I recently moved away from Seattle and have been a long time member of OTF. When I’m visiting Seattle, I love to visit this studio! The coaches, staff, and other members are truly top notch. The studio’s energy is always positive and vibes are always good. If you’re in the area, I recommend you stop in and check it out!

I've worked out at Orange Theory gyms in 6 different states and this one is the best! This space has plenty of windows and is very clean, with great equipment. The coaches are top notch the staff is super friendly and inviting. Parking is available on the street or on the second floor of the garage where the gym is located - so it's really easy. You will love working out here!

I’m a cross-regional member and always make a point to visit Orangetheory Mercer Island whenever I’m in town. It never disappoints! The energy, coaching, and overall experience are consistently top-notch. This visit happened to be during Hell Week, and Coach Cherri and Coach Cameron made it so much better. They were super motivating, attentive, and made the workout fly by. I can’t wait to be back soon!

I’ve had the pleasure of going to this OTF location for years (I believe since 2018). I’ve seen a dramatic transformation in my body & strength. It’s the perfect blend of a workout providing both cardio & dumbbell strength training. The front desk staff is always cheerful and welcoming. My favorite coach has been Cam over the years - always bringing the tunes & good vibes during a workout.

I’ve been a member at Orangetheory for almost 9 years and I love this gym!

There is always variety in the workouts, the coaches are so helpful with modifications, and help you achieve your fitness goals. Special shout out to Cherri who plays great music that keeps me showing up on days where it’s hard to get out of bed and Kari who has such a care for the members and stretching.

The desk staff is incredibly friendly, always remember me, and make me feel at home every time I’m here.

Thanks OTF! ❤️❤️

I went to this OrangeTheory studio for almost a year and had a good experience until I needed to cancel my membership in October 2024, with plans to rejoin in 2025. This studio is under new management since my problems with it, but I think most of my complaints are with the broader corporation of OT, and I don’t see myself returning to any of their studios because of this.

WORKOUT
Decent and flexible. Equipment works well; good weight options. Instructors are generally helpful and give clear directions. I enjoyed OT’s data-driven nature, which let me see my heart health improve over time through attendance. It matched my smartwatch’s pretty closely.

Remixed music played during workouts is paired well to the flow of exercise. It’s decent but also painfully millennial (I say, as a millennial): a few classics with hits overwhelmingly from the ‘90s and ‘00s, some ‘10s. I would have liked a little more variety or, sometimes, less incongruous genre mashups.

CULTURE
Not for everyone. Not for me, really, but I made it work. OT has a manic “positivity” that is like nails on a chalkboard to me, but it was easy enough to ignore...until they wanted to take photos at the end of a successful event class.

Just because I’m in a class (that I’m paying for, no less) doesn’t mean I consent to having my image used in OT’s social media, especially in an era with AI. When I would refuse to join for a photo, there was a mild guilt trip. I REALLY didn’t like that and didn’t give into pressure. Photo experiences should be invitational, not assumed and certainly not pushy. Lots of people have body image issues or safety concerns.

CANCELLATION
It’s rigid and somewhat predatory. You should probably pay as you go and not get embroiled in monthly passes, no matter how much OT tries to upsell (and they will). OT requires a “30-day notice” for cancellation. Annoying, but I’m happy to work with terms I’ve agreed to if I can. If I can’t, I expect some reasonable flexibility if I’ve paid my dues without a hitch and been a decent person.

I’d been on a 4-classes per month package from the start. In October 2024, I had a medical emergency and suspected my immune system would be in poor shape for a few months, at least. (I was right.) In general, I wanted to cut back from indoor classes during cold/flu season, never mind ever-present covid.

The timing of my emergency meant I hadn’t been and wasn’t going to be able to attend any of my four classes for that October, so I emailed to cancel and ask for a refund. Even though half of my current month was left, I was told a refund for October was impossible and that the only way the NEXT fee for November could be “waived” was IF I SENT A DOCTOR’S NOTE.

If this was part of my original signup terms, I’d definitely forgotten, but it was so absurd in the moment that I laughed. The company behind OT is worth a BILLION dollars. I didn’t feel I owed them a doctor’s note to keep them from charging my credit card for a service I was not receiving.

I returned the (former) manager’s email saying I found this frustrating and wasn’t even sure I could provide a note if I wanted to, as I hadn’t been dealing with my GP but rather ER docs. Instead of replying to my email, they called. I didn’t answer because, hi, I WAS STILL RECOVERING FROM A MEDICAL EMERGENCY. Leave. Me. Alone. But I also have a longstanding policy that when corporations call me when I’m frustrated with them, it’s a clear sign I should keep things in writing. This has served me well in life.

In the end, I sent a screenshot of my ER visits logged in my healthcare manager, and they wisely waived the next fee. I would have taken it up with my credit card company if they hadn’t. I ate the lack of refund for October, though it did feel like a rip-off, given so much was out of my control.

Overall, I feel the Mercer Island OT studio is good. No ill will toward the staff. I did not have a bad workout experience. But I don’t have the time or energy for the connected corporate nonsense.

I walked into Orangetheory thinking I’d just “try it out”... and now I’m fully obsessed. The energy? Electric. The coaches? Like fitness wizards with motivational superpowers. The workouts? Challenging in the best way and never boring.

I love that everything is tracked—it turns working out into a game (hello, splat points!) and pushes me to go just a little harder each time. Plus, the playlists slap.

If you’re on the fence: jump off and sprint into class. Your future fitter self will thank you.

Live, laugh, love. All the feelings I have towards this studio. Incredible community, coaches and overall atmosphere. The studio is always welcoming and the coaches know exactly how to motivate me. While I am always happy the workout is over, about an hour later, I’m excited to book the next class. Thank you OTF Mercer Island (and coach Kimberly) for always helping me show up as my best self. I’d give this place 5 thumbs up if I could.

As someone with a LONG way to go, I was apprehensive about not looking fit, being too old, too slow etc… but there was only a warm welcome and encouragement. I used to despise group classes, as I've never been good at socializing/small talk. So naturally, I assumed this place wasn't the right fit for me. I stubbornly resisted trying it out for years, being a former athlete who preferred programming my own workouts and tailoring them to my body's needs. In fact, I even looked down on those who engaged in gimmicky workouts at such places.

But then, on a dark and stormy day, *wink* I noticed my gym workouts becoming increasingly lackluster. I struggled to find the time and energy to design my own routines, and it was taking a toll on my progress. I yearned for someone to take the reins, to handle the programming for me. I needed a change. That's when I discovered OTF, and my life took a turn.

The workouts at OTF encompass everything your muscles, heart, and lungs require. They strike a perfect balance between high and low intensity exercises, leaving no stone unturned. I appreciate the healthy competition aspect, which allows me to challenge myself and track my progress through benchmark workouts. It keeps me focused on getting faster and stronger, with the other benefits naturally following suit.

Let's not forget the people. This particular OTF location on Mercer Island is truly exceptional. Unlike many other studios I've tried, which prioritize numbers and sales, this one revolves around its members. Thanks to individuals like Jackson, Aurelie, Amanda, McKenna, and others, you're treated as much more than a mere statistic. Even when corporate interferes with their sales-centric approach, the team here understands what truly matters—the existing community. They genuinely care. Instead of forced, high-pitched greetings, you receive authentic and warm hellos.

I really appreicate all that this studio provides.

Not that it's the sole factor, but in just two years, I've managed to shave off two minutes from my one-mile run, improve my cardiovascular health, drop four sizes, and gain unprecedented confidence. Yes, my dietary choices played a significant role, but OTF Mercer Island has undeniably been a guiding force on my journey.

Making efforts to enhance your health is something you'll never regret. Take a leap and give it a try!

Orangetheory is amazing in general but Mercer Island is by far the best gym. They are organized, clean, friendly and super welcoming to all activity levels. I started there in June thinking I would never exercise again after having a baby and now, in September, I’m training for the Seattle half marathon and feel better in my body than I ever have. It’s such a fun work out that you don’t even notice how hard it is. And so much cheaper than a personal trainer.

Amazing experience! With traditional gyms I always feel isolated and out of place, plus it’s often times hard to stick with a consistent routine if the gym is crowded. My wife and have been going to the MI OTF since they first opened, and we became founding members. I must say I was a little hesitant to join at first as I like working out on my own in a less structured environment. That said however, I’m glad I took the plunge as it has likely become one of the best decisions I have made regarding my health.

Although the workouts are very structured, they can be tailored to meet any fitness level. Looking back, it is amazing to think about how fay my wife and I have progressed.

All the trainers are great, and we particularly enjoy working with Vinney & Haley, and Amy does a great job managing the shop!

Had my first workout this morning and it was so good! Staff were all awesome (shoutout to Jared, coach Vinny, and studio manager Amy who provided some extra support in class to us newbies). Apparently this week is a bit unusual class-structure-wise; regardless, the workout was intense and yet modifiable to every level/need, either to push harder or to listen to your body.

The studio was nice - not huge, everything was organized to be functional, it was clean, and I enjoyed the class playlist a lot.

My favorite quote from the coach was about the importance of “getting comfortable with the discomfort” that comes from pushing yourself. That mentality totally aligns with the fitness success in my past. I’m super excited about going back the next time.

The workout is amazing and the instructors are fabulous! The atmosphere and community is so wonderful and encouraging for all fitness levels. However, I ended up having to cancel my membership when the 8:30pm classes were taken off the schedule. I called to cancel and was told I had to come in person to complete paperwork (and with my schedule this was difficult to do; I had to take unpaid time from work to do so) and then I discovered my membership was not cancelled! My credit card is continuing to be charged even after completing the appropriate paperwork. I also had issues with the OTBeat app and trying to set up my profile. When I inquired at the desk, I was told that only the manager knew how to set up the information to sync the monitor to the app. The employee told me she would leave a message for the manager to call me back. I also emailed to follow up yet never heard from the manager. So I know have been charged an extra $150 even though I've cancelled the class as well as paid $60 for a heart monitor device I cannot use outside of the OTF studio as I was not able to set up the OTBeat app.
Overall, the class and instructors are wonderful but dealing with OTF has been extremely frustrating.

I have a desk job where I sit for 10 hours a day, and have been sedentary for at least a decade (with fits and starts of workouts never lasting more than 1 or 2 times). I started OTF at the end of March right before my 40th birthday upon the encouragement of my totally fit friends. Needless to say, I was completely intimidated to try. I figured I would go once to get them off of my back. I ended up signing up for a membership after the first class. I was blown away by the intensity of the workouts, but most of all, am amazed by the GENUINE support of the coaches and other athletes. My niece was visiting from out of town and my wife and I tagged along to experience Orange Theory for the first time. Now we understand how she got so fit in just a few months. We went back after she left and will be going 3xweek now. Wonderful staff and beautiful exercise setup. Great trainer both times and new & shiny equipment that works perfectly. Would give 10 stars if the scale went that high,

The workout is good, intense and you feel accomplished when you're done. And fundamentally, if that's all they promised then it would be fine. But the place is called Orangetheory because they have a strong philosophy about how your intensity should change through the workout and provide you with extensive stats following. And this is where they have failed me. I've been to 3 classes and each time their heart monitor has failed. Once I wasn't on the board at all, once it looked like my heart rate didn't move for 75% of the class and once it didn't register until about half way through the class. They told me that it was registered incorrectly and next time it would be better. Then they told me that my age was entered incorrectly. Whatever is the excuse, I feel like I'm not getting the benefit of the theory and not able to chart my progress without their heart monitor performing. I will quit my membership if this happens again. Its poor service for a heavily marketed benefit
