My husband and I had a great experience at this gym. The GM, Wayne, was incredibly personable and welcoming. He helped us get set up quickly and gave us a thorough tour before our first workout, which made us feel right at home. The training facility, locker rooms, and restrooms are all very clean. The atmosphere is positive and the members are respectful and friendly. It’s a good gym in a convenient location. Highly recommend!

Sunday 8/10, i went in for an early morning work out. With in the firat hour of opening. Someone cut the lock on my locker and stole my wallet. Come to find out 2 others had itema stolen the same time. The front desk gave the normal speech,l " we are not responsible for personal belongings....." they didnt even make a report of any type. Filing a report with the police and calling off all my cards and heard nothing from LA Fitness. Very frustrating. Otherwise It's just like any other LA Fitness.

This is great gym with a wide selection of equipment and a very relaxed atmosphere. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and keep the facility squeaky clean. I'm not sure what some claim to be broken equipment for days because I see the maintenance staff working on gear almost every day.
My only complaint, and to me it's a big one, is their weekend hours. An 8 am open..? Really..? C'mon guys, you do so well in everything else, you're going to drop the ball on your early morning patrons? For that fault, they lose one star.

The last time I went was 3 yrs. Ago. I had problems with my walker, going through many hard to open doors, having great difficulty in opening them with a walker. Now I'm in a mobile scooter and there is no way to get to swimming pool with scooter. I reached out to them, if they can make it more ADA accessible. I was told that someone can help me. I tried it one time. They helped me open doors going to pool. However, I asked them to come and help after 2 hours and no one showed up. I was alone and couldn't ask anyone to help.Until about 30 minutes later had a customer help me. After that I had to stop going due to swimming/hot tub area is not ADA accessible. When I was leaving most employees were on their phone or talking to each other. I even reached out to your then manager, telling him my concorns and letting him know I want to cancel membership, due to the ADA accessibility. He said someone can help me.
This is why I have anxiety, due to people not caring for the disabled. This is the only thing that I can do physically wise to exercise without pain. I see you have a new manager now. So let's make it happen, allow more people with disabilities to have easy access to pool. No matter the shape or condition of the body, I want to live longer, and not mildew the couch. And KEEP THE HOT TUB WORKING ALL THE TIME. Please and thank you. Let me know, so my friends and I can come back.

I signed up for a 3-day pass and had planned to go to the Puyallup location because it was closer to my home; however, they didn't have open time slots so I went over to the Spanaway/Tacoma location. I'm glad I did because it was a great experience. I worked out two days with Lole and not only did he listen to what I was looking for, but he catered the workout to my capabilities. Everyone seemed friendly and happy to be there. Would highly suggest checking it out.

I had a fantastic first experience at LA Fitness today. The registration process was easy and staff were friendly and knowledgable. The facility feels very upscale, I appreciate the cleanliness and attention to detail. I also appreciate all of the included amenities such as the pool, hot tub, sauna, basketball court, and group fitness classes. When you first sign up you are offered a free session with a personal trainer, I highly recommend taking advantage of this service! My trainer, Lole, was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and supportive. First days in the gym can be intimidating, but he created a safe space for learning and growing. Throughout our session, several members greeted him and were happy to see him, this is a testament to the positive relationships he has built! He helped me create a fitness plan, completed a workout with me, and gave me a tour of the facility. I’ve been to several gyms in south Tacoma and this feels like the most quality for the price. Five stars.

Overall, the gym is a decent gym before kids. Now, having a kid, I cannot emphasize enough how much I HATE the front windows. The pool and the childcare center have huge floor to ceiling windows that face the sidewalk and parking lot. You can see everything going on inside 24/7. I have never used the pool because of this, and I cannot bring myself to use the child center either. I wish that they would put in either one way so you can see out but people on the outside cant see in or they would put a privacy cover up half the windows so people outside cant see in.

The worst toilet paper holders in the cheapest toilet paper on the face of the Earth. Mounted so low that the toilet paper always hits the floor and you cant see. Just a little bits of the cheapest toilet paper there is come off at a time. And Poor maintenance of machines--many if not most some part of it doesn't work.

As the alarm blared at 4:30 AM, I dragged myself out of bed, still groggy but motivated for an early workout at LA Fitness in Spanaway. I meticulously packed my gym bag, double-checking that I had my water bottle, headphones, and a fresh towel. The anticipation of hitting the gym before the sun rose fueled my excitement. I slipped into my workout gear and headed out into the crisp morning air, mentally preparing for a solid session of cardio and strength training.

However, as I pulled into the parking lot, a wave of frustration washed over me when I noticed the gym staff had not arrived on time again on December 27,2024 . My heart sank, and all the motivation I had felt just moments before was replaced by disappointment, leaving me to wonder how to salvage my morning and turn this setback into a positive start to the day. Well as o was about to depart the parking lot at 0515 the staff arrived and open the gym. SMH , come on staff get it together .

The staff is full of nice and friendly people. The bathrooms are atrocious most of the time. The trash cans stay overflowing, the paper towel is always low, trash all over the floor, cardio equipment rarely wiped down, dust balls everywhere! I don’t even show at 5am because I’ve sat outside in the parking too many times waiting for the opener to show up. I can’t tell you if it’s gotten better because I intentionally show up 10 mins late. I had a really good experience doing my health assessment and personal training session. It was informative and the workout was a challenge yet satisfying to accomplish. This is the most dirtiest gym I've ever been at. I was initially a member of Planet Fitness and loved how clean staff made sure it was, I was often greeted and people put their weights away once done. But here, it is the complete opposite. It's so dirty, there are no paper towels or wipes or spray to wipe down equipment, the floors are dirty, the bathrooms as well. People also don't put their weights away they are not respectful or considerate at all. The only reason I switched to LA fitness it was because it was closer to me. But I just cancelled my gym membership today because for what I'm paying and to not have basic hygiene is crazy. I'm moving back to Planet fitness you get more for what pay for. for.

I have been coming to this LA fitness off and on since around 2019. Nothing much has improved and if anything they have lost a few things like the smoothie bar. The equipment are still in order but the same since 2019. They did put in a turf area with trx and sled and other stuff which is nice. The water fountains are the same since 2019. I am not picky though as I don't have anything at home. They have a lot equipment and machines. Unfortunately though it is not cleaned a lot. The bathroom is ALWAYS dirty and the trash is overflowing and half the sinks have no soap or paper towels. It feels corporate is just letting everything fall apart until they can liquidate and shutdown. If they don't even check the trash it makes you wonder what else they fail to keep up with. Clean always before and after you touch anything.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but I hate having my time wasted even more, and this was just- dumb. I spent my morning getting ready to use my guest pass, I just moved here and was excited to check out the local La fitness. When I arrived I was told I couldn't redeem my pass because there were no sales people there yet... I don't see how that's my problem (note: receptionist was nice, just doing her job), apparently this is a new thing management is enforcing.
1. There is no mention of a sales person needing to be present on the guest pass or email I received
2. If you want people to sign up so bad, maybe have a sales person there at all times instead of telling people to come back later after they've made a trip- terrible first impression, why would I want to come back lol

This is the most dirty LA fitness I have ever been in, the bathrooms are regularly dirty and out of toilet paper, Sinks tend to be broken for long periods of time, lockers have trash in them and need vacuumed out, and shower soap dispensers are all broken or out of soap. Minimal house keeping work would make this gym much better however I've been coming here for years and have seen it spiral down. Step it up LA Fitness.

My keys and car got stolen from my locker. Case still hasn’t been investigated even though I filed a police report. Staff is always on their phones or watching sports at their desks. I’ve never seen any of the staff clean either the lock rooms or gym equipment. I would not be surprised that the person who stole my keys and car is not even a member of the gym. Highly recommend going to a different LA Fitness location.

I am physically standing in front of the Kids Klub watching one adult in there with 14 kids by themself. There are 4 kids pulling each others hair in the corn and another throwing a ball at another one’s face. The adult is sitting at the table on their phone. I have been considering taking my son here but each and every time I walk by this is what I see. One adult with WAY too many kids and just on their phone. I would have reported it to the front desk but the girl was sitting at the desk reading and didn’t even look up to say hi when I checked in.

This place never gets cleaned. The floors are nasty especially around the free weight benches. I’ve seen trash sit in the showers for weeks. Those underwear have been there for a month and counting. This place is a MRSA lawsuit waiting to happen.

They need to do a better job of keeping the bathrooms clean. And it would be nice if they had the massage bed that planet fitness has. But they do have a pretty good class schedule and nice variety of machines. They also have a sauna and pool.

Update. They no longer have a good class schedule. There are now very few classes. And the rest of the place is looking dirty and run down, not just the bathrooms.

Went there this Sunday and was very disappointed in the conditions in the mens bathroom and showers. No toilet paper in two of the three stalls and no soap in the dispensers in the showers. Notified the staff before I did my workout and 1.5 hours later checked and noticed nothing had been taken care of.

My overall impression of this gym is that they are doing the bare minimum as a gym for as much as memberships cost, I expected a lot more although the gym seems to be mostly clean. The area of concern for me was free weights. There's a pretty good stench from all the weights, which I understand happens, but Wade should be sprayed and treated regularly maybe they are. I'm not sure just something that stuck out. The bathrooms could definitely be cleaner. The inside of the walkers are dirty and unacceptable. The staff is very friendly. Below are a few things that I think need to be added or addressed

The water fountains are standard water fountains water bottle filtered filling stations need to be added

There needs to be disinfecting wipe stations all over the place for people to wipe down equipment and should be required. There are only a couple stations throughout the gym

The children's center seems like a good thought but needs to be upgraded as well as a combination lock or HID lock with a key that gets checked out when you check in your kid. This is a security issue I think as it is close to the entry doors I understand that it is manned however, that's only one line of defense and we talk about our children. We want them to be as safe as possible

To sum everything up, I do not think this is a bad gym but definitely need some upgrades in a few changes. now Keep in mind this is to go with the amount that we pay for a membership. This is why I am being so critical.

I Had a 1 on 1 with Ali who was very nice and seemed generally concerned on helping me meet my personal goals. Asked all the right questions to see what my goals are and my limitations. Had a very clear plan on how I can meet my goals. Thank you Ali, for your time.

It is a great place to work out. It kicks anytime fitness right in the butt. All that I need I. A gym as far as equipment goes yes. All is better. But they are not open 24 hours. Dang!!!

Pro: I actually really like the step up of the gym. Different varieties of equipment for strength and conditioning. And lots of cardio equipment.

Con: Straight up one of the dirtiest place I have been to. You really dont expect this kind of quality from an "LA Fitness" gym.

The worst place of all is the kids play center. It's like there is no ventilation in there. As soon as you walk in you can immediately smell the murkiness in there.

The staffs just hang out in the cubicles and not really doing anything to maintain the establishment.

They have one employee who is constantly cleaning and everyone wears masks. They offer variety of classes. I hope they'll add yoga. It's nice to have a whirlpool and sauna after a workout. I love their water aerobics classes. They offer personal trainers for an additional fee. It's a nice place to go for exercise.

Good gym, but the whole staff are rude (don't greet, barely even Acknowledge people who come through the door, not even knowing what they have going on when calling to ask). Gym needs a overhaul of staff and a good deep cleaning/fixing. Takes forever to get something fixed.

None of the showers got hot today, and didn’t feel like getting into a cold shower so I am going to shower at home. Pool heater has not been working for awhile now. Dust and dirt everywhere…Where is all of our membership money going? Not having hot water to shower in after sweating for an hour is a health hazard

Love that it’s close to home! Clean and has what I need for a quick workout. It just doesn’t have a lot of group classes like it used to. Still enjoy having the option for the pool, basketball, or even the sauna. Loving the Bootcamp style options to work on your own!
