Update: this gym is permanently closed.
I've been going 3-4x a week for the past year now. Pretty clean, quiet, not too crowded on weekday evenings and fairly empty on weekends. There's 3 squat racks so even when it's crowded there's usually one open. Overall I have no complaints - it's a nice place to work out!

I give this place 5 stars because of the comfort level. People walk around friendly and everyone keeps to themselves. Despite aurora right here, I feel safe. Also, making big gains here!

It's the Hotel California of Gym Membership! I opened a membership over a year ago and tried to pay out my year membership and cancel my account and was told I needed to pay through the end of the membership year (fine) to do so. And I did. I just received a call from a collection agency telling me my account was in collection because I haven't paid dues in 6 months. Did I receive any notice that I owed dues in the first place? No. If I had, I would have called to confirm the cancellation of my account right away. When I brought this to the attention of Member Services, they said they had tried to call and sent messages. Really? I hadn't received ONE, except from the collection agency. Then I was told I had given them the wrong information and that's why I didn't receive notices (but the collection agency magically was able to both call and send a bill?). When I finally convinced someone that I wasn't crazy, I was told that I missed their deadline by THREE DAYS six months ago, and that in order to close my account I had to pay dues for that month, even though I had already paid through the end of my membership in October in order to have it cancelled at the end of the year. DON'T DO IT. STAY AWAY. They will nickel and dime you to death and even then.... you may not be free.

This place is a joke. The girl on the phone was so rude and told me my business wasn't worth their time("the amount of paperwork we have to do" - YES YOU HAVE A JOB). I literally asked if i dont like the gym and want to cancel after 2 months whats the protocol. Gold's Gym should sell this place to someone that cares about their business.

Went in to cancel my membership. They refused to cancel my membership there at the gym where I originally signed up. This directly contradicts what they advertise online in their FAQ pdf "You may cancel your membership at the gym.." Instead they told me to send a certified letter. SHADY!

On 3 occasions I asked for your help to cancel my contract and I no longer use the gym service and the staff only tells me to cancel it by mail. I try and I can not cancel but I keep paying is not fair ...

Good looking space and amount of equipment (could see that there is wear and tear accumulating) for a workout. My main gripe is that the manager was an ass on my tour. Acting like I was wasting his time. Not giving me straight talk on prices. Etc.

I go there 3-4 times a week. The staff is always friendly. The equipment is clean and works fine. I started my membership because I lived across the street, but I moved up to Mountlake Terrace and I still make the trip. There's a lot of diversity there and everyone is good with typical gym etiquette. Keep up the good work!

Overall, it's not a bad place to workout. But, there are some weird things like the dumbbell rack has only one 60 pound weight and the water fountain doesn't work (could be fixed by now). I go early morning or late at night or both. At those times the equipment is wide open and I don't have to wait.

I've been a member on and off the past 5 years. Staff has always been helpful, gym is clean and they have good equipment for a reasonable membership price.

The internet is not working. They keep telling me for 2 years that they are going to fix it. There are lots of machines that work, but the bathroom is not that clean.

Have been a consistent member here for the past year and a half, going in at least 4 days a week. Has all the equipment you'll need to get in great shape, plus some fun classes that are the best way to meet new people in the area. Management is positive, polite and very helpful. Think Average Joe's Gym from the movie Dodgeball .

I also spoke with Chris and got the same reaction..he then stared me down as if he wanted to fight me...Im not as big as he is but I will say it would not have been good for him.....The owners definitely need to look intp his conduct with customers...plus he isnt too smart withhow he responds to questions...particularly when it comes to the business at hand...."some people act as if their whole world is spinning....but thats just because they are not doing anything but standing still"

I've been looking for a gym for a group of friends and I, the facility looks nice, clean and there's a juice bar. (Awesome) I had to wait about 15 min to talk to someone about joining, whatever, people are busy. I get that. But the guy who I had to speak with was super upset from another customer by the time he got to talk to me. His name is Chris, and he completely undermined me and any question I had! I asked if they offered military discount, and I got back a rude "duh like" no. Okay....
So then I told him I had a Groupon. Chris told me to return it! I told him I didn't want to do that, cause I'm not even sure if we want to go here. All the while he seamed very frustrated with me.
After feeling more then uncomfortable I told him I didn't really want to be at this gym, and asked to speak to his manager, who of course was not there.
Good job Golds Gym, you just lost a group of 8.
I will be returning my Groupon after this terrible customer service. If you can get past the initial sign up, the gym looks nice, but if you don't like total d-heads this might not be the place for you.

This location continued to charge me after they split partnership w/ the Cap Hill location. I called to inquire, they stated they didn't have me in the system (how then am I being charged?) Staff stated I needed to email membership services in order to officially cancel a membership. I called to cancel back in January and was not told this. I have since sent the email asking for a response clarifying that my membership has been canceled. They refused to reimburse me of the dues I paid, even though I was not enrolled in their gym. When the Cap Hill location and the Aurora Locations split I chose to go to the Capitol Hill location as it's closer to home, much bigger, and much cleaner. In addition the staff are very polite, helpful and professional. I found the Aurora club to be gross, smelly, small and full of unfriendly, clearly unhelpful, staff. I'm leaving the Seattle Area, moving to Portland, and I do not plan to ever have another Gold's gym membership again. Sure, it's inexpensive but that just goes to show....you get what you pay for.

A real gym with real people working hard! The staff is always friendly and encouraging! The facility is great with a large variety of activities, equipment, and space. I see members spot each other, say 'good job' and more, it's such a great environment. I love the personal trainers, they pay attention to your own goals and work hard to get you there!! Dion has been amazing to work with!! You would never be intimidated as a beginner in a place like this!!

I have worked out at ALOT of gyms. I find the hardest part of working out is finding a location where you feel comfortable.
I have found that Gold's gym North Seattle has done a great job inviting members to work out in an open friendly environment. The front desk staff is always smiling and the trainers and management are always available to answer questions and provide support.
I like the weight floor and the cardio area upstairs is clean and well maintained.

It was hard for me to find a gym I felt comfortable at over the years, but I'm so happy I found this one. I love working out at Gold's! From the first greeting you get at the door to the knowledgable trainers who are willing to help you reach your goals to an awesome selection of equipment, I really enjoy the time I spend at this gym. The club is always clean and the management really does a wonderful job making sure their members feel welcomed every time they walk in the door. On top of all of that, this gym is very affordable and I found I would be paying quite a bit more for at other comparable gyms.
I would highly recommend this facility to everyone, whether they are just getting started or are an experienced weightlifter. Gold's is the best!

I have been a member with Gold's Gym for sometime now and I enjoy working out at this facility the most. The staff is courteous and very helpful. Good space with good equipment selection. The gym also has Olympic bumper plates which is a nice feature that no other gyms have. I recommend this gym to my friends.

Don't understand everyone's complaints about fees. I signed up with one of the zillions of coupons they put out about a year ago and all the startup fees were waived. Pay $25/mo and I don't know WHERE people are finding gyms with as many perks anywhere else for less. Showers, TONS of equipment, fresh hot towels (though only for workouts, not for showers), and FREE CLASSES. The person who posted recently who said everything is broken and no one fixes it? No idea what they're talking about. I had one treadmill not start. Told the manager and it was fixed the next day. The people who work there are super nice, the people who work out there in the 5-7 a.m. time slot are courteous and friendly, parking lot is huge and well lit, and unlike several of the Crossfit places around, they open at 5 a.m.! Sure the place looks beat up and seriously needs a spackle & paint job, but I'm only paying $25/mo.
My one and only complaint is cleanliness. They have dispensers of disinfectant wipes everywhere, but they don't enforce it enough. I think I have seen one man use one. Most women use them, but come on guys...I have learned how to politely share the leg press. You need to learn how to use the wipes. Would be nice to see the staff occasionally walking around and wiping down stuff not being used throughout the day.

the facility is in poor shape. I had two machines break on me in one day. The child care is a joke. My 6 month old was left in his carseat the entire time i was working out and there were only two other kids. The gym is overpriced for what you get and the salesmen are crooks. Be careful of all the extra fees they charge that they don't tell you about when you sign up.

I love this gym. I am a lifter and do athletic training. This gyms equipment is perfect for me as it has a huge athletic training universal cage with ropes, TRX, rebounder, punching bag, Pull up bars, kettle bells, and monkey bars. So much fun. On top of that, they also have a real Oly platform with bumper plates. Great prices too.

I just hate this place. It is so hard to cancel the membership. I went to the store to cancel it and they told me it got canceled. But they still keep charging me every month until I notice it. I have to contact their manager and he send me a contact email to cancel it. There are a lot of back and forth. I have to let my bank block them. Their cancellation process is terrible.

Terrible gym, holes in the ceiling not getting fixed for months, broken equipment, no sanitation bottles, terrible management. I often see the staff sitting around and playing chess whilst the bathroom is dirty, weights need to be racked, floor needs to be cleaned, etc. $30+ x month is not worth if for me for this dump.

I've sampled most of the bigger Gyms in Seattle and like this one (and it's other Seattle area affiliates) best because of the vibe. Yeah the staff are friendly. but so are the other customers who seem to be there to work out, not hang around to see if anyone they know shows up, or sit on machines to socialize or read. Having plenty of equipment probably helps. There's plenty of parking, lockers, etc. It's not as cold as some gyms or hot & humid as others--it's like they figured out some kind of machine that maintains the temperature and circulation or something! I haven't experienced any of the billing problems other people mentioned, and I've stopped and started 3 times.
