I love this gym, I literally found my flow here.
I have been doing their Yoga and BollyX classes and just loved them. All the instructors here are super helpful and friendly especially Tulika and Elizabeth :)

The gym itself is clean and spacious, I’d recommend it to anyone in SLU area.

I’ve been coming to Flow Fitness for about 3 years now and it has become a big part of my weekly routine. I’ve tried most of the studio classes, but BollyX and Flow Barre are definitely my favorites. The instructors — especially Aryn, Meghan, Mallika, and Tulika — bring such great energy and positivity to every session.

The gym is clean, the equipment is well-maintained, and the overall environment feels welcoming. The only thing I’ve found challenging is the recent change to the cancellation policy (a $25 fee and a 12-hour notice requirement), which can be a bit tough to work around with an unpredictable schedule.

That said, I’ve had a consistently positive experience here and would still happily recommend Flow Fitness to others looking for a supportive and fun workout community.

I’ve been part of this community for the past year and have genuinely appreciated the wide variety of classes and excellent facilities it offers. Initially, everything—from the engaging classes and skilled instructors to the fair cancellation policies—made for a wonderful experience. However, over the past few months, things have taken a noticeable downturn. The introduction of steep cancellation fees and the abrupt departure of popular instructors overnight have significantly impacted the overall experience and sense of consistency that once set this place apart.

10/10 hands down my favorite gym

If you have not yet given yourself the chance to take a Barre class, I highly recommend you start at Flow Fitness! All the instructors are great, but Mackenzie N. (sub, unfortunately for me) is an absolute animal!! There will be no muscles unflexed in your body after she is done with you!! Pre #HellWeek done right!! And even though I have never taken private classes here, all instructors will take their time to give you extra attention if required! The fitness rooms are very well kept, everything is super clean and tidy, and the staff is friendly, and amazing!

Kayleen is an incredible Yoga instructor any time of the year. Now when she is subbing during #HellWeek =@ expect to gently get out of your comfort zone and bend your body like never before!! Can we have more weeks of fun challenges like this one, and Kayleen instructing us more often?! Pretty please?! The Skull

Overall, I think Flow Fitness is an excellent gym. It has all the equipment I need and more, all in great condition. Facilities and amenities are very good too. I don't use the Fremont location but I do appreciate having access to two locations.

The staff and instructors are very accommodating and friendly. There are lots of classes, with great variety and fantastic instructors.

There are two areas of improvement (one of which is partially beyond their control). 1. For those with strong olfactory senses, it can often smell pretty badly: some of my fellow gym members need to take advantage of the free deodorant provided in the locker rooms (yes darling, your sweat does stink) and perhaps the gym could have air fresheners or purifiers. 2. the cancelation policy could be less severe: unlike some other reviewers, I don't think it is terrible, extreme, or needs significant easing but a decrease in the penalties would be reasonable.

Been a member for almost a year and I’ve never had a gym membership I’ve actually enjoyed prior to joining Flow. Liz, Sydney, Victoria and all of the instructors are amazing and so amazing and encouraging. There’s a wide range of classes and gym equipment if you’re not feeling a class. I definitely recommend Flow for anyone looking to get back into the gym. :)

Flow Fitness is my neighborhood gym, and for the longest time, I’d walk by and see people working out through the windows. One day, I finally decided to give it a try, and I’m so glad I did.

Before joining, I wasn’t someone who worked out regularly, but I wanted to make a change. The staff were super friendly and made me feel comfortable right away. The gym is clean, has everything you need, and being so close to home makes it really easy to stick with it.

I mostly attend group classes, such as yoga and Barre, as well as the small group training camp, which I absolutely love. The instructors are great and make each workout fun and motivating. It can get a little busy at times, but the energy is always positive.

Almost two years later, I feel stronger, healthier, and actually look forward to going to the gym now. Flow Fitness really helped me get started and stay consistent.

Good classes and value for money. There used to be a lot of free floaters in the class entering without registration further crowding the already full class. It is good see some enforcement of the policies and allowing only registered folks finally.

Would recommend joining this gym.

I’ve been going to this gym for years, I’ve taken classes, I’ve done personal training, I’ve gotten help from employees, I’ve put my membership on pause, I’ve cancelled it, I re-started- through it all they’ve been clear, kind, and welcoming. The gym is always clean, the machines are in good working order, the other people at the gym are friendly and respectful. Gets really busy when everyone gets off work around 5pm so watch out for that

I've been a member of Flow Fitness for 2 years and overall I think it's an excellent gym. I only use the South Lake Union location, as it's a short walk for me.

In the past I've been a paying member at gyms ranging from giant chains (24 Hour Fitness, the old Bally's Total Fitness), to national franchises (Gold's), to local boutique gyms. Flow Fitness definitely compares favorably with my other gym membership experiences. It's more expensive than the big chains (you get what you pay for), but overall the membership feels are quite reasonable, and there are different packages to choose from depending on how often you go and how many classes you want included each month.

The SLU location is large enough but not cavernous or impersonal. The gym equipment is all anyone could need (who isn't a pro athlete), and is kept clean and in good condition. The staff is friendly and helpful. The instructors have all been great, and there is usually a good variety of classes. The towel service + gratis deodorant and mouthwash, are nice and thoughtful conveniences. The general vibe is relaxed and friendly, with a good neighborhood-gym feel.

So, overall, I'd recommend!

Here's what could improve:

* The recent class scheduling policy changes are unpleasant and unpopular. (Cancellation fees went way up, and it's now harder to schedule your favorite classes in advance).

* The ambient noise and music aren't too loud overall, but some instructors forget to use the microphones, which makes it hard to hear them, especially in the one class area that's not separated by walls and doors.

* Recently there seem to be fewer classes and not as much variety. And they're all clustered in the 7-8 AM, Noon, and 4-6 PM slots, with no options for mid-morning, mid-afternoon, early morning, or late evening.

* Another reviewer noted the lack of privacy in the restroom stalls. True! Also the locker room & restroom layout makes it unfortunately easy for odors & noises to be experienced outside of the restroom itself. Improved restroom ventilation, truly private floor-to-ceiling toilet stalls, and a door separating the restroom from the locker area would be a big improvement.

*There are quite a few laundry receptacles for used towels & microfibers placed throughout the gym, which is good. But the locker room itself only has one laundry receptacle right by the door. It would be better to have a bin for used towels & washcloths somewhere actually near the showers...having to carry them around the general locker area is sort of gross and encourages people to just throw them on the ground in the shower area.

I’ve been a member for almost 4 years and love the variety of classes offered, ranging from bolly cardio and kickboxing to strength training. The gym’s proximity to my workplace is a huge plus. The new cancellation and late/no show policies are a bit stringent though, and booking some popular classes like body combat has become a chore because of how fast they book out.

I tried this place just looking for a midrange gym with a nice sauna. The sauna was okay, however could be A LOT hotter. I did not end up joining simply because the shower pressure is very low and the shower water was cold. I wasn't expecting a full spa experience, but I did expect to be able to get clean and go to work straight from the gym without having to go home and take a proper shower. Also I tried a "power yoga class", which took place in what felt like a basketball court, too large of a space for yoga and also very cold. Then I tried a body pump class, where I did not even break a sweat.

Not for me. If you're just looking for Zumba and a few free weights it may be on okay choice for the area.

I’ve been a member at flow for 4 years now, loved the environment and classes. However, recently the late cancellation policy has been extremely frustrating, getting charged over 27$ to change a class. They’ve also started enforcing bouncers at the BollyX class who track who has signed up, making it a hostile environment.

If you are looking to maintain a workout routine, they offer a diverse set of classes covering both cardio and strength training, which all of them are WONDERFUL and fun. My top pick has been BollyX class with Tulika Venugopal, super fun class with positive energy. The gym also offers a great ambience with to do your own training, with ample workout machines. A nice, compact gym for the price that’s convenient for people who work in the area. My biggest issue is with the showers. No matter what time of day you come in, the water is ice cold—almost like they don’t have a working hot water heater. Myself and other members have reported this for weeks, but nothing seems to be done about it. A cold shower once in a while isn’t the end of the world, but as it’s no longer summer, no one should be taking freezing showers after a workout. Unfortunately, since it doesn’t seem like they want to make a change, I’ll be canceling my membership next month and switching to Transform 180.

New management is awful. They have a weird business model, it’s going to backfire horribly. $30 fine if you show up 5 mins late and you’re not allowed entry to the class either. Another $30 bucks if you try to cancel the same day as the class. Used to be my favorite thing to go to their Bollyx class as the instructors are awesome. But I would rather spend my time and money elsewhere now.

Since the ownership change, the gym's customer service has gone down.
The cancellation policies have been changed multiple times without any notification sent or available on the website/app.
One could be added from the waiting list to the class minutes before the class starts and get charged $25(before taxes) for not showing up.

While the prices have increased, the quality of those hasn't changed in the past 8 years.

Those breach customer trust and respect for customers' time and busy schedule.

As a response to the Flow's response below: the fee was actually never waived. Also - there is absolutely no communication around the change of terms in contrary to what the gym claims. There were no notifications being sent to either me or the 3 other members I checked with.

I have been going to Flow Fitness for over seven years or something like that! The staff is friendly, the equipment is alright but some of it is old. The dumbbells go up to 100 lbs. Bathrooms are pretty clean, but I do wish there was more privacy in the men's restroom stalls.

The classes are fun, and the instructors are very friendly and engaging. My favorite were the Yoga Classes, I attended over 100 of them.

My feedback on the equipment: some of the barbells were a bit slippery and lacked grip. The machine row's closer grip lacks the rubber.

It can get really crowded after 5PM, so I always scheduled my workouts to be in the morning or before 4PM. If you come in at 5-7PM, you will find no available equipment.

I recently decided to cancel my Flow membership because I wanted a change in environment. I hope to enjoy my last couple months there, as I have a lot of memories at Flow and made so many PRs and gains here. :)

I noticed some members talking about the signups and class changes. The charge for missing class is $25, which seems high, I think there should be a penalty for missing class, but life happens and 25 dollars is a lot. Hopefully, Flow reconsiders their policies and finds some happy medium so that it works out with the members and staff.

I was visiting from Chicago and took Katrina’s Bodypump class - it was the first time in my 10+ years of doing Bodypump that the Les Mills app was down. Katrina simply used alternate music and choreographed on the fly, and was PHENOMENAL. It takes one heck of an instructor to not only choreograph on the fly like that, but do it well and give everyone a great class. Thank you Katrina!

The club itself was great - equipment was well maintained and plentiful with plenty of cleaning towels, the studios fit the moods of the classes they were intended for, and the locker rooms were clean, bright, and well stocked. All of the club staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. I’d definitely become a member if I lived in Seattle.

I agree with others who have recently posted about this gym having gone downhill fast. I would NOT recommend this gym to new potential members. There have been no recent movements that suggest this is a good place to spend your dollars.

It’s honestly so disappointing to see how Flow Fitness has been managed since the ownership change. I used to love coming here. The gym felt welcoming, energetic, and responsive to members’ needs. Now, it feels like everything that made Flow special is backsliding in a big way.

While summer is always a slower time for gyms, what’s happening at Flow goes far beyond a typical seasonal slowdown. Class sizes are noticeably smaller than in previous summers, and the energy in the gym just isn’t the same. The overall vibe has become negative, and it’s impossible to ignore how much things have declined.

The new policy around booking classes is a real problem. It has gotten to the point where instructors even mention how difficult it is for them, since they have no idea how many people will actually show up for class. This uncertainty makes it harder for them to plan and deliver a good experience, and it’s clearly frustrating for both staff and members. People are showing up late, and instructors are forced to adjust on the fly.

Members can be heard complaining about fees on a weekly basis, with many voicing that they no longer sign up for classes ahead of time for fear of punitive charges if they need to adjust their schedule. This then has the effect of less people attending.

The class schedule, which used to be a major strength of Flow, has become a huge letdown.

Some days only have two or fewer evening classes, and there are multiple days where nothing starts after 5:00pm. If you work somewhere with standard hours, it is very difficult to attend. The newly limited selection of classes that are offered often overlap, so if you want to do more than one in a day, you’re out of luck. This really reduces the value of the more expensive memberships, since you just can’t get as much out of them as before.

While it makes sense to offer fewer classes in the summer if attendance is down, the way the schedule is set up now just doesn’t work for members. In the past, classes were scheduled at times people could actually attend, and they were staggered so someone could do more than one in a visit. Now, the schedule is a mess. While small adjustments, like shifting classes by 10 or 15 minutes, could make a big difference, management only seems intent on limiting offerings.

Overall, the new management and policies have made things worse for both members and instructors. The community and energy that made Flow Fitness special are not there.

I agree with others that the new cancellation policies are terrible. The new owners promised to add more sessions for popular classes, but they still haven’t added more options for the one class I keep my membership for. Therefore, Flow has just gotten worse - there’s no upside to the new ownership.

Not very happy with flow fitness lately. The change they made to the wait-list system is very unfriendly for the customers.

In addition, they have been cancelling a lot of Barre classes lately, despite most of them always being booked out a week in advance. The previous Barre manager (Carly) did a great job expanding classes to meet demand, not clear what's happening under the new management.

Flow is everything you want in a place to train: clean, well-equipped, and filled with people who are serious about fitness without the intimidation factor. Whether you’re just starting out or have been working out for years, it really is a space that feels motivating and welcoming.

There’s also a solid lineup of group classes, which is a huge plus. The instructors are great at what they do, and there’s a good mix depending on what you’re into—strength, cardio, or anything, really. It’s a nice way to switch things up and stay consistent.

Updating my review from 4 years ago:

Zero Stars.

Flow was a great gym and recently got bough out by a tech bro. They have a 12 hour late cancellation policy of $5 totally reasonable. Next week the cancellation policy is going to $15 for 12 hours or less and $25 for 2 hours or less. I am so very truly disappointed. I have been a member since they opened. I saw them as a community oriented and community geared gym. Which offered free memberships during the pandemic to unemployed people. Now I just see them as another scammy money hungry company. The vibe is gone, stay away!

Flow is an all around great gym with wonderful classes and a strong sense of community. The employees are all really nice and the management is really responsive and will work with you when you have membership questions, or if you need to pause or cancel. They are respectful and generous

I love this gym. It is clean, well maintained, they have a great selection of free weights, a spacious open mat area for stretching or doing abs etc. They have lively classes and the staff is friendly and helpful. If you live in Downtown Seattle you do not have a lot of options for gyms unless you want to pay a small fortune for the WAC. Flow is perfectly priced, not insanely busy and has the perfect setup to get you a great workout. I highly recommend them if you are visiting downtown or are new to Downtown.

Sure, here is a more polished version of your review:

---

**Beware of Shady Contract Clauses**

Like many low-tier gyms, this place lures you in with a low entry price that increases significantly after 30 days. They make the cancellation process incredibly inconvenient and hide a 30-day cancellation clause in the contract. This deceptive practice makes you believe you're getting a great deal, but you'll end up paying much more than expected. Don't be fooled by the attractive entry price. It's not worth it. You'll inevitably end up paying at least one full month at the higher gym rate. The contracts are deliberately set up this way to extract more money from customers. Avoid this gym if you value transparency and fair business practices.

They also reserve about a quarter of the gyms floor space during peak hours for group classes when they already have a separate room for group classes which seems like a questionable choice to me.

Overall this gym is solid, but if you need a workout from around 4pm to close and you aren't someone who's into group classes, I can't say id recommend it.

Clean, open space, parking(limited/free) still...in the parking garage. You name it, they have all the exercises equipments you need to get fit. The South Lake Union location is super-friendly, with a wide range of fitness class times and a wide array of class options. The open hours and class times are convenient for people who work in-person day jobs, and the prices are really reasonable for all that is offered (and they tell you upfront what those prices are, and make it easy to both join and cancel). Great place to work out! Only been here to do weightlifting, but there are trainers as well as classes you can attend also. The equipment is usually clean. Everyone does their part to try and make it as clean as possible. Can get busy in the times right after work. Also has filtered water foundation, which is great if you don't want to bring water separately. Sometimes, it breaks down, but it's usually up and running. Also has a sauna if you want to relax.

Great facility, great classes and equipment and friendly staff. Tiny nitpicks are it can get a little crowded and working the showers is confusing.

My biggest gripe with this place is the music is always on waaaaaaaaaaay too loud, especially when there’s a class happening in the largest room. You can hardly hear your own music. It’s annoying as hell. The irony is that almost everyone is listening to their own music at the gym. I started my fitness journey at Flow Fitness in December 2021 with a 36-session personal training package with Doug Alvarez. The progress and results I have seen made me continue with Doug for 10 months straight now, and counting! Doug helped me transform my body in less than a year -- increasing muscle mass and lowering body fat -- by setting clear goals, teaching me all about body composition, the importance of building muscles with strength training, and balancing that with some core and conditioning every Friday to kick off a great weekend! Doug also supported me with helpful nutrition information to complement the workouts so it's all a complete, well-rounded experience. I've always found it very challenging to come to the gym and work out without guidance or motivation, especially in gloomy Seattle, but working with such a motivating and invested personal trainer like Doug has definitely helped me overcome that! Consistency is key! Thank you Flow Fitness for having such great trainers, and thank you Doug for guiding me on this journey! Highly recommended.

If you cancel your membership they will charge you for an extra 30 days after you cancel. --++++++------

This is my personal favorite gym. I have been working out in this gym for last 3 years.
Staff:
1) Staff is extremely welcoming as you enter the gym. Based on my interactions, I understand Justin (Owner) + Brian takes care of them very well in terms of benefits. During the recent snow, Staff safety was given utmost priority and all the group classes were canceled.
2) The trainers know what they are doing. I have worked with 2 trainers (Freddie and Steve) and I find them helpful to reach my goals.
3) Very much process oriented system. They have right tools for members to book slots for group classes some of the trainers are really good.
If you are reading this review just contemplating if you should try Flow, I would suggest try for a week. My personal suggestion would be find a gym close by where you can work out regularly.
For Yoga: Frances - Must try for one of her sessions.
Body combat: Sara A: One of the highly rated classes. The session is filled with lot of energy.
Barre: Margaret: Amazing trainer. Makes every one very inclusive and help to get their best.
Strength camp: Freddie /Christian (Who was training Seattle Reign Soccer team) / Mack. You can’t go wrong with this.
There are other trainers whose session I have not attended due the time of the session timings.
Equipment: They have standard ones, well maintained but this center is usually busy during peak times (~6-7PM ).
Things I would not suggest here are: Services some external party come to support like Diet Consultation. Do your independent research than choosing some service since it’s in Flow.

I’m not sure how to begin except with- I love this gym. First of all, the owner and the staff I have met so far have been so welcoming and positive. It’s not a large gym, but what it has is all placed well. The glass waterfall feature by the treadmills is a lovely touch, and some may say a silly thing that really made me eager to join was the fresh flowers upon entering into the locker rooms. Those little details are a big deal to me. All of the equipment looks very well maintained, and patrons to the gym seem to all really care about being consistant on wiping down the things they have used after using them-stations are set up throughout its entirety which makes it very convenient. The dry sauna after a hard work out or even a quick session to decompress after work has been an extra blessing. This gym takes care to have so many things available so you can pack less or cover you if you’re a go go type like me that can forget some items from time to time- like deodorant, mouth wash, hair tools, etc. I tried a handful of the classes, and all of the instructors have come off as very energetic and inclusive. I am not a terribly coordinated type, so several of the classes I had a hard time getting into since they followed a bit more of a dancer dance feel, but I did somehow fall in love with the Spin Fusion Classes! I am a runner… that is my happy place big time.. never ever did I think I’d be into spin-ya’ll spin folks are crazy! But nope! Addicted! After classes, cruising by the mini fridge full of damp COLD towels is a huge bonus when you’ve busted out during whatever your mission was for the day. This place is clean, the staff is considerate, and again I really love the little details. I’d say the only thing that been a little meh is when I go to shower in the morning (I do go very early) it takes a while for the water to heat up, but I wonder if it’s because I’m one of the first to turn them on. At any rate, I plan to remain at this spot for a long time. I’ve been a member to several gyms in my life time in different states, and this one is by far the best.

FLOW is hands-down the best gym & overall fitness facility in Seattle.

The moment you walk in, you're greeted w/ smiles from genuinely friendly & helpful staff members. There's no pressure or "bro" / "salesy" vibes whatsoever, and their team makes you feel comfortable from the start.

FLOW not only has great quality equipment, tons of free-weights, more racks that any other gym I've been to (you're rarely having to wait), and friendly members (a place you can actually make friends), it also has outstanding classes including spin, barre, yoga, and a variety of weight, cardio, and functional fitness classes - all available within a single and very reasonable membership fee.

Ex: you can attend a single class at CycleBar or other spin studio in Seattle and easily pay $20-$25 for a single class, while Flows rolls great classes right into your membership cost at a MUCH cheaper rate.

On top of all of this, FLOW has both a great location in SLU & an additional facility (w/ parking available) right in the heart of Fremont.

Overall, I've been going to FLOW for 3+ years now and absolutely LOVE this place - highly recommended.

Love Flow Fitness! I initially used ClassPass to figure out which gym worked best for me after moving to Seattle. Some other gym environments skew a bit young, intense and hardcore, but I like that the classes at Flow are extremely welcoming, diverse in fitness level and provide you the space to either go HAM or take it easy, depending on what you want/need that day. However, I think the membership fee is too overpriced and I didn't like that I had to pay one more month for cancellation (there is a 30 day cancellation policy). The gym is nice and policies are not. I would strongly encourages others to look elsewhere. You are paying a high price for a gym that does not put their members first. They require a 30 day notice for cancellations, which is reasonable. They do however, charge you the full amount for any charges within the following 30 days. I would expect them to charge you for the remaining 30 days but not any more. I am aware that I have access to the gym for the remaining 56 days of my membership. The policy is clearly in place to allow the gym to make more money.

The owner claims(in reply on other review sites) that this is an industry standard and that it is essentially the same as breaking a lease. My reply is below:

I do not care if it's a standard in the industry. I care about patronizing businesses that look out for their customers, it's a two-way street. No, apartment rentals are not the same. You usually have to pay a penalty breaking the lease but you only pay rent for while you live there.
