The actual facility and equipment are pretty great, but I was so pissed off by staff that I had to leave this review. At 10 they started blasting the shittiest music and frequently changing the volume up and down in an attempt to drive us out. That’s fine you want to go home, but come on we have a full hour before you close and that’s just ridiculous. I was out by 10:40 and this wasn’t the 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd time I’ve had this happen while hitting a late workout. I work closing shifts too which is why I often have to go late, but if you can’t suck it up then don’t take it.

The gym has lots of stuff. However we lost out on things like boxing to classes and the pool to British swimming class literally ALL the time. Constantly do not have access to the pool and having kids in the pool adds a cleanliness risk that we don’t pay for. There’s also no towel service and many of us pay for that each month. My biggest complaint is classes and kids in the pool with very limited access due to the swimming school. The shower/sauna often are dirty and have flies or stink but they do clean it when you ask. The shower curtains often have mildew on them. Not the best LA Fitness for that reason but the actual gym portion is really nice still. The gym staff do not regulate well the people on their phones so there’s quite a few people talking on their phones loudly at the gym areas. Not a horrible gym but could be better kept. I think the gym tries but I do think cleanliness in the locker rooms is a big deal.

There is black mold in the women’s showers. Everything needs to be cleaned thoroughly and more frequently. There is only one water bottle filling station in the whole place and the music goes back and forth between loud and quiet.

Recently joined. At first everything seems amazing, they have really great amenities and a large open space, but I’ve noticed a few things that bother me.

This place is DIRTY. Grime everywhere, don’t look too close or you’ll gross yourself out. I’m not even kidding, it looks like this place hasn’t had a good deep clean since they opened. Management PLEASE get this place deep cleaned, hire a crew to come and scrub down every surface, hire more cleaning staff, whatever it takes, something really needs to be done.

Some more wipe down stations are severely needed. There’s a culture of not wiping down equipment here I’ve noticed. A lot of people won’t bother walking across the entire gym to get a flimsy little sanitizer wipe from one of maybe 3 stations, so a lot of the equipment is just covered in the previous persons sweat. It builds up, it’s gross, and it makes me paranoid to touch things. Maybe more stations with actual spray and paper towels to use.

The locker rooms fall into the same trap of uncleanliness. Things just feel gross, like a Petri dish. There’s a sour stench in the air, edges and corners of every surface have grit and grime buildup, and again, looks as though nobody’s given it a good wash in far too long. I should walk in expecting clean floors and a sterile environment. I should expect lemon pledge smell not BO. It’s a shared space for many people so cleanliness NEEDS to be higher on the priority list.

Management please address these issues. They are within your control, and it really is not an unreasonable ask or standard to uphold. Planet Fitness feels cleaner than this place does.

EDIT: 8 months later now, and the cleanliness conditions are just as appalling as they were when I initially wrote this review. Sanitizing stations still missing sanitizing wipes, grime and sweat buildup still on machines, etc. What’s worse is, there is a sign (pictured) stating “This cleansing foam may be applied to a paper towel and used to wipe equipment”, with absolutely no paper towels or cleansing foam to speak of, anywhere. Absurdity. Seriously, is it so hard to just prioritize cleanliness a little? This does not fall on the clients, this does not fall on gym staff even, this falls squarely on management and their lack of oversight. Do better LA fitness.

I signed up here because it was close to my daycare, when my daycare closed down we asked to make our home gym the 4th plain facility. Instead of just changing our home gym, we were told we had to either upgrade our membership or cancel and rejoin at 4th plain. It's really bad Customer service. With it being a corporate store and not a franchise, there is ZERO reason for they cannot change our home gym. I asked for a manager multiple times and never got a call back. Very poor customer service and polices.

Also the daycare workers need better training. I was called during my workout because my son threw a toy and they didn't know how to handle it. If you can't handle kid throwing an item or know how to redirect, you shouldn't work in a childcare center.

The front desk can be very rude! They really need to clean the bathroom & showers. I don't use them they are gross! I've seen and had trainers take my machine because they are doing a private training session, not even polite about it. I really like 24 Hour Fitness, Golds Gym is much nicer as well. Planet It fitness is close by very affordable & clean. I really like some of the club members, they are usually very nice! After 4pm the club gets incredibly busy!

Definitely something to think about canceling with finances are tight. It's not just the automatic payment system. It's the agressive blowing up phones and multiple times a day attempting ro rerun payments. Causing rent and other bills to bounce.

Killing my grocery budget within less then 5 minutes of turning my card on in line at the grocery store from my phone to pay for groceries before getting to the checkout stand.

LA had improved I think. They used to have unethical managers and sales ffolks but they look to have cleaned up after Covid. Great classes, good equipment. Love the sled - please replace the gross orange strap. It would be nice if they got equipment that works on anterior chain (like Knees over Toes Guy has). They are going to get pilates reformers... not sure where that will fit.

I joined this location a couple months ago. I'm already considering cancelling my membership due to a lack of cleanliness, especially in the mens locker room/bathrooms. WiFi is down frequently. They also need more cleaning/wipe down stations, many equipment users do not wipe down equipment after using as there are only a couple locations to get wipes from.

Bags everywhere on the floor.
Now people think they can "RESERVE" an equipament leaving their bags or personal objects and go mingle. Employees are like objects. They do absolutely nothing.
Men's locker rooms smell like used underwear all the time. I can stay there for more than 30 seconds.
Working out with no shoes or flip flops is a very common issue.
There is a guy with some problem that is always slamming machines and weights. They just talk with him 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I have 30+ years in gym floors, and I have never seen such obnoxious behavior without management taking action.

If employees and "professionals" would enforce gym rules or if at least the gym had rules, it would be a better place.

I've been to LA Fitness all over the country due to work travel and this is by far the best ran one out there. The gym is extremely clean, the free weights are actually in order and not just placed throughout the gym. There is no rust on any of the equipment as I have seen several times at other locations. The manager (Robert) there is a very approachable guy who really gets to know his members and team. I typically hate commercial gyms but this one is definitely doing it right!

This is a good workout facility. There is a lot of equipment, its kept clean, and the staff is friendly, helpful. My only complaint is they are very slow at repairing things and the air conditioning in the classrooms doesn't work very well which is an issue during the summer months.

Jasmine called me today saying I was too loud and slamming weights. I’ve been going to la fitness for 10 years. The only movement that’s not a machine is a T bar row that is a free weight movement that hits the floor. It’s fine to give me a heads up about not trying to slam stuff, but that’s never my goal anyhow. Is there floor damage? No! There are no machines I’ve broken. Not one! If I have, I wouldn’t be able to use the same machine every week since they remodeled this place. I don’t slam machines. They said I’m also too loud even though I’m not yelling or screaming. It’s a natural grunt and can you blame me if I’m going to failure on a leg press for 15 reps? Yeah it’s freaking hell. I’m not going to be a quiet mouse. Same thing with the t bar row. How can I damage it? What is this planet fitness? My complaint is music is too loud out at this location. The sauna sucks. I go to this location once a week. I use to come here a lot when Vinny trained me and Ryan trained me. I go to 4th plain 4 days a week. There’s a reason I go to this location , certain machines are better here. 4th plane has has a better sauna , better staff, workers that actually work, instead of this location all they do is sit on their phones. For now I’ll keep going to this place on Saturdays but I’m extremely annoyed to say the least. La fitness can be whoever they want to identify as but if you want serious lifters to leave than start putting principles in place by making it more planet fitness like. No gym should have yellers or screamers. I’m not promoting being obnoxious , BUT Put a stupid alarm in the building, put some cameras to actually validate if someone is ruining a machine . I don’t recommend this place if there are newer gyms. That’s my rant . You want me gone, tell it to my face. I’ll gladly leave. I’m slamming machines show me by approaching me after a set.
Use your staff and have them watch me. Someone is paying them to do their “job”.. Then do your job. I’m the same guy every week. I have sleeves and I’m hard to miss. I’ll be waiting😅

I love this gym. Feels like a second home to me! Mainly I came on here to leave a review for the kids club. Riley and Cecilia and absolutely phenomenal. They are so patient and are so kind. This is the worst gym in Vancouver. It's filthy all the time. It smells like a gas leak. The pool has been broken for months, which the staff lied about when we signed up. The personal trainer double booked us twice. When we cancelled our membership, they continued to charge our credit card. Then they wouldn't admit us in to workout, even though we paid first and last month when we signed up. I could go on. I don't normally write reviews, but please steer clear.

Where to start?! For the 3rd time (on days I've been there) in a couple months, the young gal that opens the gym at 5AM, showed up late. Today, she showed up at 6am!! Her excuse today was that her alarm didn't go off. That stinks for paying customers.

The pool and hot tub has been closed for a very long time. They keep making excuses (parts for hvac, etc). Buy a new system, or refund some money.

They took out some of the best machines to build a big open area for stretching and personal trainers. They then consolidated the rest of the equipment extremely close to each other. There are a few that use the open area, but not many.

Where is the management? Do customers matter? Obviously not. I have been a member for two years, but I am done. I will cancel my membership at the end of this month.

Going to cancel my membership. The pool and hot tub has been closed for at least 6 months. Locker room is usually filthy, smells nasty. The last few visits I’ve made have been like working out in the sauna because the air conditioning is not working properly. The staff is generally not helpful and seem like they hate their jobs. I have been a member for more than 10 years and in the last year this gym has been terrible. The pool has been closed more than a month and it’s super hot every time I go there. This is the worst gym I’ve ever been to!!!
The swimming pool has been closed for close to a year now. The sauna is super disgusting has mold growing in side and the seats are about a fall apart.
The AC has been broken for longer than I can remember, it’s just blowing hot air, and it feels like i’m trying to work out in a sauna!
And It was super hard to cancel my membership.
Go to any other gym, except this one.

I signed up in september just for the pool only and they closed the pool same week in September and said it will open in a month than 2 months pass never opened and now half a year passed the pool still closed even thought i froze my membership but sadly i paid for first and last month and couldn’t even use the membership at all just because pool closed, so i canceled because seems like the pool will never open and thats how they scam people on membership and lying that pool will open in a month when they have no idea when, thats what they told me when i signed up that it will open next month if i knew it wouldn’t i would never signed up and waste my money

Canceling my membership asap. Why? Check this:
-Pool has been closed for over a year.

-The bathroom blows out hot air so I went to the front desk to notify them if maybe their heater was on instead of AC.

-Employees told me the AC does not work. Since we allll sign waivers, if we pass out bc it’s so hot, they’re not liable. How convenient

-Employees also told me that a higher up individual got 200k from corporate to fix/install new AC and took the money instead. Even after employees told corporate, corp didn’t care.

-Even employees sitting at the check in desk at sweating inside while it’s nice and breezy outside! I asked if they could open the door and she said, “it’ll get better after we close for the evening”…. Hmm no caca?!

-They’re losing a lot of customers bc they seem to not care.

-Sure they might fix the AC and pool eventually but the delay and indifference shows a lot about a company. So I will not be supporting them and will highly warn others.

Update - if you are going to pay for a trainer, whatever plan you get and don't fulfill you will be charged half the price of what's remaining. For example I did a 6-month plan with one training session per week it came to about $250 a month by the third month I needed to cancel and had to pay $350 to cancel but that $350 does not include training sessions equal to that amount you just lose that money. Great way for the gym to keep money in their pocket not great for you if life happens and you can't fulfill your full obligation. I would suggest trying a month-to-month training plan to see if it's something you're able to do it might save you more money in the end.

Not sure why 1 star reviews this is a gym not a spa. I have been working out here for 3 months and I am really happy I joined. I have never had anything stolen from my locked locker and it's clean. The trainers are amazing and super helpful, getting the best workouts of my life thanks to Jaspreet. The only reason I took two stars away is because 1. They only have maybe 1 or 2 classes available after 5pm a few days a week, the vast majority of their classes are in the morning when I am working so I can't go
2. They need to be honest about the pool situation. I personally didn't join to use the pool but is has not been open the whole 3 months I have been a member, they claim it's because of a part they are waiting for but I think it's too expensive to run the pool and they don't have enough members to justify the cost. Other than that I am happy and will continue with my fitness goals here!

A pool that is never open. During training sessions my trainer and I would have to constantly shift on the workouts because equipment is not available. Go in on a weekend when management is not around the place is a mess. Want to wait for a machine while 3 or 4 teenagers hang out on a machine and hog it for 30 minutes this is the place to be. Oh yeah....throw in a $50 yearly fee when i am already paying hundreds a month for membership and training. Only saving grace at this place is their trainers....but tbh....not worth it.

I shouldn't even give one star. LA fitness is trash, worst customer service I've ever experienced, especially at the Hazel Dell location. They make impossible to cancel a membership. I moved out of town with no LA fitness service location, however they insisted I come to the original location of my membership to cancel. Several hour drive and a 1 hour wait for management help, which all could have been done over email... I paid for almost 3 months that I didn't use because of this issue. I'm reporting them to the better Business bureau.

This review is specifically for my experience with the training staff. I went to LA Fitness after being diagnosed with long COVID and getting recommendations from doctors. I was nervous about rehab and when I went in there they listened to my needs (which are different from losing weight, etc). I was paired with the most perfect trainer for me (Rhon) who has a significant amount of experience. This rehab experience has been nothing but amazing considering it could have been a nightmare. They are patient, kind, professional, and I feel like they genuinely care. The gym is always clean and organized of course but it's the service that deserves the recognition here. I of course am bummed about the pool being closed, but I don't think it's the staff who are the issue on that. They are just as upset about it as we are.

It's over 4 months that the swimming pool is closed for repairs.
Any time calling to find out the reopening date they used to say in a month, now after almost 5 months they say we are in the process of repair, but we don't know when it would be ready!
Very irresponsible and not caring for the members at all.
I have asked several times regarding the cause and they say there is a problem with the air condition and the filter! Does it really take this long to fix this problem?!
The problem gets worse and ugly, when there is another LA fitness in Vancouver that shamelessly they say the pool has a problem that is not fixable....
There must have been some sort of maintenance issue that somebody has not done it correctly that in this most population growing town in Washington state this has happened!!!

Staff warned me of theft my first time coming in… the pool is closed and that’s the only reason I Wanted a membership with these place… staff didn’t even offer to give me a tour of the place! They charged me an initiation fee after advertising there wasn’t one… paid over 173 dollars and in two weeks already was sent a bill for 59 yearly amount… not to mention my fiancée paid for this membership for me as a surprise for Christmas and Josh was so money hungry to get our money that he called me and ruined the surprise even know there were notes stated not to call me!! Today they wouldn't let me in because I didn't have my drivers license- so confused...I gave them my license and they took my picture the first time I came and I have never been asked for it since. LA Fitness has two locations in Vancouver. The Fourth Plain Blvd location closed its pool for repairs 3 years ago. 6 months ago the Hazeldale Location close it's pool and jacuzzi for repairs. Some kids club staff should not be around children. My son was traumatized and will no longer be left alone with others. After being there previously, we went to work out leaving a happy toddler and came back to a kid who loves everyone, crying in a corner with a bright red face sobbing with the workers phone in his hands and as soon as she heard me she ripped it out of his hands. Didn’t get one call that he was having a hard time. She was just sitting and talking with a group of girl workers while my baby was sitting in the corner crying alone. Also there were no other kids other than him and there was still a good 30minutes-hour until the kids club closed. Do not recommend and wish I would have got footage of what happened but no one would help. He would scream and cry anytime we would mention going to work out or say the word play place after whatever happened in there. He would beg us not to bring him. This happened about 2 years ago and I posted this before but it seems reviews are being deleted. There was 2 very nice male workers there at the time though. They need actual daycare workers, and not just staff they switch out to fill in. Very gross they do not put in the effort to make sure the kids are safe and in good hands.

Rhon and Travis are outstanding trainers and are professional and knowledgeable.

The selection of equipment is huge they probably have just about everything and it’s well maintained, nothing is ever broken or malfunctioning. This location has too many people almost all hours of the day, it’s always buzzing. They close early on the weekends which is lame.

The locker rooms are spacious and have lots of cubbies. The sauna can fit a good amount of people and gets really hot. The showers are hit or miss with water temp and pressure and they seem to always be dirty. They can easily afford to check on the locker rooms/bathrooms more than once a day. The pool has been closed for too long and they said it’s because they’re having issues getting parts in, no compensation for the inconvenience though expect to totally freeze your account for three months, even though it’s been closed for that long and won’t be open for another month or two.

The woman at the desk was doing her nails for an hour while i was trying to talk to her.

She said that La fitness has no phone policy. There were people filmed and got my husband was in the background unknowly. I know because I work out on the top floor and saw this unfold.

I have been a member at this gym for 2 years. Since signing up I have had an account that allows 2 guests a day. I have brought many people to LA fitness on my guest pass and many are members now. The first time you bring a guest, they must bring their ID to be entered into the system and have their picture taken.

Recently this location has had many issues with the pool and sauna. With swimming being one of the main forms of exercise I enjoy, I have put my account on hold (which stills charges $10 a month to hold your membership? My account has been on hold for 3 months at this point.

I have friends that still frequent this gym and a couple weeks ago I decided to come to the gym to check out the new sauna. The pool is still down and my account is still on hold. I bring my ID and get put in to the system under my friends account as a guest. They took my picture and I specifically asked if I will need my ID again to come in under my friends account.
The response was something along the lines of, if you come in enough under your friends account you won’t need your ID.

Today I came in to enjoy the sauna with my friend, brought my ID and I already anticipated a problem with this. The only reason I feel there would be a problem is if the “manager” is working at the front desk. For whatever reason, every encounter that I have at this gym is with her and it’s always negative.

Today they would not let me in under my friends account because she had been in earlier in the morning with her fiancé. They said the only way for me to go in would be to pay the $20 on her account to add another person. Mind you we only want to use the sauna, the pool is still down.

I do understand the pool and equipment being down, but having a little better customer service and not asking me for my name when you have my ID in your hand because you are so focused on making it hard for us to even try and utalize the $40 a month membership fee plus the annual fee and also taking $10 a month to “freeze” the account when your facility is not clean and doesn’t work more then half of the time.

Train your staff to smile and have better customer service, it will go along way. It’s not all about money, how about asking how someone day

This place has the rudest customer service I have ever dealt with. The manager acts as if she doesn’t even know you when you literally have gone often for years there, in HER FACE! She “acts” as the manager in charge when I asked to speak with the manager, but not 2 minutes later, when I wanted to upgrade services for including my friends, she had to call ”the manager” above her to make account changes? Explain that one ☝️ not only that, today was the third straw, I’m over this. It is my friends birthday today 🎂 and they have the nerve to deny her coming in, charge me $20 for a day pass to let her in, and ask for her ID, even though they got it last time as my guest on their file- even though she has gone here with me for over 2 years! Unbelievable, how low can you people go. Not to mention the real problem with this pay structure is the nickel and timing you for services! My kids and family have to pay a premium, meanwhile have of the time their main services, pool and sauna, even gym reconstruction, has been out of service. They should offer compensation but their solution is to just freeze your account entirely if you he services are down. All or nothing mentality! Oh my, I need to find a better gym if anyone can point me in the right direction…

I enjoyed my experience working out at various LA locations, but then moved and needed to cancel and they made it SO difficult to cancel. You can only do so with a manager between 9 AM-5 PM, Mon-Fri. So during most people's normal working hours. For a process that should "only take 2 minutes" why does this need to inconvenience a member by requiring them to leave work early or come on their lunch? Oh but instead of cancelling you can pay $10 a month for as long as you need, to NOT workout there but to hold your spot in case you want to return one day and not go through the sign up process again...Ridiculous. Sadly just another money-hungry commercial gym.

Pool is too hot and dirty. Measured 85F today, you can't swim at speed at that heat. It's very murky, can't really see the other side underwater. Floating stuff, dirt on the floor. Not only is their pool always dirty and disgusting they now have children's swim lessons Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays from 4pm-7:30pm. This closes an entire lane for swimmers. So now we have to wait for lanes to open to swim. With this swim school, there were dirty diapers and changing tables on the pool deck. The paint is peeling off the walls, they have ants and the floors are moldy. LA Fitness Hazel Dell is the Walmart of local gyms.

They make changes that are not welcoming or appropriate for their existing members, like removing the stretching area from the mirrored area, and forcing all floor work to the center of attention. Decisions to hold classes during high capcity times in the pool was the last straw for me. Run away from this place and take your money with you. They don't earn the one star I gave them. I’m very disappointed in staff, specifically Brian and their manager. I was intentionally mislead about costs associated with adding family members, specifically if it was the same cost to add them at sign up, or further down the road. I very specifically asked three separate times and when confronted about the situation Brian who signed me up was beyond apathetic about the whole deal. No refunds, no apologies, no interest in my concerns. Feels like I was scammed and would have said anything to sign me up in that moment, which is not how you want to feel spending $100+ on a gym membership.

Pros: Fairly good equipment and plenty of it, for the times I visit (lunchtime or evening). I typically only do cardio, as I do weights at home. So I can’t speak for the weight area, but it appears to be done well. I joined right after they did a remodel of the main area of the club in March 2023, and that area looks pretty great.
Cons: The dry sauna in the Men’s locker room is tiny. It doesn’t fit more than about 6-7 people at a time. It also smells like it never gets cleaned.
The showers are really nasty. Some of the stalls have black mold growing in them and many have shower heads so old they only release 30% of the water they should due to mineral buildup.
I realize it can be hard to keep public showers clean, but it looks like they have not been deep cleaned in years. Almost every stall could use at least a new shower head and hardware, and a deep clean for basic usability. The shower curtains look like they have never been cleaned and many are stained and yellowing. I would happily pay $10-20 more a month for my membership if they would completely gut and update the showers and dry sauna. I hope this is the next remodel they have planned, because I feel dirtier coming out of the shower area than when I go in. I would highly recommend shower shoes.
To get from the locker room area to the shower, dry sauna, and pool you have to enter a code of 1234 to open the locked door. This is completely pointless and is just another area to gather more germs and slows everyone down. On the other side of that same door you have to press a magnetic button to open the door to get back to the locker room area.
Summary: If you want a gym with fairly decent cardio equipment this will do. As of May 2023, I highly recommend to showering at home. The entire shower area is disgusting and full of mold. Some shower stalls are completely unusable, and the dry sauna is tiny and dirty. I will be looking for a new gym unless the showers get a massive overhaul very soon.

This place could easily be 5 stars, I joined right before the revamp they did and at the time they would have tables set out with cleaning equipment for people to use. So I assumed that they would be adding more cleaning stations with the remodel but since reopening they don’t even have the tables set up anymore with the spray bottles. It’s back to the foam stations which are nowhere near most of the equipment(I think there’s 2 in the entire bottom floor) and horribly inadequate as it takes several pumps to even get a paper towel wet and several more to get it to transfer for cleaning. The last few times I’ve gone no one cleans up after themselves which would have been disgusting even before the pandemic and the entire place smelled of musk and sweat. Having worked in several gyms for nearly a decade I can honestly say I’ve never been in a gym where cleanliness was not a priority and yet that’s how it seems here. This location is perfect for me as it is close to work and has a kids club but I’ll probably be cancelling my membership and workout at Crunch again or check out Golds because it is not worth getting MRSA to workout.

Before working out with him I had a constant sore back and could feel every bit of my 40 plus years of age. But now I feel better then ever and only look forward to getting in even better shape.
