My daughter has blossomed with confidence since starting at SSD when she was 4, she is 6 now. We have been able to put together a schedule that fits our needs and helps her become a success. The performances are wonderful and overall I feel it has been a great value for all of the memories we’ve made. I am sure my experience will change and evolve as the years go on but after being here 2 years I can solidly say this was a great choice!

Not great! Teacher’s don’t seem happy with their jobs.preparing for recitals were pretty stressful. Directions given to parents aren’t clear. I ended up purchasing things that I did not need to purchase because I was reading instructions that were for the other classes. My daughter wasn’t a fan. She only lasted 1 season and wanted to quit right away.

I took the adult ballet class and the instructor was awesome! This was my first ballet class since middle school and I absolutely loved it. There was also about 15-20 people in the class which was so cool to see. Definitely recommend this studio!!

Took the dance with me class for toddlers and it was such an amazing experience! My daughter loved it and had a great time. I was fortunate enough to observe classes here and chat with Ms. Hannah about some of her staff. As a dance major myself, you will not find more prestigious jazz instruction. The résumés and training of these teachers alone is a gem in this county. If your dancer is ready for the next step and/or wants to have a solid jazz foundation, that of L.A. caliber and beyond, this is where they need to be. Their contemporary class is also strong.

Would not recommend. They are disorganized, communication is poor, the parking lot is dangerous for kids, and the teachers weren't very nice with the exception of one. There are much better dance facilities in the area.

My granddaughter loves South Sound Dance. I love the customer service with the quick responses, the followup and always smiling faces. We had a trial to see which dance class she would prefer, which was a blessing. The smile on my grandbaby's face, the joy in her heart and the excitement in her steps is all I need to see. My girls have a good time here which is nice. Teachers have all been friendly. In the time they have been taking classes though, they have learned very little. Parking, dropoff and pickup is a pain. Communication has been lacking. It’s also about 30% more expensive here than at other schools in Olympia and Lacey after all the fees.

My 6 year old just got signed up for the orca ballet/hip hop class and after 1 session she has been dancing round the house using the skills she learned that day.

Prices for classes are also pretty great too!

This place is amazing. They answered all of my questions and had no problem explaining everything to me in as much detail as I needed. My daughter first enrolled at South Sound Dance in the “Tiny Twos” program. She instantly gravitated towards her instructor and I could easily see why. She was extremely kind and patient with her. My daughter has ADHD and finding caretakers or teachers who have the compassion, willingness or flexibility to work with a child with special needs has been quite the challenge. She is 5.5 now and still enrolled here. She has performed in 3 Holiday shows and 2 summer recitals so far. I have watched her confidence and skills grow tremendously over the years and it is always a pleasure to watch these performances as they are very well thought out, put together and entertaining. At first transitioning instructors was a challenge because my daughter grew extremely fond of and attached her first instructor. My daughter is now taking 4 classes per week with 3 separate instructors and loves them all! It has been beneficial to her self esteem, confidence, ability to work as a team and perform on stage. I just recently enrolled her in the fine Arts program and I have never seen my child so happy in a classroom setting. She didn’t want to leave and couldn’t wait to come back. We love being a part of SSD and it truly feels like a loving community we have grown apart of. I would highly recommend trying out a class here. We won’t be going anywhere anytime soon!<3

Fantastic. We are loving the orca ballet class for our 4 year old son. He asks me every day if it is time for dance class. We are starting the fine arts club too. I really enjoyed this studio. I took one free trial class and have now signed up for 2 classes over the next 5 weeks. The studio has multiple dance rooms. They’re a good size, clean, and the staff I’ve met so far have all been super friendly and welcoming. I’m extremely shy and get very nervous going to new places, especially alone and knowing there will be others there for me to possibly have to converse with. My dance teacher, Pamela, made me feel so comfortable and at home, I actually struck up a conversation on my own at the end of class! I think I may find some future friends here and I’m so excited to go back! I’m a very beginner dancer but Pamela made it very fun.

We have only tried the adult beginner tap class so far, but Anna is an excellent teacher, able to adapt to different dancers abilities and make it fun for everyone. I have not danced (ballet) for a couple decades, so it is nice to get back into a studio with other dancers and have some fun and challenge myself a little bit, too. I am looking forward to getting my daughters into a couple of classes soon as well. They are both quite shy sometimes, but both very much like the idea of dance or musical theater. Looking forward to a fun way to get active and be involved in the performing arts in the years to come with these guys.

I signed up for the trial adult contemporary jazz class and beginner ballet. The first class is free to try to see if it's a good fit.
I was very nervous because the last time i took a dance class i was 5 years old and I have two left feet and no rhythm.
Everyone was there to have fun, and learn, no judgment from anyone. I had such a good time, I canceled my gym membership and signed up for both 6 weeks classes.

My 7 year old daughter tried a trial class for ballet. We showed up in regular clothes. The studio was kind and helped us get her fitted for a new outfit and shoe sizing. We left with a full membership. I highly enjoy the zoom during class so family can watch. I recommend coming here if you have a little interested in dancing or just want to move around. I started dancing here when I was 12. I am 18 now. South Sound Dance has been such a supportive environment for me to grow and learn. All people truly are welcome here. It has been so wonderful as a man in dance to train here, I'm constantly challenged and pushed to be the best I can be. I'm currently on the competition team (Elevate) and it's all about teamwork! This is the best studio that I have ever been to. They’re so patient with me and they genuinely care about all of their students. I did a trial class for my 2 year old here. We tried a few other places as well but this one was the one she wanted to go back to! I love that it's a class only for 2 year olds. The other dance studios have a range like 2-4, which a 2 year old and 4 year are so incredibly different and need different classes! I can't wait for her to grow in this class!

Love this studio! I grew up dancing and teaching in CA, and with over 20 years experience I am pretty picky. I was excited to find adult classes at South Sound Dance. I’m currently taking the adult contemporary class and love it! After an almost 10 year break it’s incredible to find a studio and instructor that’s challenging, accepting and fun. I also brought my 4yo in for combo classes last year. She was struggling with separation and was met with so much support and encouragement. South Sound Dance's Fine Arts Camp (preschool) is phenomenal! We moved here in August of 2021 and all of the other preschool programs were full. I happened upon their program while looking for a ballet class for our daughter. When I tell you it was meant to be! Miss Cyrra is a phenomenal educator. I'm a certified teacher and I can say, she is one of the best educators I've ever met! She's a gifted educator who teaches a very science based curriculum using art as the medium through which the students explore the world. She fosters a passion and excitement for learning. Every learning opportunity is hands on, encouraging creativity, collaboration, exploration, and fun! Our daughter adores going to Fine Arts Camp! We're also members of the dance studio and the teachers really teach with so much love and care. The environment always feels safe and welcoming. I do wish there was a bit more diversity within the staff and student population but I suppose that's just the demographics of the area.

My daughter is excited to come back every week and has really come out of her shell with dance and feels at home at SSD. We also participate in the Fine Arts Club and have had a phenomenal experience there- Miss C is the magical unicorn of pre-school teachers and we couldn't ask for more! Wonderful people and wonderful classes/pre-school!

The teacher my daughter had was Great! But the studio is small and parents can’t watch the kids practice. The sitting area is extremely small so you had to wait in your car or outside while they practice. When the pandemic hit we tried to switch over to the online classes but my daughter did not adjust well so I tried to drop the class but because I didn’t give them their two week notice I still had to pay them for classes we weren’t going to take. I get it that it’s their policy but this wasn’t a normal situation. We didn’t sign up for zoom classes. We signed up for in person instruction and when that didn’t work I would hope that they would operate outside of policy and not charge their customers for classes they aren’t going to take.

We absolutely LOVE going to SSD! The instructors are amazing and my 3-year old looks forward to class each week. As a first time dance mom, I have been so appreciative of the communication and information that is provided to us on a regular basis. We are excited to be a part of the SSD family and look forward to many years of dance here!

Incredible staff with great vision! Love how they treat the kids! My 6 and 9 year old take classes and I take an adult class (I'm very beginner) and we all enjoy it!
