About the Club

At Kia Ora we know you want to be healthy. To do this, you need access to exercise equipment and coaching that works with your life schedule.

The problem is that it is challenging to fit your life around a fixed exercise schedule. This makes you feel you will never be able to make it work.

We get it. We understand how defeating it feels to reach the point when you are free to workout, only to realize that the gym is about to close or that you just missed your favorite class.

That is why we are open 24 hours daily and offer a variety of virtual classes that guide you through a safe, fun, effective workout anytime around the clock.

We had a family member ship it was my dad my brother and my 2 cousins the owner called my dad and said he wants to terminate the contract because supposedly we’re not all family even though we are we were regular goers and didn’t break anything or hurt the gym in any way

We had the worst experience here today with my daughter. We spent $30 for a 20 minute lesson which ended up only being 15 minutes because Shaila in the front was checking us in and started talking to someone else while we were waiting and never told us we could go back. It was incredibly rude she just ignored us while we stood there while she talked to someone else until I asked if we could go back. We were 5 minutes late to our appointment. Then for the 15 minutes of swim lessons, my daughter mostly just was told to play with toys in the water. For $30 she learned nothing new or any tips to prevent her from drowning which was the whole reason for the lesson. I am so disappointed and upset. We drove over 20 minutes just for this. It was such a waste of time and money.

I am canceling my membership and never going back. I joined the gym in Jan of 2025. On Feb , I had a devastating house fire and lost everything. I called the gym, explained the situation and asked to cancel my membership. They gym suggested suspending the membership and I chose to suspend until May. Within 3 or 4 days, I began getting recorded calls citing my payment was missed. Confused I called they gym and they didn't know why I was getting these calls. About a week later a person left a message stating because my payment Jan 20th (I don't remember the exact date) was before the fire they wanted there $28 (rounding up). I have been a bit buzy with insurance, dealing with a difficult departure from the residence, and balancing tight money from being on a fixed income. My days consist of non stop phone calls, emails and appointments to keep myself off the street. So no I didn't call them right back. My fire happened late Feb 1 and went way into the morning of Feb 2. The clean up for the fire site wasn't done until Feb 9th. Very few monthly bills were paid on time and every single creditor waived fees, showed empathy, and went out of thier way to help me. Kia Ora? Yeah they turned me into collections who now leaving recording on my phone several times a day. It hadn't been 3 weeks since a fire and you turned me into collections? You could have wait until the smoke cleared (literally) for your miniscule payment. Now that things have settle down, I will pay the money and I won't go back. Your lack of empathy for a new member who had a tradgey over less than $30 says a great deal on how you handle you business. I would rather pay $10 more for a gym with less amenities. Besides you allow the people at the pool to be incredibly rude.

For the membership cost, the equipment is a little outdated but the classes are pretty awesome.

Pool hours are a huge issue. Not only are public hours rarely if ever communicated, but even when they are, there is rarely room for gym members to swim during after-work hours. I'm frequently told theres always suppose to be a lane open for members, and a handful of times that has been followed through. If you're joining for pool accessibility, this wouldn't be the most convenient or accommodating.

The soap and shampoo offered in bathrooms and showers also just feels like hand sanitizer, and it doesn't quite lather.

READ UPDATE BELOW!

The ONLY reason I am not giving 5 stars is because there aren’t any kettlebells.

The young lady at the front desk is always cleaning. The facility is very organized and sanitary. Love the pool size and 24 hour access to the sauna; which side note has its own women’s and own men’s.

UPDATE: after being told my daughter would be able to have full access to the gym and her actually utilizing that feature I was sent an email with a warning and a fee sheet that if I allowed my minor daughter to enter the gym after staffed hours I would be fined and or suspended. Two employees informed me upon sign up that she would have full access AND when I called to check on this, the representative confirmed she is a full access member.

In addition to this, today an instructor interrupter my workout for unsolicited advice on where I was performing my box jumps- when I didn’t take her suggestion she was clearly offended and said “ you will break your shins doing that.” I thanked her again and informed that I am a personal trainer. Terrible. I won’t be renewing my membership!
Lifequest I will be back!

I really like that it has been updated since I was a member last time. It's clean and quiet during the times I have been there, which I really like. I think some of the staff needs more training for peoples important questions to get proper answers. Over all it's a pretty good place, especially for Seniors

I wish I would have read more reviews on this facility. This place locks you into a ridiculous contract. I signed my son up for swim lessons. The documents were not clear and now I am stuck in a contract and being forced to pay $125 for 4 swim lessons, the swimming instructor didn't show up for one class and I am still being charged for it. Myself and three other families sat around and waited almost 20 mins before someone approached us. This place is not professional at all. I still have not received a response to my email in regards to the no show yet I have received emails about payment. Find somewhere else to workout and get swim lessons. Not worth the headache.

gym is alright i like the old machines, heard bad stuff about the owners like they don’t let you cancel and mean mug you but i don’t really have to deal with that since i go pretty late when there is no staff. only reason i’m giving 3 stars is because there sauna in the men’s locker room has been broken 2 times this year and it takes them almost 2 months to fix it.

Kia Ora is a joke! Their contracts lock you in and they don’t even give you a chance to try it out before the agreement. They sent my bill to collections for my full contract without notifying me of any missed payments. I called to cancel my membership and they told me I couldn’t because they only allow to cancel within the first 3 days of contract. I called several times and left voicemails asking for call backs and never received any call backs. I finally got ahold of the desk on the fourth day and spoke to the owner who was VERY RUDE and just wanted to argue with me over the phone. All the equipment is outdated and the pool hours aren’t that great either. I’m not the first person that’s been screwed over by them. DO NOT GO TO KIA ORA!

2 stars because I can’t rate how it was to work out there, but customer service is lacking.

Wanted to try a free pass but my brother couldn’t fill out the application online because he wasn’t over 23, which is apparently their age limit. Called to confirm this was true and I let the front desk woman know I was 29 and he was 21 and asked if there was any way he could work out. She said only 23 and older could use a free day pass but if we paid a day pass fee then he could work out. Once we got there she took a look at our IDs and turned us away saying only 23 and older can be guests. Not a big deal that gyms have their weird rules but would have been nice to know all the information prior to driving out there - not sure if the front desk woman had an issue with us working out there or she truly didn’t know her own policies. Nothing on the website gives an indicator that 23 is the limit to be a guest.

Other impressions: We went at 1030 am on a Thursday and the gym was full of older adults leaving a class and working out, but didn’t see any younger adults there. Wasn’t even offered a tour or anything while there.

Absolutely appalling experience with this pool facility. If there were an option to award zero stars, I would not hesitate. Investing in a family membership proved to be a colossal mistake, especially for those who wish to utilize the open pool at their leisure. The facility imposes unreasonable restrictions, prohibiting children from accompanying their parents during times when lifeguards are absent—which, astonishingly, is almost always, given that lifeguards are on duty for a mere two days a week for a limited number of (2) hours. This crucial information is conveniently omitted during the sign-up process, leaving members blindsided. To add insult to injury, should this revelation dawn on you within a month of membership, do not expect any form of refund for the remaining 11 months. This deceptive practice is nothing short of a scam, entrapping members with misleading promises and delivering a service that falls woefully short of expectations. Beyond these issues, I also observed roof leaks and inconsistent water temperature, further diminishing the facility's appeal. The facility urgently needs to increase lifeguard hours to accommodate the needs of its members. On a solitary positive note, the boy at the reception/office is helpful, a stark contrast to the rest of the staff.

Liked the pool initially but it had to be cleaned and repaired in Sept. While it was down, a new ladder was installed. The older disabled people complained to the owner that it was unstable and difficult to ascend, especially with people with balance issues. One person was injured recently and the owners response was that people who have no upper body strength should not be in the pool. The whole reason older people go to do water exercises is to try and maintain or regain strength. Some are recovering from chemo or injury.

I do not recommend this gym at all. Their equipment and pool are nice, but their customer service is terrible. I have been trying for months now to get a hold of them over the phone since I'm now out of state to cancel my membership and have rarely been able to talk to someone. They then tell me a manager is the only person who can cancel, so I've requested a phone call when they are shift, and that has never happened. Now, when i call, it doesn't even go through. I think they stay open just from the memberships that they force people to be stuck into than people actually using their gym.

I have recommended Kia Ora to all my family and friends, but I regret it! Being Polynesian and knowing the true meaning of KIA ORA “The owner” Lisa has no idea or right to represent MY people. Lisa is entitled and feels like her being “The owner” gives her the right to harass people who Pay for a Membership! Every time I go to the gym, and she is there I am so uncomfortable. I see her watching me and my friends like we are about to steal weights or a treadmill!!

One night we were headed to the back room to work out and we noticed she was watching us walk to the back room, Lisa “The owner” got off the stage in the gym and followed us to the back room. Lisa "The owner" walked in the back room angerly and started yelling at my friend for having her gym bag with her (WE WERE NEVER TOLD WE COULDN’T HAVE OUR GYM BAGS WITH US) and continued to tell us ALL that she is “The owner” and those are HER rules! I really loved this gym and ignored the outdated equipment until I met Lisa “The owner”. She is unprofessional, very hateful, and full of herself.

Therefore, the equipment is outdated, the cable machine is always falling off its track and will jam mid workout, no stair steppers, rowing machine doesn’t work, ripped seats on stretch machines, rusted weights, bugs in the locker room and sauna, so much dust on top of the lockers, bathroom floors are disgusting, and they have the Rudest woman as “The Owner”.

Iv always enjoyed Kia Ora; the hours are great, and the early morning vibe is incredible; that is when there’s is no staff at the gym! Not knocking any of the staff members; most were all pretty pleasant to deal with. As for the Owners, Karl has always been friendly and made me feel welcome; he seems, for the most part, a hard worker! BUT!! Co-Owner Lisa is far from friendly!! She walks around the gym like she’s better than everyone! She introduces herself as (LISA, THE OWNER OF THE GYM). Most members I talk to at Kia Ora have had nothing but negative interactions with (LISA, THE OWNER OF THE GYM). The two times I spoke to her, she made me feel unwelcome! LISA, THE OWNER OF THE GYM, is a rude human! I've also always known that the Gym does need a lot of upgrades, such as old equipment, ripped treadmill belts, and broken elliptical; the majority of their equipment is at least 15-20+ years old. Therefore, with all that being said, I would rate this gym at one star! GYM NEEDS UPGRADE AND OWNER NEED TO WORK ON HER PEOPLE SKILL!

If I could give negative stars. I would.

Let me start by saying, I LOVED this gym. The staff is amazing, but the OWNERS are extremely unprofessional. In my first weeks here, I was completely told off over the phone by the male owner, leaving myself in tears all because I was told I could take my son there, and guess someone misinformed me.

Moving forward to a few weeks ago, the female owner, NEVER greets me or is even kind when I walk in, she always uncomfortably stares at me and my one night was actually WATCHING me and my every move and constantly coming into my area around me that I actually got so uncomfortable, that I left.

Now, tonight, I went in, and brought my niece as a guest which I had done the day prior and paid for. I am a black card holder, because I’ve referred numerous people to this gym. And the female owner was at the front, with her uninviting stare the minute I walked in and I told her I wanted to pay for my nieces guest pass, she asked us if she had been in before and if she had signed a waiver which she hadn’t bc no previous employee has ever told us about that. I’ve brought two different guest before and never been told. Just paid and was allowed in. I explained that to her, just so she knew that her employees didn’t do this step. She apparently felt offended, and said and I QUOTE, “So I am the owner of this gym!, so let me introduce myself to YOU…. I BUILT this gym and worked very hard to do so and am and I’m telling you that you have to sign a waiver!” And I was so taken back, by her approach to this situation. When I never argued her waiver. She felt she could degrade and belittle me due to her being the owner. Being a business owner myself, I’m absolutely disgusted by both of these owners and how they speak to customers. Now, I cannot cancel my membership because I’m on a whole contract with these awful people till October. :)

I REALLY loved this gym and raved about it to everyone, tagged it in all my posts and told all my clients about it….. and I was driven away by the owners themselves.

So I hope they are incredibly proud of this environment they created, it’s no wonder it’s slow, they keep driving their own customers away. Hopefully they see this, because I won’t stop talking about how rude they are until they make it right.

This gym is nice but I don't like the pool. You walk in and the chlorine hits your eyes quick and it's muggy in there... Honestly my eyes we're burning when I walked out. Now it would be amazing if the staff would open the windows to air it out a bit.

I would not recommend this gym to anyone. I had an issue and went in person to talk to the owner. He was there but would not see me. He sent information through a wonderful young man named Brighton. The information Brighton gave me from the owner was not helpful at all. I then called and left messages four times. None of my calls were returned. On the fifth call I was lucky because the owner answered the phone. Ultimately we worked the issue out. However I would not recommend this gym.

I love the convenience of this gym. The equipment isn't the newest or flashiest, but they have everything that you need for a great workout. What has made me a client for life, though, is that this is the only gym in the Tri-Cities that adhered to COVID-19 protocols and didn't rebrand as a medical facility to skirt the rules. A fitness/wellness business should actually care about the health and wellbeing of their patrons, and Kia Ora obviously does, as evidenced by their integrity and dedication to keeping everyone safe throughout the pandemic.

Incompetent staff either they are too involved asking everytime you come in if you checked in (there is a scanner at the door) and uncomfortably staring at you while working out, playing on their phones or legit just sitting on equipment or if you ask a question no one knows the answer everything is open ended and ownership is unresponsive. It's not the cleanest gym either the sauna, pool and locker room smell like mold and are visably dirty.Try it before buying in yo see for yourself but I wouldn't recommend can't wait for my membership to be over.

Alrighty, I've been coming here for a while and can say this is my favorite gym. I have worked for Club 24 and Planet Fitness. Club 24 was awesome but I didn't really like the fact that they didn't have an enourmous swimming pool, a sauna, hot tub, an empty boxing room and so much more. Don't get me started on Planet Fitness... I'll never step foot in one of those again.

Anyways, back to Kia Ora. I loved everything the moment I walked in. I got a day pass to try it out and it was a blast. I love the equipment and the basic selection. The basketball court, the punching bag in the virtual class room, the hot tub near the 25m swimming pool... yea, this place is worth the price. Starting my workout session on the punching bag gives me a good drive to start my workout.

People here are really nice as well, I have no complaints about other members. Everybody has been polite and asked if I'm using the equipment or start a conversation. The two workers I have met, Daniel and Lisa, have been super cool. Thank you Kia Ora for providing an awesome gym for a spectacular price!

This is a locally run business by a couple that have lived in the community for 20+ years, which I always love. Support small business! They care a lot about the health of their clientele and work hard to provide services that are just as good as the big box gyms - I would argue better because their staff are all people who care deeply about the community. They have done a great job following safety protocols during COVID as well, which can't be said for other clubs in the area. Definitely check them out!

The only reason Kia Ora has 2 stars is because the pool area is maintained very well. I joined for the pool and then membership changed, cost me the same and now I have less access to the pool. So, in short, I pay to have minimal time for workout. And, because I work, the 2-3 hrs available to me are a kid zone (since we know parents use the pool as a babysitter for when they work out). I wonder how annoying those having gym classes would find it if there were kids running around getting in the way during their workout. Kids are kids, but I come to work out in the pool because of physical limitations and have no desire to interact with ir work out around (inconsiderate) children. Would be really nice to have a couple days of the week in the evening that wasn't open to "youth swim".

Yes, it is the cheapest place that has an indoor pool but it is almost always too cold to get into. The staff at the counter are always nice but the male owner isn't. Good classes that come with membership, even a sauna and hot tub.. but I needed a pool, that was what my membership was for. If I cant use it most of the time I have to as myself why do I still have a membership?

great gym machines and weights and almost always be available even when they're at their busiest it seems that you can get you whatever you're trying to get to pretty quickly and you can even do circuits they have plenty of classes they do have a swimming pool that's only open when staff is working I do have a 24-hour interest pass so I do go in sometimes when it is basically completely deserted I will enjoy going here for years to come the juice bar is great they have great blended protein shakes and whatever such things I do like coming here quite a bit my wife comes here as well we like to go here whenever we have a chance.

Do yourself a favor by not signing up here. It’s expensive, filthy, poorly maintained, and the owners are extremely unprofessional.

Not bad place, just bad training. One person told me that I was done paying my membership dues in December but yet they still took out for January! Bad communication and customer service. Very disappointed.

Until tonight my Kia Ora workouts have been phenomenal, my buddy and I love the less busy gym and good atmosphere. Tonight my friend and I were doing a form of skull crushers where you allow the weight to rest on the floor and then conduct a skull crusher and then put the weight back to the floor. Due to both of us going heavy on our weight the last inch or two the weight tends to fall back to the ground behind our heads. This creates a sound that is less loud then a deadlift hitting the ground would be. Halfway through our sets we were confronted by a lady, who we later found out would be the owner, who extremely rudely without asking us what we were doing told us "Do not throw my weights, and I know you were throwing them. This is a respectable place and unless you want to buy me a new bar don't throw them." When we tried to explain what we were doing she cut my friend off saying, "well you're going to hurt your shoulders anyways so don't throw my weights." Then proceeded to walk off without a please or thank you. She was so rude it completely killed our motivation to workout and just made us mad and want to leave. I mentioned deadlifts earlier because we asked the front desk and they said people are allowed to deadlift in the gym which would have been much louder. It's unfortunate the owner of all people would treat customers this way.

Very good facilities (including pool and open gym. The staff are really excellent. Lisa provides small instructions re body position during yoga poses and Pilates that result in you getting more out of it. I love the Les Mills classes. Easier to put in the effort with a group and the rhythm of the music

I went to use the pool because of bad Back and shoulders, but the pool was icy cold. I tried running in water buy it was hard to get use of temperature. My physician Joseph Salinas suggested I swim and use hot tub to work it out. My insurance Apple Health would not accept massage therapy. Found out pool was being used by Southridge swim team Nov 2018 - Fen 2018 330pm-530pm and that is why temperature so cold. The Manager Carl should of let members know by phone, text, email or by letter. All I found was sign posted on bathroom wall I am still in pain it has been 5 days have not been able to use Kiaora Pool. Maybe this evening.

Kia Ora is one of the best family gyms in the Tri-cities. Their classes are fun and the instructors are FANTASTIC. I haven't gone to a single class where the instructor didn't welcome me personally. Each member of the staff is very kind and welcoming. I recommend this gym to all my friends and family.

I love this pool, and the recumbent bicycle. I have been a member for years, and it is a relaxing place. Classes are good. Older place but keeps cost of membership down. Opportunity to get on computer for help with healthy lifestyle. Trainers are well educated and professional.

I enjoy the pool and sauna! It's more conveince over quality. It's adequate but nothing exceptional. It is less crowded than other gyms and has an older clientele. So less gym rats.

Really disappointed with my interaction with this business, most specifically the owner. I was told when I signed up (not only on the phone, but in person) that my 10 year old could work out with me at the facility (treadmills and resistance bands). After being a member for 5-6 months, my daughter and I went in (after working out before there) and were told that due to insurance reasons, she couldn't be on the workout floor. I was disappointed, as I was told beforehand specifically that it was ok she works out, but was willing to move past the misrepresentation by the employee if they were willing to make it right. After speaking with the owner, Karl, I was informed that they would not refund my money and they acted as if canceling my contract was a favor. The unfortunate part of this is that they wouldn't have received that revenue had they been honest up front as a business. I gave Karl the opportunity once again to refund my money stating my displeasure and was made to feel like the bad guy because I wasn't willing to just let it go. I very much dislike leaving negative reviews, as it's impactful for a business, but this is beyond acceptable for me as a consumer, and as a business person myself. I caution you to look at other options when searching for a gym.

I could not agree more with Bill McMann. The lifeguards at Kia Ora are truly excellent. I always make sure to go when the lifeguard by the name of Dan is working. Dan has a knack for bringing happiness and a good spirit to the workplace while still doing his job effectively. I know that when I'm swimming at Kia Ora I'll be safe but still have a good time.

I really love the swimming area and specifically the lifeguards. They always do an excellent job of making sure that everyone in the pool is safe. I wouldn't feel safer at a military base because they do such an amazing job. They are never doing homework like some of the guards at other places I swim at.
