Nice and clean place with a lot of equipment to work with.

I am staying in Spokane for the summer and am working out at this location for the time being. Unfortunately the experience has been quite underwhelming. Some minor nit picks include that this location is small with only one bench at the dumbbells, and bench press only existing in the squat racks. The real issue with this location is the lack of a front desk. I wanted to bring a buddy in to workout (with a guest pass), however there was no worker and we attempted to workout until the worker showed up and approached us stating that we had to leave. I inquired about a guest pass for him, however she stated that they do not offer guest passes to those who’s membership is managed from another location (unbeknownst to me). Especially when the valley location allowed me to bring in guests for free (with worker clarification). We left without hassle and planned on returning with a membership for my buddy. However, I was then sent an email from my hometown location letting me know I was banned from this location for the offense with no warning! Do not recommend:(

WOW! Just reading the owner/management responses to the reviews is enough that I won't even consider a membership at this location. Beyond unprofessional and outright combative!

Snap Fitness Spokane South Hill is my happy place! I love the fact that it offers 24/7 access—it may be small, but it’s mighty in its ability to lift my spirits. This gym is my therapy; even on days when I just don’t feel like leaving the house, once I step inside, all my worries melt away.
I truly appreciate the spotless cleanliness and the meticulous maintenance of the equipment. It’s clear that the management cares deeply about creating a positive workout environment. While most members are respectful, there are the occasional individuals who show little consideration—arriving in dirty shoes or misusing the equipment. Fortunately, the rules here are simple and effective: return equipment to its proper place, use it appropriately, and change out of dirty shoes before entering the workout area. I’ve even captured some photographs of the less considerate moments as a reminder of the importance of mutual respect.
Overall, Snap Fitness Spokane South Hill not only offers an affordable way to stay fit but also provides the sanctuary I need to maintain my sanity. Thank you for being my go-to escape and a true alternative to therapy!
These are examples of mistreating the equipment and coming in with dirty shoes. Unacceptable!

Due to a physical injury, I had not been able to use a spot rack in over 10 years. Today was the first day I was able to do it only to be rewarded with an $11 fail to clean up fine because I accidentally left a bench underneath the squat rack that was already there when I used the squat rack. After a very rude conversation with someone via text, I have canceled my membership.
Avoid this place especially 11 AM to 1 PM as the cleaning lady who wears fairly inappropriate clothing will stare at you then
fine if you don’t read her mind and returned the equipment, exactly where she wants it to be.

Owner thinks it’s cool/funny to leave threatening signs up on their screen. With one being an actual photo of a member. Think twice about trying to associate yourself with a place with an owner like this :)

I stopped in from out of town, and while there were some obstacles and barriers to entry, once I spoke with the manager on the phone, she could not have been more kind and accommodating. There are some restrictive policies posted on the door about staffed hours, but nothing on the website, so please don't make my "mistake" and show up unannounced. Other than that, very clean, well-equipped for the sq footage, and quiet. Everyone during my visit wiped down and was respectful to the facility. I would have no problem coming back (after making contact to an employee for entry of course)

Single worst customer experience that I have ever had. The employee I talked to was incredibly rude and combative, and did not do anything to help. On top of that the gym seemed dingy and dirty as well. I don't go out of my way to leave reviews ever - but if you can avoid this place at all cost. I would give a 0 star if I could.

We've been going to this gym for 10 years. When we first signed up, it was great. Love the 24h thing. They had people there on site during business hrs that were friendly and helpful. But since Covid, things have gone dramatically down hill. There's negative messages everywhere. Signs on the wall [still] about being fined for not wearing a mask.Repetitive messages on TV monitors about it being a crime to bring someone to the gym with you.... and they'll fine you. Now, they've taken away jump ropes and other equipment because it's "unsafe". They charge an annual fee for gym equipment improvements, but there's still some equipment with torn vinyl.
At this location it's very hard to contact anyone for help. I would recommend driving a little farther and getting a little better service and a little better equipment.

Minus - five stars. The owners are rude and don't appreciate their clientèle. I went to a different location to change my insurance info after the owner wasted my time trying to get this info to them. This other location told me the location on Grand get a lot of complaints from other customers but since they are independently owned their is nothing they can do to help frustrated members. Go to a gym that actually has customer service and appreciates you.Save yourself the frustration. Hotworx is a 10 out of 5 stars! Infrared is the upcoming healthier way to work out anyway. Happy gym surfing!!
AND equipment is mediocre.
I just got this email from the owner:

So far I am enjoying Snap Fitness on Grand. It’s close to me, so that’s a huge bonus.
I am using the “Active and Fit” program so the monthly payments are more than manageable (around $30 a month).
The gym is clean and I haven’t run into any members that are jerks or dimwitted egotistical TicTok “influencers” - another huge plus for me!
The gym has everything I need in terms of equipment as well. Plus, so far, it has never been packed in there or busy to the point where I can’t use a workout machine/station or cardio equipment.
One big thing though: for those that are currently attending this gym - please wipe your machines and benches after you use them, and please don’t “hog” more than one machine or work out area at once - this is just common courtesy.
Thanks.

If you are looking for a small neighborhood gym that never has an issue of your favorite equipment being full and having to wait, then this is your gym. No classes, pool, locker room but the gym has a variety of equipment, weights and room to work out. I have never had an issue in being too busy - my favorite treadmill is always open. Just love it. Good parking too.

A solid little gym in South Hill that checks most of the blocks. It makes up for what it lacks (classes -- if that's your thing & redundant free weights during peak hours) by providing a generally uncrowded, drama free environment to crush your workout... Trainers are available.

I hate the way the business is run. Staffed hours for my location are not listed on the website so I could never get to talk to someone in person. I went many times during the week and no staff was ever present. Doors are locked so if you lose your card you can’t get in to talk to the staff to get a new one. When I call no one answers and there was never an option to leave a voicemail even though they told me by email that I could’ve left a voicemail. I’ve called many times; I really tried and never did it go to voicemail. My first time lifting weights two other members stood behind me and laughed and conversed about my lack of skill. The atmosphere feels very negative and not beginner friendly. Overall just a really bad experience. The equipment is nice and the gym is clean, but that’s it. I expressed my issues through email but I was dismissed so I canceled my membership.

I called to get some information on becoming a member, but was frustrated that nobody answers the phone; you just get a voicemail informing you the $5 charge on your bill is because you left equipment out. So, I learned there will be annoying hidden fees. I also determined the staff are just too busy to answer the phones, or to maintain the equipment. Not really a good start to a business relationship, and certainly not the image you want to project to potential customers.I learned all I needed to from that brief interaction.

Update: A lot has changed with this gym in the last two years. The whole staff has been turned over so none of the people who made this gym great are still here. The don't have any staff that are on premise and all their sales are done virtually so the gym is hardly ever cleaned or stocked. Equipment is broken and doesn't get fixed. They say to report any damage which I did multiple times with no responses. You can tell that management has really lost touch with their customers. I'm all about supporting small local business but this establishment really needs to re-engage with their customers before it's too late.
I've been going to this gym for about 2 years now. Definitely a neighborhood type feel. Always clean and rarely crowded. Management is great and receptive to suggestions. Not a ton of equipment but it has everything I need. What it lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality. It's nice to walk in and always see a familiar smiling face.

The gym is small and not much equipment but it gets the job done. The only reason I’m giving it a 1 star is because of the person who works there named Holly. She has horrible customer service skills. Always incredibly rude. I’ve known 2 employees who worked there and quit because of her. Which is why they are never staffed. Always greeted with with silence, unfriendly face and an unfriendly personality From Holly. I’ve heard a few complaints from the members as well. And yet she’s still there.

Updating this review to reduce it to 1 star.
Several months ago, my fiancee had an incredibly difficult time terminating her membership. Nobody was in when she would come by during business hours, calls go unanswered and unreturned, and emails were similarly useless. We resorted to leaving written notes at the reception desk, during what were supposed to be staffed business hours. Finally, after a hectic, tense exchange with management, we were told her membership was cancelled. Thankfully, we have retained documentation of these exchanges and contact attempts.
Lo and behold, they have continued charging her for the membership they told her was cancelled. This is, frankly, an alarming situation. Never have I experienced such a bizarrely difficult process for terminating a subscription in. my. life. I would strongly recommend to anyone reading this to avoid this place. I am not sure that these people have any intention of cancelling the membership or refunding the errant charges and we will be pursuing the matter on the bank's end while we also try and establish contact.

I would’ve put ZERO stars, don’t trust this owner they told me that my membership would end on December 8th, 2021 and I have continued to been billed for every month. They refuse to shut down my account after numerous phone calls and numerous acts of trying to contact the owner/boss lady that apparently gets all the emails. She won’t respond even though I have proof that our contract was going to end months ago. This snap fitness is a complete gym scam. The only reason I got a membership there was so I didn’t have to wear a mask during Covid.

Like other people have said, the equipment is fine and the gym is clean, but they have no accountability about enforcing mask wearing per the Washington mandate, even in the height of the pandemic. I reached out to management who gave me the PG answer of “we can’t disclose medical information about our guests” inferring that some had medical exemptions, and then went on to say they don’t want to put their employees in a place that they would be attacked. As someone who is often around people with vulnerable immune systems and has an infant at home, it’s pretty frustrating for me to see so many people “wearing” their masks under their mouths, hanging off one ear, or not at all directly in front of the staff every single time I visit the gym and nothing is ever even said to them.
All in all, if Covid wasn’t a thing, the gym is fine if you’re looking for something basic. It has enough equipment and a fine space.

I loved this gym and paid my membership even when I couldn't attend before there was a Covid vaccine in 2020.. It has a good mix of folks working out to keep it feeling like a great neighborhood gym. But this South Hill Snap Fitness refuses to enforce the mask mandate even when front desk staff are requested and there are guys working out without masks right in front of them. This is a high risk environment and a lot of older members are placed at risk. I emailed the "higher ups" and on my second try, received an unsatisfactory response about this matter. This is illegal and I reported it to the state. So if you want to stay safe, join another gym.

A great small gym with high quality equipment. Very well maintained and Arthur is cleaning the place almost every time I'm in there. Plenty of stuff for beginners but also some heavy weights, a set of bumper plates and a mat for power lifting, two squat racks, and nice kettlebells. Could use a dedicated bench rack so you don't have to monopolize a squat rack to hit your chest, but it's usually at a low enough capacity that it's not a problem. I've been a member for about nine months and have had a great experience with this Snap location.

I want to give kudos to Arthur the manager of the South Hill Branch. Arthur has been taking all the needed actions to keep the gym COVID safe. He reminded people when needed to keep masks on (at all the time), to wipe after using equipment. He made sure that the gym is within the required capacity by having people check in online before they show up. He was very professional in his communications to make sure that everyone is following the rules and it is a safe place for everyone.
unfortunately, I had to cancel my membership because the north side branch was not following the COVID rules and no one including the workers there were wearing masks when I went there on 1/19/2021 (COVID phase 1).
I had to cancel my membership because I needed access to both north and south branches. I hope that the north side will follow the same system of the south hill otherwise Snap fitness will lose customers or get shutdown. I already know other 2 people who canceled too because of the same issue.

This review is not comparative between Snap and other gyms. Surely, everyone who exercises, from avid to casual has something that they believe in fiercely about their current gym/fitness experience. A quick Google search and you know right away that Snap is neither a boutique or a glam/supplement filled gym experience.
I've been there and I'm not against those experiences. But I needed a break.
I signed up for Snap fitness because I was looking for a straight forward gym experience without the "peacocking"/comparison standard that can happen at other gyms. I feel like I can show up here and do my thing. The gym "audience" is small and for me, that helps create more of a comfortable and intentional experience. Who cares who's watching when nobody is watching?! haha
The gym is really no-frills but to be honest, it has everything you really need to get your workout in. For context: I do a blend of powerlifting, HIIT, and balance/core/strength training. I've never missed out on a piece of equipment and with the use of fitness apps, I can always find variation in my workouts. If you really need to throw a tire around, or climb a rope, you'll need to go somewhere else.
Lastly, there is a great community at the SH location. I've found myself, more so than ever while at the gym, genuinely checking in on members who I see during my time there. You may even find yourself inspired by the power and commitment of some of the older members. The staff will model this behavior as well. It might be easy to think of their role as tertiary since it's a 24 hour spot, but fortunately, this is not the case. Their personal training sessions look not only legit, but also perfectly tailored for their clients. It's refreshing to see gym trainers who understand the subtleties in each individual and can connect with them. Nice job!
Thanks Snap!

I was hesitant to join a fitness center for several reasons, the first is that all the ads of for centers are of young people who are fit and smiling while spinning or lifting weights. I am not young, fit nor do I smile when I think about working out. But I had the benefits of Silver Sneakers and decided to try Snap Fitness. My trainer accepted me with all my limitations and encouraged me to start where I where I was that day. Little by little, I became more fit and even smiled a few times. I didn't get any younger but I am reversing the effects of aging.

Continued to charge me TWO MONTHS after I quit. Came into the club in person on May 25. Waited for staffer to show up. Told him I wanted to quit. He had no forms or any kind, but he hand-wrote on a sheet of paper the date and that I wanted to quit, and that it would be effective a month later. (Took a photo of the paper since he had no sort of receipt to offer.) Was charge the full amount on June 3 (which I expected). But was ALSO charged the full amount again on July 2. I emailed them July 4 (holiday) and followed up with a phone call (voicemail July 5) asking for confirmation of cancelation and refund of the most recent payment. No reply as of the 7th.
They did reply a day or two later and issue a credit. In my opinion if they are going to impose on customers a requirement to give termination well in advance, they also have the obligation to make the termination process bullet-proof.

Does anyone even work here? I’ve been trying to sign up for over a week and a half now. No one call back, no one answers the phone, no one responds to email...I mean, what gives?

Nice little gym! Wish there were some more machines and a little bit more room, but if you are a bit creative you'll be able to get a great work out in!

Yes, 30 day cancellation notice is annoying

OK Gym, but it is very annoying when they make you do a 30 day cancellation notice. So you have to pay for a whole month that you don't even use, because obviously I want to cancel my membership! It is just a huge trap to get money that they don't deserve because I WANT TO CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP, why would I want to use it for 30 more days??? Not a good business policy, but a good money making policy for the company. They do NOT put the customer first.

I'm giving them a very low review because the telemarketer who called us lied about receiving a free membership and my wife supposedly signed us up. While I have never been to this place, I have no respect for people who call and lie to sell their product.
