I get the sense there's not a lot of money in the repair budget. Leaky pipes over the men's locker room were dripping into trash cans for weeks and now a couple months later nothing has been done to repair the water damaged lockers and ceiling. The locker room is also not cleaned well enough, there's often bits of trash and most surfaces look pretty grimy.
On the other hand, most of the machines are working most of the time, staff seem nice enough, and let's be real it's a $15 gym membership it's not like your expectations should be through the roof. 3/5 stars.

This location, is a bit smaller, similar to most urban counterparts, and felt bright, organized, and very clean. A major plus is that it's open 24/7. Fernie at the front desk was notably nice and helpful.
The Black Card club amenities are good, featuring the usual tanning, red light, massage, hydro, and chairs, plus a Hybrid unit (tan/red light) that I haven't seen outside of California—a feature I enjoy.
Parking is available: I parked for free in the attached garage early on a Saturday morning (look for the designated retail section).
My only suggestions would be to introduce some free weights like Hammer strength equipment (beyond just the machines and Smith machines) and, ideally, for all locations to add standalone barbells, squat racks, and sleds in the future.

Edit 2: there’s been zero response from planet fitness other than to “talk to the manager,” who was responsible for this whole thing. Clearly no one is held accountable and clearly the whole “please reach out to us!” Under the reviews is entirely for show.
Edit: after writing this review I was approached *very* aggressively by the manager at the front, who took big steps towards me while yelling kinda loudly “how are you doing?! Havent seen you since the incident.” It was clear she was trying to scare me and make me leave,
and the two younger males at the desk with her sneered on. I felt uncomfortable so I left after five or so mins. Abhorrent behavior, never been through anything like this with a manager. How dare you aggressively approach a patron who shared their honest experience. You don’t know me. Be a professional. I will not be intimidated out of going to the gym.
This is a difficult review to write. I PASSED OUT in the locker room of this gym. I remember everything. I passed out AND LANDED ON THE BACK OF MY HEAD once and woke up with two employees and another bystander standing around me. I was barely conscious. The employees tried *getting me up* which promptly resulted in me passing out again and hitting my head flat on the ground a *second* time. The second time I awoke the paramedics were there.
This was a very, very serious head injury and my most significant iniuey I’ve ever had. I was afraid for my life and worried about permanent brain damage. I wasn’t able to workout for many weeks afterward. I had an ENORMOUS bump on the back of my head, as large as a man’s fist, for a long time. The pain lasted weeks. I was seriously concussed and unable to exercise for a few months. I can not overstate how serious this injury was. The second fall could have cost me my life.
Of course the initial reason for my passing out wasn’t the fault of the gym, but it was incredibly foolish of the employees to try to get me up a second time resulting in a second injury. What’s more, when I tried talking to the employee about it the next day (she says she was a manager), she *argued* with me repeatedly that I only fell once, because “she was there when it happened.” She lied repeatedly that she saw the whole thing. Only a patron bystander was in the locker room when it initially happened, but she argued against me that my reality was wrong, and rather rudely. she was only there for my second fall, the one in which her and another person foolishly tried getting me to stand up way too soon after a serious head injury. The lady argued with me like her life depended on it, and tried to gaslit me into thinking I only fell once and she saw the entire thing.
That didn’t make any sense, and it was clear she was trying to cover her butt. I’m not an idiot, I remember falling back both times and the second time was due to their lack of training. If someone hits their head don’t try getting them up immediately. I only would’ve gotten injured once if they had acted with any level of medical awareness. The response from the manager was the most upsetting.

Negative posts about the cleanliness of this club are responded to by saying contact management??
1. Management should be reading the reviews.
2. If management is not reading the reviews, maybe the Google responder should tell management to read the reviews, not tell disgruntled customers to send a copy of their review to an email or contact management.

Wrote 2 messages to the "Contact Us" section on their site. No response and no change so perhaps a review will better catch their attention. This is in regards to a continuous UNPROFESSIONAL employee. Continuous! It's the bald employee who works in the very very early morning hours. Today he was laying in the massage chair in his uniform shirt talking LOUDLY to a friend. Didn't enjoy my massage as I had to listen to all this. I am guessing this is not allowed but who is to monitor him if NO manager is there in the extremely early morning hours? Prior to that, for weeks we notice that he is the ONLY employee that does not even look at members coming or leaving the gym. At the front desk he is always buried in his phone. Unlike all the other employees, there is ZERO acknowledgement from him to any customers coming or going. No eye contact, not even a nod. Just buried in his phone for most of his shift EVERY SINGLE TIME. A bit concerning because this gym is notorious for having unhoused people try to sneak in. How will he even catch them if he NEVER LOOKS UP when people come and go. My spouse and I joke that when we arrive when he is working we feel scared to ask to use the Black Card spa because this employee gives "Don't bother me" vibes. All the other employees, not only at the Ballard gym but even the Aurora one and Edmonds one are all wonderfully postive, welcoming and friendly. But NOT THIS employee. How on earth did he get this job? This job is customer service and yet this guy seems like he hates even looking at people more than anything! One time he was sitting in a chair behind the front desk with his shirt halfway off (like a teenager sitting in their bedroom a little too comfy) and NOT someone who is professionally at work. All the other employees are either happily greeting customers OR working hard pushing the cleaning cart around. Not this guy! Doesn't do either. Just buried in his phone. I challenge management or the owner to come in when he's working and see for yourself! This guy needs to go! Seriously HOW did he get this job? Unprofessional. Another reason his lack of wanting to greet customers is NOT helping is because about a week ago, customers were being told they HAD to scan the code to now start having their parking validated for the garage otherwise it's like a $70 ticket! Important info! Thank goodness it was another employee working when I came in who told me and all the customers! As soon as bald guy though started his shift guess what??? He told NO ONE!! I watched 30 people walk in as I worked out and he told NO ONE. Just did his usual - looked DOWN at his phone the whole time! So ALL those customers were at risk for a ticket. That is called LAZINESS!! Me and my spouse are no longer going to go here. This employee needs to go! Bet ya other customers notice all this in him too!!! Worst employee ever!!

This location is THE cleanest I’ve ever been to! MJ the manager and Megan are absolutely wonderful! I’m alway seeing them and other staff members constantly vacuuming the gym and cleaning the machines and everything else! Also, everyone who works here are extremely nice and polite and are the sweetest people! Love coming to this location! Thank you to everyone here making this a clean and safe place to workout out at! 🙌🏻

Canceling my membership after 1 month. The Ballard location is extremely unsanitary. The men's locker room is disgusting every time I get there. I don't think anyone actually cleans the place other than to over soak the floor with mop water. Showers were beyond bad. I could go on but you get the point.

Meh. It’s a gym. And it’s cheap. Expect that.
It is BOILING in the gym. It was nearly 80 degrees in there. Obviously way outside osha recommended temperatures.
No dual cable cross just a bs hotel like cable tower so forget chest. Only three benches. Limited machines. No rowers. No way to do step ups. No aerobic steppers. The machines are basic as can be.
Honestly it would be a one star if not for the price.
So disappointed.
Also was hoping to do a one day trial to see how it felt and the guy was not helpful.
But seriously. Get fans. Have fans everywhere. Go to Costco and buy 20 stand up fans. The fact that this has been a problem for seven months (as evidence by review after review) and the management has chosen to do nothing, tells me everything I need to know.
Go get some steppers. Get the newer gym machines that use actual technology. This was soooo disappointing.
Currently ranked 6th out of 8 for gyms in the area. If they weren’t cheap, literally no one would ever come.

The people that work there are very rude and unprofessional I ask for the manager information I got MJ and because I ask for help and the new person won't help me to check on the machine massage and I ask him 3 times to help and when I ask Owen he said he forgot his number how u not know ur co worker name. Lack of communication skills and not planning to have a membership here since I was just using one day pass

Anybody who doesn't like Planet Fitness is out of this world. You have every range of age and personality that go there to workout. Granted, you can have General Managers that are a little tough. However, if you go to this Planet Fitness, this is not the case. The GM's name is MJ, and she is about the nicest, most empathetic team leader there is. Even though I don't go to this location, she helped me like I did. If you have a chance to go to this Ballard location, say "hey" to MJ, hands down she is the nicest and coolest GM you will ever meet.

I only had one problem with a worker on the phone, but all the other workers I've spoken with in person or on the phone have been very helpful! The Manager MJ went above and beyond to help me!! She was wonderful to work with, courteous, helpful, caring, and actually cared about her work. Thank you to everyone there

Amazing, wonderful phenomenal gym! I hope management is reading this! First off, me and my husband quit our LA Fitness membership of 14 years to join PF just this month because we are so impressed! I don't know where to begin! Staff is SOOO nice, HELPFUL, friendly, sociable and welcoming! Very happy crew who seem to LOVE being there! They are amazing and are so positive with people. The gym is SOOO clean! Like even the floors are spotless! The black card spa is a dream!! Wow! All the benefits of the massage, red light therapy, basically everything that is good for the body's circulation and healing is outstanding. The gym is beautifully designed and great atmosphere! Everything about PF makes them all around world class. To put in perspective, when I was with LA Fitness I only went once a week. Blah. But with PF I love it SO much I've been going 5 times a week! Great environment, great prices, so modern. Love it love it love it! Management please hear this - you guys are SOO much better managed than most gyms in EVERY way! Thank you! Keep up the world class service!

Cannot stress enough how hot and humid it is here. The lack of ventilation/climate control made me dread going. Staff said it was “being worked on” after receiving complaints, but it’s been months with no changes. Finally cancelled my membership for a gym nearby with AC and more machines.

It gets crowded, and I mean CROWDED and hot.. The staff are hit or miss. Most of the time, they seem lifeless. "Welcome in," in a monotone voice still looking down at their phones. Haha, I didn't feel very welcome and I'm not a sensitive person, but it's happened a few times a long with other micro aggressions.
Accidentally met the manager, can't miss her with a noticeable gap in her teeth and red hair. Asked a question and got brushed off.
Now, there are a couple of more friendly staff, one with long black hair and another more enthusiastic guy who's a self proclaimed Puerto Rican. Two stars for the location.

Great gym, great price, super clean, love the Vibrashape and deep tissue massage chairs. The only thing I think they should ditch is the super bright florescent lights up at the front desk, no one should have to stand under those!
Shout out to Marz, he's especially personable and seems like he could be the gym owner (but I don't think he is as I know he'd change those lights lol). Really all the staff here are great and I can't recommend this place highly enough. So glad they opened this location!

This gym keeps charging my account, i accidentally signed up online on November/2024, (my home gym is actually in Wenatchee Wa) I sent a letter to cancel my membership beginning of February, and until this day 4/17/25 I still keep getting charged! I spoke with the manager Mj (I believe that was her name) she confirmed on 3/31/25 that my membership was cancelled, said she will call me back because Earlier the same day 3/31/25 Shantelle said my membership was transferred over to the zipcode I supposedly told them, when in the first place I never asked for my account to transferred anywhere! She never followed up with me. All I wanted and still want is to cancel my damn membership with this gym. And get my refund I’ve never stepped foot here. Why is it impossible to cancel my membership?!!!!

EXCELLENTLY managed and brand new. Extremely clean. In the peak of busy hour I still saw the front desk going around and cleaning/dusting. Even the locker room is well maintained. Kudos to the cleaning crew and management of this place.
In contrast, I’m forced to go to Rainer Beach location since I live near there … corporate should be ashamed of that location. Horribly managed. Extremely dirty. Lights out in every tanning device for months at a time. The difference between these two clubs is astounding.

There are two staff members, males, who are very loud and obnoxious. I can’t workout without hearing them scream to the top of their lungs. I often see them on their phones or yapping to people near the entrance instead of restocking the paper towels and sprays which are 7 times of out 10 empty. I usually don’t write reviews but this one struck a nerve with me. Even with noice cancelling headphones I can still hear them! Very annoying!

First off - THE DESK STAFF! They truly have gone above and beyond. I have executive functioning issues because of age, and Pricilla, Mars and Rose especially have always exercised patience with me in all the membership details, systems and technology. They truly reflect the NO JUDGEMENT ethos of this chain.
So I appreciate the low lights and softer music. The machines are all equipped with helpful notes and the members are courteous and it’s a mix of folks. It really has a human side that I loved about Ballard Health club and that we need more of in this world. Thank you Staff from this old lady!

My whole experience with this location has been completely frustrating. There is no leadership and workers are liars. I signed up 2 months ago, I’m from Tacoma, and whatever reason it signed me up to this location when it wasn’t even open.
I’ve tried many times to switch to my local club, but many workers told me they have no manager. My amount is past due and the local manager in Tacoma was going to help me cover it while I recover from an injury. He can’t transfer me or help because this location is useless and they won’t help. I called about 8 times this month, and urged them to help me transfer so my closest location can help. The worker Priscilla told me Ashley is the regional manager and not only she would help me transfer but she would help with my past due issue like the manager from my local club is going to. After many times trying to reach a a manager, I finally did.
Now Ashley tells me to pay before transferring me and that’s it. After weeks of trying to transfer and asking for help, Ashley doesn’t seem interested in helping and doesn’t care. Funny how she contacted me after the 25th, when the yearly fee is due. I wasn’t trying to cancel, only transfer. Still very shady and unprofessional to reach out only after.
Avoid this location, nothing but useless employees and management who don’t care about anything.
I will reach out to headquarters and then the BBB for this issue.

Smaller but nicer than the one on aurora. Besides being clean because it’s new, they have more smith machines and some machines that are not available at the north Seattle location. Bonus points for the cup holders to keep stuff off the ground ☺️
Also I did not notice anything weird about the climate control, it felt cool inside. They must have resolved the issue other reviewers mentioned.

The person working at the front desk told me that he didn’t recognize my phone number or name and that I wasn’t in the system and made an entire scene about it and embarrassed me and laughed in my face. I usually go to the planet fitness in south Seattle and they are so kind. I won’t be returning here again. Zero customer service skills.

Needs Improvement. It has a musty sweaty air feeling as of recent. I know they are working on this. The tanning/light rooms dont have benches, towels or cleaning products for beds. I like the Bellevue facility most, still. Hoping that since this is a bee facility it would be better. I wish it had a squat rack and abcruncher (negative gravity i guess it what its called). Great space, but room for improvement. Also, notable, i have had good interactions with staff.

All these unfair 1 star reviews for something that was out of the clubs hands… ANYWAY, Since this is a brand new location the equipment is top notch, and the times I’ve been there not super crowded, which is my preference since the Aurora location can get REAL crowded when doing free weights. I felt the temperature was also perfectly acceptable. When I work out, I want to sweat but not overheat, and that’s what I get. This smaller location reminds me of the PF I used to go to back home in San Diego. Cozy, clean, quiet and the staff are all super friendly. I also like that the showers are double curtained. This has quickly become my main PF.

This location is brand new, convenient, and has some really sweet staff, but it is SO hot and humid that I don’t know if I’ll be able to return. I’m hoping it’s just a quirk they’re working through as it’s a new location, but as it is right now it’s pretty much unusable. Really hope it can be fixed so I can keep working out here!

Very nice staff and clean facility but it is EXTREMELY HOT in the gym. 75 degrees and humid. Makes it impossible to work out comfortably. I gave my feedback to the staff and they said they’d let the manager know but the temperature is the same a week later. What is the deal? Is the manager too cheap to turn on the AC?

New gym in Ballard makes it convenient for me to do some light cardio or weights before/after boxing. This location looks fairly new so I’m unsure of how long it’s been open. Coincidentally found this location as I was searching for the Planet Fitness nearest to home. There is retail parking on the lower level and it is free if you park in a parking spot with a Planet Fitness sign.

So far a solid gym experience. Good assortment of cardio and strength-training equipment. Nice separate area for use of kettle bells and stretching.
Feels clean. Nice that parking is free and easily accessible.
The app experience is awesome as well, as it helps allow you to track how packed the gym is at any given time.

12/23/2024 knocked on the glass and a gentleman opened the door to say that the city was supposed to inspect the building on Friday 12/21/2024 but canceled. It is scheduled for today 12/23/2024 for around 8-9 am. I was told if they pass they can immediately after. The caveat though is the planet fitness ppl would have to open, unsure if they would. The person who informed me was part of the construction crew/ contractor I imagine. I am unsure what keeps Planet fitness from making this info available to us. I see they post and ask to message them personally, well planet fitness just inform the public. I am not on your payroll but have provided more information than any paid member of your staff 3 days after not opening.
