Although an older facility, it boasted fantastic classes, open layout, fantastic shower and the best sauna in the LA fitness chain! Unfortunately, this location is now CLOSED!!!!

The best LA Fitness in the Seattle area. It was dirty, gritty, old, but the absolute best. This was different than all other locations, a true weightlifter gym rather than an instagram gym like all the other LA Fitnesses. Poor management and neglect caused its permanent demise. May the memory live on.

Site is permanently closed, happened all of a sudden this month. It is too bad the organization does not seem to value to Lake City community

I came to the lake city LA fitness location today to find the equipment removed and a fence encircling the parking lot. It looks to be permanently closed.

In retrospect this isn’t a surprise. About a quarter of the treadmills powered on by the end, and β€œshowed signs of neglect” would be a charitable description of the ones that still worked. One time I saw a person at the lake city LA fitness do a powerlifting super set (bench, squat, deadlift) in overalls like he was training for a specialized Olympics where the competitors are only allowed to wear denim. I was too in awe to say anything, not that I would have otherwise. There was plenty of space, which was the best part about this gym.

Long live the lake city LA fitness. It was dirty, but it was ours. It will be missed.

The worst LAfitness gym in the area and there are very bad and dirty ones like the one on Aurora Avenue and the one in Lynwood but this is the worst in the area, congratulations!! Bathroom door locks broken. The men's bathroom smells like marijuana. Old, rusty machines. This is ridiculous.

DO NOT sign up for LA Fitness. Tried canceling my membership and am still being charged monthly fees. Employees are some of the least helpful people I’ve ever dealt with in any business. 0 star rating if I could. Manager is never on site. No response ever from emailing customer service. A good gym, but: Now that Covid is pretty much over, they have removed all the paper towels and replaced them a few β€œsanitary wipes”. Try wiping the sweat from your face and eyes with those. I wonder if this violates some health code.
Edit: Yes, you could go to the men’s room for some. But they don’t always keep it stocked.

There's a decent availability of equipment vs crowd. Sauna is a plus but bathroom area feels dated and dirty. Be warned - I usually find that the gym keeps the temperature too hot on most days (lack of AC even when outside is 80+F). Given the strong afternoon sun, they need to turn on their HVAC.

Please fix your out of service machines! This is a great local gym with awesome old school hammer strength plate loaded machines but it takes months for them to fix a machine after it breaks. There’s multiple machines, cable machines, and benches in disrepair. Please fix the equipment promptly, that’s what we pay the membership fee for.

One of the least crowded La Fitness's out there, it's got all the equipment one could need (including standing calf raises, somewhat hard to find elsewhere). Only 2 squat racks but they're not always used. Cable pulley machines imo are better than belt-driven machines, they feel better, and the circuit machines are cable driven - win-win. They also have the same exact equipment as Miekos Fitness that they bought out nearly 10 years ago. RIP Edmonds Miekos, you will be missed.

I live in Houston and flew in with family for a wedding here to Seattle and this morning my guest pass i got for my little sister was denied by the front desk. I have never had this situation happen, where because there was no sales associate in the gym at 0750, i had to pay 20 dollars for her instead of her being able to use the guest pass. There is no stated policy anywhere that a sales person has to validate a guest pass, and the front desk clerk was unhelpful. Frankly, this felt like I was being toyed with as well as nickel and dimed. There's a info sheet for the front desk where they clearly tell the front desk staff not to allow guest pass members to check in at the front, and states that they are trying to reduce the amount of guest passes in total. Because no one was there to enforce their own policy, I was not able to do what I've done at literally EVERY LA Fitness before coming here. I will be attempting to resolve this issue with whatever corporate entity I can. The front desk attendant Tina seemed like she didn't care about the situation their lack of professionalism put us in and expected is to pay for their lack of operational acumen. If the locations in Houston weren't as good as they are, I would have cancelled my membership on the spot.

This is the most underrated LA Fitness I've ever seen. I've been to many from King to Thurston county and this has the best equipment of any LA fitness by FAR. I prefer going here over Burien (which is right by my office!) or Ballard (which is closer to my house) because of the unique equipment no other LA Fit has and lack of crazy rush hour.
Ask for Jett and he'll take care of you. Had him upgrade me here cuz I never go to my home club.

#GainswithGabi I have never encountered a personal trainer that makes me excited to visit the gym every time knowing that I’m going to have an effective session and will probably end up on the floor panting with a smile.
This is my favorite gym to visit. It’s quiet and the staff make me feel safe and welcomed. Great location and lots of equipment. The staff are supportive and will help correct you on your form for an exercise if you ask. They have lots of advice to give, and you can even ask them for motivational affirmations!

I have been an LA Fitness member since the day I moved to Seattle 3 years ago, so I am if anything loyal.

So then why 3 out of 5 stars? Two reasons, one for each star and both are broken (and they’ve been broken since I renewed my membership at the Lake City location):

1. the sauna, and
2. the upper body ergo.

I was sympathetic during COVID but if masks are off, repairs should be on.

And I have already officially requested repairs (filled out paperwork, work order something or other).

For each featureβ€”sauna and ergoβ€”that is repaired I will add a star to this review. Because you will deserve them when you fix the sauna and ergo, please.

So, yeah: this is a β€œstar ransom”.

BEST GYM in all of Seattle! You read that correctly, why? The equipment and machines here that's why. Old school Flex fitness, VERY RARE Kaiser Pneumatic machines, gen1 life fitness, newer hammer strength, dumbbells up to 130lbs! Clean! No other gym in the Seattle metro area even comes close. Take this from a champion strength athlete, this is the spot in Seattle for equipment or "hardcore" Bodybuilding and lifting.

Many decades old, and no longer branded as LA Fitness (but as the lower-tier 'Esporta'). Staff are fine but the place is... BEAT UP.

The locker room is tiny (two benches), no sauna / pool / towels.
Didn't bring a lock just once and someone stole my wallet.
People don't wipe stuff down. The gym yoga mats are torn and dotted with holes. It seems like local staff have no influence in getting funds from corporate, so can't blame them.

If all you want is a treadmill, elliptical, and occasionally machine weights, this could work for you.
Half the folks are casual attendees, half have a regular lifting regimen. Its busy but never packed, and haven't really waited for equipment to free up.

I live nearby and have a corporate rate, its fairly transparent to enroll, and you get a free session with a trainer.
You could consider other cheap (but newer) gyms for simple stuff like Planet, or go to a larger LA / 24 Hr for full amenities.
If you want something local and cheap and don't expect much, then here you go -- you get what you pay for.

Good: Staff is very pleasant, every trainer I’ve worked with has been great, equipment is old but well maintained, and lots of free weights. This gym never quite felt right as an LA Fitness but the recent rebrand to Esporta makes a lot of sense. It’s kinda like a Planet Fitness+ for people who actually want to lift free weights and not get yelled at if you try and go too heavy and drop something and/or wanna pay a lower fee and are ok losing some features to your LA membership. I also like how you still have the option to pay more and keep access to LA Fitness locations which is great if you travel like me. Gym is usually not as busy as most LA/Esporta locations.

Not so good: while the gym is not dirty and the equipment is well maintained, it’s still old. It’s not uncommon for one or two machines to not be working (however they are usually fixed in a few days). Who ever owns this location needs to dump money in here. The locker rooms are the worst part, like they where designed in the 70s. It’s a shared shower, no individual stalls, and the toilet stalls while clean would look more at home at a freeway rest station. gym could use new flooring, new paint, reupholstered benches, etc. just needs a remodel so at least it feels as nice as a Planet Fitness, not like a big highschool weight room.

Still gets 4 stars because I like the staff and general β€œvibe” of the place. Really easy to put your headphones in, head down, and do work.

I've gone to this gym since it used to be vision quest, and some of my favorite teachers stayed!! Love seeing them still. I only wish the kids area was closer to bathrooms or had its own. My kids are a bit old for the childcare now, but when my youngest was in there he enjoyed himself but couldn't really get to bathroom easily. If you like a place that doesn't care at all, here you go.

Let me elaborate: I started working out at this gym about six months ago because a friend just moved to LCW and this is by my house so we figured we'd check it out.

From just going in, we were already given poor customer service. When we asked to take a walk around to see, we were told that was against the policy and we couldn't do that. About 10 minutes later of talking to staff, a couple comes in and ends up getting a tour without any hassle. So after a bit of wrangling, we end up getting waivers to walk around and check it out and decide, okay, maybe this is where we want to go. So we try to sign up for a membership but we have to set up an appointment, which we do. Things go smoothly and we get our membership.

Now, the gym is a bit older but I feel like it has a good amount more space, more emphasis on free weights, got general amenities, not bad. But what keeps coming back for me? Integrity.

Staff don't often acknowledge you when you're there: before, especially during, and after your time there staff will be sitting at the desks in the front texting, chatting it up, or on their computer. Front desk staff are busy on homework (which is fine) but don't care if you enter.

While you're there, its obvious this place doesn't get maintained: weights in disarrat lying around, paper towels used and tossed on the ground, equipment from other areas sitting there, and even lost items from members sitting for days on end (three days is the record). I have come in when someone was mopping the free weight section-- midday, spending half his time texting, half his time mopping.

I have also interacted with staff when things happen--dude slacklining on a barbell and smith machine, people climbing upside down on exercise set ups-- and they appreciate it but nothing happens from it. And when I upgraded memberships to use other facilities, two things happened: Niko(?) Got my upgrade fee cut which was nice, but another individual on staff spent the time badmouthing the other location I mentioned and generally had a bad attitude about it.

If you want a gym close to you that has a good amount of equipment (and tractor tires!), here you go. But if you like having a welcoming, well-kept environment I'd say try some of the other gyms nearby.

This is just not what I expect from LA fitness, very run down building, and not much of a selection as far as equipment goes. I was going to the LA fitness on 130th and aurora, they are the same price but the difference is massive. The one on aurora has a pool, basketball court, many classes, is very clean, has longer hours and has a huge selection of equipment and weights. This location has none of those things. I feel like I should be getting a discounted price going to this location. After seeing other beautiful LA fitness gyms I'm very surprised they allow this one to keep their name.

Pretty good facilities and friendly staff. There is often some very obnoxious clientele that should be talked to but aren't, though.

Dirty, Smelly, run down building, old gross carpet--the pits....I intend to write corporate that they even call this a LA Fitness and charge people. The entire place is carpeted with old, stained, smelly carpet. The building has not been updated since the 1070's. The equipment is bad. In the fitness room for group classes half of the hand weights / dumbbells had the outer coating peeling off. The group class room doesn't even have one big mirror rather small mirrors stuck to the all next to one another to try and create one big mirror. The ladies locker room was gross. the ceiling above the shower had missing tiles and paint peeling. I don't even know how to describe how disgusting this gym was and the neighborhood/parking lot is run down as well. I have a membership that allows me to go to all the LA Fitness clubs and I can assure you I will never step foot in this one again.

Worst la fitness I have ever been to. It's in a shady area and all the old equipment. Would rather drive another 10 mins to the la fitness on Aurora ave

It's been converted to a gym, and the equipment is fairly old, but it's well rim and does the job.

The equipment is showing wear these days. Nevertheless it has the equipment to get in a great workout.

You get what you pay for: i.e. < $25/mo. I travel for work and I work out at other chains/gyms when I travel - so I know that there are way nicer/bigger gyms with much newer equipment. In fairness to this place, I don't know how much those other gyms charge their members on a monthly basis. I will say that this place improved bigtime one LA fitness acquired it from VisionQuest: cleaner and way nicer folks than when all the meatheads were running the joint.

Have you ever walked behind a really smelly Old man and had to ring your nose that's exactly what the sauna smells like. The weights look as if they were from the 80s green. The layout looks as if planet fitness landed here. LA Fitness get rid of this location it's a disgrace to the name.
