Planet fitness is a franchise, therefore the quality and cleanliness of each can vary greatly. The particular one I have dealt with takes forever to repair broken equipment and I wouldn't walk around in anything but choose. Often out of paper towels for wiping down equipment but that is also subjective depending upon what teenagers are working at the time. Air quality is a huge topic and from what I've seen this particular location does not care or address it when brought up.

This is one of the most middle of the road reviews I could write, but I still want to write it, because this location has so many good AND bad reviews, and I can see why! It’s both. Nice staff but needs improvement.

-Multiple lockers in Men’s Room had bent padlock holes so not lockable. Order replacement parts and I’m sure this could be fixed easily.

-Whoever is reading the reviews on Google Maps here is clearly not doing their job, because they keep directing people to club management?! Excuse me, you are part of club management, deal with it. Forward it to who you need to. That’s YOUR job, not the customer’s.

-New equipment is nice! Older PF I could do *most* of a workout, but having strong legs the leg equipment I usually couldn’t choose a high enough weight. Now, I can do leg day at PF! (Just naturally crazy strong legs, not bodybuilding or anything.)

-Staff was SO FRIENDLY. I saw them cleaning the main club constantly.

-I didn’t see any sign they checked the black card spa rooms between users, or sanitized them. The newer location I visit does this AND has cleaning supplies in the room. This location doesn’t have paper towel or sanitizer in the room, they have one shared for all rooms. If you want your customer to clean, instead of you AT LEAST put the supplies IN THE ROOM.

-I appreciate as someone who uses an app to direct my workout instead of running a circuit that they got rid of the 30 min circuit for more shared equipment. The circuits seemed new user friendly, but they also seemed underutilized compared to the rest of the club. BUT, I don’t love that it doesn’t feel like they left the equipment laid out for people who wanted to keep doing that. The brand new location I am visiting has a group of machines that have a sticker on them (maybe it says total body workout? I think?) that makes it clear what group of equipment it is, if you wanted to keep doing the 30 min workout. That would be really nice for the person who reviewed here that they had the elimination of it.

Overall, this is a nice club, staff wise, but they clearly got new equipment, pivoted, but haven’t really retrained their staff to current standards, or really thought out the new layout well, rather than just putting new equipment in where it fits.

One weekend of deep cleaning, training, replacing a few locker pieces, and rearranging the strength training equipment to feel more intentional rather than random from replacing just some stuff, would go a long way.

I've been a PF member for over a decade and this is hands down the worst location I've been to (and I thought some of the PDX locations were bad). Many of the equipment/machines were "out of order", aside from the 'packed in' set up, the general 'feel' of the workout areas was more catered to what I'll call a frat boy vibe, and then there was the atrocious state of the men's locker room... Upon entering the locker room you're smacked with the odor of bowel movements and mold, there was trash and used towels strewn about the floor and the showers were clearly ready for Halloween, one stall was "out of order" another had a sign taped up in the stall, black mold was visible and copious amounts of soap, body hair and man scum were everywhere from the walls to the floor to the walking areas.. I'd rate this location a zero star if I could and will never be returning...

I go to the Kelso planet fitness which is great but at this Vancouver branch the handicap shower is shut down, being that I have a prosthetic leg I wasn't able to take a shower there. Not sure how long this service has been down but very dissapointed at the level of upkeep at this location.

They gotta stop cleaning (washing windows, mirrors and floors) during open hours, or at least do it 30min before/after closing/opening hours. Me personally as I'm sure many other's, are disgusted by the chemicals used to clean. Especially spraying down windows/mirrors caused the fans to have those chemicals distribute across the whole gym.

Easy access parking lot, good people, good facilities.

* As of JUL 25, 2025, They need a better locker room. Hands down, the 2nd worst place to shower of the area Planet Fitnesses' (the worst is in Fishers Landing off 164th)

- The changing room (only one, btw) has no hooks for clothes, bags, towels, etc.

- The changing room has one plastic chair in the middle of it. It feels like an interrogation room. There should be a bench in it against the wall, creating space for changing.

- No handheld or adjustable shower heads in the showers (4 showers)

I've been monitoring this PF for 7 months. They have made no movement towards improving guest experience, as of yet

One issue is the tanning room floors are usually dirty, and it would be nice if they put a small mirror in them for when you're done. They swapped the men's and womans bathrooms for who knows why and it's a bit gross to have urinals in a womans bathroom.

I normally really enjoy coming here to work out, but lately I’ve been increasingly frustrated—and honestly, a little uncomfortable—with how the women’s bathroom is being handled in the evenings.

It’s become a regular thing that male staff are sent in to do a full clean of the women’s restroom well before closing. For example, today is Sunday and it was only 6:00 PM—they don’t close until 7:00. That’s still a full hour left where women are actively using the bathroom to change, shower, or freshen up after their workouts. Despite that, a male employee was sent in to mop the floors, clean the showers, and wipe down the sinks. I would understand if it was passed maybe 6:30pm but 6:00pm feels ridiculous.

I want to be clear: I absolutely understand the need to clean and prepare the facility for closing. But it feels premature, and worse—it’s not being handled in a respectful or professional way. The only “notice” we got today was a heads-up from another customer, who was grabbed to spread the word that a man was coming in. That’s not fair to her, and not everyone even heard the warning.

At one point today, a woman had her top off in the locker area when the male cleaner walked in. That’s not just frustrating—it’s inappropriate and could easily make someone feel violated or unsafe.

I’m saying this not to be harsh, but because I think your team can and should do better. Cleaning protocols matter, but so do boundaries and basic privacy. Please reconsider how and when this cleaning is done—and how women in the locker room are being informed.

Not enough weight machines or free weights for my taste, but it’s a solid place to workout. Offers a lot more than what I thought $10 a month would. Definitely a good fit for 35+ year old adults or young people who wanna get into fitness.

This place does not take pride in cleaning the tanning beds / red light. I watched a team member barely wipe anything down. When I got into the beds I found Hair everywhere, trash, sweaty footprints from the last person etc. they also don’t clean the massage chairs, apparently that is the guests responsibility however there are no signs regarding this. When I tried to talk to the team member about it he kinda laughed it off. This is how fungal infections spread. Absolutely disgusting.

I had to come back and edit my once positive review of this planet fitness. I was a member here for almost six years, and the experienced has gotten continually worse over time. This place has been complete chaos throughout the remodel process, and they redesigned the space to feel even more cramped than before. The cleanliness has really been lacking in recent months, the equipment is constantly broken, and they have severely oversold the amount of memberships they have the capacity for. I completely understand the push for growth as a business, but it's really time for them to expand into a bigger location if they intend to continue growing. Between broken machines, and overcrowding, you are stuck waiting constantly to use just about anything. There are several gyms close by, so switching at this point was the obvious choice.

You get what you pay for. For $10/month, don’t expect much—but even basic standards aren’t met here. The staff is unfriendly and doesn’t seem to know anything (I asked about an exercise stepper and got a blank stare). The equipment is often dirty or broken, and it’s always uncomfortably hot inside—clearly they’re skimping on A/C. Spend a little more and go somewhere that actually cares about its members.

I must edit my once positive review. New managment has chossen to play their 'house music' at high volume. While 99% of members now wear ear buds or head phones and have no deire to listen to the annoying house music. - With our own devices members could peacfully listen to our own pod-casts or music. PF is a good basic gym for the price. If I were going to change anything, I'd get rid of some treadmills and ellipticals and bring in a few crossfit elements like sleds, assault bikes, ski erg, slam balls, landmines, and heavier kettlebells. It would make things more versatile for people who use workout apps that utilize that stuff. Other than that, it gets the job done...

Overall, I enjoy this gym. Pretty clean. Most of the staff are nice, but a couple are pretty unfriendly and seem more worried about their phones. A few treadmills sound horrible. I bike pedals are mostly trashed. Definitely need another torso rotation machine.

PLANT FITNESS HAZEL DELL-
Went to my Hazel Dell Planet Fitness (while in town) only to find out that they have eliminated the 30 minute workout room- something that catered to their older population or those new to fitness-
A room with an easy pattern of machines- timed - with a cardio step inbetween (also with effective / optional activities) to give you a full - healthy - safe workout!
Upon my dismay of finding this out…a 20 something assured me that similar machines were somewhere in the back corner of the gym and I could just jog in place between lifting… someone needs to update staff on appropriate and safe senior fitness cardio activitues 🤦‍♀️
Now it’s just a gym- confusing - ill fitted machines - irregular, far reaching layout… no program… I’m not a stranger to fitness but the quality and ease of workout is lost… and the population I once saw - trying to keep their feet under themselves- was not there💔
The gym I could walk to in the summer for consistency is now lost-
Updated for the young/tech savy - and yes full of the gym thunks- monoplizing machines - you remember your campaigned against that PF??? No “unwelcomed” feeling??? You know… to each their own- everyone has a right to work out as thet see fit… but there was always room to feel comfortable - a space for everyone- that’s why I joined-
So - Your new policy for new and remodeled gyms axing the 30 minute workout room SUCKS PF-
I guess we boomers are not just losing our SS and Medicare… we’re being forgotten in our neighborhood gyms as well!

The manager with long brown hair was extremely rude to me this morning and would not let me in despite the fact that I currently have a membership. My "home gym" has some quirks but I wasn't prepared to encounter what I would consider the worst "cleaning" job ever! I popped in to tan and use the beauty angel today in N. Hazel Dell and was at once encountered by a dirty tanning booth. There was animal hair (?) and random dirt all over the floor of the booth. I can handle animal hair and random dirt, however I was definitely not expecting what happened next. I walked to the desk to check in for the Total Body Enhancement (beauty angel) and the employee said that he needed to clean it really quick. I watched as he walked into the room and walked back out. I didn't say anything as I know how lazy teenagers can be, however upon entering the room I looked at the floor in the booth and saw not just dirt but also pubic hair on the floor. I decided this time I'm taking pictures and showing the manager. As I was leaving I stopped by the table where 2 managers were sitting and informed them of the issues. Neither of them batted an eye. One of them said "oh no I'm sorry that happened" and I told them that I took pictures if they wanted to see. They responded with "no that's ok I believe you and we'll get it taken care of right away". I'm considering finding a new gym.

I get that people shouldn't be slamming weights, but the "lunk alarm" (the biggest sign display there) also disparages those who grunt, wear a "body building tank top," and "drink out of a gallon water jug." Meanwhile another sign says PF is place where "anyone, and I mean ANYONE can feel comfortable", and the gym is labeled a judgement-free zone all over the place. All while judging "lunks." If that sounds hypocritical, it's because it is.

I was a member for a couple months, but am leaving the country, so tried to cancel my membership before the annual fee hit at the beginning of February. Surprise, I was supposed to give them a week's notice, because the fee takes that long to "process on the back end." Sure. When everything else there is processed instantly.

There are no free barbell weights (just smith machines, and those are more than likely to be all in use). I also had to wait quite often for a machine or dumbbell bench I wanted to use. I get it, I can't expect to have everything available all the time in a budget-minded gym, so I adjust my workout on the fly. But it happened more than I liked.

The equipment and machines are nice, though, and the monthly fee is reasonable. For that reason I give it 2 instead of 1 star. If you just want cardio and casual weight lifting, and you also don't like grunting lunks, then PF might be the place for you.

I don't have an issue with the local facility. My issue is with the owner. It is winter, you should turn the heat on. i am a black cared member and use facilities all over the country and every gym I have visited is at least 10 degrees warmer than this gym. I have asked the facility manager about this and employees when I visit. Nothing has been done. I have asked to have the ceiling fans turned down if the heat is not going to be turned up. This isn't done.
I feel for the employees that have to work at this facility because of how cold it is in the gym.

The TV's in the elliptical machines don't work and on the TV's you can see all that is playing is cooking and church services. Please fix the TV's in the equipment or hang TV's from the ceiling like other Planet Fitness gyms do. You spend thousands of dollars updating the gym, and you can't get the TV's to work.

The owner does not care about the members comfort while working out and he does not care about the comfort of his employees.

I like this planet fitness and go often but if I go around 10 am there’s a creepy older man who follows me around and watches me from across the room & stares at me while doing workouts (and other women) that I have to drive to the farther planet fitness if I have to go around that time. If he’s there, I often will just leave. I told staff and they were pretty nonchalant about it and said they’d look into it but it seems as if nothing was done (it seems like it would be a difficult thing to confront) but alas it really makes the experience uncomfortable .

Like the previous complaint, this is my home gym as well. I will start by stating I am a black card member, after having to go to another gym for 3 weeks then coming back to my gym, after 3 more weeks there still are no perks on what we pay for. I also work out at 5 AM, it was 37 degree’s this morning and the door is wide open. It is freezing in there. I really like the gym and the people but this is getting ridiculous. After reading the previous posts, I will not get with the management, as the owner that is your responsibility. I am a customer and that is truly on shaky ground, not trying to be a jerk just stating how I feel.

4 smith machines in the whole gym & one has been broken for 2 weeks. if you need to bench press you better enjoy doing it on machines because there aren’t any free weights benches & these 4 smith machines are the only place to bench, squat, or shoulder press in the whole gym. you will
likely have to wait to use them & when you do use them there will be people waiting to use it when you’re done. not a great gym experience. plenty of cardio equipment if that’s what you wanna do I guess.

I usually enjoy this gym for the most part, but I find it odd that they play cake baking, fried food, and dessert shows on all the TVs. It seems counterproductive to promoting a healthy and motivating workout environment. Despite that, I’ve had positive experiences here—until today. I came in expecting the gym to be finished with its remodeling as advertised by the door signs and by the other Planet Fitness locations, but what I encountered was disappointing. The scanner at the entrance didn’t even work properly, and employees didn’t even have a good desk to sit at. Almost all the major equipment was roped off with yellow tape, the bathrooms didn’t even have lights, and it looked like they simply pushed treadmills and a few machines into the center of the gym and expected people to work out. Given the state of the gym, I believe the entire Hazel Dell community should be refunded for this month, and for next month if things aren’t resolved.

This is my home gym and I really like it here. My current rating is due to the lack of communication with the remodel. The automated is telling people 6am it was supposed to open yesterday and now today. Many people today show up to a handwritten sign stating 10. I get that people can go to one of the others but when we are relying on the company to be up to date with updates (especially people going before work) it’s frustrating to have such poor communication. They really should consider refunds for the month.

I enjoy coming here most of the time but the hours kill me. I work nights and this gym is definetly not open 24 hours. I understood it during the pandemic but anymore theres no excuse. I signed up for planet because of the convenient hours, they're not anymore. Went in tonight at 6:45 and theres a sign that they're closing at 7pm. Then inconsistent hours alone would have me switch gyms.

No frills, no pressure, no weird gym culture. They don't offer classes, they don't offer training, there's nothing to upsell, there's no reason to avoid the desk as you enter or leave. Very upset by the hall staff
When I got out of the shower, I was completely naked without underwear. There were 15 minutes left before the hall closed. A man entered the women's locker room. He saw me naked and said that the hall was closing. I consider this unacceptable, since my rights were violated. At that moment there were female staff in the hall. Why does a man enter the women's locker room?

Strange type of organization, tried telling me what I had to download and not download on my phone. Didn't ask politely, I was told what I had to do with my phone or else I wasn't allowed to use the equipment. Spend a few extra bucks and go elsewhere.

I've got to say they "try" but that's about all. It seems that a lot of the equipment needs repair. Many of the tvs at the aerobic equipment don't work and the staff "doesn't really know how they work". Scheduled a massage chair to be told that I would have to wait 15 minutes longer as one of the chairs was out of order. "We can't let you know because the system is automated" I find it hard to believe that the staff doesn't have access to pen and paper. I much prefer the east 4th plain location

I joined after my apartments gym flooded due to a broken pipe. I started coming to this location because its the closest to my work downtown vancouver. And i honestly prefer this location versus the other two that ive been to and are relatively closer to my house. The staff (atleast the staff thats here from around 7:30am to about noon) at this location (unlike other locations) are always doing something. Cleaning, refilling bottles, helping customers, wiping stuff down, checking the bathrooms and cleaning them. I applaud the the morning/early afternoon employees because i know any sort of customer service can be draining. I appreciate the intiative and their constant strive to keep the facility clean. Its the little thing that I appreciate- I am the director of HR for a local company and i always appreciate any staff that hold their job with a hugher regard. Your hard work doesnt go unnoticed.

I've used planet fitness gyms all over this country and the Vancouver Washington location just west of interstate five is by far the worst. They have a good staff of young people, unfortunately the mens showers are at best cold and if you let them run for about five minutes solid they will become lukewarm. On several occasions, the showers are also quite dirty littered with hair from who knows what, but it is the Pacific Northwest?

Moved across the country and they won’t let me cancel my membership without coming into the gym. Only other option is to send them a letter. Of course there is no telling as to when they will get this letter and they can continue to charge me until they “receive it”. The letter could conveniently sit there for as long as they please. Don’t bother giving this gun your money.

Eso de las 4:30 pm está lleno algunas máquinas están fuera de servicio. Aveces tienes que esperar que desocupen las máquinas para poderlas usar lo cual nunca pasa. Personalmente creo que esta pequeño el espacio algunas máquinas se ven arrumadas debes caminar un montón para trabajar con barras libres solo están a un lado.

Si llegas eso de las 4:15 am es el mejor momento puesto que puedes hacer uso de las máquinas como debería ser.

Around 4:30 pm it is full some machines are out of service. Sometimes you have to wait for the machines to clear before you can use them, which never happens. Personally, I think that the space is small, some of the machines look cramped, you have to walk a lot to work with free bars that are only on one side.

If you arrive around 4:15 am it is the best time since you can use the machines as it should be.

We finally had to cancel our membership. We could take it anymore, my wife was being harassed by a couple different sleazy men, trying to pick up on her for over a month now! We contacted management and it continued, so we are taking our business somewhere else! Too creepy of an environment for us!

Pros:
--Always clean (except the wall mirrors)
--Friendly staff
--Staff doesn't try to sell you anything
--Good people
--Updated equipment
--Plentiful equipment (except a few - see below)
--Clean equipment
--Clean bathrooms

Cons:
--Y'all need and additional (or two) Smith Rack. It's a PITA having to wait or feel rushed when others are waiting. Part of the problem with waiting is waiting on the early 20-something (or younger) kids who want to sit and scroll on their social media...which isn't a ding on the gym but on the people.
--Get a Pullover Machine
--Get another Fly machine (See complaint about Smith Rack)
--Get a couple straight/flat bench press set-ups
--The area that's set aside for the "Circuit Training" that no one uses as such could be a Free Weights section
--Higher weight curved barbells are needed; y'all only go up to 70 lbs here...the option for a 100 lb curl bar would be fantastic.

I know the big box gyms have what I mentioned, but, I like PF because no one is trying to sell me a trainer, any kind of "nutritional supplement", and they don't need me to sign up with a near deposit of a car loan, and they're only $10/month. Overall, I'm really happy with the location and what's available...some of the members aren't the best, but, that's why we have ear buds, right?

I'm always impressed with PF, and this location in particular - it's super clean, the extra amenities that come with the black card are above and beyond, the equipment is new and maintained, and the staff is helpful. I've been a member at three other major competitors. Aside from use of a pool, racquetball courts, and basketball courts that are at some others, PF far surpasses all other aspects. All of that even before mentioning the price! You feel good even just being a member of such a community.

I absolutely love planet fitness, I'm a beginner and the machines are very easy to use and understand. I'm not sure why people say that planet fitness is awful. It's extremely underrated. I recommend putting 1 more smith machine because most of them are always taken. Other than that it's a pretty good gym.

Lacks some foundational equipment like free barbells. Smith machines are alright, I'd prefer a standard rack. Being a beginner friendly gym I think their priorities lie in safety rather than physical mastery. Good value for free summer passes.

ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! They will not allow you to cancel your account without coming in person or mailing a letter to their office. I moved out of town and needed to cancel my account and now I'm going to have to drive to this location to cancel my account. On top of that the guy that answered the phone was useless. He didn't know the address of the store. I don't see why you can't at least email a letter to cancel. It's just so they can make it harder for people to cancel and that's unacceptable. I will never go back to planet fitness. I was planning on reactivation in the fall since I don't use my account in the summer but I'll be going elsewhere now.

I signed up for this gym just before Covid. I went once, and came back the next day to cancel my membership. I filled out a paper and was told to leave it at the front desk.

I looked at my banking records about a month ago and realized they have been charging me for over 3 years and never canceled my account.

Almost always clean, compared to some other PF's. Equipment is new, too. That's a nice bonus. I usually go to Vancouver or Portland for my workouts, but have been to some in San Diego that had squeegees in the shower. Very nice to have the person wipe it out real quick. Maybe other locations should join the trend of cleaning up after yourself?

Do not count on management to do a thing; you’ll probably see someone die before anyone lifts a finger.

It's a nice clean fitness center. But the blatent hypocrisy is astounding.

They say it's a "judgment free zone" but they don't want those of us who are physically stronger than the average stick figure character to be able to lift the weights we need to maintain our strength. That's judgment. They refuse to provide more 45# plates for the equipment. I squat 500# for reps. I push 1000# on the leg press. In order to get a great workout, I have to take all of the plates from everywhere in the gym.

It's stupid.
