Good flow and good vibes. If you're looking for a community oriented studio. this is it. If you're looking for bougie corporate with spa water, you will be disappointed.

Highly recommend this lovely yoga studio. Visiting from out of town and dropped in for a groove flow class. The studio is basic (just one open room) but high quality instruction and nice vibes. Loved the warm (not hot) comfortable temperature.

Love Grinning so much, I've been to classes here and also at their studio in Greenwood. Community vibes and really great teachers, especially Ashish (his classes on the weekend fill up) and Arzu.
Parking tip: there's a lot up a block away on 15th

The Grinning Yogi is one of my favorite studios in Seattle! The space is calming and I love that some of their classes incorporate breath work. The Sunday evening Chill Flow is my favorite and such a great start to the week. Parking can be a little tough to find, but itβs worth it! Iβll be back :)

This place is like a little escape from the chaos. The studio is peaceful and smells amazing, not like chemicals or anything weird. The instructor was calm and really helped guide me into a deep meditation. Iβm new to it and they didnβt make me feel silly for not knowing what to do. After class I felt lighter and more clear-headed than I had in weeks. They even have little mats and blankets so you can get comfy. Itβs different than doing it at homeβway more relaxing. People were quiet and respectful too which made a big difference. I plan to go every week now, it helps more than I thought it would.

We got the opportunity to take part in a free community yoga in the area while visiting. Molly was our teacher and she was Excellent. Twice a month- I do believe- the studio offered free community yoga class w a student teacher. And it was the perfect end to our trip. Thank you Molly

Calming space. Great location for people walking to the studio. Those driving have to find parking (paid) which will unfortunately keep me from coming back to the studio.

Thoroughly unprofessional studio.
I had booked a pack of three classes earlier this year, but a personal medical emergency didnβt allow me to schedule the classes for a few months.
I wrote in explaining my circumstances and requesting if the expiry could be extended by a couple months so I could schedule the classes.
Rae responded letting me know they couldnβt extend the expiry - while unfortunate, I understand and respect that.
What I didnβt appreciate was how their response openly mocked the fact that I took such a long time to book the classes, that it was unusual, and seemed to guilt me into believing I was at fault - this was unnecessary and uncalled for, left a bitter taste and speaks volumes of the studio and their staff.
For a place that claims to be rooted in wellness and healing, their behavior is appalling and lacks empathy.
I wouldnβt go anywhere near this studio, and would caution everyone else - there are a bunch of other yoga studios in the greater neighborhood where Iβve felt far more seen and safe - such important elements when seeking mental and physical peace.

I absolutely love The Grinning Yogi! This studio is a haven for anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice in a warm, welcoming environment. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and create a space where everyone, regardless of level, feels comfortable and challenged.
The community here is truly special, and I always leave feeling refreshed and inspired. If you're in Seattle and looking for a yoga studio that blends heart, movement, and mindfulness, The Grinning Yogi is the place to be!
Tip: the studio is next to Subway. They have great new student specials on their website.

I booked a class for 12 pm on Friday and once I arrived the studio in Capitol Hill was closed even though it says itβs open online. There is no number to contact them. Wasted my friday afternoon, super frustrating studio wonβt be returning unfortunately.

It's unfortunate I have to give it one star because the studio is pleasant and inviting, but my interaction with one of the instructors, Jai, was not so much. She is the reason for the one star rating. I have been practicing since 2009 and I have never encountered such a rude and pretentious instructor as Jai. Both encounters were unwelcoming and unfriendly. She also miscommunicated (I would not be suprised if it was on purpose) information to the Studio Assistant Manager about my class passes. I followed up with the Assistant Studio Manager about my concerns and the miscommunication and my frustrations associated with it. The Assistant Studio Manager was responsive and assured me she will look into it, which I appreciate it. I think it's poor representation to have an instructor like this represent a nice studio.

I love the instructors! Can't recommend this space enough. The space can get pretty crowded sometimes so I would try to arrive a bit earlier sometimes to make sure there's a good spot!

I have been there twice, one was 4:30pm and another one for 6pm class. It was way overcrowded both times. For 4:30 pm class, I was late to class two minutes, which is earlier than the studios 5 min late policy, but I was not allowed to enter since it was packed already. I was offered a credit, but it is frustrating to not the get the service you paid for. I did not want to even try other classes afterwards.

Shannon Ryan is the best yoga instructor i've ever had! I love how mindful she is of what we are needing and what works best for us! She is authentic, fun, and intune with our bodily landscape in its totality. Both emotionally and physically! I haven't taken a class with her yet where I haven't continuously smiled! I wish she was in Capitol Hill more often!

I love Ginning Yogi. In a city that is packed full of yoga studios, Grinning has been my favorite from the very first class I took there. Warmth, generosity, kindness, humor. Grinning is the place you turn for all of this goodness while also having a safe environment to move your body.
If you haven't had a chance to check out their online classes, do yourself a favor. They're amazing. Or check out the variety of other ways they offer to practice safely - small groups, outdoors, etc. When the Grinning doors fully open again - and they will - treat yourself to classes there. It's going to be amazing to get back in Studio when the time is right.
Thank you, Grinning Yogi, for being there. You all create light and love in what can sometimes be a dark world.

I have been practicing here since 2016 and took my teacher training here! Wonderful community with welcoming and knowledgeable teachers. So happy to have found this space that has become such an integral part of my life. So much appreciation to the owner, Jamie, for bringing this space to the community.

This place has two connected studios, large rooms, more of a hippy interior and facilities are okay. Didnβt particularly enjoy the loud music but I knew that going in, instructors are generally good. Parking is very hard to come by after work.

I had an unexpected 12 hr layover at the airport so I followed the google reviews and decided to join Carly's groove class. Travelling for business I have been to over 30 studios. The Grinning Yogi is great. The flows were on point, almost the entire class was in sync with the music highs and lows, and meditation was easy to achieve with Carly's guidance. Definitely recommend all locals check this out!

To find this place can be tricky if you've never been. Next door to Subway sub shop downstairs. Instructors are so dang awesome and all kinds of yogi lovers welcomed. Beginners to advance with no pressure! Bring your own mat but they do have a FEW to borrow for the class. Parking? May I suggest the free angle parking in front of Walgreens?

Nonconsentual photography is not okay. I signed up for some sort of new student special here a while back, but did not return after the male teacher pulled out his cell phone and took a picture of me without so much as asking! It's always difficult to be a larger woman in a fitness class, because of the harassment and nasty treatment you receive, but to to take a picture of someone without even asking them (and it was clear from the angle/distance of the phone that I was the only one in this picture.) And what could I do? I was in an uncomfortable position (literally) and so I could not jump up to confront the guy. No way is this a "Safe Space!"

I absolutely love this studio! If you're looking for a studio that is warm, welcoming, uplifting, and makes you feel nourished inside and out, come to The Grinning. Each class is creatively different, each teacher brings their own flow and theme, and all levels are supported. When I walk out of class, my body feels loved, my mind feels calm, and my spirit inspired. Come exactly as you are, and leave feeling like you've just shown yourself some serious love.

I've been going to the Grinning Yogi on and off for the past two years - the following has grown, and righteously! The instructors here are great - Jaime, Adrienne, and Eva are my favorites. They're nurturing and positive. I've had nothing but positive experiences at this studio. I also like that the studio space is a bit limited so the class size doesn't exceed 20 people (give or take) and there are no mirrors. This is definitely a place to do yoga as it is best for the individual - not about comparing yourself to others. Very chill place and wonderful people. Bonus points for the mini massage they give you at the end!

Jamie is an inspiring and amazing yoga teacher. She encourages you to let go of things you don't need, while gently pushing you to be your best - on and off your mat. The Grinning Yogi is going to be a beautiful space where she can share her love of yoga with the community.
