Ive lost 7 lbs of fat and gained 3 lbs of muscle in just a few months since joining The Backyard! I used to be a trainer and have worked and worked out in some cool gyms, but Sarah and Zach created the most fun and inspiring gym I’ve ever been a part of.

My wife and I love the beach workouts based on MovNat principles - learning how to jump over and balance on logs and lift/throw them over your head! Its helped me in my work building trails and just day to day in protecting my back and reducing pain while increasing mobility.

The best part - it’s a non profit! So, they help our community access their 20+ years of experience in functional movement/strength training. And, even at full price it’s still affordable (adult class prices are like $12.5/class as of 2025). You can even bring your kids and work out with them!

Sarah and Zach are some of the most patient yet encouraging trainers I’ve ever worked with - they guide you through workouts (v pushing you through them like a boot camp “kick your butt approach”) and I always leave feeling stronger and more confident.

10 out of 10!

For me the Kettle Bells and some of the Natural Movement workouts offered give me full body, well rounded strength that really works for me. Zach is very precise and attentive in his teaching Kettle Bells which helps me progress with more confidence that I'm "getting it" and not getting injured.

I highly recommend the movement class/beach movement class with Sarah. I’m a mother of two young kids, my days are full. But when I devote at least one day a week to this class, I am measurably stronger and more agile. Not only are the movements challenging, they are playful. To me, this is the perfect workout, a form of intentional and challenging play. Days at the park are so much more fun when I can play along side my kids when the mood strikes! Thank you Sarah and The Backyard for bringing this class to the community!

Great kettlebell class! I came here from out of town for a class to introduce me to kettlebells. I got a great workout and they were very patient with teaching me the basics without slowing down the class for the regulars. The vibe was really friendly from all the regulars. I'd recommend this gym to anyone for a fun way to work up a sweat.

This is an amazing place for kids and families! Our daughter loves coming here for classes (Gravity Fighters!) and open play on their awesome indoor playground. For adults and families, it's just as great. They offer multiple exercise options, and Sarah and Zach are some of the most enthusiastic, friendly, and encouraging coaches you could ever hope to work with. Bonus: if you have kids, they have an entire indoor play area to run around in while you get a kettle bell workout in.
