I've had similar experiences with previous reviews. The programs are great, coach Morgan is great. Other than that all negative. The management and policies are greedy and stingy. The indoor spaces are very cramped and charge extra for everything, including registration, parking memberships, and heart rate monitors. They are also very strict about late arrivals and pre-booking, making it easy to lose track of your workouts. Even there is space available they wonβt let you in. (Although I saw exceptions given to a couple of white men). Overall, the $154 monthly fee is a waste.

Friendly staff, clean!, great variety of music, professional and knowledgeable coaches, (only downside is finding parking in the neighborhood or across the street at Safeway)

Iβve been an OTF member for nearly three months, attending 3β4 classes per week and enjoying both the workouts and most coaches. However, my experience with Coach Coree was disappointing. I arrived just 10β15 seconds past the 5-minute cutoff, my first time being late, and explained my situation, yet still denied entry.
I respect policy, but this rigid, zero-flexibility approach felt unreasonable and unprofessional. It was a frustrating and avoidable situation that left a negative impression. I hope OTF trains coaches to apply rules with better judgment and respect.

Trainers are super friendly and welcoming! Great workout and thats coming from a regular 4-5x a week runner/boxer. For people like me that appreciate the data, it's fantastic highly recommend giving it a try!

Celebrating my 500th class at Orangetheory Fitness feels like the perfect moment to finally write this review! Iβve been recommending this location to friends for years, and I can honestly say itβs been a game-changer for me.
The front desk staff is always friendly and welcoming, creating such a positive vibe from the moment you walk in. I love how easy they make it to show upβno planning or personal motivation required. Just show up, and before you know it, youβre warming up and working hard.
The trainers are incredibly knowledgeable and always make sure you have the correct form in the most supportive way. They are good people who make the workout fun and rewarding. Orangetheory has been a huge part of my fitness journey, and I canβt recommend it enough!

I walked in. Signed up. 150 classes later Iβve lost 20lbs and am down 7% body fat, not to mention Iβm feeling more confident, more disciplined and Iβm in generally elevated more spirits. Also met some supportive and awesome people here.
Is it worth it? Indeed it is β
I want to give a special shoutout to Morgan! She is a truly an INCREDIBLE coach! Super thoughtful, extremely aware of everyone who sheβs teaching and when to jump in, highly encouraging, and not to mention super kind!!!

University district studio has been the best for our whole family. The friends ( which include the amazing staff whom we love and respect ) helped our family not only in our exercise routine but also during stressful times when we needed friends and positive encouragement. We are supported by cheerful motivating smiles and notes that demonstrate overall best people in the world. We need people and routines with this set of life skills and philosophies and work ethic to inspire us. Thank you!

This orange theory studio does not honor the free 1st class as advertised. You must reside within a 5-mile radius to qualify for the free 1st class.
I communicated to staff my best friend lives nearby, and Iβm in the area 3x a week. Also, that I could change my address online. The representative I spoke to even put me on hold to speak to her manager, and the manager declined to make an exception.
The staff communicated that I would have to be charged for the 1st class, and if I book again the initial charge will be refunded.
The staff communicated that I could not change my address as well because that is the address that would be in their computer system. Unknown if this is an actual policy and procedure?
I guess this studio doesnβt want your business?
My friend also communicated that being within a 5-mile radius of a studio in order to qualify for the 1st free class is a new policy (if it is even a policy at all, and not some arbitrary rule made by this specific studio).
Even if the studio called me and rescinded their previous statement, I would not feel comfortable in their inhospitable environment. I will be contacting Orange theory headquarters as well.
They donβt deserve your business, and the staff and manager are not accommodating, or possess warm customer service. They donβt deserve your patronage, and you should go to another orange theory studio.
I pay for an unlimited Pilates membership monthly and this studio just lost a potential long-term client.

Have visited here multiple times while in Seattle. I really liked my workout with Coree today. Itβs hard to find a trainer that will interact and coach you through your workout when youβre just traveling through and not a member of a certain location and she was great at coaching and fixing my form. Will always stop here when in the area! Front desk was friendly and helpful too. Parking is a bit of a pain, but when in Seattle!

OTF workouts are the best! Iβm one of those people who needs variety in their workout, so the combination of treadmill, rower, and floor work is great for me. The workout changes every day so I never get bored when I go to class. In fact, I end up challenging myself in every class, even if I didnβt intend to. Highly recommend!!

Each workout holds a new challenge for my whole body. I love that I can track my heartrate so I can track my endurance level and not burn out. The coaches are amazingly upbeat, clear and full of great knowledge. I'm a stronger person and able to show up for my kids and myself with more energy and strength thanks to OTF!

It saddens me to see how this studio has changed over the last 6 months. As other reviewers have mentioned, they nickel and dime wherever they can. 5 minutes late to a class? You're charged the full fee plus "out of network studio surcharge". Accidentally sign up for the wrong studio? Well, you're out of luck there too. Need to change to a later class the same day? No longer possible. The reason I have been so loyal to OTF over the years is not only their incredible workouts but accommodating studios, fortunately U-District isn't my home studio otherwise I would likely cancel my membership.
Instructors are hit or miss, as with any OTF studio.
Competing workout studios do not have these draconian policies and they will only succeed in alienating your core customer base.

Iβm quite disappointed with their policies when it comes to injuries and cancellations. I was injured during my workout at Orangetheory and I am now going to physical therapy. I would go back after addressing my injuring as I understand these things happen but I will not be buying a membership, perhaps just paying a class at a time.
I was told to freeze my account after I wanted to cancel the first time but wasnβt told that a cancellation would take 30 days to take into effect. So now that my account is unfrozen I have been told that I was charged the next month and that my cancellation wouldnβt process until January. I will have payed two full months by then. Additionally, I cannot downgrade because a downgrade would not allow me to cancel my membership for another 2 months. All of which I need to do because I cannot attend classes due to my injuries. If I had to recommend to friends I would say not to ever buy the membership. To pay for each class if they wanted to add orange theory into their workout schedule.

Great spot, coaches are full of energy, even in the morning! And a killer cardio workout with some strength mixed in!
Had to take away a star because of our experiences with the heart rate monitor. It works for most people, most body types, most skin compositions, etc, but it didn't work for my wife. The staff did a good job (at first) of trying to help. Try a different tightness, different arm, find a vain, etc. But that was still yielding mediocre results (like half the class it would seem like it's working, but half the class it would not be reading any heartbeats. The staff seemed to get more and more frustrated with us continuing to ask for help and "complaining" about it not working. When my wife finally tried to return it and asked for a refund, they said "no, we can't, it's used." with the heart rate and zones and colors being such a big part of the "product" it seems like good customer service to me to give a refund for that type of thing. I feel like they could still use it for rentals? Loaners? Backups? Etc.

On top of and already expensive membership they have a fee for everything. Terrible customer service. βWe are holding members accountable by charging fees.β Please! Youβre making money any chance you can by nickel and diming your customers. This program isnβt really anything other gyms arenβt already doing. At least other gyms donβt turn you away for any already paid for class for being 5 minutes late. Then charge you for an extra month when you cancel your membership.

I have been working out at Orangetheory's around the country and the instructor Jay here is one of the best I've ever encountered. Love this studio! The trainers at the UDistrict location are great--they get to know members personally, and help them adapt the daily workouts to fit their goals and needs. This place feels like a true family! I appreciate that the team here keeps the classes structured and under control, but know when and where to let members make adjustments, when to challenge people, and when to help them back off - it's a perfect balance.
OTF itself is a really solid workout--the variety within and between each class keeps things interesting and engaging, and the blend of strength and cardio is effective for building strength and endurance over time. Every month, there's at least one benchmark workout or challenge so you can track improvement in different vectors (e.g. speed, distance). Unlike Barry's or other HIIT/bootcamp style gyms, Orangetheory consistently feels safer, with options for moves that might be too advanced for novices, and there's more attention and correction from coaches. There's still enough challenge for serious athletes, though, between the different stations and the rangae of exercises that blend traditional strength training with mobility/stability work and plyo.

Iβve only been going to otf at this location for a few months, but prior to this I went to a different location for a year and a half, and never have I felt so much confidence in class. Iβve had good coaches in the past, but Jay and Kristana are above and beyond. They push me to always do my best because they know Iβm capable of more even when I donβt think I am.
They both explain everything so well, are both so kind, and itβs also wonderful that they both play such amazing music!!
Iβm so thankful for both of them, for the confidence Iβve gained, because the confidence has helped me become stronger and Iβve also lost 22lbs since I started coming in and am overall just feeling so much better which is a huge deal, and means everything when I am juggling an autoimmune disorder thatβs very unpredictable.
And besides all that, this location is great, the front desk staff is amazing and so helpful, and everything is always cleaned and well-stocked (lookin at you hairties π)!

Great Overall! Pros/Cons...
What I *liked* about OTF: *Jeff, the trainers and all of the staff at the U/Wedgwood facility are great, top notch! *The design of the OTF classes and the overall program is fantastic - row/run/lift for an hour, intervals, change it up each time, etc.
What I think could be *improved* about OTF: *Too expensive! I may have continued with the Unlimited subscription year round, even though I do a ton of cycling March thru October each year, for $99/month (total including all taxes and fees). $175/month is just way too steep for my budget and well beyond what I feel it is worth to maintain year round. *Difficult and time-consuming to get into the classes you want. Takes a lot of time, almost daily if you're looking to do 4-6 classes per week, scheduling in the app and going weeks out to reserve class times and still it was tough and I ended up on wait lists a lot. Something should be done about that (imho) to make OTF as an overall program/product truly the very BEST relative to the many other fitness options available! Also, it made me wonder if individual clubs may be allowing too many subscribers relative to what their facility can reasonably accommodate for basic availability and scheduling.

There's so much I love about the workout! I enjoy not knowing what the workout is going to be that day because I won't get bored when I'm kept on my toes. I also love the variety of equipment we use from the tread, weights and rowing. Trainers are great. Facilities are clean, and the workouts are pretty fun. Two problems though. First, they offer very limited set of classes especially on weekends, nothing in the afternoons despite immense demand. I often find myself not being able to use the credits I subscribe to, which is not fair. They should either put more classes or stop ability to sign in for recurring classes. Second, sometimes the music too loud - I wonder if there isn't any government regulation on this as the volume is deafening sometimes. I bet that is not healthy for your ears.
