I LOVE Orangetheory! I’ve taken classes since 2019 in my hometown studio. When I moved to Seattle, I decided to join again up here. West Seattle studio is the best. The staff is incredible and I love the coaches. Coach Mori and Coach Jess are my usual coaches. They are the best! I love their classes! So if you live in West Seattle and are thinking of joining Orangetheory, do it! So worth it!

Making the most of my class pack package at this location. They have a wide variety of class times and options which make it a more attractive location than some of the OTFs further south.

I worked out here twice while on vacation and found the staff and coaches (Mori and Jess) helpful and engaging. The layout of the space does make it hard to do some of the rower add-on activities I’m used to at my home studio (between row targets, I’m used to getting off to do brief strength or functional exercises) because there just isn’t space next to the rowers. Waiting area is more spacious though and the facility is very clean.

PITA to cancel membership here. Officially cancelled in 2023. Kept billing me until now, despite several attempts from me and my bank to cancel and stop payments. My bank filed a negligence case against this branch today. Huge relief.

My car got broken into in the parking lot. The parking lot appears to be regularly cased, part of my belongings ended up near pioneer Square. Stay safe and park near the whole foods entrance where there's more traffic rather than the stairwell nearest OTF. Or if you're between west Seattle and Mercer Island, just pick Mercer Island. I've been to probably 5+ OTF studios in the 3 years that I've been a member and and this one is fine, not my favorite. Did like how many classes they offered esp the number of strength classes. They let me quit easily enough
Edit: property management not helpful as they did not correctly locate my car within footage despite giving my license and the exact location

After being a Member of OT for 3 months, I decided my membership wasn’t worth it for me anymore. There are definitely pros and cons to having a membership here so I hope this can help you if you are looking into becoming a member.

Pros:

The workouts are always different, they really challenge you, you don’t have to think about what you are going to do because the workout is already made, and they do a really good job at creating a community for people by celebrating birthdays, milestones, etc. I also really loved the people at the front desk and they have some great coaches! My favorite coaches are Mori, Jazel, & Allen☺️

Cons:

It is pricey. I paid $219/month for unlimited (after tax) + the heart rate monitor (over $100). They do offer cheaper packages but the one under elite only comes with 8 workouts a month (2 times a week) for ) $140/month (before tax) which was just not enough classes for me. They also have fun challenges that come with a T Shirt but I noticed that you would have to pay extra to be a part of them which I thought was a little crazy considering the amount you are already spending as an elite member.

For a while I thought it would be worth it because they offer different kinds of classes. Some are strength based, some are tread based, and majority are a mix of rowing, treads, and strength. I was super interested in doing the strength classes but I noticed over time that they only offer the strength at 7:30 AM, 10 AM, 3:30 PM, or 7 PM on certain days of the week. I was able to go to a few morning strength classes for my first week because my job hadn’t started but then it became super limiting because I was never able to make it to the classes I wanted because I was at work. I was able to make it to the 7PM strength classes, but from my experience, the coaches were just not as good. I have experience in lifting and there would be classes where 80 percent of people were doing the exercises wrong and I would be biting my tongue because the coach wouldn’t correct them. This led to classes being ineffective to those people (whether they realize it or not) and could definitely lead to injury. I would also get the vibe in the evening classes that the coaches didn’t want to be there which was always disappointing when you are spending so much.

There are other common complaints I have seen/experienced about OT’s sales tactics, cancellation policy, and difficulties in cancelling memberships, that are cons. I recommend reading the contract fully so you understand what you are signing up for.

Overtime I decided to just go to the 5AM 2G classes because I liked the coaches and the crowd. But for the amount I was spending, the cons started to become more apparent and ultimately made me feel like my membership wasn’t worth it anymore.

Final thoughts:

I wouldn’t not recommend OT because there are a lot of things I like and it is my own schedule/budget that are restricting me. But I can imagine there are a lot of people in my position who work a regular 9-5 who may run into the same problem so I think it is worth noting. I can also not stress enough how much you should read and understand the contract so you understand their policies.

I hope this helps when you are considering a membership here🙂

WARNING: Absolute worst customer service experience from Cole at the front desk. Booked a 4:30pm class and showed up literally at 4:35pm (I screenshot my phone). He told me I was “30 seconds too late”. I looked at the clip board and the class wasn’t even half full. I asked if he was serious? He was. So I canceled my membership. I have been going to this studio for the last 6 months and I have seen many people enter classes much later than I was. The studio is also located in a very congested area with many traffic lights that easily get backed up. I really enjoyed the classes but that behavior is absolutely ridiculous. I could understand if the class was full or I was later than 30 seconds. Neither were the case. Poor choice Cole and OTF.

Response to Owner Response below:
There was no resolution. There is no safety issue, the class was half full I could've hopped on a tread and finished the round. They are saying they are forced to stand behind a stupid OTP corporate policy. Having a 5 minute non-admittance policy during peak traffic times in a city where the traffic is ranked 7TH WORST IN THE NATION (2024) is absolutely absurd. This studio is located in a heavily congested area. If you are coming from the W Seattle bridge you will have to make it through 4 backed up lights after you just fought the bridge. Look at the other reviews, they will continue to lose people until their corporate office adjusts for WA traffic. These are not cheap memberships and require 8 hour notice to cancel a reserved class. Not to mention you may have just fought traffic for 30-40 minutes after a hard day of work only to get there and be sent home. NO THANKS.

I am glad I canceled my membership with this gym. I loved it, it always seemed like a good place to me. I attended the classes at so many places (west Seattle, issaquah, Bellevue, Renton) until I tried the West Seattle gym and the truth is that the ladies at the counter were very inconsiderate.
Trip from Renton to West Seattle to attend a class (about 35 minutes driving) unexpected traffic delayed my arrival. I arrived at 7:36 to a class that started at 7:30 and I was NOT allowed into the gym. It's ridiculous! IM PAYING FOR IT. Even that I tried to explain the situation, I can't do anything about the traffic, and yet they didn't let me enter. HORRIBLE, it had never happened to me. I guess these are your useless politicians. so thank you, I don't plan to lose a single cent more in this gym ✨✨✨

TLDR: Excellent all body workout with good parking and friendly staff.

I’ve been going to Orange Theory in West Seattle for about 7 months now and have done close to 90 classes. The best part, I have had no injuries.

It is a premium product; its classes only, but they have classes at a lot of different times I and I think I’ve only ever seen one class at this location have a weight list.

The front desk staff is incredibly friendly, and as someone rocking a bit of a dad bod, I appreciate that the staff are not all impossibly fit, but are more representative of the variety of body shapes the members come in.

Orange Theory skews female, and this location skews towards the middle aged, but as a guy I’ve never felt particularly uncomfortable about this.

Classes tend to follow this pattern: You get in strength training, treadmill time, and time on the rower, so in an hour you get both cardio and strength training in, though they also have a couple of other workout types.

Most months have a fun optional challenge or activity.

Orange Theory like a lot of exercise programs can have a cult-like attitude towards it, but my experience at the West Seattle location has not been particularly cultish.

Started here for a job and quickly left because the employees there make passive comments about the customers and in their group chats talk about customers. Pertaining to their weight, looks, smartness, and just flat out rude things you don’t say to someone coming in to trust you to help them. Some of the coaches were nice and helpful, as well as some front desk people. But the ones who seemed to be the most involved were the ones who act catty and so unhappy with their life’s that they have to project it on to others. It’s really sad knowing that they promote a healthy and purposeful work out environment and that’s not what it is at all. If some of the customers found out about the comments made on them, they wouldn’t be happy or return. If you are still wanting to try OTF, I would try any other location not this one.

I want to be really clear that it’s not very hard to get a 4-5 star review out of me. Yet this experience at Orange Theory Fitness in West Seattle on Fauntleroy left me feeling manipulated and unwanted. I went in for my first class, and the website specifically says the first class is free. While supporting businesses, I enjoy honesty, clarity, common sense, kindness, and a willingness to collaborate with me as a customer. A genuine happy smile and easy going personality helps too. This person at the front desk, who I later discovered to be the studio manager, was none of those things. She lost a customer as I was prepared to buy a punch pass card that day. To be fair, I’ve heard some of the other coaches there are really great.

After working out here for years I'm going to have to find a new gym. Unless your work schedule is VERY flexible they make it hard to workout during the week. Management decided to remove the only times I can regularly workout and is hostile to requests to bring them back.

They removed a really popular workout time. When I inquired about bringing it back the studio manager decided to gaslight me rather than take my concerns seriously. After many years of working out here, I am sad to say I can no longer recommend this studio to anyone.

I love OT West Seattle: Why? A lot of different slots, mix of 90mn and 60mn, Lift 45 (once a day is great), Instructors are great, Flexibility for freeze, If possible they ask our preference to start rower / floor / tread which I love, they try to leave a space between people if number of people allows, lot of challenges Cons (but does not change my rate): not sure if I like to pay for challenges, as the membership is pretty high and don't care about Tshirts, membership is high compared to other gyms/activities, some coaches does not correct postures.

Before joining, I didn't like the daily calls to get me signed up. I hadn't filled out any paperwork at the time and never agreed to being called, so was disappointed to receive so many calls. I knew I wanted to sign up so did an intro class. I enjoyed the coaches and the class itself and explained how many days I wanted to work out with staff. They described only an unlimited package that would work for me so I signed up. Staff told me there was a promotion but that I'd have to buy the heart rate band. Not liking being upsold, I passed because she said I wouldn't need it for class. The next day I came in and they told me I had to rent the band, which was not disclosed to me since staff made it sound like it was included the day before. Staff explained I did not need it, but tracking your progress is the heart of your workout class so it seems amiss to not bring up that I'd need to rent the band or purchase it firsthand; cost on top of an already big financial commitment. I cancelled my subscription, because they said I'd need to cancel anyways to resubscribe to get the promotion with the band. What I was told was a $40 band originally was now over $100. I didn't like that I went through a full membership process to then be told about the class packages. I feel the constant communication that happened to then not be told about major functions of how the gym operates is disappointing. Too bad because the coaches and classes were great.

A key thing that would have helped would be to have a longer trial incentive. To offer 1 free class to then sign up for a big financial commitment is not enough, I feel a cheaper longer trial option would have helped clear up a lot of the miscommunication because I could have learned these things as I go, even if staff wasn't clear. Another thing that would be helpful would be to have 2 coaches, one as a basic guide and another to help with weights and working through moves. Orange Theory markets themselves as one-on-one coaching so it was disappointing if I wasn't on the set with the coach during their workout, I was on the other set of workouts I was looking at a screen for coaching.

Avoid this location!! I wanted to try out orange theory and sign up for a membership. 35 mins before the first class I get a call asking if I can get there in 5 mins, I told them no but I will try to get there as early as possible, they said ok and hung up. I arrived 5 mins before the class started after sitting in traffic and they refused to let me take the class. The staff was rude, abrasive and unwilling to work with me at all, insisting that my only option was to reschedule. The reasoning behind this being they would not be able to show me around the gym and how to use the equipment. I’m very familiar with treadmills and rowers and don’t need a tutorial. Needless to say I will NOT be returning to this location. Do yourself a favor and do the same

As a founding Member, 67-year-old athletic female with numerous musculoskeletal injuries in my years of competition, I joined West Seattle OTF at the direction of my physical therapist. I adore the SAs, Studio Manager and all of the coaches for their professional, friendly and personalized-modified workouts to fit my needs. The community of members is inspiring, supportive and fun to join at every class. I mentioned to Studio Manager, Risa Foster, that when I have a tough or stressful day, I can come to class, focus on the workout, hear the music, and my mind never leaves the studio for an entire hour. It's like OTF meditation that melts my stress away while yielding a stronger, healthier me.

I’ve been working out consistently for 20 years, and I was seriously tired of thinking about what workout to do each time I went tot he gym. I love that Orangetheory workouts vary every day. I don’t have to “think about” what I want to do, I just show up and do what I’m told. :)In the 10 months since I’ve joined, I’ve seen major changes in my arms and shoulders - I loved wearing sleeveless tops this summer!Plus, I have a chronic knee issue that has been helped tremendously by the strength and stability workouts targeting the legs. And, the fact that I can opt for a bike instead of the treadmill helps keep my knee flexible - without the high impact of running. Finally... I love that the workouts are tailored to all fitness levels. Everyone works at their own level and the positive, supportive atmosphere makes everyone feel accomplished and included. ❤️

I like that it is fast paced, that it's guided, that every coach emphasizes a "you vs you" mentality and that you're not competing against anyone else. I like that there's a coach who not only corrects me to make sure I'm safe and effective in my workout, but also tells me when I'm doing well. And I especially love that everyone is so friendly at my gym (West Seattle) that we do actually high five and encourage each other, sometimes going so far as to dance party on the treadmills. The music can be kind of jarring or make it hard to follow a quieter coach, but that's literally my only complaint.

I love that it is a workout that all level of fitness can participate in the same class. All the coaches are amazing ... my personal favorite it Risa. I also appreciate the staff and managers at OT West Seattle - always ready to help and super friendly - great customer service.

I’m new to West Seattle and the Orangetheory team has made me feel right at home. Alex at the front desk is amazing and super helpful. All of the trainers are great, you get a good workout in and the music keeps you going.

My free intro session was 4 days ago and I'm still sore. I was probably the fattest/most out of shape one there and nobody made me feel unwelcome. Unfortunately the heart rate monitor ( chest type ) they're gave me didnt work right so they let me have another free intro class to try the arm heart monitor which I'll be doing tomorrow. 😁👍

I LOVE orange theory! The community is so amazing, and makes working out so much fun. I push myself so much harder in a class than on my own, and I love the combination of running and weight lifting in the classes. I also love that they're hard!!

I like Orange Theory in general but this particular location is not my favorite. First off, the reception team are not that helpful at explaining price breakdowns and policies. One person told me I would always be able to schedule a month in advance, only to learn this was incorrect and they have some weird policy that only allows you to book up to your billdate. Oh and get this, I call to figure out the issue and I am told by a receptionist the reason for this policy is because the single mom who cannot afford to pay in advance will have a fair shot at getting into classes. And just so you know, if you do book a 10 package of classes, you have no scheduling limitations at all, so unless that single mom was paying per class every time, she would actually have a scheduling advantage to me. This location is always busy at peak hours, you can almost never get into classes without scheduling far enough in advance. Now people usually cancel the day before and sometimes you get in from the wait list but who wants to not know their schedule until the day of. I have been turned away from the wait list before too, even after being told by the reception team that they have never turned any wait listed people away before, guess it was just my unlucky day. Also, you have to join the class 5 minutes late if you are on the wait list too. I also asked the front desk people if they could schedule some classes past my bill date for me and was told it was against policy. Yesterday, I overheard a lady scheduling her classes out with the front desk staff without issues so I guess it must depend on if they like you or not. Luckily for me, I work in Bellevue so I just switched my home gym. The staff there are way friendlier and helpful and the classes are way easier to get into.

I thought I would also give a quick review of the trainers. Most of them are pretty helpful and flexible if you alter the workout slightly to fit your own routine. I really like Emily, she is probably my favorite there. Sean is my least favorite, he kept coming over during my routine to tell me i needed to do it his way. I figured he would get the hint after i just didn't follow his instructions, but no he really didn't. I wasn't being unsafe or anything. I finally confronted him during class after his 3rd attempt to intervene, i have avoided his classes ever since. I really hate that sometimes they switch instructors last minute too, i should have the right to late cancel if they do that and i dont like the instructor. Of course, I would never try to actually bring that up to a front desk person..lol.

Excellent, motivating and knowledageable coaches. A fun, supportive environment consisting of people from all different fitness levels and ages - everyone is welcomed and celebrated, no matter what the personal fitness journey. A very clean studio with friendly and helpful front office personnel. Life is busy. What matters the most to me is my ROI for the time spent exercising: I want a lot of bank for my buck and truly get it at Orange Theory! It is a very effective workout and always different, which keeps my muscles challenged and my mind entertained. I have never been a runner and now love the time spent on treadmill gaining those valuable Splat points to help continue burning calories 36 hrs post-workout. I am a fan of the water rower which challenges a different set of muscles and provides yet another interesting element to the workout. I absolutely love the OTbeat App which tracks my exercise results and provides a performance summary both in the app and via email (of Splat points i.e. time spent in orange zone, calories burnt, heart rate and average heart rate, duration of session), it is very motivating. Another plus is that you can wear the OT heart rate monitor and track your exercise sessions anywhere, not just at Orange Theory. Easy to sign up for classes via the App for the full month ahead (as a member). Any waiting lists typically clear the night before, I've never had trouble getting into classes I want. I am super happy about the results gained since I joined six months ago: Measureable results gained in the improved health of my heart, inches and weight lost, and energy and happiness gained.

I enjoy the workouts and the energy here but I am subtracting one star because it is almost impossible to get into a morning weekend class. Week after week both days of the weekend are fully booked at this location.

Don't expect a lot of individualized attention. You will only receive basic rowing instructions and no one is going to tell you how to run. I injured myself rowing with not great form but the coaches aren't as always able to see it and provide correction. The coaches are busy keeping 2 groups on a tight schedule.

The consistency and quality of the Orange Theory work out fits my lifestyle like no other plan I have ever tried. I have had more success sticking to health and fitness since I joined OTF than any previous time in my life. The coaches know me by name and are always quick to respond if I reach out with a question. I have made new friends, become more confidant and now have to courage and potential to complete the marathon I signed up for to mark one year at OTF West Seattle.

Great workouts and coaches. I feel like I don’t have to think about my workout when I go to the gym. Every workout at OTF is different. The OT Beat is a cool feature and nice to see your heart rate during your workout. Highly recommend!

I love Orange Theory! I like that the coaches tell me what to do and I can pick the level of intensity that fits my fitness level. The modifications help a lot and being able to see my heart rate accelerate and decelerate is a pretty great motivator.

I like that it’s structured, with regular gyms I would go, look around and not know what I should do, so I would get on the bike or treadmill and then get bored and leave.

I was treated horribly at this studio! I was experiencing racism by the front desk people. When I complain to the manager I was told my “ membership will be terminated immediately” and I was never refunded my fees. I’m now in the process of taking them to small claims court. This place made me feel like I was less of a person because I’m not white.

I love OTF classes, and i wouldn’t say I have a history of “loving” physical fitness or gym related activities. It creates a very hard and rewarding work out but breaks it up so that I am not necessarily counting the minutes (sometimes I am) because they are short and impactful, pushing me to new limits but also allowing me to moderate when I am not quite ready for full throttle. My endurance and strength over the past 4 months has been so noticeable to both myself and my friends. I moved from jogger to runner and if you would have told me that 6 months ago I would have laughed at you. i love all the results I am seeing both physically and mentally as a result of being a part of orange theory! Not to mention that I really enjoy and appreciate all the coaches that the West Seattle location offers. The one person that I didn’t feel was that awesome is no longer there- so I don’t worry about who the trainer is because I like them all:)

I love these workouts, and the staff and the coaches are even better. Studio Manager Hillary and her team always take care of me. They are super helpful if I have any question with scheduling, exercises, etc.
All the classes are busy so even though I have to be wait listed occasionally, I really appreciate the community and the energy. I have background in weightlifting, and was actually a little skeptical at first, but I get one heck of a work out and great results. Love this place.

Fab workout, no matter your fitness level! I've never had a problem getting into classes, and tend to go 4-5 times a week. Early AMs are easiest to get into, evening rush can be busier. I've only been in one full class since this location opened in June 2018, and if I arrive 15 min before class starts, I generally have my pick of any station in the room! (we all have favorites, right??)

The coaches at this location are among the best - high energy, detailed instructions, quick corrections to form on the weight floor, and a few that have a hawk-eye if it looks like the routine is too easy for you. I love the challenges, love the community, and love the layout of West Seattle's OTF. It's definitely one of the best!

This is my first review of anything...ever (i.e. I like to think I'm not a complainer!). Let me clarify my two stars. The workout itself is fantastic, worth 5 stars. I've had a few classes here when it first opened up, and the trainers are all energetic, positive, show you correct form, all that good stuff. It's great for all ages, genders, shapes sizes. HOWEVER...I give the availability/accessibility/convenience, whatever you want to call it, a big fat zero stars. Once word got out about this place, memberships sold like wildfire. For those unfamiliar with OTF, there are a select number of spaces available for each class. These spaces may be reserved ahead of time, which is a problem if you have an erratic schedule and cannot plan your workouts. However, even if you are someone who can plan your workouts ahead of time, you may be out of luck because those before you can set up a recurring schedule, thus not giving you the opportunity to schedule. For example, I'm typing this email on a Sunday evening while scoping out the potential classes I can take the following week. There is literally not ONE available class that I can take. There are a select few at 4:45 in the morning (no thanks) that I can get waitlisted for, but that's about it. Bottom line, good luck working out here when you actually want to (but an excellent workout if you do get in!).
