Rainier Beach Yoga has been a safe, welcoming space for me as a queer woman to learn yoga (I was a complete beginner) and foster resilience. I appreciate practicing yoga in a way that's right for my body "as is" without judgment or competition. Through RBY's classes and events, I've also learned about racial equity and my role in upholding white privilege - there's no shying away from it. This studio is deeply rooted in community with offerings for all people, and Laura is a compassionate, knowledgeable teacher and leader.

Laura and RW led the βundoing whitenessβ class tonight with truth and grace. I was unsure what to expect, but the made the space welcoming and I came away with new knowledge and insight.

I highly recommend Rainier Beach Yoga and Laura's teaching and yoga therapy. Beautiful, peaceful space and connected, heart-felt teaching. Laura helps each person find the practice that is right for them.

Heard good things about them within the yoga community, and I am glad poc have their own safe space to practice. I am not threatened of this.

I love that I see Rainier Beach Yoga and Satmato Yoga Therapy in partnership with 8 limbs constructing a new narrative on yoga in the Western world. The fact that Laura has tirelessly fought to create a different, more critical approach to the Western-yoga I find to be incredible. We should be having conversations about racism, sexism, classism, ableism, ageism and heteronormativity within the yoga community. Yoga is about compassion and balance and connectivity which cannot happen without recognizing first our role within systems of oppression. I see Laura doing this work and bringing it forth to our community. So thanks Rainier Beach Yoga <3

Racist organization that excludes Caucasian people from some of their classes. I do not support this as it brings back segregation and seems like a punishment to Caucasian people for a past which today we had no control over. If the intent is to give people of color a place to be WITHOUT Caucasian people around then I would also not that this establishment does not promote harmony amongst all people from differing backgrounds and cultures.
Racism is racism, no matter which color, culture or ethnicity you are excluding.

I worked with Laura at Rainier Beach Yoga in a few different capacities. One was an awesome outdoor yoga class last summer. The second was as a private yoga therapy client. Both instances have really helped me connect in with my body more, deepen my yoga practice and help manage anxiety. Highly recommend.

Laura is a compassionate, tuned in, peaceful, well informed yoga teacher and therapist. Poor reviews appear to be exclusively from people who have never met her or been to her studio. Ignore them. She and her studio rock.

Laura is a wonderful teacher. I took Yoga for Depression with her. She is supportive, kind and gentle, everything you could want in a yoga teacher.

My sister first started going to Laura for yoga years ago. My mom eventually followed, and so did I. Living in Everett, it has been hard to get down south, but I love all my experiences with Laura. I hope other people will enjoy her easy going manner and breadth of yoga knowledge.

Laura taught a yoga class at a retreat I went to 8 years ago. She was so non-judgmental about my lack of experience and made me feel very comfortable. I was lucky to find her again years ago at her studio in the Central District. Her Yoga for Depression class was life changing. Not only is she great with yoga but she is also wise, gentle and full of love for everyone. Highly recommend her, especially for people nervous to give yoga a try.

A sweet space in a neighborhood where even the chicken coop has peace flags flying! I have attended Laura's classes at various studios for years and it was wonderful to see her dream studio up and running. All props are provided and people of all body types and abilities are welcomed. The space can only fit about 10 yogis, so you're guaranteed an intimate class size-- it was a breeze for me to pre-register online, which is recommended to guarantee a spot. Online payment was also easy using Paypal. Laura's reputation speaks for itself as not only a very skilled teacher and practitioner with melt-your-heart good adjustments, but what I love most about her as a yoga teacher are her candid honestly and inclusive language. Make sure to visit her website to get directions (or just follow the signs!), there is space to park either in the driveway or on the street closeby.

Laura is an outstanding teacher and student of yoga who embraces all students. Her classes derive from her considerable experience and a personal commitment to yogic principles and are the ideal of what a yoga teacher should aspire to teach. Anyone who actually takes one of her classes will understand this.

I support you guys and all that you do. It is important for all of us white folks to understand that this isn't about us, this is about offering a safe space where people of color (people who may not be super comfortable in other yoga classes) can be together and focus on their practice. There are a thousand other yoga classes in Seattle that are 98% white for us white people to go to.

Yoga teachings are about acceptance, mindfulness and peace. Excluding ANY race goes against the primary beliefs of yoga. You should be promoting openness not exclusion. You should not be permitted to practice yoga- this studio is an insult to the very beliefs yogis hold dear. What is wrong with you?

Peace to Rainier Beach Yoga for creating a safe space for people of color! Speaking as a white ally I am really glad someone has the guts to make the POC yoga class a reality, and I hope these classes are well attended!

Instructor is not professional. Teaches like a beginner.
They rip you off too. Charged me more than double what their website informs.
Stay away!
