LA Fitness

Warning Women's Locker Room

Around 9 pm Tuesday November 25th I came to WS LA fitness with my 14-year-old daughter to work out. We had just joined recently and I went to swim laps while she went to use the treadmill. When I was done with my laps, I was sitting in the sauna when I kept seeing a naked figure walking by multiple times through the glass door. It caught my attention because the person was not carrying a change of clothes or towel and didn't seem to be doing anything, but wandering around exhibitionist style. The third or fourth time they walked by the door I saw a full male genitalia as well as fully developed breasts. I felt a sense of alarm as I didn't want my daughter to come in and encounter this. There's also no private places to change in and out of my suit or workout gear that are private unless I use the bathroom stalls. I am a a paying member of this athletic club and I do not want to be exposed to male genitalia in the female locker room, especially when it's in such a creepy exhibitionist manner. I was very uncomfortable, collected my belongings and got my daughter out of there quickly. When we walked back to the elevators to the parking garage there was no one attending the front desk that I could report this to or staff members I could see anywhere. I just wanted to get out of there.

Worst signature club. Desperately needs updating and a deep clean. The floor is also in terrible shape, carpet is patchy and coming up in areas presenting a hazard. Machines are often out of service, likely due to age and needing more repairs.

This gym is in a perpetual state of disfunction. I’ve seen pieces of equipment go MONTHS without be fixed, the equipment availability is already a joke, you can even reliably wipe down your equipment because the sanitizing wipes are almost always out of stock. This place is a dumpster fire

Update 11/22 - 7 weight machines and ellipticals have been waiting for maintenance for 3 weeks. Lousy service.

• Music is bad and close to 80 db most of the time. I barely hear my own music with my ANC earbuds. I hope OSHA reads this.
• Free wifi almost never works
• Paper towel dispensers either broken or empty.
• Equipment breaks and takes weeks to get fixed
• Very bad mix of weight machines

I liked this location, good equipment, great facilities, kind service, super clean! They only need to fix a few things: the doors in the showers, and have all exercise equipment working. I just got here and three out of three machines I use are not in working order. This is supposed to be a top-notch Signature location, right? 😁... So, why is maintenance so poor?

Frequent hot water outages. Signs on equipment for extended periods of time saying it’s scheduled for service. You pay an annual maintenance fee. But it doesn’t look like they actually apply it to equipment maintenance.

Update 11/21 - another day of cold showers. 8+ machines with out of order signs.

It's way too hot in this gym to get a decent workout. The clientele is nice, and they actually put weights back in the proper spot. This location has more machines than the Burien one, but it's way too hot in this gym. I can't push myself in my workout when I'm overheating. Based on other reviews, this has been a problem for months. Bummer. This gym is about 10 min from work.

I love this gym, it’s my go-to whenever I’m in town. I’m technically a member at another chain that I can go to, but this one is so good that I pay extra to come here. This location has the sweetest staff and teachers, Andrew and Tanya are the best and made sure my experience was top. Awesome amenities and huge floor plan. I wish they had LA fitness in my city.

The gym facilities are pretty good, but today I left my locker opened for about 20 seconds (or less) to get some body lotion a few feet away, and someone reached into my bag hung inside the locker and stole my cell phone and wallet. The front desk told me someone else just reported their wallet stolen a moment before also. Sad. So be vigilant when using this gym.

There have been at least half a dozen incidents in the last year where staff are either not present or unable to open the doors at opening. The gym is supposed to be open at 5am on weekdays, but on multiple occasions myself and other patrons have waited until 5:30 or 5:45 as the opening employee is either late or can’t open the door. Very frustrating being stuck standing in the cold and unable to access the gym.

When moving across the country I was told by a representative in the gym that he would cancel my membership for me. This was a blatant lie as they have been charging me for a year now. This gym appears to be well equipped with a variety of modern cardiovascular machines, weightlifting equipment, and functional training areas. However, it can sometimes be quite busy, especially during evenings and weekends, leading to crowded equipment racks and limited access to popular machines. Additionally, there is a strong scent of sweat upon entering, which might be improved with better ventilation or regular air purifying measures to enhance the overall atmosphere.

This was one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a long time.

I had been in contact with Damon from sales about getting a full-year membership for myself. He assured me that everything was fine and I could go ahead and use the facilities while we were finalizing details. As a single mother with a young child, I was excited to try the pool together and work out.

However, when we entered the swimming area, we were immediately made to feel uncomfortable. A British swim class that was taking place seemed to target us—I was stared down the entire time, and as we were already about to leave, the LA Fitness manager approached me to say I wasn’t allowed to be there. Clearly, there had already been a conversation about me, because I felt the stares long before I was confronted.

The biggest issue is how disorganized and unprofessional this was. On one hand, Damon, the sales rep, told me it was perfectly fine for us to use the pool. On the other hand, the manager acted as though I didn’t belong at all. That disconnect shows how little communication there is within this establishment. Instead of treating me like a valued potential member, I was made to feel racially profiled and judged, as if I didn’t have the means to afford a membership.

This experience left my son and me extremely uncomfortable. It was disrespectful, unwelcoming, and completely unprofessional. We will never return to this location.

I travel for work so I have an LA Fitness plan that allows me to use any one in the country. I almost didn’t come to this one because I’ve never seen an LA Fitness rated so low, so was concerned, but it was the closest one to Uber to. The gym itself is nice enough, all of the equipment I needed, sauna, etc. But…..when I arrived, I finally realized why the ratings are abysmal…..literally the rudest staff I’ve ever encountered anywhere. Not just at an LA Fitness…an-y-where. It was almost like one of those restaurants where the staff is rude and nasty to you on purpose. Seriously. From the guy at the front desk to the other 2 employees I spoke with when looking for equipment since it wasn’t my home location. Laughably rotten attitudes.
Who hurt y’all? Perhaps an employee therapy program might be appropriate? Either way, I hope those people get the help they need. I can’t imagine walking around my daily life being that miserable of a human being.
Nice gym tho! So that’s what the 1 star is for.

Terrible gym. If it weren't for the fact that other gyms in the area have very little equipment or don't cater to weightlifting, this gym would be out of business. Equipment is constantly broken, the place is dirty, and weights are often left all over the place and not returned to their correct spot. Can't wait for competition to come to the area.

Good selection of equipment and open at good times, but they continue raising the price of the membership, the gym is also insanely busy any time after 4 so be prepared. Disappointed in the lack of repairing of equipment in the gym, it takes them months to fix handles for machines that the rubber has practically come off of, leaving sticky black stuff on the metal bars. The music here is also quite annoying to listen to half the time, having 4 Taylor swift songs in slo mo in a row just isn’t pleasing.

Edit: They have ended up replacing many of the broken handles on machines which I am happy about, and I haven’t heard a lot of Taylor swift as of lately which is great. I still am disappointed with the price you have to pay to go here and how busy it gets any time after 4.

I want to give this more stars because I enjoy going here, and the people who use the gym and the people who work there are nice. This location has a pool, which is great to have. Rating 3 stars because compared to other LA Fitness locations, which consistently have a “pristine” feel in terms of cleanliness, this location doesn’t seem to have the same cleaning staff allocated, which is visible in both presentation as well as the fact as they are frequently out of cleaning wipes for equipment and sanitation stations (both hand sanitizer and wipes). In other cubs, you see more people constantly cleaning. In the spin room, seemingly every bike I try has something broken with it. I hope they can direct more attention to these things to stay comparable to other locations.

WORST Front Desk Service: Kate

I’ve been a loyal LA Fitness customer for over 8 years—both directly and more recently through Wellhub (via my employer)—and have visited many of your locations across different cities and states. Unfortunately, I had one of my worst customer service experiences today and I feel compelled to share it.

During my past visits to this location, I’ve always been provided a towel upon request. I was unaware that my membership tier through Wellhub (Titanium) did not include towel service, as this was never communicated before—and previous staff members had always been accommodating.

Today, however, when I asked for a towel, the front desk employee, Kate, informed me I wasn’t eligible. I explained the misunderstanding and asked if I could please have a towel just for today, since I hadn’t brought one and had planned to shower before a brunch meeting. Her response was a firm “no,” followed by “it’s only $2.” I was willing to pay, but I didnt bring my wallet and asked to use Apple Pay, which she declined, stating that only card or cash was accepted. At that point, I had no choice but to skip my shower and leave frustrated.

My question to LA Fitness is this: is it worth prioritizing a $2 policy over delivering good customer service to a long-time member? I understand policies exist, but there’s always room for a little empathy and flexibility—especially for one-off situations like this.

If you use the women's lock room the staff will bully you and attack you for moving the trashcan that separates the glhot shower sauna room from the cooler locker dressing room because tje cleaning staff is too incompetent to know how to open a door for cleaning purposes. I encourage every woman to move the trash can for a better dressing experience without being sweaty while trying to get dressed. The excuses they provide for proving the door open is pathetic. It's not because people are distracted and bump into the door. It's not because of ada compliance. It's not because the ac works better in the shower room that the lockerroom. The manager specifically told me his staff is too stupid to open and close the door to mop properly and he is going to support them and they stupidity instead of paying customers needs. If standing up for myself and my autistic needs considers me aggressive so be it. Move the trashcan.

UPDATE 5/19/25: received an automated email saying they’re raising prices on what was promised to be a lifetime rate. What can I say 😂🙃 Whoever is running this company is hell bent on destroying it.

UPDATE 5/28/24: lots of equipment still broken. Laundry (no towels) broken for a month. Got chastised today for asking the manager about timelines on fixing stuff. Other positive reviews are shills from personal training - they give promos for reviews. Do not come here.

It’s a gym. They have most of what you need and the price is okay. However, they are *horrible* at maintaining equipment and the facility. Seemingly because they have a semi-monopoly and don’t have to do it.

Ex: Decline bench has been broken for *months*. Sauna door has no spring and slams horribly. They have too few squat racks and benches.

They promised a remodel almost two years ago to fix major issues (this was a hard sell tactic when I signed up), yet this week they remodeled (removing their basketball court) and turned it into…. a paid training only area.

This gym will work. It’s just poorly run and you should go elsewhere if you can afford it and if better options open up nearby. Vote with your dollars for quality customer service and business ethics.

Don’t sign-up for anything! Told one thing about a contract and that cancellation just required that I alert them of my intention to cancel before the end of the month so I would not be charged for the following month. I did that and found I needed to pay for the upcoming 8 months!!! Tbeir employee working on a commission no doubt - lied and promised some thing he had no authority to promise. His boss said she spent a week cleaning up his “messes”. Employee terminated for same type of lies to other clients and yet LA Fitness “management” unable to refund charges!
I asked for contact information to speak to an upper level manager and could only be given a PO Box number address in California because the local managers are not given leadership phone numbers. Terrible customer service. It cost me $860!

I used to love coming to this gym when Jeremy was the manager—he was always welcoming and made the environment feel positive. Unfortunately, the new manager has completely changed the experience. When I came in to add my guest to the app, she spoke to me in a belittling and condescending way, as if I was stupid for not knowing the process. Instead of being helpful, she made me feel unwelcome.

I’ve also talked to other members who feel the same way—the energy in the gym just isn’t the same anymore. A gym should feel like a supportive space, not one where the manager makes people uncomfortable. Really disappointing.

I agree completely with Corey Dickinson's review below. This West Seattle LA Fitness facility was once nice and now it is tragically neglected and unclean.

I had two recent experiences that I would like to also share:

Last week, a man was working out with dumbells and began yelling angrily at no one in particular, then throwing his weights down. It appeared to be a mental health incident, and several members and I brought it to the attention of the club manager. This went on for over 90 minutes with everyone present, including myself, steering clear of him for their own safety. He eventually left without anyone from LA Fitness ever addressing the safety problem he presented.

This week, on checking in to work out, my membership card caused a check-in alert that indicated that I no longer had access to the club. My signature dues are current and paid a year in advance as they have been for over 14 years. ANI BLACKWELL spoke to me about it, and I explained to her that it seemed there may have been some kind of error in the system. I suggested she call to check about it.

At this moment ANI made it clear that I needed to call it in and she would not, and that I would not be able to work out there until I did. She became verbally abusive when I persisted, and then threatened to call the police.

I discovered that there had in fact been a problem with my dues renewal several months ago, and that my Signature status had somehow gotten dropped from my account. I was able to get it corrected when I arrived back home to call, but it seems so unnecessary that Ani should have been so unprofessional about it, and to be so unwilling to contact he LA Fitness management for what could have been an easily resolved issue.

I don't expect that Ani will continue working at LA Fitness with her horrible level of professionalism and respect for those who pay her salary, but I would encourage other members at West Seattle LA Fitness to approach her with caution, as she has demonstrated such a volatile nature.

La fitness w seattle has great amenities: sauna hot tub and smoothie bars at some locations. I'm not a fan of personal training. It was costly, and I did not use all of my visits. If you don't use the sessions, they run dry with no rollover. W seattle is my choice location because its a signature gym - they clean often and take care of routine maintenance. I get that gyms have constant upkeep, so as a reviewer, I can overlook the ac issues or machines going out at times (happens once in a blue moon). They are very attentive to their equipment and making for a quality stay. Most non signature gyms will miss the mark in key areas, especially with providing privacy curtains in showers or fixing water damage or leaky cielings.
Let's face it if you use a gym every day, the machines will eventually need replacing or maintenance. Its not like they have an endless supply of machines they switch out between guests. I am impressed with the level of superb quality this gym provides its guests. I think they should promote a smoothie bar or a reading corner to help guide guests on healthier living. Also the children area is not usable here. It should be the standard across all the gyms in the la fitness network to require gyms to have this open until closing (not everyone works a standard job and childcare is a struggle). I've heard from various guests that the pft room is a wasted space. It seems it's empty nearly all the time. They would like for the gym to put the basketball court back. Lastly, please turn on the sauna and hot water for the showers before 5 am for the early risers. The temperature is usually at 120 to 140 degs at the start of the day. A cold shower is very unsatisfying before work. On good days, they have the sauna at 180 or above which makes for a perfect experience.

They are UNPROFESSIONAL sales people at the end of the day. Saying they’ll hook you up if you hook them up at your work (very weird behavior from a sales person just giving the basic membership). The gym is consistently busy during operating hours, with peak times between 4 PM and 7 PM. High school students frequently dominate the space, often occupying 90% of the equipment. Unfortunately, many of them aren’t there to work out but to socialize, sit on their phones, and disrupt the environment, which has become especially frustrating this year.

As a female member, I’ve witnessed inappropriate behavior from some male patrons. Quite a few arguments have broken out at this gym with some male patrons threatening other people.

Hygiene among gym-goers is also a concern, with some neglecting basic cleanliness. Additionally, personal space and boundaries are almost nonexistent, which can make the experience even more unpleasant.

The gym would benefit greatly from adding more free weights and benches. The equipment selection is limited compared to other LA Fitness locations and even local competitors. Many West Seattle gyms have surpassed this location with newer, better-maintained equipment and superior amenities like improved airflow. For instance, Planet Fitness has made significant upgrades recently that put this LA Fitness to shame.

In the summer, the gym frequently struggles with AC and ventilation issues. The lack of proper airflow makes the space humid, smelly, and uncomfortably hot, which has made working out during warmer months particularly challenging.

I'm able to go to all LA fitnesses. I really do like the West Seattle one. It's not quite as busy and I've never run into hafting to wait for somebody else to get done swimming before I swim. All LA fitness clubs which used to be adults only are now giving swimming lessons to kids. I don't understand this because there are plenty of places exclusively for kids swimming lessons that are not in adult fitness club

Adequate LA fitness (you get what you pay for). Good sized gym with decent equipment but 3-4 cardio machines are broken at any given time and the place fills up on week nights, which means you’re surrounded by so many people! Called them to cancel a personal training session because of sickness and they told me they’d charge me because it wasn’t 24 hours in advance and I re-clarified that it was because I was sick and didn’t want to get others sick. They stuck to their guns and said they had to charge me so I just came in and wore a mask so as not to get charged. Tough balance between running a decent establishment and having corporate policies with no flexibility that put others at risk.

NOV 2024 UPDATE: I've optimistically revised my AUG 2024 rating of One Star to Three Stars! Over the past month there's been a notable change at the West Seattle LA Fitness location. Specifically, the temperature seems to be more reasonable throughout the gym including the dressing rooms. Also, overall cleanliness is markedly improved. Kudos to the custodial team for their hard work and diligence in cleaning every nook and cranny. Accumulated dust and dirt around the equipment along the floor is gone. Also...there are rumors of a major facility upgrade coming soon. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to changing the rating soon to Five Stars!

AUG 2024: Realizing any business can have a bad day, I rarely post negative reviews. Appreciating that context, the West Seattle LA Fitness continues failing at resolving airflow and temperature control. This has been an ongoing issue for the past several years. No matter what the weather is, the gym will be hot and humid. Fortunately I have a backup gym via work and only need to use the W Seattle LAF on occasion.

I signed up for personal training in early 2022, and the experience was a nightmare nearly from the start. I had LOTS of last-minute trainer requests to reschedule appointments and/or notifications the trainer needed to cancel the training session altogether, an instance of a trainer not showing up for a scheduled appointment with no prior notice (and no explanation or apology later), and multiple training sessions deducted from my account for training sessions that never occurred (due to trainer cancellation). I tried to be patient, understanding, and flexible with the staff, but after repeatedly making the personal training manager aware of the issues and having the issues neither addressed nor resolved, I requested to end my contract and have a monetary refund issued for my remaining training sessions. I spoke with member services at LA Fitness Corporate and with management at my local gym and was told my request would need to be elevated to the District Vice President (DVP). I was told the DVP would contact me within 48 hours, but he never did. It took me nearly two weeks of almost daily follow-up with both Corporate and my local gym to get the DVP on the phone. When he finally did speak with me, he was dismissive of my concerns. He said all he could do was reinstate my missing sessions and that I was welcome to travel to another gym to use them. When I explained why that was not an acceptable path to resolution, he shut down the conversation saying it was his “final decision.” LA Fitness’s handling of this entire situation was unprofessional, dismissive, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable. I would never recommend that anyone sign up for personal training at an LA Fitness gym.

Nov 2024 update: After my previous review, higher level management resolved my issues. They were very apologetic. Probably unrelated, but the gym now has all new staff and management. It seems they've also moved away from 1-on-1 training and instead are doing small group training.

I have to say, this gym has been quite disappointing. For the second time, I've been assured that my membership would be frozen while I'm away for a month, yet I'm still being charged. They seem unable to provide any solutions, which feels very unprofessional. I really miss how this gym operated back in 2018.

This club has a great location, and it was once an excellent facility in my opinion. I am growing more and more frustrated with this club. There continually are numerous things broken at this facility at any given time. Presently, there are multiple cardio machines out of commission. There are also weights that have been damaged for over a year and never replaced. At the moment, the air conditioning is not working in areas of the gym. The AC failure is a recurring problem. In response, LA Fitness places large, loud fans throughout the gym. This barely helps.

Now this. The dryer is broken so no towel service. LA Fitness charges members an additional monthly fee for towel service, which cannot be used. This has continued for a month with no date determined for starting the repair. There are numerous commercial laundry services that LA Fitness could contract with while waiting for the dryer repair. It is a shame they will not do this for the towel service paying members. No towels and failing air conditioning is not a good combination. ☹

5/22/2024 Update : Every week, they post a new sign with a fake date of when the drier will be repaired and towel service will be reinstated. They have been doing this every week for the past six weeks. Management--why not just post accurate information instead of pretending you have a repair date? You are losing credibility and losing customers.

5/26/2024 Update: Another day and another new sign with a new date for towel service.

7/19/2024 Update: The AC has been out for several days. It is at least 80 degrees inside the gym. There is a large fan for the employees working the front desk. When I inquired about getting some fans for the gym, the manage barked at me that there is nothing he can do about it.

8/19 Update: The AC is broken once again. It has been out for over a week with indoor temps over 80 degrees every day. 83 degrees today inside the gym. I left two messages and send one email to regional manager begging for fans. No response.

10/9 Update: I went to the gym yesterday and the temperature inside was 79 degrees. The AC is still broken after several months. I pleaded with the regional manager back in July to get some fans, but nothing was done. Instead, they added a small, temporary AC unit to accommodate about 10,000 square feet. I try to work out next to this AC unit as it is the only tolerable area in the club. Yesterday, this AC unit was blowing hot air again, making it even more intolerable in the club. This happens when the condensation tank is full of water. This is the third time I encountered this issue. I contacted the regional manager on 10/2. Unfortunately, the employees still do not monitor this and the facility remains way too warm for working out.

I've been a member of LA Fitness for over 12 years, and a recent experience left me very disappointed. I’ve always had a guest pass and I brought my mom as my guest recently (10/1 @4pm). Normally, I either walk in with my registered guest right beside me, or at most, am asked politely if the person was my guest. My mom's picture is always displayed in the system since she comes often with me.

However, during my recent visit, I was asked by a staff member, "Is 'that' your mom?". I responded with "Yes, she is my guest" and was told that the rules were to verbally confirm that she was my guest before entry, even though she was standing just six inches from me and her picture was clearly on the screen when I swiped in. When I asked if this was a new policy, the staff member responded, "No this was always the policy". Hmm, 12 yrs, and no ones ever said that to me, so I said "The other front desk staff never said anything about this being policy", and to my dismay I heard “Maybe the other managers weren’t doing their job,” in a dismissive and disrespectful tone, all within earshot of my mother. We both looked at each other wondering if we heard the same thing.

This happened in front of what appeared to be a trainee, and I certainly hope that’s not the kind of behavior she was being trained to emulate. Over the years, I’ve worked with other managers, and they’ve always been respectful and maybe this person needs to take a page from the others. I expect the same level of respect for both members and their guests, especially when it comes to senior citizens like my mother.

I love this gym, but this interaction was unprofessional and disappointing. I will contact corporate about this and file a complaint.

Hot and humid like in a sauna.

Packed, but only two squat racks (good luck getting one.) Only three chest press benches. Not enough dumbbells. Only five kettlebells. The gym is too small for a prime location like this.

They keep the trap bar inside the huge paid personal training room and won't let you use it.

Not enough stairmasters.

At least, it was clean.

AC broken for at least 4 summers. Doesn't matter that it's raining outside this morning its 80° in here. The training staff isn't interested in training, they just want you to work in the group fitness class. Had to go to Burien to get a trainer to work with.
Their sani wipes are always empty. Not just empty, but they're regularly out entirely in the building. Double order once, and keep a back up inventory FFS.
Most their equipment is broken and for funnies the roof leaks in several places. This place is hands down the worst LA fitness I've ever visited.

Have gone here for almost 3 years. Something major is always broken - and usually it's more than one thing at a time - for months on end.

A/C - months + dripping through the ceiling on people.

Charging for towel service yet they haven't had towels for almost 3 months now because their dryer is broken.

Hot water was broken for well over a month or even 2 months

They had a dehumidifier plugged in and running in the shower area for about half a year - *with the electric cord running through a doorways and across the walkway (the only way to get out) **without a cable ramp*** It's a miracle no one got electrocuted.

Numerous machines remain in need maintenance (grips are broken/sliding off, cables frayed, clips broken, etc.)

Only 2 squat racks and three benches.

Yet, they can somehow afford to rip put their basketball court and install a flashy, high-priced crossfit-esq gym in a matter of a couple months.

All this can be yours for the low, low price of $60/month PLUS and annual fee.

And good luck when you go to cancel your membership.

To be clear, it genuinely looks like the Frontline staff are doing the best with what they've got. These chronic issues appear firmly to be on the management/owner.

Only went in for a tour because I get a discount from my job and it’s in my area and I was surprised at how outdated this gym is, especially for an area like Seattle. The staff seem super nice however, most of the floor is a super outdated carpet, the AC doesn’t work and after reading the reviews I now know that is because general members are not prioritized. There are only 2 squat racks (the rest are smiths), no platforms for dead lifts, and they are extremely lacking in updated equipment in general. They do have a really nice personal training space but it does not come with a general membership. The biggest positive for me was the pool that comes with general membership but I am still super reluctant to become a member after seeing the up keep and reading about the management. Really disappointed because I expected so much more from a LA fitness location.

My biggest complaint of this gym is that for the past 3 months there is rarely any sanitation wipes or sanitation bottles with paper towels stocked in the gym or any of the sanitation stations. So no one is cleaning equipment after use.

Specifically for the past 3 days: 2 out of the 3 had no cleaning supplies, and 1 out of the 3 had one sanitation stations stocked with one roll of paper towels with 2 spray bottles. The rest were empty. Also, only one pump has been stocked for hand sanitizer. In addition, the mens bathroom has always had soap but is usually out of paper towels.

I'm assuming this is a stock issue for cleaning supplies but is unacceptable. My suggestion us to give each gym member a towel when visiting and having the spray bottles stocked for easiest solution until this issue is resolved.

I attempted to leave a review on the app but it doesn't seem there is a free type option for concerns.

BAD EXPERIENCE!
On my way out today I went to the front counter to ask the manager a question. He did not see me after I stood there, so I stepped 1 foot into the front counter opening to get his attention.
He looked at me las if I was a trouble maker (longtime member) and asked me to step back in a rude tone. I asked if he was angry or upset. He said I was violating the space. C `mon.... I just wanted to ask him why there has been no body wash or shampoo in the Mens locker room this month (and very spotty for several months).
He said that people have been stealing soap and he did not have the budget for the rest of the month to have showers equipped with soap. He moved the soap this weekend. His story seems off. This has been going on quite awhile.
Perhaps there are some folks that take the shampoo and body wash but for the last week and a half 14 showers had empty bottles. I am not sure there is something else going on here. Do that may people from the mean streets of West Seattle steal the body wash and soap.
He could of handled this much better. West Seattle is a friendly place. Grant the manager was not nice today.

I will never get a membership with any LA Fitness location because of their membership services.

I came in on 12/26 to cancel my membership but couldn’t because the manager wasn’t there. Front desk said he could put a note on my account that I can just call and have the manager have it cancelled over the phone and I can get a charge back if they charge me on 1/12 anyway. I called several times for the following week and could never get ahold of the manager. I even printed and sent a cancellation form in by mail.
And now today, over two weeks later, the day of my bill, they decide to cancel my membership AND charge me. I’ve called and talked to so many people today and no one can help unless I come in. I cancelled because I MOVED and can no longer make it to any LA Fitness locations. I did everything I was supposed to and each and every person I spoke with screwed me over.

As others have mentioned, this place continues to go down hill. Additional money for towel service, the $50 “membership fee” they charge you once a year (clearly this additional money they suck out of you doesn’t get put back into gym up keep) and the icing on the cake is the removal of the basketball courts for a private personal training area that I’ve yet to see anyone use. I would like to preface this saying I don't tend to leave reviews as no service has been so bad that merited me going out of my way and time to leave one. But here we are. Would give zero stars if I could. Where to begin...

This is suppose to be a signature club but there is nothing signature about it. There is no turf field like the other non-signature clubs and there are only two squat racks. The A/C is frequently broken and it's always way too crowded.

With that being said, the machines are constantly broken or being used. LA tries to sell as many memberships as possible. If you want go workout before or after work hours forget about it.

When I signed up I was told I had guest privileges and towel service (this was during a promotion so I paid the regular rate and these services are included -- otherwise it would be additional cost per month). LA Fitness is super shady and make it very difficult to cancel membership. For a while there was no Operations Manager so I had to cancel my membership with the Sales guy. Obviously you can't cancel online and it has to be in person (or certified mail) because who tf knows why. Anyways, I knew my renewal date was on the 18th so I made it my mission to cancel before my next billing cycle specifically. I told him to cancel on the 12th and he told me straight to my face I did it already. Of course on the 18th I get a message on my phone that it was not cancelled and I was charged. When I asked about this they front desk told me it was cancelled on 17th. Because it was cancelled so close to renewal date there was no way to fix it.

I talked to West Seattle LA Fitness and they emailed corporate and said because my bill was greater than $100.00 they was no way they could refund me, since I pay for myself and my family.

Ok, whatever. So now I have two months of membership (the month I just paid and the last month since you pay first and last month when signing up).

So I keep going to the gym since I have two months left of membership. I've been getting towels service at West Seattle since I signed up since it was included. But for some magical reason after I cancelled my membership I no longer have towel service. So either I never had towel service (even though I've been getting towels there since I started going) or they took me off.

As you can see I wasted a lot of time going back and forth. It's not even that big of a deal but it left such a bad taste in my mouth. Even for their cheap prices I wouldn't give this company another penny. They are shady, lie to your face, and do nothing to remedy the errors they create on THEIR end. Signing up is easy, good luck cancelling. So glad I'm out. The only redeeming quality is I like the members. They're all nice people. Do better LA.

Elated that new competition is coming to West Seattle! I've already signed up.

Wow, where do I start? Today tested my patience and it’s time I expressed my opinion on this poorly run gym. No one showed up to open the gym at 5AM 11/30 and had members waiting in the cold for over an hour. Remember this is a “Signature” LA fitness. All of the issues listed below I’ve brought to their attention. I could go on and on, but I'll leave it at 10. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!

For context, I’ve been a member of LA fitness since at least 2008 and have been going to the West Seattle location since the day it opened. I’ve seen the staff attrition and quality of the gym go downhill rapidly.

1. I’ve gone from working out evening after work, to late mornings, and now early AM at open. Doesn’t matter when you go, the gym is always a mess.

2. Equipment is frequently broken. What’s worse is that it takes them weeks, if not months, to get things fixed. There has been some equipment broken for years now.

3. When some equipment is finally fixed, it’s not done properly. I literally saw a guy walk by 2 other pieces of broken equipment to fix one and did nothing with the others. Date 11/29

4. Missing equipment is also an issue. Not enough 45lb barbells for the bench press, military press, or incline. People move them all across the gym to do deadlifts. Decline bench removed and replaced with nothing. Kettlebells, nah…

5. Dumbbells are missing and scattered all across the gym, even at 5AM when just opening. It’s like a new scavenger hunt every day. Looking for 5 - 27.5 dumbbells? FORGET ABOUT IT!

6. Missing smaller barbells and EZ curl bar. Been missing for 4+ years now or longer. I’ve brought it up multiple times, but no one cares.

7. Half of the treadmills won’t hold a proper incline and have not been replaced or repaired for years. Bikes and other cardio machines have been broken for months.

8. They also have the audacity to start charging $10 / month for towel service when this was included with my “signature” membership when I joined.

9. They have recently removed most floor equipment and placed it in the paid training area which recently replaced the indoor basketball court.

10. Since this gym has opened, they have had issues with the AC. During the winter, like right now, you walk in and it’s way too humid and hot. During the Summer, it’s almost as if the AC doesn’t work. It failed multiple days this summer alone and they gave no notice that the gym would be closed.

I wrote a review back in 2021 a few months after I first started using the gym and gave it four stars. It has everything you need for powerlifting and bodybuilding, plus a nice pool and at the time a nice basketball court. Having more equipment would be immensely helpful. They only have one power rack, one squat rack with fixed safeties, no equipment for weightlifting (snatches and clean and jerk), and no dedicated deadlift platforms. The equipment they have could also be better. Having round plates instead of hex plates, better benches for bench press, and hack squats that go over the shoulder instead of the seats they have that don't feel as secure.

Two years later, they have demolished the basketball court and replaced it with a paid training area. So a renovation that could have expanded the facilities and the ability for its patrons to train instead removed a unique amenity in the area for their personal training business. (With the Internet and YouTube, you can do just as good a job).

But the biggest issue is the repeated failure to open the gym on time. I, like the reviewer below was waiting at 5 and left after an hour of the front desk not showing. When I got home, my friend who showed up said the man who works maintenance opened the gym a little after 6 a.m. this has been a repeated problem throughout the 2.5 years I've been coming to this gym that they have failed to address and mitigate. There was one point where they even changed the locks to the gym and didn't tell the employees, so they couldn't get inside.

As it stands, they have a key in a plastic lock box outside that front desk staff access to enter. It's not 1885, there are much better technologies that don't require you to rely on staff being present to access the gym. You can have door locks on a timer, badged entry, key fobs, unique digital access codes, and so on.

And so at this point, I've had enough. It's clear that the management does not have any interest in providing good service and facilities to its patrons, so once FITNESS 19 opens down in Westwood, I will be getting a membership there. That's despite the fact that it will be a 15 minute drive compared to the 3 minute run it currently takes me to get to LA Fitness. It's a shame because the staff and community at LA fitness are great, but the management is uncaring if not incompetent.

This gym.... wow. I go as a guest which is the only reason it got 2 stars because their guest system is nice, but today we showed up at 5am (when they open) and no one was there to open the gym. We waited 25 minutes before we gave up, no one had come to open the gym. This happens every couple of weeks or so, absolutely insane. What are we paying for? They also have no regard for air health if you do happen to make it inside - I was once running on the treadmill as someone painted the pillar next to me. Like, actively painting with a roller as I ran. What? This isn't even a 24 hour gym, can't you find a different time to do that? Incredibly frustrating place.

The two songs playing at the same time for the last month may actually cause me to have a psychotic break. No music is better than this insanity. Almost as bad as Call of Duty pre-match.
