Interesting experience at this planet. It’s not the worst but definitely not the best. As far as affordable/quality gyms go in Kent/Cov/MV, it’s probably one of the better options, but again, still not the best it could be. Facility definitely shows signs of fatigue, certain machines have been broken for an almost humorous amount of time, broken before I even started coming here. Now it seems they’ve just become decorations to add the ambience. Locker rooms are fine though.

There’s such a fun variety of people here too because of the lack of quality/affordable gym options in the area. You get everything from the 16 year old gym bros high on pre workout crowding the smith machines, to suburban moms, to the occasional competitve powerlifter. There’s one guy regularly coming in and benching over 400. Definitely keeps things interesting.

Overall, I don’t hate it enough to leave, but if there were better options in our area I probably wouldn’t stay. Management needs to get on the broken equipment so reviews don’t keep going down. I’m usually there early mornings and the morning staff are super friendly.

Initially I gave this place a 5 Star but a bunch of the equipment has broke since and has stayed broken for months. There’s not a ton of equipment to begin with so each thing that break is pretty vital to the whole system.Staff seems just as frustrated and have no idea when it might get addressed.
Paper towels for wiping down equipment are always empty too, so you have to constantly go on an adventure to find one that isn’t out.

2 Cable towers broken for a month and yet there is no fix. People are waiting 30mins to do tricep pushdown and cable fly and any other cable exercises.

There is only one pec dec fly machine which is always crowded and hard to get hand on.
There is no high row and low row machine for back. No incline plate loaded chest press machine.

Things were better under previous manager Brandon and trainer.

Editing my review from 5 stars to 1 due to recent management handling of a billing issue.
Nothing ever gets fixed at this gym. The safety pin on the far left Smith machine has been broken for 9 months, a $5 part maybe and allows the bar to spin 360 degrees, 9 months....
The leg extension, broken for 4 months, even a paper towel dispenser by the yellow floor, broken for 3 months. Now one of the 4 cables is broken. Between this and the new management I'm trying out another gym. Though I admit I do really like the staff and gym members.

Pretty nice location I’ve been to locations all across the country and this one I would give about a B. Not the newest machines, but that’s the oldest. I did have a pretty frustrating experience today in the men’s locker room. One of the showers was out of service a technician came and shut down all the showers for maintenance at 8 o’clock in the morning. That’s pretty much when everybody’s at the gym. I had to towel off my sweat and get dressed for work as best as I could. I don’t know why they didn’t work on them at two in the afternoon

I love in Federal way and there is one planet fitness near by place. However, I switched location to here because very friendly staff (Owen). Great atmosphere and friendly staff. They've recently integrated new equipment which I absolutely love. The club is nice and clean (people actually wipe down equipment, unlike other clubs) and it's not crazily packed.The only thing I find a little cringe is the tanning bed room floors/rugs need to be vacuumed more regularly. I left planet fitness because I got a job that came with gym access. Recently left that job and came back to planet fitness only to find out that its not longer 24/hr A N Y days? Huge disappointment.

** Yeah, no, I should have known better. Planet fitness is a scam and a P.O.S. gym. No personal hate to the owner, outside of deciding to run a PF, as all PF basically run under the same guidelines. I got charged an annual fee before my "supposed" annual fee date and cannot be refunded. Employee said it gets charged the second month after sign-up, I didn't sign up until October, following that logic I shouldn't have been charged until Dec. Not to mention you cannot find your "annual" fee date anywhere in the app- at least no place honest and easy to navigate so you are aware of what you are paying for. Now paying over 60 dollars this month for a gym that can't even meet my bare minimum needs. Their cancellation policy is awful, and overall is a sub-par gym. Never again.

Auburn gym is usually very quiet, lots of open machines, they have self locking lockers (I always forget my lock and this has been extremely helpful), and very clean locker rooms - every time I've walked in one it's spotless. Well, I joined when it was just opened. It was 24 hours then. I needed to go early due to work (4-5 am). And it was cheap at only ~$10/mo. A couple years later they cut to 5-am - 10pm weekdays and 7am-7pm on the weekends! And recently got rid of the soap dispensers in the showers. Finally raising it to $15/mo. I was a 5 year member spanning multiple planet fitness locations. As of today Manager Renee has decided she wants to enforce a "closed toed shoe policy" that has never been an issue for the 5 years I've been going. I was wearing Crocs and was told I would not be allowed to workout. If you don't want to have to worry about the shoes you are wearing don't waste your time. This location is also much busier than any other location I've been to and you will struggle to find open equipment. The men's locker room smells disgusting and the paper towel dispensers are never stocked.

They instituted a new policy where they require a credit card on file as well as your bank account information! I provided my bank account when I joined, but now having to also add my credit card information is highly unusual and a very shady business practice. I can't think of another company which requires information from two accounts. This is obviously a privacy and identity theft concern. This policy is not on the corporate website (only bank info is required) so I am wondering what exactly they are doing with this information? Because I wouldn't comply, they said they would refuse to let me enter. Therefore they gave me no choice but to cancel my membership. Please do not do business with this unethical franchise.

New information: Their response below doesn't discuss the issue! I have no problem with providing my checking account info. I have been doing this for 2 years. The problem is now they also want credit card information AND bank account information This is contradictory than what is on the corp website and I can't think of another company that does this. This is the only one where you have to wait in line to check in.
It seems like every time I need to check in, the front desk is helping someone else sign up, or buy something. As they should.

There was a vandalism incident that happened last Friday on 8/25 and no one seem to be bothered about that. Someone entered the unit and tried to break the lock in mens locker room. The lock was of good quality and was badly damaged but the guy could not break the lock. I asked and followed the front desk if any progress is being made and they keep saying we have informed our managers and nothing else. I would like you guys to follow up and find out who this was and stop these incidents from happening in future. I would have lost all my identity and credit cards if guy was successful in breaking the lock. I do have the short video clip of the guy who tried to break in that was sent by some other patron.

Been trying to reach the manager for days regarding a suspicious over charge on my account. Keep getting the run around from front desk employees that say to call back at a later time or they take a message for the manager with no call back. Called again today and the same gal asked what its regarding, she can take a message and that the manager is too busy to take the call when I had already spoke with the girl twice!

Long story short - unprofessional and poor customer service.
Overcharged on monthly bill and cant get ahold of anyone to fix the issue.

Update: Manager finally called me back. However it took 5 days to get ahold of him and mentioned this is the first time hes hearing of this, kept cutting me off when I said I spoke to many staff members and each one said they'd pass the message along. He said he would refund me for the charge but never did. A week passed and Had to dispute the charge with my bank and the bank reimbursed me since Planet fitness did not follow through with what they said.

Worked out at just about every gym in the area and I'm a former longtime personal trainer. Planet Fitness in Covington is one of the top gyms I've ever belonged to. Prepaid an 18mo. membership for my 16yo son and I in April. 2 months later my son had trouble checking himself in and the front desk said he wasn't in the system. I explained he had a prepaid membership and they let him in as a guest. I spoke to the manager (I believe his name is Chris)and he explained they discontinued the 18mo.prepaid membership offer. My significant other and I joined on referral. Previously we used 24 hours, but we’re newer to the area and the Kent location would have been an additional 20 minutes of driving each way. We decided to give planet fitness a go. A few weeks in we decided to see a personal trainer multiple times a week at their own personal gym (not affiliated with Planet Fitness) and bumped our account down from the higher tier to the basic tier plan. Doing so was painful. The manager assisting us was in an awful mood, we almost canceled outright and regret not doing so, he made us feel so unwelcome. I believe his name was Chris. We were then overcharged the next month and ended up leaving for 24 hour fitness either way. At least canceling was less of a hassle.

This place is run well, and at $10/month membership (granted annual and sign up fees add up), they offer a lot.
They did me solid when I accidentally left my iPad there and another member turned it in to Lost and Found + they recently had improved the wifi, which is 💯 considering my cellular (ATT) doesn’t work around the facility.

It is such a pain to make any account changes. You have to close your account where you opened it. Good luck if you move to another state.

This gym is great and I need to comment about a girl who works at the front desk. She is completely friendly, receptive, always smiles when we are walking in. Equipments are good overall as well.

I had an enjoyable experience at Planet Fitness, the staff was friendly and helpful. Machines were clean and working well. And the clientele seemed nice and I had zero issues dealing with other people from the area.

Manager seems to dislike answering questions about the tanning equipment, and tanning lotions. Scoffed and said "He doesn't need to tan" sets a bad example for the staff who should know things even if they don't personally use them. For good customer service, ya know?

Clean equipment. Good vibes great place to be. My only complaint is that the manager who works in the morning isn't exactly the best at customer service. He doesn't really greet me or any guest when we walk in and always seems to not want to be there and dosnt do much aside from checking guests in. I stood at the front waiting for a massage chair to be issued for about 10 minutes while he stood there on his personal cell phone before I left. But on a positive side of things the staff at night is amazing. Always friendly welcoming and just great people.they are always making sure the spray bottles and paper towels are stocked and the gym is clean and truly a judgement free zone. Caren and Alex are the real MVPs.

Scary: they don't care about state issued ID, as long you provide cell phone info and email. Anyone can use a burner or fake email. Enter a gym, and steal things.

Walked in today, for a tour, thinking about joining. Said hello , made friendly smalltalk about how the gym is a year old. Pulled out my wallet and removed my driver's license and said I would like a tour of the gym. Stiffler lookalike tells me I have to use my phone and give them a phone number and an email. I didn't bring in my phone because I was wearing gym shorts and my phone was in my truck.... No biggy.

But here's the deal. There is no chance, I am ever giving someone my phone and email, before I get to look at a gym and walk into the locker room.

I looked at the employee, with my drivers license in hand, a WA in State license... And I said, I get too much spam and I can't give you contact info before I see the gym . He turned and deferred to some frodo baggins looking manager, who lifted a plastic display card from the counter and repeated .....have to use the qr code with my phone. And give an email and phone number. I told them no way. They insisted. And were snooty. And I said, if youre gonna behave like this, I'll never step in another fitness again in my life.

And I walked out.

Im fairly confident they have no braincells from the hairspray stench that permeates the gym. I'm glad I didn't smell how bad it must be in the locker rooms. No scent is better than chemical Armageddon.

I have had a few gym memberships in my life, and they never steal my contact info before I get to see the gym. This policy was created by their web developer who wants to optimize the website with qr hits.

Also, they were literally saying that , "all these other people give us their contact info".... As if I was a jerk for not giving two pieces of vital info that compromise my digital security and subject me to spam. If everyone jumps off a cliff, at least hopefully planet fitness patrons will all be found in a pile at the bottom and won't collapse the free market with their stupid behavior.

Signing up here was the worst mistake I've ever done . I've been charged 35 bucks a month for 5 years which is 2100 bucks and I've been desperately trying to get them to cancel it. I was told for the first 4 years the only way to cancel was to come in . I told them I'm in the military and we move around alot so coming in wasn't going to be an option . I didn't find out until today you can just mail a letter to them . But in extreme cases why cant I take a picture of my letter and email it in or any other way of getting this done . I really hope someone here has a heart and can reach out to me to solve this so I can delete this review and move on , I've never been finically crippled from a gym before ..
