Great gym with a healthy mix of strength training as well as cardio, coached by experienced coaches who are very knowledgeable.

I joined Project Fortius a year ago shortly after my Crossfit gym closed down. After working out here for a year, I would recommend anyone who is interested in getting fit or looking for a good gym to give Project Fortius a try.

What I like about this place:
Decent class size - class size is usually between 4 to 8 people, which is just small enough for you to get individual attention, but also large enough to have a group workout vibe.

Great coaches - All the coaches are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Many of the coaches used to be or still are high level competitive athletes. And they have a passion to share their knowledge with you and help you succeed.

Carefully selected workouts - the workouts are handpicked by the coach. It is usually a mix of strength work as well as cardio. Compared to Crossfit, we never do the crazy workouts like 200 air squats or super high reps of clean and jerk, which I m sure is great but just challenging if you are not very experienced. Instead, there's usually a strength session that involves some dumbbell/barbell work, then some form of cardio to finish things up.

Personally, I don't consider myself very athletic and I had not been working out much before I joined. So joining a gym and doing strength workout was kind of intimidating for me. But Project Fortius really makes you feel comfortable and confident about yourself. The people here are friendly and encouraging, and you feel you are taken care of if you are ever confused about workouts or injuries.

Definitely give Project Fortius a try, they also have a free trial class so you can get a sense of what is involved.

I was in the area for a summer job. From the very first class I took, both the coaches and members made me feel incredibly welcome. Fantastic coaches, fantastic programming, and fantastic members. Highest recommendation.

We were in Seattle visiting family and I needed a gym for daily workouts. I don't like the big box places. This neighborhood gym was perfect. Clean, organized, and well-equipped. The customer service was great. Strong communication and good use of technology. Definitely hope to see them again on future visits.

While visiting a friend I had the pleasure of taking two classes and one personal training session at Project Fortius. First, everyone was kind and helpful, which is a big deal to me. Second, they can explain movement in a fantastic way and help adapt to your body type. Having the good fortune of working with Andy, Leigh Ann, and Mike was fantastic. If you are looking for a gym, personal training, a community, I would bet that you would find what you are looking for here. There should be no doubt in your mind that this is a solid place.

I started working out at Project Fortius about 6 months ago with very little prior gym experience. The trainers (Mike, Andy and Jess) are deeply knowledgeable, kind and fantastic people. I felt very supported while ramping up and quickly started enjoying the workouts. I love that the exercises are suitable for beginners and experienced folks alike. they do a great job on programming: each workout feels challenging and balanced. Also love the class size!

“Citius, Altius, Fortius” is the motto of the Olympic Games, which symbolizes unity and exuberance of the human spirit. These three Latin words mean “Swifter, Higher, Stronger.” I believe they chose “Fortius” for its meaning: Stronger. I love how on their website they have this description, “Everything gets easier when you’re stronger. Whether you’re carrying a heavy backpack up a mountain or chasing a toddler around your house... Strength is the foundation to your health and performance.”

I've worked with Leigh Ann as my coach for 5 years and now part of this gym. While I can talk about the transformation of physicality, what they have also taught is mental, emotional, and holistic strength as well.

As I currently am navigating the death of my spouse, who was also a member at Project Fortius, I am recognizing deeply the strength developed over the years; the base line these people have taught and provided for me through the process of holistic health. I don't feel strong right now, and that's ok. Because the base they have given me is one of strength to fall back on. Which means I'm stronger, even in my weakest days. Project Fortius. Stronger.

I have come to this gym for several years - the coaches are top-shelf with decades of multi-disciplinary experience in the ecosystem of fitness; they can expertly connect the why with the how of workouts. As an added bonus, they happen to be really nice people who foster an incredible community.

The well-equipped gym is a perfect size that enables both a sense of community with others working out, but permits close-in coaching and attention.

Phenomenal - I highly recommend.

This place has truly been life changing since I started going about 2-1/2 years ago. Every trainer there truly cares about each of us and our success, and the programming is a nice mix of challenging and enjoyable. The available class schedule works well (plenty of options). The fact that it's just two blocks from home is icing on the cake.

Project Fortius is a fantastic option for anyone who is looking to improve their overall strength and fitness in a mature, supportive, and professional environment. The community is welcoming and fun. Leigh Anne, Andy and Mike are truly exceptional trainers with decades of experience. There is a deep appreciation for movement and kinesiology that goes into creating a holistic approach to programming that you frankly don’t see at most gyms. If you ask a question, you get a thoughtful and reasoned explanation that helps you appreciate the “journey.” They do a masterful job demoing the workouts. This is not a bombastic, death-by-burpees box.
You’ll meet a lot of really nice people to boot!

Can you come here and workout without a personal trainer, or on your own?

Mike is one of the most knowledgable and relatable weight lifting coaches I've ever encountered. I always look forward to sessions with him cause I know I'm going to get stronger, learn something new, laugh, and listen to some good tunes. Definitely one of the best gyms in the PNW.
