This LA Fitness neither the manager nor the staff seem willing to do anything about a couple of obnoxious customers bringing their own speakers to blast their music in the club in the common workout area.

It is rude as hell and very inconsiderate to everyone else.

If you want to listen to your own music at least have the courtesy to wear headphones.

I shouldn't have to listen to your goddamn music and the house music at the same time when you could just wear headphones and not be a jerk about it.

I travel a lot in most every gym I go to has this rule and the common sense to enforce it. I can't believe these people let this go on here all the damn time.

Have been going here for about a year. The manager working Saturday nights is extremely rude and unhelpful. She doesn’t understand LA Fitness policy and does not care about customers. She was rude to a guest of mine and was demanding that we pay up even though my guest had a VIP pass. Canceled membership.

LA fitness needs to do better.

Been here 2 years and the decline is awful.
The hot tub is like a dirty potato boil with a black ring included🤢, no cleaning wipes at the stations, no toilet paper or paper in the restrooms and the equipment is filthy around all the bases.
The Saunas are filthy.
Gym equipment and weights are just left everywhere.. it's like no one cares who works there or even wants to be there regardless .. no enthusiasm.. always irritated..
. They even are late to open the doors constantly in the AM..

Went to LA Fitness with a friend the other day and had a great experience with all the staff. Jeremiah was so helpful! I think it’s really cool how LA Fitness is so inclusive with who they hire. It’s a good gym, I workout twice per day; usually morning cardio session their tredmails are good, and another weight lifting session around noon, those times usually gym is empty and people are very friendly, make sure to subscribe statewide or nation wide it’s worth it since they have many branches almost everywhere!

The gym and equipment area seem fine but the changing room and showers are unacceptable. Hair in every shower stall, feces or something looking a lot like it, blood on the shower curtains and some kind of hot mess in the handicap shower area, yet the worker's have time to play on their phones or walk around and look busy, idk but I will not come back to this facility. Disgusting, if you're the manager here smh, you should be ashamed of this, would you shower here?

My partner and I came to this gym signing up for the 3 day free pass, we had it emailed and everything. We both hadn’t been to this gym however because I go to a different LA fitness gym (single gym access), they said I couldn't use the 3 day free pass? She said we would have to pay 20$ each. It honestly felt like racial profiling. Which is incredibly disappointing. Upon looking up information, I should've been offered a 10$ fee and my boyfriend could have had a 7 day VIP pass through my account.

Edit- looking through past reviews it looks like they’ve denied others guest passes as well without much of a reason. Another review mentioned racial profiling as well. I will try to move this up the chain and speak to someone about the poor conduct of this gym.

Ive been going here since May 25, so about 3 months now. The whole team is great. I choose to sign up with Byron for personal training, and he is phenomenal. I only see him twice a month, however each session he gives me a new workout plan to follow. This keeps me motivated and excited for the new programs each week. His laugh is magnetic and he is always in a great mood. Since joining him I have seen substantial progress in my strength training despite the short time frame.
Additionally my 4 year old son loves the daycare. He is just as excited to go to the gym as I am each day, which as a single mom is an amazing plus. The staff all around is very friendly, helpful, and caring.
I would highly recommend this gym.

Horrible first impression. 18 year old trying put gym for the summer. Have goals in mind and want to better my self care. Did the 3day guess pass, Great front service. The manager pulled me and my buddy aside. They asked what we were trying to do. Try the facilities, workout.. And denied the guess pass. Jeremiah is the manager there, I can’t stand him. I was already being helped and he made it seem like the girl who was helping me didn’t know what she was doing, La Fitness’s quota is absurd. Everyone employee looks miserable, (jeremiah)as a manager they have to look out for there employees. I want Jeff demoted!

If you are looking for a positive environment to workout in, don’t go here. It’s mainly a bunch of sales people trying to convince you to get a membership and then once you’re in they want you to pay more for trainers and get your friend’s numbers so they can try to sell them a membership. Also didn’t like how people don’t really wipe down the machines when they’re done. 🤢I will stick to planet fitness.

Staff is generally nice, facility is good. However, I was lied to by an employee (who has since been fired for his actions) when I signed up for my membership and personal training, and staff at this location have refused to rectify the situation. I am out hundreds of dollars and will continue to lose money for the next two months, and no empathy was shown by the staff. Cancel now and still pay 50% of the remaining balance, or just wait out the next two months and continue paying money I don't have... Instead of punishing your customers, maybe you should hire better employees and verify that they are actually trustworthy.

This gym is an absolute mess and shows zero respect for its paying members. The hot water has been out for over two weeks, the sauna is down, and worst of all, the gym was completely closed for over a week because they couldn’t even keep the electricity on. Communication during the closure was terrible — members were just left in the dark (literally and figuratively).

Even now, the conditions are unacceptable. There’s visible mold around the Jacuzzi area, the gym floors and machines are filthy and clearly neglected, and the whole place feels unsanitary. To make matters worse, the water filter often sits on “red” for days before they bother to change it — a clear health hazard they simply ignore.

This facility is poorly managed, unsafe, and nowhere near worth the membership fees they charge. If you’re considering joining, don’t waste your money. There are far better, cleaner, and better-run gyms out there.

This gym gets 5 stars from me because I love basketball and really enjoy playing at this gym. It’s always clean, has great natural light, and airflow. May be slightly smaller than the Federal Way gym, but is always a great time.

Mornings are best here. Solid community, and professional.

Hygiene is needed on treadmills and stairs. Twice I have asked why they have charged me charges that I did not know about and every time I ask them they say something different, which was a charge for something and then something else.

Total disappointment! We are targeted, discriminated against and threatened to have our memberships canceled because they feel that we are training each other. I have been at this gym since 2022 and my fitness barcode ends with 5724. I joined this gym to workout with family members. Recently, the new training coordinator and “district manager” seem to have a problem with us working as a group. We have stated that we workout together ones a week for cardio. We have even offered them to get one of their trainers to lead us. Everyone else in the gym has gym partners but it’s a problem because our group is bigger. Their policy does not put a limit to the amount of people that can workout together. The manager says that its training because one person is counting or keeping time. We stopped counting and would rotate after a set number of reps but that wasn’t enough for her. She is a bully and wanted to abuse her authority. What is the point of the gym if we cannot motivate one another?
Their policy states that it’s not training if we are all doing the same exercises. Our group workouts were never a problem until the new manager arrived. She has been extremely nasty with us, treated us like garbage. She seems to only have this problem with us. I am not stopping here. I am taking this issue to the local news stations because her actions will create further tension because white and black folks. We do not need any more of that because we all lived happily in the gym before she came along. We will not be terrorized.

Never felt disappointed, disrespected and racially profiled at any gym before. I been going to this gym for a while and loved making friends who became family to me and actually convinced couple of other friends to cancel their other gym membership and join me to this gym. So me and couple of friends been working out together motivating and holding each other accountable to be consistent… and for this particular reason our membership got cancelled because the staff feel like we training each others or taking clients away from their trainers.
Throughout my experience as an international athlete and now just as a regular person who works 8-5, going to a gym and working out always been a safe place where you can self-care, socialize and most importantly have a piece of mind, not a place where you have no say, not valued or respected when you actually paying your hard earned money to go (even if it’s a penny).

I’ve been a member going on 3 weeks now. Some concerns. First off this is my preferred facility due to location. Also, their jets are strong in the hottub and it’s kept hot. That’s why they get 3 stars. It’s fairly clean if you ignore the gum chair by the hottub. However, I must discuss the child care portion. I do not have young children. Thursday as I was leaving I saw a, not more than 1 year old, little boy waddle out the kid room and go straight for the open front doors. I started yelling and nobody did anything. In fact they all gave me dirty looks cause I was yelling and did not listen to the fact that I was yelling “there’s a baby! There’s a baby! Catch it!!!” My disabled self ran to catch this baby right as he made it outside and was headed straight into traffic. I came back in with the child and everybody was like “what?” This lady goes I don’t understand the problem. 😱 I’m like this ain’t my baby and you’re just letting him run out of the building into traffic. Some lady grabbed the kid from me apologized and ran away to the kid room. It’s now Saturday and I’m still upset by this. Also, next day at 10am you had to randomly drain the hottub. Only reason you’d do that is some kind of contamination. I’m not sure what’s going on beyond the scenes here but I’m concerned friends. I am concerned. Don’t leave your kids with these people under any circumstances. Be very aware of your surroundings. I’m appalled that not a single staff member or gym member did anything to save this child you should all be ashamed of yourselves. He did make it all the way outside and there were many cars wizzing past us not more than 7 feet away from where I finally, reluctantly, picked up this child that I do not know. At this point I could have just taken off with this kid too if I was so inclined. Anybody out there could have. This should have never happened but nobody even followed me outside. I stood there for a minute hoping I wouldn’t have to pick up this strangers child but he wouldn’t stop running to the road and the entire time he was calling mama mama in the gym and in the parking lot.

Vanessa was reluctant to activate my three-day guest pass and suggested a $20 day pass instead after I mentioned I wasn’t ready to commit to a membership. Frustrated, I left and went to another location, where the service was stellar; a gentleman activated my guest pass without issue. The purpose of a guest pass is to experience the gym and decide on a membership, but her approach was unprofessional, discouraging and felt biased.

It's like almost $200 to join but they don't tell you that they try to make u think you are getting a deal but this deal sure isn't in my favor. I was excited to go here because I have a four month old baby I found out they have childcare. However, after I asked a load of questions I realized how much it fm really was:

$35 a month membership
+ $75 joining fee
+ first and last months = $70
+ $10 for kids club
+ 1st & last = $20
+ joining fee $20
= $230!!! I just cannot pay that much as a single mom with an infant I'm pretty bummed out seeing as I've gained a 20 lbs since I had my baby.

*** Update: They've put some effort into it and most of the equipment is up and running again. They've switched to wipe dispensers instead of paper towels that are frequently out (not unique to this location). Some infrastructure cleaning has been done but it's a marginal improvement. If you want to find handles for pulley machines good luck, if you manage to scrounge 2 they won’t match. When machines or drinking fountains break it takes literally months for them to get fixed. Ceiling air vents are caked with dust in the free weights section. Now they’ve started hosting people with clipboards outside their door so you get ambushed on your way in. It’s a functional gym but with a lot of room for improvement.

I'm very disappointed. My boyfriend is Native American. His tribe paid for a 3 year membership at this Gym on 72nd st in Tacoma. There was a white woman at the counter when we arrived at around 6pm today March 26th. She scanned him in and then he asked a question and told us to wait, then proceeded to help others members and completely ignored us. As if we were not important or it didn't matter, she acted like we weren't even there. We waited for a few minutes until another staff member asked us if we had been helped and she scanned him in *again* and took the time to actually answer our questions. My boyfriend doesn't like to confront people, but I don't mind leaving a 1 star review for this gym. My boyfriend's name is Wahelute Mills. He is an enrolled Puyallup. Save your money, go somewhere else where staff is friendly.

Most of the cardio equipment is old, and breaks down constantly, so isn't available to use. The men's locker room gets cleaned regularly, but still somehow manages to be smelly and dirty. The sauna is broken more often than it works. People smoke pot and vape in the locker room while staff just walk on by.

I went there to cancel my membership. I gave them the 1 month notice as required. I asked several times if I canceling would cancel both of our memberships. Because that’s what we wanted. I was told yes. I was the main account holder and it would cancel both memberships. Fast forward two months and they are still taking money out of my account saying it was for the second membership. When I called to ask why it wasn’t cancelled it’s because it’s in my wife’s name. She has to go in to do it. She has been in twice now and was told the only person that can do it was not in. When they took the money out after I was told it would not be. It bounced my mortgage payment by 5$. They are still taking money out of my bank because they just seem to refuse to let me cancel with them. Once this is finally resolved I will never do business with LA Fitness ever again.

I personally am not a member of LA Fitness, however after today's "wonderful customer service", they definitely turned away a potential customer. I came in with my niece who doesn't speak English very well. She signed up for the training that LA Fitness offers, and a few months later tried canceling due to a doctors note. She has been trying for several months to cancel the training sessions due to that note. She asked me to come in today, which we did. We headed to speak to their "operations manager" (which, makes no sense why this person is a manager when she has zero customer service skills). We came in & sat down at her "desk" and when asked what she can help with.. explained the situation. Mind you, I did not raise my voice, nor cause any sort of scene or go off at this "manager". However little miss thing woke up off the wrong side of the bed - jumped up and started going off how "you're going off at me, and I just got to work, and I don't even deal with any of this stuff go to the front desk". Caught completely off guard by toddler like behavior; we headed to the front. The lady at the front who I am assuming deals with cancellations (again; why is there an "operational manager" title when she is not able to help cancel membership, is beyond me), helped answer questions, directed the right way to do so and was friendly and helpful. I did also mention to this person that their "manager" clearly needed her morning coffee, because no one went off at her, and I'm not a child to throw a fit like she did. I will say this, as someone who owns a business and deals with a lot of clients.. you don't speak to people that way. If I acted that way with clients and potential clients, I would loose money the day. You also don't jump up and throw a hissy fit just because you're a "manager". That title means absolutely NOTHING this day an age. I will be contacting their regional team. Upon leaving, we had another member who overheard the whole "going off" come up and say that said "manager" is known to have tantrums. Please consider training your employees in customer service, and I would evaluate who really qualifies to be an "operational manager" in your establishment.

Amanda is my trainer, and even though it was our 1st session, she made me feel really comfortable and kept pushing me & it made it that much more for me to not give up every time I fell. The gym itself is really clean and everyone (as in staff) is super nice and respectful. Not the cheapest place, but well worth it.

I signed up for personal training during the pandemic 2021. They do not have a clause to allow a pause on the sessions or payments even if you catch covid!!! You cannot stop the personal training sessions for one year or stop the payments without loosing your unused sessions!!

LA Fitness must be short on staff if they cant keep Tacoma's facility clean. The shower curtains have black mold growing, and algae growing on the tiles near the pool, and the hot tub. Completely disgusting! Get with it guys and hire more cleaning crew. Other than that I enjoy the equipment...

They lack equipment, they lack sanitizing wipes, And I'm only coming because it's super close to my house. There's only one TRX strap for the whole gym and this week the rope for the sleds disappeared so we can't even do backwards walking. There's like only one handle per cable column and most of them are broken and they're very loud and squeaky. There's only the really heavy kettle balls.

Don't get me started on the sanitizing wipes. I've been coming for a few months now and it seems like every week they run out of sanitizing wipes. And then they use paper towels and those overrun the trash cans and run out.( I'll go buy you guys a pack of wipes from Costco if you need the money! )And then there's only like one or two spray bottles for the whole place when they use the paper towels and those run out. There needs to be a box where you could complain about things in the gym so they can fix things quick.

Equipment is decent but the facility is dirty AF. Trash always on floors in gym & locker rooms. Staff seems nice but they should interact with patrons more vs just sitting there on their phones all day - no networking skills.

Decent gym that I used with a day pass. Reasonable amount of equipment, but it was pretty busy for 10 am on a weekday. For some reason, they had no wipes for the equipment, so I couldn't wipe anything down after I had used it.

These new sanitizing wipes they switched to a couple months ago, are trash. They're so thin by the time you walk back to the equipment to wipe it down, theyre bone dry. So i do not feel comfortable that ANY of the equipment is wiped down or even cleaned properly most of the time. Also 90% of the time theres no wipes 7pm-closing. It doesnt look like they even sweep under the benches or dumbell racks. They only get inbetween them and it looks like only once a week. Its so dirty i swear a dust bunny winked my way before out benching me cuz it was holding the whole bench. These are my only complaints so far. Ive been coming here a few months and I like the equipment and weekday hours. I would like it open later weekends but I'm not really stressing it. But PLEASE LA FITNESS GET THICKER AND BETTER SANITIZING WIPES!!!!! and GET A COMMENT BOX AT EACH GYM! That way I dont have to come here with bad reviews to get your attention! Ive already made my complaints to the staff, so far NOTHING!

If I could put 0 stars I would. LA FITNESS called me long story short they told me they can cancel my membership and I just needed to pay off my balance not only did that they said they could refund the 60 dollars it took to pay my balance they took my money and continued to charge me after having promised they canceled my membership and that I would no longer be getting another charge. They refuse to take responsibility for 2 months of payment that should have been canceled I paid the first month and last month of my membership when i signed upthey they charged me again for my last month and continued to take my money I joined in April canceled in May on the phone when they called me then continued to charge me for June and refused to give me a refund for the mistakes of they're company's employees who called they continue to refuse the refund my June payment which was said to be canceled

I go in the early mornings. The sanitizing wipes are always out and the locker rooms are dirty in the mornings. Today my locker was broken into (it was locked with a lock) and luckily all they stole was my wallet and not my bags and keys. I would not recommend locking anything in the lockers. However I’m giving it 2 stars because at least the staff are very friendly and the equipment is very nice.

Fantastic gym. 3 squat racks with platforms and 4 flat barbell benches means even at peak times, you usually don't have to wait too long.

That said, the hygiene leaves a lot to be desired. Even when the gym is slow, the sanitation stations are often out of wipes or sanitizer, and the bathroom rarely has paper towels, even though there are no hand dryers.

LA Fitness and their team of trainers have finally got me on the fitness path I dreamed of getting on again. This gym has a vibe that makes me want to look my best. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Getting back to looking and feeling superbly is worth the investment in my trainer “Amanda” and the monthly membership.

I have nothing but good things to say about the staff at this LA Fitness. I brought a group of kids down from Canada for a wrestling camp, and with our hotel checkout time being so early, the kids would’ve have had the chance to shower before a long 3 hour drive back home. I called this gym with Ayla answering the call and she was so so accommodating. She allowed us to come and shower for free with all of us just needing to fill out liability forms. The staff was so friendly and encouraged if we were back in town and in need of their services, she would help us out again. Although I’m not a Tacoma resident, I encourage people to go to this gym as their staff is nothing but accommodating and very respectful.

Pretty decent but sometimes the staff needs to be more attentive. One time I stepped out to get something from my car for a minute and coming back in a staff was shouting “hey, you didn’t sign in.” If he actually paid attention maybe he’d have seen me and one of his coworkers seemed embarrassed pointing out that I had only just stepped out a minute ago.

I've been going to this gym since it opened a few years back. Great gym! But lately the locker rooms and just general cleanliness of the gym has gone way down. The men's locker room when it has paper towels they are all over the floor, due to the trash being overflowing. You can see the dirt and grime on the floor. You can tell the toilets don't get cleaned daily. And about 85% of the time there is no toilet paper.

*** Update same day, three youth's same age as my Son we're playing in the gym, but they were a different race! Now I feel there is some racial discrimination here which is even worse!

Didn't let my Son's play basketball even though they've been many times before due to one of them being "too young"! Kids club was closed and my Son was disappointed. Gyms going downhill. Staff is rude and probably makes the rules up as they please. Not worth the amount I pay every month!

We Came Today on January 14th to go swimming and to do some light aerobic exercises in the pool the hot tub was gross had to be skimmed out three times because of the filth that was floating on top that the employees did not recognize. The men's bathroom had garbage and debris all over the receptacles. I had gnats and small flying bugs inside the shower stall while I was showering. Inside the swimming area the personal water fountains were rusted all the way around the mouthpiece I think this is disgusting it should be a health hazard.

Love this place. Originally went to the Lacey LA F, but switched to this one. It's very spacious and not like a rat nest and people are on top of each other. Haven't been in the locker room so can't give info on that but the place is clean and people still (for the most part) clean the machines after use.

No handicapped parking but that's not really on them... I don't think. Same with the ramps but again, not on them I don't think... the parking lot is clean and very busy, but pretty well-lit. A lot of traffic going through as it's a large area with, LOTS of different shops and eateries.

People seem nice, but unless you speak to them, they tend to just do their jobs and conversate with each other. The people using the gym, seem good too, people just keep to themselves and are respectful to each other. Unlike the lacey one, Rude patrons, who seem to think they own the gym.

Glad we found this place. Looking forward to working out and losing weight. Hope it helps!!

LA.F is a lot bigger location so they're able to offer more services, amenities, and workout machines than Planet Fitness. I feel their staff are more knowledgeable too. As a result, they're slightly more expensive, but I feel it's worth it. If I'm not mistaken LA Fitness will have a wider range of availability beginning 2023 as well. Yes They Have A Pool (Not Deep, No Diving), Sauna, Hot Tub. I really like that they have a secluded room to work out in privacy. Plus they have a few other rooms for sports and yoga. They even have on-site daycare.

I got a free 4 day pass i went to go use the pass today and they Sent me to a guide to talk to me about the membership I only went there to get the 4 day pass and then They start talking about what membership do you want before you even make a decision how's people different like a decision how people just want to come trapped still in a couple times before they make a decision on that but this guy which one you want to sign up for today I was not in the mood for it and previous to me arriving there they called me numerous times while at work setting up appointments that you dont want i recomend going to another gym with no pressure. So i walked out and will never go back

For the love of all that is still good in this world please fire the entire staff and restart. GM down all need to go . No one shows up on time , they are all miserable. Gym is dirty , dysfunctional & unorganized. Nobody here has any sort of work ethic to make this a welcoming & happy environment . You turn through front desk staff like butter & still fail to do simple tasks like stocking paper towels & mopping the floors. There are Doctors, lawyers, city officials & business owners all cancelling their memberships here. This is your community . Over 1 dozen cars have been stolen from this parking lot, more than double that in locker/vehicle break ins. This is an abomination to LA fitness's brand & reputation as a functional place to exercise . Due to the lack of gyms in surrounding area we are forced to come here but in no way does this establishment reflect the standard i know you are trying to uphold.

Signed up a few months ago and people at La fitness welcomed me. Went in yesterday to cancel and a guy came out the back, tried to talk me out of canceling, and when he finally cancelled me, he walked away and went back to his seat without saying have a good day or anything- HE JUST WALKED AWAY. Love that service and I will not come back to any la fitness and If someone ask me about a gym, I won’t be talking about la fitness that’s for sure and it was your conduct that just left me at the stand standing there thinking dude was going to get a paper and come back, but he didn’t. Done here
