THE FEEL OF THE 80s

Need to replace the weights - first thing i will say - the majority are made out of rubber that literally stick to other weights if left alone for to long and can be a little interesting, especially if someone decides to leave a 45 on the floor, it will weld itself to the floor where someone from the staff will have to scrape it off the ground. The new lockers are small, definitely liked the larger ones they used to have so you didn't feel so claustrophobic. Staff is pretty friendly, and i was working out next to one of the classes ran by a couple of instructors, seemed liked the students enjoyed the class (high intensity, low weight, high reps). The top floor (though i hardly use it) is full of cardio equipment and in my opinion the best floor, its neat, simple and creates a good workout environment.

Overall, since i powerlift for the most part, i would give it a 3/5
Its not a great gym, the equipment is outdated and for what it seems like that a ton of people are constantly using the weights, the weights need to get replaced (almost every 25lb plate is beat to hell, im pretty sure i could grab someones finger prints off it from the 1980s)

Place is alright when they actually open on time. Whoever refuses to fire and replace the garbage employee that continually fails to open the gym at the scheduled 5am should in turn be fired and replaced so someone competent can start running the show. It's 19 days into the year and this has happened 3 times already.
Also, they are talking about refusing men the third floor cardio room because some women feel they are being mentally fat shamed or something? Get it together.

The staff is amazing and so helpful. I love my trainer. So worth 25 bucks a month. It is open early n does not close till 11 pm. I like that!

Used to be a very big gym but it has now been downsized dramatically which is too bad. The changing room went from the biggest one I have ever seen down to probably the smallest. I do like how on the third floor there is a exercise room that plays movies. Pretty neat! It's convenient to have the gym is near by so that I can ride my bike to it and do some cardio before getting on the weights.

Friendly atmosphere. Cant speak on the training staff as I do my own stuff. They could really use update equipment. I think with updated equipment, more people would be willing to join. I was a member at LA Fitness in Mill Creek where machines were always maintained and had ample number of weights to use. Sometimes I find during the busy times that 45 lbs weight and misc dumbbells are hard to come buy. The pulley machines could really use updating.

I've had an overall positive experience with this gym over the last few years that I've been going to this gym on and off. They have friendly staff, great equipment and a nice overall atmosphere. The classes are especially great and the gym has never felt overcrowded like with other gym experiences I've had.

I didn't have any of the same issues that everyone else had with billing. I signed up for the month to month (I don't think they even have a 1 year membership anymore?), and cancelled in January (it's now May) because I moved away. I haven't had any issues with billing after the fact.

Anyways, I thought I'd leave a review now because I just joined a gym in my new city, and it makes me miss Gold's. Gold's gym is consistently clean, and has well spaced equipment. I like that their workout equipment looks out windows and not everything is in one room, so you can actually hear. The cardio theater was neat. There were a couple treadmill machines that didn't work (out of probably 15-20, split between two floors), but the majority of them were fine-- granted, I didn't use their TV's, just streamed videos over their WiFi. I would come in during rush hour, in the evening right after work, and never had a problem getting equipment. Locker rooms are clean, with changing rooms, free towel rental, plenty of lockers, showers, and a sauna.

The people there are honest, nice and down to earth. I did a workout class once, and it kicked my butt, but was a ton of fun. I wish there was a Gold's in my area! I got a lot fitter going here because I actually enjoyed it and it was a good price.

The employees are very rude. There is limited parking especially during peak hours. The machines and floors are very dirty and there are no spray bottles to clean things after use.

Beware of this gym. I was a member of this gym for a year and turned in my cancellation paperwork before my year was up. I was billed the next month for a "maintenance fee" along with another month of dues. All 8 of my phone calls were dodged by the management and not returned(I was always told the management was in a meeting whenever I called, be it morning or afternoon). I went out of my way going into the club only to be cussed at by one of the front staff members. I filled out another cancellation form and was told that they would only cancel my membership if the gym management thought my reason for canceling was "good enough". Aside from the liars and thiefs that work there, the gym has a large number of OBESE personal trainers that couldn't run a mile if their life depended on it. Machines are not maintained, or fixed in a timely manner either. Avoid this gym at all costs.

While I can't speak to the billing issues many folks speak of (I am only in town 3 weeks and after a little pressing, managed to get the sales person to simply charge my credit card once for the 3 weeks...20 bucks I might add, not too shabby), I am an avid weightlifter and this part of the club is fantastic. It's never too crowded...I even went in around 7pm when many gyms are slammed and had no trouble getting through a chest workout. Unheard of. In the early morning when I typically work out, there are usually only 3 or 4 other people.

Also, the selection of equipment is fantastic. They have just about every machine I've ever seen and in some cases, they have multiple brands (Cybex, Hammer Strength, etc.) of the same machine. Plate loaded, cables, and free weights. The dumbbells go up to an ungodly weight (150s I believe). Just an awesome array of equipment. I can't speak for the past, but as of May 2013, I haven't noticed any equipment being down.

If you want someone to say 'hi' to you at the door or 'good job', go somewhere else. They seem to have employed a staff consisting 100% of introverts.

Just a word of advice, anytime you are dealing with a gym cancellation, make sure you get something in writing, the name of the person you are dealing with, and a confirmation number (if you are sending it by mail use a service that requires an authorized signature). I used to work in the fitness industry and not a day went by when people would try to cancel their contract before it was up. Unfortunately this has led to a situation where people feel cheated and misled. Toss in a few dirtballs on the fitness industry side and things can get really messy. My point, take a moment and read your contract from top to bottom BEFORE you sign it and ask as many questions as you can think of so you know what you're getting into (then put it in a safe place so you refer back to it). Yes it's long. Yes it will take time (the sales person will wait, their commission depends on it). But you will save yourself a lot of headaches in the long run.

Summary: Good club for weight lifters. I just hope its still in business when I come back in September since its so unbelievably empty.

I was signed up for 24 trainer sessions with a particular trainer who was fired. Golds believes that after 20 sessions with this trainer they could pass me off to a new trainer since they fired my original. They have refused to refund, return calls and have been very unprofessional on the phone. It has been close to a month. This company acts as though they are having financial problems. Be wise when dealing with this gym.

The GYM looks great, but that’s just the surface. They will lie to you. I went in to cancel my husband’s account and since mine was up at the next month sign the cancel paperwork. I signed one for his then was told oh, you don’t need to sign anything your account will automatically expire and they will send you a renewal notice. In the meantime, my bank account changed debit card numbers. Since my account had expired with the gym, I didn’t think anything of it. Fast forward 6 months and I get a strange e-mail that says I will be sent to collections shortly if I don’t pay the gym bill. I called and found out that they had been trying to charge my old card and had gotten unsuccessful charges and I asked “Why did you wait 4 months to tell me?” No answer. I said of course the account number was changed but I had no reason to update it will them since the account was supposed to be closed. So the manager said no the account doesn’t just expire, it just goes month to month and per the contract I owe those charges. So I paid them to avoid a collection. A week later I went into the gym to make sure the account was closed. I was told the account was closed. Fast forward again two more months and I saw a gym charge on my bank statement. I called the gym and was told I can’t talk to anyone on the weekend and I have to sign to cancel, well I moved 20 miles away so now I have to make another trip when gas is approaching 4 dollars a gallon. So now I have to wait until the following Monday. I drove to the gym today and as I signed the paper she said I will still be responsible for another 30 days. I said, “No, I am disputing this with my bank as you had no authorization to re-activate and resume billing since the account was closed.”

******Basically, don’t listen to anything anyone says at the gym. Make sure to get everything in writing, no matter what they say. *******

We have been with this gym since they've opened (well over a year). It has been an absolutely horrible experience. First and foremost the management lied about what equipment they'd be getting and when they'd open. When you're there, most of the staff makes you feel unwelcome.

Worst of all, my wife and I work out in the mornings, and no less than 5 times, they didn't even open in the morning! Nothing like waking up before 5:00 in a morning and coming to a closed gym. If you like to be lied to and treated as a number, come to this gym.

Rating this gym as one star is a stretch. Unfortunately Google doesn't allow negative stars.
