I started a trial at SSP after struggling to motivate myself for the first time in a long time. I was skeptical I'd stick with it; I thought I just needed a jump start to get me back to my own workouts and training. But damn, this place is great! I'm learning an incredible amount about form and training philosophy, and seeing fitness gains at a pace that I haven't experienced in ~10 years. It's a great community with extremely knowledgeable, high-energy coaches. Worth it!

My wife and I both started working out here in May of 2024 and still going strong. Hadn't done strength training in 20 years before starting. A year and a half later we feel way better than we have in a very long time. The environment is easy going and friendly while making sure you're pushing yourself to achieve your goals. It's the exact level of training we were looking for. Specific shoutout to trainers Natalie and Abby for making SSP what it is.

SSP has been an amazing way to supplement my cycling and tennis passion with highly customized programs and semi personal training. Marci and Libby at the West Seattle location are fantastic coaches, motivating without being pushy, and supportive of each clients goals. Fifth star is for Libby’s amazing music taste. 🫡🫡🫡

I have been working out at SSP for over a year now and I am so impressed! The coaches are all so knowledgeable and caring. Every workout is different so it is never boring. The atmosphere is supportive and is designed to work for everyone. When I joined in was not feeling my best, and I am so pleased with my progress. It is wonderful to be cheered on by such a great team.

Love Seattle Strength & Performance! The coaches are all very welcoming and knowledgeable. You get customized training programs with lots of variety but flexibility to focus on areas you’d like to work on. I always look forward to my classes because I know I’m training properly and with a great group of people!

I’ve been doing strength training for 20 years and just moved to Seattle. I was so happy to find SSP! The trainers are great people, but most importantly the programming is super well informed. There is so much bad training out there- SSP is a refuge for people who want highly educated trainers and rock solid programming.

I really appreciate how SSP focuses on form and doing movements correctly. It's also a welcoming, friendly place, for people at any level, whether you've been to a gym a million times or trying it for the first time. The mix of classes and personal training is great - I always leave feeling better than when I arrived!

I don't often leave reviews, but i can't help it. This place is really special. The physical space is a perfect size - not too big, not too small. The equipment has everything that one would want to get and maintain fitness. But the staff and the culture (+other clients) are what really stand out. Love SSP!

Our 13-year-old son has been attending the SSP Youth Program at the West Seattle location for about 5 months, and the impact has been incredible. In that time, we’ve seen his confidence in sports really grow. He’s active in swimming, volleyball, jujitsu, and Muay Thai, and he consistently tells us how much the SSP program has helped him.

He loves seeing his progress — whether it’s lifting more weight comfortably or noticing improvements in his overall movement. In fact, he’s told us that SSP is the single most important after-school exercise activity he does. That says a lot, considering how many activities he’s involved in!

As a parent, I really appreciate that balance of challenge and positivity. When I pick him up, he’s always sweaty and exhausted, but also completely energized and excited, talking about how great he feels.

The trainers are all excellent, and a special shout-out goes to Abby, who has worked with our son the most. Her guidance and encouragement have been a huge part of his growth and enthusiasm for the program.

We couldn’t recommend SSP Youth Athletics enough.

SSP has helped me overcome my fear of strength training! As a person with a laundry list of musculoskeletal issues, I was worried that training would be too intense for me but the trainers put together a personalized program for me that focuses on stabilization, gaining core strength, and weight training. I've been going 2x a month for a few months now and I'm already feeling stronger!

Thank you, SSP! (And especially Abby for being a complete rockstar as a trainer.)

If you, like me, need to outsource your workout motivation, then this could be the gym for you. The SSP community is so welcoming and encouraging, and the coaches, all of whom are exceptionally personable and attentive, create and keep track of exercise programs tailored to my goals. Not a single thought goes through my head while I'm here; if I show up, they handle the rest (thanks Abby!).

I feel like I have gotten stronger than I’ve ever been in the last two months since joining. I previously found strength training very intimidating. I avoided weight sections of the gym since I didn’t know how to use the equipment or what exercises I was supposed to do. The coaches and community at SSP West Seattle are so welcoming and fun. The semiprivate training structure helps me progress with custom plans and keeps me motivated since there are others training around me. I don’t dread exercise like I used to!

I never felt the same after tearing my ACL a few years ago so the strength and mental shift I have gotten through going to SSP means a lot to me. If you’re looking for somewhere to work out, I can’t recommend this place enough!

I was a member of SSP back when it was one location in SLU, so I had pretty high expectations when I joined again under the new owner. Since starting, I have been impressed with the workouts and coaching. The coaches I’ve worked with are great, the gym is inclusive, and the workouts are challenging. They are always willing give people any modifications they need without making anyone feel bad or making a big deal about it.

My one complaint is small and it’s the scheduling, I wish there were more group classes.

SSP is a great training environment and the coaching is fantastic! They’re actually interested in our fitness goals and not just selling swag/supplements. If you want to learn to do pull-ups, they assess your current abilities and develop a strategy to help you work toward your goals. The community is also really welcoming and supportive, which I think is rare in a gym.

SSP is the first gym I've ever ended up using consistently. It's a perfect mix of personal training programmed for my specific capabilities and goals, and classes to keep the habit of *actually going to the gym* strong. The coaches are friendly and knowledgeable, and the other clients are welcoming and fun to work out with (and hang out with at events!). Not a gym-bro in sight. I've been at SSP for a bit over a year now, and in my 50s, SSP has helped me get into the best shape of my life.

SSP West Seattle is such a fabulous addition to the neighborhood! I have been attending group classes twice a week since they opened their doors and my mind and body are stronger for it. The coaches are super attentive to your individual fitness needs. Recommend 100%!

I’ve been really pleased with my experience at SSP - while it’s more expensive than your standard gyms, it’s far more affordable than standard personal training, while still providing customized training, motivation, and good vibes. Expanding on the good vibes: it really is a welcoming and friendly place. There are folks of all ages, fitness levels, and experience working out together, with no judgement, just encouragement. I’m also really happy with my results: in a few months I’ve noticed I’m stronger, both at the gym in terms of the weight I’m lifting, but also at home, carrying things in fewer trips from the car, boosting my dog. Join SSP since strength training is for everyone!

I joined SSP last May after a recommendation from my brother. I went to the assessment with very low expectations as I have never enjoyed a gym setting.
Boy was I in for a surprise- I love this “gym”. The classes are small and intimate, the coaches are knowledgeable and attentive. I have never stuck with a gym for this long and I look forward to the classes each week. Except for burpees, I hate those. 😂

Finally Found a Place That Keeps Me Consistent!
I’ve tried working out many times in the past, both private personal training and group classes, but never kept it up. This time has been different. I’ve been consistently attending sessions at SSP for months now.
The trainers are upbeat and knowledgeable. My program is personalized to my fitness level and accounts for past injuries, which I appreciate. The friendly members are all ages and fitness levels.
What I was looking for was the right atmosphere, and this place delivers. As an older woman who hasn’t been particularly into fitness, I wanted somewhere I’d actually want to keep coming back to. The environment here is welcoming and supportive. It’s the kind of place where you feel comfortable regardless of your fitness background or level.
The combination of good trainers, a solid program, and a positive community has made all the difference in my consistency. If you’ve struggled to stick with fitness routines in the past, this might be worth checking out.

If you're looking for a gym that has a team who really knows what they are talking about, can create a program specifically for your needs, and have trained pros to make sure you're doing everything right and stretching you so you can continuously improve, then SSP is the place for you. They pay attention to you and your needs, making sure they understand new or old injuries, and truly listen to your priorities. He’s gradually building stamina, muscle and flexibility, getting him ready for his upcoming basketball season. Knowledge & training in the gym is definitely translating into power on the court. I visited the West Seattle location for the trial. While I didn’t continue on to a recurring membership, I did appreciate the time I spent with them. One trainer is present to guide four to six members. This seems to allow plenty of time for some one on one attention while letting the member count out their own sets. Everyone was very welcoming, including the other members. In the end, I decided my specific desired program and the freedom to schedule on my own time were too important to suborn to their schedule and program, but if my needs change, I’ll be back.

I recently joined SSP about 6 weeks ago. So far this is the first time I have actually found a fitness facility that is suitable for me. And actually for everyone. Not only they design specific workout for you, they monitor your progress and they also offer classes for people in general.
I also found this place very friendly, the instructors are not intimidating and it makes you want to show up in class with positive attitude. I have tried other gym and fitness facility around west seattle. This one makes you feel wanted. Members are also easy going, and makes you feel welcome. I love the owner as well. He is super humble, and I can honestly see how he cares for all the members, making sure that everyone feels comfortable with their workout.
If you are looking to get started with your health fitness, this one is a must try. With their design workout for you added with good diet, you will feel and see progress with your body.

I had struggled for years to get back to a regular exercise routine, and SSP has helped me get into a sustainable routine. Because you have to be signed up for a personal training session or a class, the gym is never crowded, and everyone has a purpose and a plan provided by SSP. No one is hanging around, monopolizing the weights, and there are no mirrors! There are lots of women in their prime years (40-60) with all different shapes and fitness levels, and I feel welcome and seen. The trainers check in with you frequently to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly and that the weight they have chosen is right for you, but they also push you to achieve and progress without being harsh. For the first time in a very long time, I look forward to going to the gym and challenging myself, and I am getting stronger. SSP is awesome!

I was interested in checking out the West Seattle location and signed up for a free strength assessment and visit. Sharing how it went:
>I got an email asking what I was looking for in a gym.
>The visit consisted of my filling out a lengthy questionnaire followed by an explanation of how they operate. I learned that their service offering is either 1:1 personal training or a small package of classes which costs $300/month. You can’t drop in and use the space/equipment solo on your own time.
>When I asked about the strength assessment, I was told it was only given if I signed up for a $179 trial that day. Their website didn’t say this.
>I had to ask to see their equipment in the small workout space. Both were minimal.
>I said I wasn’t ready to sign up that day, wanted some time to think about it and was told they would check in with me the following week to see if I had any questions.
>They never checked in, but I do now regularly get SSP spam mail.

SSP is more than just a gym - it’s a community of like-minded people who believe in the transformative power of strength training for anyone of any demographic, you’ll sweat, laugh, make friends, get stronger and feel better about yourself than ever. Over the course of the 2 years I’ve trained at SSP I’ve made lifelong friends, grown more confident in the gym than I event thought possible, and accomplished things I never would have dreamed of, like deadlifting nearly 300 pounds, completing a Spartan race and half marathon, planking with 45 pounds on my back, and so much more!
