I've been pole dancing for 16 years and this is the studio I go to for freestyling. Jean is the main instructor for the Freestyle Plus class. Weekly I see her balancing a class for folks who are learning to freestyle (goes out of her way to talk to new students and introduce them around, providing multiple movement suggestions throughout the warm up, giving different 'exercises' to focus on exploring) and folks who have been freestyling for quite some time (encouraging people to listen to their bodies even if it doesn't go with a suggestion she's offered, giving full songs to dance through rather than cutting them off).
This class is both exercise, being creative, and mindful meditation. I adore it and go every. single. week.
It's a smaller studio - 4 poles - but with decent enough space around them to be comfortable for 7 or 8 students to move around. Equipment is solid, with equipment supporting cross-training disciplines available as well. I know multiple instructors are trained in other disciplines.
Highly recommend!
One last note: to the student who claimed the instructor went out of her way to not talk to you - I know you work at another pole studio nearby and competition is scary but lying about your experience (because I was in that class and the instructor gushed to you about your dancing after the warm-up, the exercise, AND the first round of group dances) is not appropriate.

Small but super cute space, very welcoming and warm environment. The freestyling prompts are fun and thought provoking. Always a great space to go to dance!

I really appreciate this studio for its focus on movement and flow along with the encouragement that I feel from instructors and classmates alike to explore my own body. It’s a super cozy space and the energy always feels inviting for me.

Jean was so welcoming in the space and during class. She made me feel comfortable despite how nervous I was. I’ll definitely be coming back!

This is my home studio in every sense of the word. After being adrift for a few years, Jean created a cozy, safe that’s allowed me to reconnect with dance that’s truly felt like a homecoming. The class sizes are intimate but not so small that I feel too perceived (iykyk), there are a variety of low flow and freestyle classes throughout the week, the space is a total vibe, and the instructors are genuine and encouraging. I can’t recommend Jae enough!

Had a lovely experience dancing here this week! The instructors have all been great to work with. I particularly enjoyed the more intimate setting which is different than a lot of studios I have been to. Super excited to have this gem in the neighborhood.

I really wanted to like it here or at the very least support another local studio! As someone who does way too many pole tricks and not enough flowing these days, I was looking forward to just letting loose a little bit in a freestyle class. The space is cozy and clean which is nice, but it was an extremely cliquey atmosphere. Everyone knew everyone else in class, it seemed, which is nice, but it was a pretty closed off vibe. I was briefly told where to put my bag and after that, pretty much ignored the rest of class. It felt like the instructor went out of her way to not address me although she addressed everyone else by name, which is weird because I know her to be a friendly and kind person from a previous studio. Needless to say, as my self consciousness and sense of invisibility grew, I didn’t feel much like dancing, and I just sort of went through the motions until I had a moment to cut out (early). I don’t think I will be back. I hope the studio learns from this experience and makes more of an effort to integrate non-regulars.

I love this studio <3 The teachers are very beginner friendly and I love taking my pole baby friends here for their first class. The vibes are so friendly and enthusiastic. I really like this studio for more dancey flowey classes and all of the staff are amazing. 10/10 love dancing here!

Came to the beginner class super excited with my friend, since its in seattle our "early bus" ended up making us get there 2 minutes past the start time.
We got completely ghosted from the owner when we tried the call button, and I texted as well with no response. I understand wanting people to be on time however we had never taken a class like this before and didnt expect the rules to be this harsh. Truly we were only 2 minutes late because it was difficult to find the building once we ran off our bus. 45minutes of travel and $80 spent on tickets for no reason. Never been to a class or appointment in my life that's not given reasonable leeway. We were incredibly enthusiastic to take this class and totally crushed to get ghosted like that. And to be honest I don't even know if the class even happened, cause again, 0 responses.
Never taken a dance class before so if being slightly late is some huge sin then my bad, but again, this was a beginner class. So expect beginners who don't know how this stuff works. I read up on their FAQ and it said they wanted you there 10min early, again the bus was late. Wasn't able to call ahead about that because the number is text only and the connection was spotty on the bus. With no further explanation besides possibly distrupting the flow (which it was 2 minutes so assuming they literally just started), I don't think its reasonable to fully not allow people in. I wanted to go, I had never been there before, the building was difficult to find even with directions, and nowhere does it say you'll be banned from entering at 6:30. Just says the door locks and for entering you need to use the call button (which they didnt answer). Incredibly disappointing considering how cool the class looked and how nice the other reviews are. Only reccommend this if you're willing to potentially lose your money for being even a minute late.

Jae Studios is a soft place to land for indulgent freestyle, movement exploration, and instructors who create a kind & inclusive space. Not only are the folks at Jae fun & supportive, they're also extremely knowledgeable about pole and accommodating different bodies and abilities. Hannah's Freestyle Sequencing on Wednesday evenings has been such a treat and I look forward to her lesson and positive energy each week! Jean's freestyle classes are also such a breath of fresh air. Her playlists, movement promps, and warmth bring an energy that make you feel like you can dance to Pink Pony Club on repeat 😉

I cannot recommend Jae Studios enough! Had my first beginner class with Jean last night, and I am already hooked. She made it such a fun, comfortable and exploratory environment. I booked multiple more classes the second I left and cannot wait to be back for more beginner classes/to advance into beyond beginner and be a regular. Check them out, you will not regret it!

Had a great experience at Jae! The studios are clean and the equipment is top notch. As a new student their online guide for new students and FAQ's were so helpful. I felt very comfortable and the instruction helped me unlock some skills I had been trying to nail for a while. Will be back :)

This cozy space is exactly what I needed in my life. So far I have taken only movement-based classes, but absolutely look forward to some of the other enrichment classes offered! The instructors are kind, inclusive, and more than willing to accommodate students who need modifications. I love that the class offerings are designed to meet students where they are at, from those who are new to a particular movement style (dance, Barre, Tai chi, etc.), to those who may have more experience. As a dancer, I enjoy the focus on freestyle and feel very supported by the curriculum for those days where I need more guidance, or days where I want a little more freedom in the prompts/direction given to me. Bonus points for the variety of beverages that they offer for sale! What feels the best is that I never have that "I don't want to go to class" feeling when I am scheduled at Jae. I know that I can show up as I am and be supported and cared for, which really means a lot.

This space is so special and unique within Seattle. I have loved every class I have taken thus far (so far I’ve taken barre, freestyle dance, and pole transitions classes), and can’t wait to see what they will do next! Every instructor is so kind, welcoming, accepting, passionate about what they do, and it’s obvious they are very well qualified to be instructing (example: when leading a barre, pole of freestyle dance class you know they are going to guide you through things safely and help you find other options/modifications that work best for your body). When you go to a space you want to know you’ll be safe in every sense, and I feel that safety here. Another thing I appreciate is the smaller class size. It makes me feel even more connected to the humans in the room with me, helps me because I tend to feel overwhelmed in large rooms with many other people, and the smaller class size allowed me to get more personalized feedback and help with some transition moves I was learning in a pole class. I’m looking forward to exploring more of Jae’s offerings and workshops. Highly recommend this space!

This space is a stunning sanctuary of warmth, healing, and play. I took pole transitions and it was so clear the instructor had years of movement education and experience. I learned about my body and learned some new moves. I also got to let everything go and freestyle. I hope to take every class they offer - I’m so excited!
