I've been training here, typically 4 days per week since March 2023.

The facility is very spacious and well maintained thus far. It is open 24 hours during the week, and limited hours for the weekend which I would imagine works quite well for most people.

It is not a gym for powerlifters or advanced bodybuilders as there are limitations in reference to 75 lb dumbbells and fixed barbells (standard or ez curl design) are limited to 60lbs; as well the lack of squat racks, etc.

For most people it is a great place to improve your fitness on various levels.
I upgraded to the PF black card to access the red light/infrared therapy which I have read so many good things about. The hydro-massage is a nice finisher (especially after training your back muscles) when a professional massage isn't on your budget.

The staff has changed since I have been there and I want to compliment the staff members I have interacted with weekly:

The manager Uriel, who runs a tight ship, overseeing policy & procedures on every level. I constantly see him walking around with a daily checklist/inventory, cleaning, etc.

I love, my home away from home...want to draw extra attention to experience Sunday Nov 16th. When I arrived the place was gleaming, floors shiny, three staff at work, all the while keeping an eye on the counter in case someone needs help. Manager Uriel must be doing a stellar job, consistent solid customer service, regular maintenance, willing to guide guests learning to work a machine, or enjoy red light therapy, the overall team is exceptional. Best PF I've been to and last count I've been to sixteen up and down the west coast, not said to impress, rather I know what I'm talking about. PS I tend to do a lot of hydro massage, up to four a day, and not once has staff rolled their eyes or made a comment, such as, "Are you sure you want to go again? Thank you!

Shittiest gym
Ever they harassed their customers that have service animals, and old people constantly get in your business about if your service animal is actually a service animal me and my boyfriend, both struggle with disorders that permit us to have a service animal in this gym and the Hispanic manager, the short, one harasses us every time we go in there and won’t leave us alone about our dog. We’ve been in their millions of times and he is not the owner. He’s not in charge of anything so if the owner sees this, please contact me find out what my account is. You’ll find out that your manager closed our accounts without us saying that we want them closed and did that under no violation. We did not say or do nothing that was wrong. We were simply upset that we should be able to have our service animal with us at all times and he just closed our accounts for no reason so you guys have a terrible manager working for you and he should be fired. I’m tired of being harassed every time we go to this location and I took down my last review to try to be kind and nice but you know what I’m leaving this review until you guys make this right and give us back our money for this month and all the months before where we had to be harassed by this manager and other employees that wouldn’t leave us alone mostly employees were kind to us except for the manager so anyways, I would like to speak to the main owner of this facility. CANCEL ONLINE PEOPLE!!!! I moved away over a year ago and immediately called to cancel my membership. Tony tells me I have to come in in person to cancel. Well, I live an hour away now—so that’s not happening. Then he tells me to send a certified letter. 🤯

Fast forward nearly 20 months of paying for a membership I wanted gone, only to find out I could’ve canceled ONLINE the entire time. So basically, your staff is trained to underinform customers just to keep taking their money.

One of the best Planet Fitness locations I’ve been to in the area. The equipment is always clean and in great working condition, and the overall atmosphere is positive and comfortable—perfect for getting a good workout in.

Because of a power outage, all the computers were down so some of the Black Card perks weren’t available. There was no manager at the store and the staff didn’t know the logins to the computer systems to reset the massage and tanning beds. This seems like an easy fix. Empower your employees a little bit. There was cable TV by the treadmills but in the lounge and where the massage chairs are there is no cable or remote truly sad because I paid for the Black card at each month which is an additional $15 so if anybody out there write a review about it and maybe we can change things and get cable and the remote where the lounge is at planet fitness and not just in the workout areas where the treadmill is

I really like the gym and the staff is all great BUT my friend and I had our routine of working out, showering, going to work but unfortunately the hot water in the showers is either non existent or would last literally a minute or so. So although we still go it would be nice to be able to shower there. That's why I give it 4 instead of 5 stars.

Doesn't matter the time of day... 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon 3:00 a.m. in the morning... Showers go cold after 10 or 15 minutes... Which is kind of ironic because the toilets are on the hot water... Been a member for years... Never had this kind of issue at PF anywhere else. PS. Been with planet fitness since 2017. Excited to have this location when moved into town. Excellent staff on weekdays and weekends for both AM/PM crowd. Gym is always clean and everyone is super polite, friendly and knowledgeable. Would recommend this branch and planet fitness if you’re starting out with your gym journey. Loved this location and sad to go but highly recommend for a solid place to start your fitness journey of continue to do so.
Can get busy depending on (holidays; school schedules, etc) but few crowds for early morning (5am-6am) and right before parents leave to pick up from schools (2-4:30ish)

This has to be the worst gym. My partner and I call this gym at 6:30pm on 1/29/25 to cancel our membership and the PF staff member Alexis answers the phone. He assures me that I have to go to my home branch to cancel and that it says so on my contract. However, my contract says no such thing. I started coming to PF almost 2 years ago. I was apprehensive and a little uncomfortable at first. Upon returning I had the pleasure of meeting Uriel, whom made my returns more comfortable each time. At one point I was frustrated and ready to give up my membership but Uriel pulled me aside and spoke to me on a personal level that kept me coming back!

Let me say this. I have an account for a couple years off and on and never have I ever seen a planet fitness like this one. It's so big with so many different options to work on. One of my favorites is the certain rooms of equipment. The new chairs for the massage are OMG so worth it. A lot better than 5 years ago. I'm here beginning at about 2 pm on Sunday. Not very many people here. Was hoping to watch the Seahawks during my workout. Basketball and soccer are on TV but no NFL football.
Two hypotheses:
1. People are staying home to watch NFL football.
2. Adding NFL would attract more people especially as you expand into smaller towns.

My husb. goes here and really likes the facility and staff. Says it's always clean and well maintained. His biggest complaint is that members OFTEN will just sit on multiple pieces of workout equipment with their ear buds in, and will be talking on their phones, or scrolling on them, without using the equipment at all. For sometimes up to 15-20 mins. at a time. He has multiple injuries and can't be there for long, so he often can't use 1-2 of the machines he wants to use because they're tying it up for nothing. The staff tells HIM to go up to the person and politely confront them, but that is THEIR job! They shld be perusing the floor and asking people to USE the machines OR free them up. These days EVERYONE has a fit if you approach them and you aren't a staffer. Please do YOUR job employees. People will take it better coming from you, and you owe it to your other members. Most people don't like confronting someone over their thoughtless behavior. It's a waste for him to drive 30 mins to get there, and just sit and wait long periods and never get to use the machines he needs. And these are NOT at peak times, but almost every time he goes there. And signs don't work these days.

The general manager can benefit from better training on the basic essentials of customer service and how to talk to people appropriately, considering this is a very customer focused job afterall! I like planet fitness because of the convenience to locations as I travel across the US , this is not an equinox or boutique gym…. Tried Planet Fitness on Summitview out after years at another gym in Yakima. I can't imagine going back to my former gym. Planet Fitness is awesome! Massage Chair Insanity:
I am a huge fan of Planet Fitness, located on Summitview Ave. This gym has a great staff and excellent facilities, which are scrubbed within an inch of their lives. Memberships are affordable and great value as part of the Planet Fitness brand promise. But…there is one issue that occupies a growing space in my cranium and now deserves some virtual airtime, massage chair #1. This chair is part of the Black Card membership service, which provides members additional spa-related services at a higher monthly price. From a brand promise perspective, this sets the service level higher.

Now, this chair has had ongoing functional health issues for months. Many members have notified gym staff when it doesn't work, and an outside repair service person has attempted to fix the chair unsuccessfully. This repeated behavior raises questions of sanity and a failed brand promise. At what point does the cost of repairs exceed the cost of replacing this chair with a new one? The quote that defines insanity as repeating the same behavior and expecting a different outcome springs to mind. Removing or refusing to fix the chair fails Planet Fitness' brand promise, especially at the Black Card membership level. For me, this Planet Fitness would need to replace the chair with a new one to restore what is now becoming a broken brand promise, not to mention a royal annoyance.

If you can and are a member, mention it to the staff. Maybe the owner of this Planet Fitness location needs to hear a critical mass of complaints before they make good on their brand promise.

Also, if you are looking for a great place to workout, join this gym. Don't let this minor fix negatively influence your decision. This place is well worth the price of admission. Discourse like this is intended to keep standards high for all current and future members.

Of the 2 locations in Yakima, this one is my preferred. The facility is always clean from the equipment to the locker room. I have never walked in without the staff welcoming me in. This facility doesn't deserve 5 stars... because it deserves 6. The staff are extremely friendly and always go out of their way to make you feel welcome; it's like a family here. This location is led by a really good manager as well who goes above and beyond. My wife and I recently joined and have had a great experience here. We pretend we’re going to a spa and it actually works out pretty nice that way with different things to use that don’t cost hundreds of dollars like in the big city.

My best experience so far though was when I was laying down on the Hydromassage bed it accidentally sprung a leak and when I got done with my session, my shirt was all wet and I went and reported this to the front desk. Immediately they went into check the machine they gave me a free dry T-shirt a free drink and a big apology. It was super kind service. I can’t wait till the next thing breaks down lol.

The atmosphere here is welcoming and fun. The staff are amazing and get to know you on a first name basis. This is the cleanest gym I’ve ever been in. The locker rooms are always clean and well stocked. The people who come to this gym regularly are polite and respectful. It is the best place to workout in Yakima.

I have been going to gyms for about 20 years now. I have never been to a better gym. This facility is constantly clean, every machine works, you have full access to every set of dumbbell you could ever need, and most importantly the staff is always extremely helpful and positive. 5/5 stars I really can’t think of anything more I would want at a gym. No judgement is true. I've not seen nor heard anyone judge anyone while in the gym. The hydromassage tables and massage chairs ($25 a month membership) make the rehabilitation process seem smoother and quicker. Great place to change your body for the good.

Didn't go to the gym for like a month. Went to the gym and someone had cut the locks on my and my bffs lockers and stole our shoes and all of our gym clothes!! Was told it was not there problem and they would do nothing about it! I closed my membership right then and there will never go back after that!!

I go to Planet Fitness on Summit View you guys Rock! WHEN it comes to MIZZ LIZZY and myself, even though I'm a certified service dog trainer there is things that I did not know especially when it comes to purebred German Shepherds ! I knew that they get dysplasia in the hips. All the information I have got from Planet Fitness and their customers have made it easier and less stressful to train, Thank you all for your information, consideration kindness and most of all your patience! I really appreciate it! You have made my life easier ! You are amazing! Lots of love and respect always! I love this gym. However! The drama with management has effected all aspects of the gym. It truly is a shame that Tony isn’t there anymore!
The past two months, I’d say it has gotten better. The place is looking cleaner. For a while, it seemed like everything was in disrepair and not being fixed. From the sound not working on the steppers to the abs machines being out of order.
The hours are not working out for me on the weekends. They open at 7:00 and close at 7:00!?! I am starting to think joining Acheive might be a better alternative.
