There's so much good to say so I'll try to keep it to the highlights:
I've been taking classes here with Kat and Stacy for almost 2 years now and still LOVE the classes. The classes are energetic, fun, and an actual good workout!
And best part, they're *actually* inclusive of all types of people! Even as a plus size woman with practically zero previous dancing experience, everyone welcomes me and works WITH me without shaming me.
The teachers are encouraging, kind, and respectful, the space itself is beautiful, and I can actually find parking which is amazing!
If you're thinking of taking a class, do it! Having a community of people to dance with has made my life so much better and I'm sure it'll do wonders for you too!
I've started expanding to take other classes and I'm still loving every aspect! My posture has greatly improved, my health is increasing and having a creative-fun outlet does wonders for all aspects of my health and for my joy! I tell everyone to check this place out, even if they're only somewhat interested in dance. Its such a great place to grow, explore and have fun!

Big love to Tacoma Dance Studios—I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Six months ago, I started this journey feeling out of shape, lazy, overweight and unmotivated. I committed to the unlimited monthly pass. That consistency completely transformed me—not just physically (down 35 lbs), but mentally too. TDS helped shift my entire mindset around movement and health. The energy, encouragement, and positivity you bring to the community is truly something special. Grateful to be part of it!

I’ve been going to classes here for a few months now, and all of the instructors I’ve had are amazing. I often go to the salsa/bachata classes with Steven and the community is so welcoming. Steven encourages us to better our technique while also having LOTS of fun. The socials hosted at TDS are a great place to learn.
Tonight, I tried a hip hop class with Drew and he was also so incredibly patient and approached teaching dance with such passion and emphasized that all people can engage in dance as a form of expression which is an excellent reminder.
I’ve also taken classes with Kat, Stacy and Ashley and they are all wonderful as well! Props to all of you. There’s a great set of instructors here and a community of supportive students.

I've had a great experience this past year taking yoga and dance classes at TDS. I've found all the instructors to be professional, competent, and patient with beginners (me). So glad I found this place!

I honestly can't say enough great things about Kat and the entire Tacoma Dance Studios team. I started at the studio about 8 months ago by taking the Beginning Belly Dance 10-week series and have been hooked ever since! As a middle eastern woman, it was very important to me that I found a safe space to learn and practice belly dance, and Kat has absolutely created that space and built a wonderful community of dancers from diverse backgrounds, experience levels and abilities. My life has improved in so many ways because of belly dance - body confidence, connection with culture(s), creative expression & community, to name just a few - and I accredit that to Kat, Stacy, and the entire Tacoma Dance Studios community. I cannot recommend them enough!

I started with the beginners belly dance class, and after that I was hooked! I grabbed a monthly unlimited pass in January and never looked back, there so many different fun classes and teachers, I've tried many, and I recommend this studio 100%. TDS has helped me gain confidence and control of my body in ways I didn't know how and helped relieve stress and most of all has brought a happiness to my life. Hope to see you soon

Super fun, very welcoming place! I have been going off and on (due to my own crazy schedule and family) and every time I return it’s been fantastic! I love the music and energy of Belly Dance Burn. Kat is a fabulous teacher and does a great job with all levels of experience. Just sign up—you won’t regret it!

Attended an event here, and it was a really cool unique event space. Wish I was wheelchair accessible though as some of my friends with mobility issues struggled with the stairs.

This place and space is an incredible gem. The studio itself is in a nice part of town, is very clean, and has nice little extras like snacks and coke drinks available. There’s even a store where you can buy dance costumes and accessories, which is both educational and inspiring. I came to the studio a hobbiest, and the studio has opportunities for all levels of dance.
I completed the beginning Bellydance series, and was surprised at how soon we were creating choreography, improvising, and learning the cultural context of the dance. In advanced Bellydance, we focus on getting comfortable in layering moves, and choreography to traditional songs. I’ve learned more in the last 3 months at this studio than I did my first 3 years of dance! Growth happens fast!
Bellydance Burn is a cardio class with Bellydance moves which is a great way to drill, learn rhythm, and sweat buckets. These are taught by Kat who is funny and generous—a great teacher.
I also go to Drills with Stacey. I LOVE this class and it gave me so much confidence and precision with my moves, along with stretches to open tight areas. It made learning choreography much easier, because my body is used to the move and its variations. She’s so caring, and gives individual support in class.
There’s other classes like Zumba, Salsa, Bachatta, and Burlesque! It’s been fun to explore. The teacher quality is very high.
Legit if you want to professionalize or have support to grow, it’s all here! Kat creates opportunities locally for performance (from full productions to solo restaurant gigs) and she seems to know everyone.
I absolutely love this place and have grown tons in a short amount of time. We are so lucky to have a local studio of this quality.

This studio offers a wide variety of classes from beginner to advanced. Kat not only owns the studio but teaches classes and is a wonderful person to learn from. Stacy is the zumba classes along with the new heels dance class and she makes everyone feel like their best selves. Honestly every teacher makes their students feel like their best selves. I highly recommend getting the monthly pass so that you can go to any class any time for one single price!

Unfortunately, I am quite disappointed by the studio. I came in some time ago and the place was gross while the staff was mean to me. The one bathroom and the only changing room are not cleaned regularly enough and the floors, especially the corners look like they are never cleaned. I talked to the main lady about her business and she blew me off. Not planning on coming again.

My first evening of the burlesque class, cheekily dubbed "Sexy in Sweats", with the riotously joyful, ridiculously sultry Ava D Jor was spectacular!
Ava creates a safe, light-hearted, inclusive environment where persons of diverse heights, shapes, and gender identities can learn, mingle and move, with warmth, intention, and acceptance. I left feeling healthy, loose, loved and grateful for the body I'm in.
Thanks Tacoma Dance Studios for embracing Ava, and all who flocked to her sold-out session!

This is such a gift to the Tacoma area to have a dance studio that supports all bodies to find movement and culture. I just completed 10 weeks of beginner belly dance with Kat and loved it so much. I feel more confident in my body and dance. Very inspired to continue the journey.

I completed the 10 week beginning Bellydance with Kat! The studio was great, always welcoming and cozy. Kat as an instructor was amazing. It was super easy to pay online for classes and see what was coming up. I loved my experience here and am excited to continue this journey in more classes!

It had been a long time since I danced and found this amazingly accepting space that has helped me hone my skills and ignite that inspiration to move. The biggest change has been in my self confidence and attitude as well as physical. No matter your skill level or body type or gender, there is a place for you at the studio. It's a beautiful environment and the people are fantastic and supportive through your journey.

There is a dancer in every body. This studio is that safe place you are looking for to let that dancer loose, to allow that dancer to grow, stumble, and get back up again to be met with so much love and acceptance. Sometimes living in our bodies can be challenging, but when you dance here, you get to leave those worries behind and just spend some time in your body where it feels good! This community is so welcoming and helpful. Such beautiful people have gathered in this wonderful space.
Kat Ross is one of the most dedicated, hard working people I’ve ever known. She has helped me to cultivate the dancer I have always wanted to become, and in such a short amount of time! I am in awe of how skilled I am in only 7 months. Come and see how you can surprise yourself too, it’s so much fun!

Amazing space to dance, learn new skills (Hula??), and meet wonderful people. There are so many dance classes to choose from, and more get added all the time. The studios have beautiful views of quiet downtown Tacoma, and are right next to some tasty restaurants. There's everything to love about this place!

After a hiatus from belly dance of 10 years, I decided to begin taking classes again. The classes taught by Kat have reignited my passion for belly dancing! Her instruction is clear and she is very good at explaining movements and encouraging her students. She makes dancing fun and I love the body positivity that she promotes in her classes. I would recommend Tacoma Dance Studios to anyone interested in the classes they offer.

I attend Tribal Fusion belly dance classes with Catherine on Wednesdays, and Belly dance burn with Kat on Sundays. They are both wonderful instructors that clearly explain moves, supportive, kind and full of energy. There are quite a few dance styles offered at the studio as well, I've taken a few tester classes with the other instructors and they we great too. The location is easy to get to, never have any issue finding parking on Broadway in front of the studio. Floors are easy to dance on, large mirrors and it's air conditioned!

I love this space. I take Hoop Classes with Catherine. She is absolutely amazing! Such a patient, caring and compassionate instructor. She does a phenomenal job at explaining complicated moves, and deconstructing them down so they are easy to understand and achieve. Catherine takes the time to work with each person individually and with a light and loving heart. Every class is so much fun! I can't wait to take her belly dance classes next! Dancing can be a vulnerable art. To have an instructor you feel safe with is what keeps me going. I love that this is a space where community can bloom.
