Outstanding gym. Has everything you could ask for in a gym. Up to date equipment & wide open space. However, my main complaint is the hours open. I find it hard to believe that the nearest gym to Many Soldiers living in the barracks. Barracks consisting of numerous battalions do not have a workout facility to go to when most days they get off after 1700 & beyond. Why does this gym close @1300? When I was a young specialist in 1-23 SBCT living in the barracks, it was very convenient to be able to get off of work & walk right over to Sheridan Gym. Now especially with the winter/rainy season approaching I foresee soldiers will be even more at a disadvantage with their options to PT after work. I understand there may be issues with manning or budget but is there no way of compromise? It will cost the Army much more if Soldiers are not meeting fitness standards given the new guidance by SecWar. I apologize for the rant but this is a topic I am passionate about & will be looking into this further. This is my initial reaction upon return to 1st brigade footprint.

It's one of the best gyms I've been to. The only reason why I don't give it 5 stars is just because it closes too soon.

Olympic weightlifters paradise, power lifters paradise, bodybuilders they're missing some of your equipment. Vibes are good, well ventilated, very well invested in equipment.
Hours got better recently, but they don't have 24, and the hours still aren't great.
Update: The rig in the middle is gone, and now has lots of C2 and equivalent equipment.. which means pull-ups/muscle ups have many less options.

Great facility and staff! Thereβs enough space and equipment for tactical athletes to seriously train and never itβs crowded outside of 0630-0730. Recommend for powerlifters, Olympic Weightlifters, crossfitters and recreational athletes alike. Definitely a hidden gem on JBLM.

Good gym overall with a large functional fitness area. Wall space is a little challenging to find with all of the cardio equipment, but there are plenty of options. New-ish locker room, sauna, and shower facilities with stall showers, as compared to the bays of other gyms on post. Downside is that the hot water is VERY slow to warm up.

One star off for something simple but hey, you got one job.
Don't get me wrong, I have been to Sheridan several times, not because I want to.. rather because my meeting point with other soldiers is here and everyone agrees to meet here, simply because it is close by our barracks, just within 5 mins walking.
Legit, one of the best gym because they are heavily equipment invested, no joke. The place is always clean, cool AC, not too crowd, even their racks are neat and full of dumbells from whatever weight you need.
Normally, I would go to McVeigh, my first option. Well, for some technical issues, they are closed till Sept. Then I moved to my second option, Soldier's Field House, but let's be honest, definitely too crowd there often times. My team agreed to just meet up in Sheridan (most of us were from McVeigh or Soldier's field house to begin with tbh) to make our gym PT simple and less transportation, so I agreed too.
Needless, to say, today, not knowing the side door is only for emergency exit (I swear, there is no sign for that door to be an emergency at all let alone any alarm system built on the door for it to be an official emergency door), I left from that side door because I parked just right outside through the side door. With the knowledge that I do not need to sign out anymore, I decided to leave from the side door. The only thing marking that door is the Exit sign just right above the door, nothing else. In your right mind, you wouldn't think that door would be an emergency door. So I came out only to be stopped by the manager who drove past by telling me that I wasn't supposed to leave from that door since it is an emergency door. I don't know which sign that lets me know it is an emergency door because I came back inside and checked the entire section of that back door to find nothing saying emergency door.
You have one job, Sir. It's as easy as sticking a sign stating "Emergency Door Only" and set up an alarm system that gets triggered when people push that door to make that door officially emergency door. I used to be a manager for a restaurant before joining the Army and something as simple as this is never done in years, that really surprised me.
Please put up something appropriate on that door so people wouldn't mistaken the door anymore. Stop being lazy and micro manage everything and leave.

Great gym for the serous gym goers (the ones that donβt come in to people watch and/or play on their phone). Clean/spacious facility with a great staff. More of a crossfit/calisthenics gym (not a bad thing!), but does have some free weights in a small room as well as some cardio machines in another separate room. Restrooms look newly remodeled and always clean. This gym is by far, the cleanest, non-smelly, gym Iβve ever been to.

This place is great as far as the hours and what they have. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The gym is kept clean throughout the day which is a huge plus. There are a lot of options in regards to working out to include the cardio room. The only downside is all of the people that go here in the morning and do absolutely nothing. I canβt tell you how many times I have seen people on the treadmills at 0630 just on there walking, and I mean barely walking. An hour will go by and you will see them on the same treadmill walking at the same pace. If they are going to use the excuse of rehabilitation, do that at a clinic and let people workout who really want to. The weight rooms are just as packed so it is difficult to get a good workout in during the morning. Great gym but so overused.
