids are swimming confidently and I'm no longer worried about them being unsafe in and around water. I can't recommend them enough. Thank you Eastside Swim School!

Highly recommend it! Our 5-year-old daughter is in her second summer there and loving it. Great teachers, awesome 1:1 classes, and she’s made real progress. We usually do drop-ins (super convenient for our schedule), but they also offer weekly classes—just a heads up, those fill up fast!

Hello,
I'd like to take a momment and highlight the positive impact in my son's swimming abilities that Hannah has helped with every since she began coaching my son Elliott. Hannah mixes in the right about of warmth while also pushing Elliott past his comfort zone. Elliott has needed this extra push for his skills to develope, and I appreciate that Hannah has done this while still fostering a welcoming and fun enviroment. Elliott, and I, are excited every Tuesday knowing well get to see Hannah that day!
Hope this feedback is shared.
Thank you.

My 8 year old daughter loves Eastside swim school and that's saying a lot. She has tried lessons at other places and didn't come away with any confidence about being in the water or any real skills. After 3 lessons at Eastside Swim School however she managed to finally put her head underwater and make real progress. Whereas at previous places she dreaded going to class, when it comes to Eastside swim school she's always asking when she can go back. She would give it a 10 out of 10 stars if it were a possibility.

My 4 year old was too brave near the water without any skills. He has been taking lessons here since the winter and because the lessons are longer and one on one, he has made huge strides!! Gelsi connected with him quickly and helped him through fears. She keeps the sessions very focused and she mixes up the exercises in order to keep his busy mind engaged the whole session. I love love love this swim school and I feel so thankful my kid is getting the skills he needs to keep him safe around the water—all while having fun. Thank you!!!

I can’t say enough good things about Eastside Swim! After years of being “stuck” (level/skill wise) at group lessons at our local aquatic center, we were looking for private lessons. Eastside had a spot and our daughter has soared with her swimming skills! We saw Izzy once a week in the summer and have been seeing Gelsi once a week for 6 months now. Both are fabulous instructors, knowledgeable in swimming skills and teaching techniques, yet good with younger children. Our daughter just turned 6 and can swim in a pool without a life jacket. A year ago she wouldn’t even put her face in the water! What a difference. She is thrilled when it is swim lesson day and time to go to Eastside. Everyone has been very nice. The facility is a pool in a backyard, but it is heated, well maintained, and covered in the fall/winter. Thank you for what you do for the community!

We took all our 3 kids for swimming lesson here with coach Gelsi. She helped my daughter who is afraid to put her head under water to be comfortable and even improve on her techniques. Gelsi is great and friendly with kids. Best place to have private swim lesson as they teach you the right techniques.
My son also takes precomp class here with coach Tagel. It is a great class that teach you the basic of competitive swimming but at the same time correct your techniques too. He is always excited to go to class and it gives him good exercise and build up his stamina.

We have 3 kids in lessons and have been thrilled with our time at Eastside. Gelsie is patient and so professional. Within 2 lessons she was able to get my kids to do things we'd struggled to to have them even attempt. They are all learning faster than we thought possible. Communication, payment, price, and the facility has all been excellent.

We’ve been coming to Eastside Swim School for about 3 years with both of our boys. Lisa has been so fantastic to work with. Our teachers have all been incredible too. Char was able to get our youngest swimming! He had previously been a bit scared of the water, and she calmly engaged with him and turned him into loving swim lessons!

Gelsi is a wonderful swim instructor. My son, who is 4 years old, has been swimming with her for an over a year now. I have seen a tremendous amount of growth since he stared working with her. I really appreciate her teaching approach and her kind and calm demeanor. Her lessons are a great blend of technique, learning how to become a more confident swimmer and also having some fun too!

Two stars because I like the instructors. I've been with this swim school for over four years since they were at Willow Prep School and have taken both of my daughters here for several years. The instructors are all well informed and nice, however the scheduling and booking system is chaotic and not organized. I was promised, several times, that I would get a heads up for fall scheduling but never got an email back and then when I reached out again, was told that all of the spots had filled up. I was never informed or notified of anything. I was also told that it was chaotic due to only one instructor teaching, however found out from another instructor that is false information and that there will be about 4-6 coaches teaching there for fall. Not only was I misled but I was also misinformed. Another parent also reached out to me and told me they felt they were completely left out of the fall changeover process even though they had been vigilant about asking for updates and openings and they, too felt that scheduling was very unorganized. There have been several times where I drove to go to the regular scheduled pre-comp lesson only to find out it had been cancelled for the whole month or for the next couple weeks but I had ZERO communication about it. No email, text, or call. Waste of time and gas. This happened twice. Additionally, my older one had been in the pre-comp class for five months. However, I had un-enrolled her after the fifth month. Today, I got an email stating that she is not ready for pre-comp and should go back to private lessons. Shouldn't I have been informed of that before she was in the class for a consecutive five months? Secondly, what was the point of them emailing me this information after I already un-enrolled her? The reason may have solely been to make money off of private "drop in" classes that I could re-enroll her into. The email came off totally wrong and honestly a bit snide to me. It all just does not add up. So you are telling me: I was wasting time plus money for five months with no feedback on her lagging behind in class? And, why did it take over five months to let me know?
I do not understand their logic. They are unprofessional, misinformed, and disorganized. I will not be going back.
Update 9/2023: The owner called me to apologize and stated the comment about my kid was a mix up on their end.

Best place for private lessons. This is in a residential area not a big swim school. But the quality of service is excellent. Quick response to reserve spots. Spots are limited but that's everywhere in the Eastside. The pool is not too big but a good size for lessons. My daughter is 7 and she enjoys lessons with all the coaches available. Clean and easily accessible.

I recently took swimming classes at Eastside Swimming School in Woodinville and had the pleasure of being taught by Lisa. She was an excellent instructor who was incredibly patient and helped me feel comfortable in the water. Lisa also taught me important breathing techniques and various swimming strokes that were invaluable to my progress. I highly recommend Lisa as an instructor for anyone looking to improve their swimming skills. Her positive attitude and dedication to her students made for a wonderful learning experience. Thank you, Lisa!

Instructors are very nice. Even though it's listed on the website that it's "covered" it certainly is not... it's also in someone's backyard and not in a swimming facility as the website photos might suggest. We did baby classes and were disappointed to say the least. I tried canceling but you can't get any refunds after signing up for their classes. They had our baby classes and private lessons going at the same time on the same side of the pool... super cramped . Water splashing the babies from the private lessons constantly. The baby curriculum was exactly the same for all 4 lessons.. you can literally do it yourself after the first lesson. Today it was 97 outside. Did they postpone it a day for the babies once it was cooler? Nope.. 97 with babies in an uncovered pool.. wow

If I have to describe my experience with Eastside swim school and specifically my awesome swimming instructor LISA - I would call it AWESOME !
Coming from South East Asian country, I never got a chance to learn swimming at an early age. But I had this calling and always wanted to swim like a pro.
Back in 2015 myself and my husband enrolled in YMCA which was close to our office. Instead of learning swimming, it instilled fear in me coz I was not taught how to stand back up. Could barely learn to float in 5 classes so gave up and never joined back.
7 years later things happened with life and health and swimming became one of my life goals. My search ended up finding Lisa and reading all the good reviews about her. I followed her on FB, LinkedIN and requested her to be my teacher. I would say, luck was on my side that despite busy schedule she accepted to teach me.
I am writing this review after 7 or more lessons with her and I can say with pride that I have the honor of learning from one of the best swim instructors in the Pacific Northwest. From right form to the right technique, she teaches it all with perfection ! Within first 3 lessons I learnt to float, glide, basic treading, learning to stand up from front and back float and was already gliding with kicks.
Lisa recognizes ones strengths and weaknesses and charts their swimming journey accordingly. There is a long way to go even in my journey (still learning the strokes) but I am confident that I could not have LEARNT IT THE RIGHT WAY, if it was not from LISA.
She earns my highest recommendation for all those who missed learning this life skill early in their life or have some shape form of fear associated with water/swimming.

I have always been scared of water and had failed attempts to swim in past. Lisa is a great instructor, within two classes of thirty minutes she not only helped me overcome my fear but by the end of second class I was doing hand strokes.
I highly recommend this swim school - great instructors, reasonably priced and decent facility.

I’m so impressed by this swim school. Both my 5 year old son and 9 year old daughter took classes. Miss Carrie is a wonderful teacher! My 5 year old absolutely loved her. She had patience with him and you could really tell she cared about the children. My son went from being quite hesitant of the water to being excited to swim with Miss Carrie each day. My daughter had Miss Mikayla who she learned so much from. She took our daughter from a beginner swimmer to a level 2.5 in just 8 lessons. The concentrated skills they teach in their classes are far better than any other swimming lessons we’ve taken in the area. I was hesitant in signing up for group classes because we’ve taken group classes from other schools with no real skill retention. These group classes from EastSide Swim were amazing. They truly teach them concentrated skills that give them the building blocks to become strong swimmers. Our daughter is so excited to learn advanced swim strokes we’ve signed her up for the next round of 8 lessons, along with our son, who’s finally excited to swim, thanks to Miss Carrie. Thank you EastSide Swim! You’ve taught our children skills they’ll carry with them for life.

Most instructors are good, but management is a chaos… and the instructor turnover rate is very high. We booked for a full month private class and had 3 different instructors… the night before our class, received a text message saying that our instructor has left and cannot do tomorrow’s class… unbelievable! The owner never pick up phones, and although the website says if you book the full month class, you can be guaranteed for next month class, but it obviously is not true…because we are told no instructors have availability for next month, and simply no apology for this inconsistency at all! Avoid this place!!
And our last class was with a new instructor, for the 30 minutes class, she spent 15 minutes just talking to my 4.5 year old to put his head under water.. and it of course doesn’t work after 15 minutes… the instructor doesn’t know what my son has been taught during his last 6 classes, so it is hard for her to know how to best teach my kid, this is exactly why we want the same instructor for at least most of the classes…

Had several lessons here. The coaches are OK. The management and online booking system are messy. One of my private lessons was first confirmed in the system, and several days later, they canceled my lesson without any notice, no phone call, no email! My kid was very disappointed to find out the lesson was canceled at the pool. We wasted our precious time in driving there.

Eastside Swim School at Willows Prep pool is incredible!!! I've taken my very shy, water-sensitive/afraid 6 year old daughter to many swim schools in the Kirkland/Redmond/Woodinville area and none have taught her to learn how to swim after a lot of time invested. It wasn't because she can't, she can, its because the instruction was too slow, not the right instructor or not the right fit, too many kids in the group/not enough time etc. UNTIL I found Eastside Swim School. Lisa is some kind of miracle worker #truestory. We wanted our daughter to learn water safety skills and learn how to swim (in case she ever fell in a pool so she could get herself out - we consider swimming a life skill that she needed to learn pronto!) and within 4 weeks of (4) 30 minute lessons with Lisa, our child now swims under water, does the backstroke across the pool, jumps in by herself and swims to the edge, can hold her breath under water, reaches successfully to grab the edge of the pool from swimming on her tummy or on her back, etc. The list goes on and on. Her confidence is through the roof on what she can do now in the pool all by herself. Yes, there were tears, but by the 4th lesson, there were none and there were tons of SMILES and having a GOOD TIME! Can you believe it? I couldn't - my jaw was on the floor (under my mask) at the incredible progress that was going on in that pool and to see my sweet little 6 year old smiling, learning, and being happy in the water - and as I mentioned -jumping in by herself! If you are at another swim school and after a few weeks your child is not making any progress, you have the wrong instructor, wrong school, or the class is too big. Been there done that. If my child can learn to swim in 4 weeks, so can yours. Strongly recommend to get in contact with Lisa to set up time with her or one of her qualified instructors. Truly incredible. We are so grateful to have found Eastside Swim School and Lisa - teaching a life skill like swimming starts here! We are proof of it! Thank you Lisa for all that you do and of course, your incredible patience! :)
