About the Club

Rooted in Strength
We’re Rooted in Strength - and this Strength is so much more than how much weight you can move.
Strength is community.

When you come to Town, you’re joining a family. We cheer each other on. We celebrate each other’s successes. And the person getting the loudest cheers is often the person coming in last.

Community isn’t about where you rank, it’s about reaching your maximum potential—and then pushing that potential even further. Whatever your fitness goals, our community will support you.

Our community is Tacoma. We live here, we opened a small business here, and our members come from all over Tacoma to work out with us. Tacoma is our home, and Town is Rooted in Tacoma.

From the minute I walked into Town Athletics, I felt welcomed, included, and valued, by the coaches and members. I was visiting Tacoma to help my daughter and her young family as she recovered from a surgery. As a member of a CrossFit gym in California, I wanted to continue my workout routine during my three week stay. At Coach Cole's encouragement, I ended up participating in my first CrossFit Open while there and had so much fun! I was genuinely sorry when it was time to return to California - whenever I am in Tacoma, I will definitely be dropping in again. Thank-you Tacoma CrossFit!

Upon recommendation from several trusted friends, I began training with Cole to take back some ground with my overall health. As I crossed the mid-century mark, I realized I was far from where I wanted to be in terms of weight, strength, and energy. Under Cole's expertise and encouragement, I've began to take some serious stride in all these areas. Having a dad bod in your 50's is not a foregone conclusion! Cole has completely changed my paradigm on the activities and disciplines that bring about sustainable results (hint- it's not nasty tasting diet bars or spending hours on an elliptical). I'm so excited to keep up the momentum, and see real progress in the months/years ahead. Regardless of your season in life, it's never too late to prioritize your health. Working with Cole has been one of the best investments I've made in myself in a long time!

Town is the best gym I have ever trained at. I was previously a member at Vie and 10/10 recommend the switch. The coaches are excellent, class sizes are smaller, and the members are kind and friendly. Also, The programming at this gym is top notch. You are taught how to lift properly and safely. I have been training here since June and have noticed big changes in my health and fitness. This gym is a good investment. I cannot recommend it more highly.

Pretty much the best gym ever! I spent 3 months at Town while working in the PNW. I went to class regularly (4-6x week) and for almost the entire first month I was greeted by a different member saying hello, introducing themselves and welcoming me. How awesome is that? Town has - Great coaches, friendly members and a positive culture - just all around downright nice people who are motivated to workout hard and laugh and smile! I wish sincerely miss the Town crew!

Joined Town back in March and immediately loved the atmosphere walking into the gym. From the incredible coaches to each member in the gym it is the highlight of my day going to the gym to be around everyone. The coaches are incredibly passionate about their job and want each and every person to become a better version of themselves both physically and mentally. No other place I’d rather be at than at the Town. Stay Rooted!

I have been a member of Town Athletics since January 2023. As a middle-aged female, I was initially hesitant to try a CrossFit style workout, but I am so glad I took the leap. Here is my review of Town Athletics.

Expert and Supportive Staff:
The coaches at Town Athletics are knowledgeable, experienced, and care about helping each member reach their full potential. As a middle-aged woman, I had concerns about my fitness level and limitations, but the coaches have been incredibly supportive and scale workouts to meet the needs of an individual.

Inclusive and Welcoming Environment:
From day one, I felt welcomed and embraced by the community at Town Athletics. The atmosphere is inclusive and supportive, with members of all ages and fitness levels working together towards their goals. There is no judgment!

Variety of Workouts:
One of the things I love about Town Athletics is the variety of workouts they offer. Each day is different, and the programming is designed to target all aspects of fitness, including strength, endurance, mobility, and flexibility. The coaches ensure that the workouts can be scaled to individual abilities, allowing everyone to participate and progress at their own pace.

Improved Strength:
Since joining Town Athletics, I have seen significant improvements in my strength and overall fitness level. I never thought I could deadlift or climb a rope, but with the guidance and support of the coaches, I have surprised myself.

Coach Cole, a certified Crossfit instructor along with the rest of the staff have exemplified good quality service and training. Coach Cole has me on track to meet my goals of weight loss and doing the “Murph” thru a very professional yet patient approach. Coach Cole has me not only on track to meet these goals but has shown what safe and knowledgeable training is that prevents injury. Call and ask for Coach Cole or the other outstanding instructors at Tacoma CrossFit today.

This has got to be tops on the scale of rudeness. I made an appointment for a No Sweat Intro . I showed up on time. The person I was supposed to see was there -Cole- because he was told by 2 different people I was there. He never acknowledged to me that I was there and he was running behind nor did he tell the ones who informed him to say anything to me. I guess they don’t need new clients.
Severely dissatisfied and can’t see why anyone would go to this company.
Orange Theory Fittness may be a large organization but at least they make everyone feel welcome. Town Athletics is bad news.

I cannot express enough how welcoming Town Athletics has been! I came to the gym during a Friends and Family week, where members could invite others to see what Town was all about. I had never done CrossFit before and frankly, I was a bit intimidated. This apprehension disappeared on day one! The coaches are the best of the best, and the programming is thoughtful and unique. As a beginner, they make sure I understand the lifts and workouts (scaled to my level while also being challenging). The atmosphere is so supportive, and members are very friendly and inspiring. Because I jumped right in to regular workouts (usually there is an onboarding process), I have also taken a few private sessions with Coach Cole…he is amazing, so knowledgeable, patient, and a great instructor. He has a very good way of coaching that I have responded well to. If you have ever wanted to join a CrossFit gym that is challenging, supportive, and fun, Town Athletics is it!

Town Athletics has been absolutely transformational in my life. The area it has impacted me the most is in how I feel about myself, and how I relate to the world and others around me. Town has empowered me, and given me the tools, to continually strive to be the best version of myself that I can dream of. Whether I’m grabbing something from the highest shelf in my house, to facing something challenging at work, to hiking a little farther than I planned, I feel more confident, capable, energetic and prepared to get the most out of life.

What initially drew me in was an interest in CrossFit, as well as in learning the Olympic lifts. At this point, I have tried personal coaching, home programming, a more competitive-geared class, and group classes from Town. Although I love all of them, I think the best part is that they are all for anyone: the culture is inclusive, any excercise can be scaled, and the vibes are high!

With all of this being said, what truly makes Town special is the people. From the members, to the coaches, to the owners, the community is what makes Town shine. If I could give a 6th star I would!

I started at Town Athletics with my then thirteen year old son during the pandemic. The staff and participants at Town have been consistently kind, supportive, and encouraging. Their enthusiastic and patient support as we have learned proper technique and developed both strength and flexibility have been amazing. It’s been an environment where my son has been able to learn to talk with adults with ease, develop confidence, and learn both resilience and tenacity. I can’t recommend Town Athletics more enthusiastically. They are incredible!

I absolutely LOVE Town! Since joining, I’ve felt like I’ve truly found community. Everyone is so welcoming and supportive. (Seriously, what’s better than completing a challenging workout with your buds?!)

One of the things I appreciate the most about Town is that all movements are scalable, making it accessible for individuals of any fitness levels. Safe movement is good movement, and that is celebrated here daily!

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced athlete, the coaches are awesome and will work with you to modify any movement to fit your needs. They lead classes with intentionality and provide personalized attention to ensure proper form and technique throughout the duration of class. I cannot speak more highly of this gym and would recommend it to anyone!

I have absolutely loved my time working out at Town. The coaches are so supportive and knowledgeable in the movements we are doing. My technique in my lifts has drastically improved which has helped me get stronger but also lessen the risk of injuries. Mostly I love the community they have built and nurtured. I have always struggled going to the gym when it’s just me by myself. Meeting everyone and sweating alongside the other members builds a real team atmosphere. That’s what I miss from my competitive sports days and that is the atmosphere where I get the best out of myself. I can’t recommend this gym highly enough.

I highly recommend Town Athletics. I started about six months ago. Prior to that, it had been over two and a half years since I’d done any kind of serious strength training or conditioning. I was nervous to step into a true CrossFit environment, but I am so glad I did. The programming is well-thought out and challenging. I love that I can trust the professional (one of the owners) to do the thinking and planning for me when it comes to the workouts. I just show up and put in the work. The coaches are exceptional. They’re inviting, attentive, and engaging, and they are definitely experts in their field. I’m amazed at how frequently they recommend a small adjustment or mention one simple cue that dramatically improves a particular movement for me. They prioritize safety and scaled movements (as needed) but also push you and support you along the way. I also really appreciate the people who call Town their gym. When I first showed up, my fitness level was atrocious. Nobody judged me or dismissed me. They welcomed me and encouraged me. The support and camaraderie I have experienced at Town have been a huge part of why I keep showing up four days a week at 5:30am. If you’re looking for a gym, Town Athletics is definitely the place to be.

Could not be happier with my time here at Town Athletics!!! I travel for work and decided it was time to get back into a CrossFit gym. Hadn’t been in a CrossFit gym in well over a year and was pretty nervous to jump back into it but the coaches are super friendly and the community here is great. The coaches really push you during class. I was even encouraged to sign up for the open (my first time, thanks Cole!) and I learned so much from it. I’ve PR’d so many of my lifts with the programming here and always leave the gym feeling like I got a really good workout in.

If you have specific goals in mind, I would suggest doing private sessions. It’s helped me a lot with movements I continued to struggle with. I worked with Cole and I’ve noticed a big difference! He was really able to break down the movements and give me cues that made everything click for me!

Overall just a great place to make friends and lift heavy!! Sad that I’ll be moving onto my next contract for work but I’m so thankful I joined Town Athletics.

I joined this gym 6 months ago looking for a good group fitness workout to strengthen my whole body due to having lower back pain and tight muscles that were bringing me to tears frequently. I was feeling rather defeated in my middle age and wondering if that was it for me...the end of my fit days :(

I had always been interested in CrossFit but previously was afraid I was not in good enough shape for it or would hurt myself. I found that all the movements can be scaled so I could build strength and get back into shape which was really encouraging in the beginning. I am still learning so much and I have really enjoyed learning the new sports of CrossFit and weightlifting. The coaches are always helpful and answer the million questions I have about everything CrossFit related. The owners are frequently there and also very helpful and encouraging.

Since joining my strength and overall fitness level has turned around and I am back to feeling like myself after not having a consistent routine for years following having my first child at 41 and then working and living through the pandemic. I'm learning new movements and I feel so much better overall, sleep better, have better digestion, my mood is better, I feel strong in my body, plus have dropped a pant size. I look forward to going to classes and coaching and being challenged and humbled as well as encouraged by the improvements I see little by little. Who knew I could deadlift 185lbs? Or learn to do the snatch and clean and jerks and build muscles I have never seen before on my back? Wow. A year ago I thought lifting 35 lbs. was hard and amazing...

The people that attend the gym are awesome and it is so fun to work out really hard with new found friends. The gym is a positive place to be and meet people from all walks of life and all ages.

I highly recommend you give CrossFit a try and Town Athletics is a great place to find support in your fitness journey and to get back into shape as well as get coaching to get to the next level if you are a competitive athlete.

Thanks Town Athletics for being awesome.

I've been to many crossfit gyms across the country over the last 10 years, and Town is hands down the best I've seen.

1) Thoughtful, challenging, and safe programming. After 8 weeks here, my body feels five years younger, and I've made huge progress in strength and conditioning.

2) A strong, tight community of both casual gym goers and serious athletes. Everyone supports each other, no matter their fitness level.

3) An awesome group of insightful, fun coaches. Many crossfit places I've been to have one or two good coaches, but Town has a next level team. A big shout out to Kyle, Cole, Erin, Garrett, Jenn, and Mike for all their help and guidance. Thanks all!

I like to go to the gym and be coached. I want my brain to check out and I do not want not have to think about or managing my workout. I love that Town hires excellent coaches to tell me what to do. I manage so many other things during the day. This one hour is an oasis for my brain. From the greeting whether you are late or on time, the specifically tailored progressive training, the constant reminder that I am stronger than I think I am, and the amazing community that does not let you stay the same. It is a wonderful place to grow. I have found a level of excellence in this place that makes it worth every penny. I dare you to come try it out. You might love it. 💕 Thank you Town for pushing me to be better. I got pull ups back and I am climbing the rope like I did in elementary school. It has been a super fun ride.

It’s hard to put into words what this place means to me, especially at this stage in my life. I’ve been a member for almost two years now, coming from a mostly HIIT style training background. I was majorly skeptical about CrossFit but so impressed at how fit my sister was becoming having only been a member at Town for about 9 months at the time. So at 32 years old, I decided to give it try. I had basic strength goals like getting a single pull-up, being able to climb a rope, etc. and after about 5 months as a member I was able to do those things. In all my years of training by myself I had never even come close. Now, almost 2 years in, I am attaining physical feats I never thought possible and I’m so much stronger than I’ve ever been thanks to Town and their community of amazing coaches and members—who are some of the best people and friends around.
In addition to the outstanding class/membership programming, Town also offers personal programming, private training, and even in-house physical therapy, all of which I’ve been able to take advantage of and it’s given me such a leg up toward crushing my goals. I feel incredibly secure and assured going into my mid-thirties knowing that I can achieve whatever physical goals I set my mind to. And I promise that if you join Town, your only regret will be that you didn’t find it sooner.

Since joining back in September 2022, regular attendance at Town Athletics workouts has raised my ACFT (Army fitness test) score by nearly 20%. I also ran the fastest 2 mile on the ACFT since going active duty (14:00). I have no doubt that there is a direct correlation between joining Town Athletics and my increased score.

The instruction is great (I love hard coaching, shoutout to Jen). Ample class times are available as well. They do offer a military discount, so if you qualify be sure to ask about that. Best CrossFit gym in Tacoma!

I have been a member at Town Athletics for 2 years now, and it has been best decision I have ever made for my health and wellness. I have dropped-in to almost every CrossFit gym in Tacoma and surrounding areas, and this gym stands out as superior.

Why is this gym superior? 1) Most other CrossFit gyms purchase their programming from other entities… however, at Town Athletics the weightlifting and CrossFit programming is thoughtfully designed in-house by the owner. Best programming in the area! 2) The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely care about your progress and goals. At other gyms, the coaches just feel like cheerleaders… but at Town the coaches actually analyze, correct, and modify (if needed) your lifts / gymnastics / functional movements to optimize efficiency and results. 3) They offer other services besides weightlifting and CrossFit! Such as nourishment counseling and lifestyle coaching, in-house physical therapy with 2 doctors of physical therapy running their practice out of the gym, and 1-on-1 personal training and individualized programming based on your personal goals! 4) Most importantly, this gym has established a special community that truly makes you feel at home. I have met the most amazing people and have made lifelong friends!

Come for the amazing workouts, stay for the community. I love this gym!

I have been a member for over a year now and am still constantly impressed. As cliché as it may sound, Town is more than just a gym. It really is a community within a community. The coaching staff is very helpful, always helping members where needed regardless of their skill level. I have made deep friendships with individuals that I did not know prior to coming to Town. The programming, which is written all in-house (!!), combined with their ongoing coaching tips and State of Town emails, constantly challenges members to reach new goals and push themselves. Town has a unique educational element to it, allowing members to understand the “why” behind the “what” of each programming cycle. And all of this is done in an encouraging, fun, and safe environment. Thank you Town!

When I joined, I was never really into fitness and primarily did school sports for the requirement. However, thanks to the welcoming community and excellent programming, I soon developed a large passion for fitness that now has become a large part of my life now. On the fitness side, the programming caters towards novices and fitness veterans and is well planned. On the personal side, many of my high school life memories will be the pr’s I made, the wods I did and most importantly the friends I made at Town Athletics. I sincerely cannot imagine my life without this gym.

Great coaches, great owners and atmosphere. If you are friendly, honest and motivated, you will do great and love it here. They are open minded, and honest. Highly recommended, I am happy to support this facility in anyway I can. Keep up great work.

I’ve been a member here two years & have had a great experience. Top notch designed in-house programming that addresses both strength & conditioning very well.

Despite lifting on my own for the last 20 years, I have regularly set new personal bests with their programming, learned a ton of new movements I could never get before, & made a ton of friends a long the way.

(Despite reviews suggesting otherwise, I was not bribed with swag for this review 😂, but also why would you care for swag unless you liked the gym? 🤷🏻‍♂️)

I joined Town about a week ago. At this point I have been doing CrossFit for over 2 years but had really hit a plateau with my training. I had also forgotten how much fun Crossfit can be. Every day there is something new to learn and to work on. The coaches are fantastic and I love that they touch base with you regardless. So far I really love this box and look forward to creating some new PRs.

I’ve been a regular at Town for a solid year. The coaches are organized and care about helping us achieve our goals.
A good place for novice lifters wanting to get in shape for the first time or experienced athletes wanting a good community and detailed coaching.
In the midst of COVID and all the regulations put on small businesses I appreciate the effort and precautions the staff is taking to keep the gym clean and welcoming.

I've been a member of Tacoma Athletics for 2+ years. I love the coaches and the focus on proper form over just lifting heavy weights. The coaches are great and the other members have always been friendly. I've still got a lot of movements to work on (muscle-ups and rope climbs and handstand push-ups to name a few) - but I feel like I'm always making progress. The online coaching and constant outreach to members during the COVID epidemic has been awesome and help s keep me motivated. They also offer individualized training and the coaching extends to nutrition and supplements as well. Whatever your goals, the coaches can help you reach them!

I have recently moved to Tacoma and was looking to join a CrossFit gym. Town Athletics has become more than a CrossFit gym, everyone was so welcoming and helpful that in a few weeks I felt a sense of belonging to a community and wasn’t feeling like a stranger in a new city, anymore.
Coach Kristi has helped me a lot! She’s been very patient with modifying the work outs for me, since I’m recovering from ACL and Meniscus repair surgery. She’s also motivating and encouraging me and is genuinely interested in me to succeed.
I love being a part of Town Athletics and if you’re looking for a CrossFit gym with knowledgeable and dedicated coaches, this is the best place to be!

Started going to Town about a year and a half ago after hearing great things from coworkers and my husband, wanted to check it out after having my second kid. Was a little hesitant as I had never done CrossFit, but the on-ramp/intro class with Coach Kristi was a great introduction and I felt comfortable going into the classes. I love that everything can be scaled to you, and there is opportunity to grow in strength and ability. The coaches are also fantastic. It is a great little community, family friendly, and you can really make of it what you want, they really are there to help you succeed. We absolutely lucked out having Town in our neighborhood!
Even during these crazy times of COVID, they quickly adapted and moved online to continue to offer programs for all levels, and even more. It really is a great place!

I joined Town Athletics in early 2020. I had a friend that attended classes regularly and he encouraged me to join. I was hesitant for a few reasons: was I too far out of shape, I had a negative impression of CrossFit from meeting a lot of CF agro-bros, and membership is spendy on a teacher salary. I went and watched a workout my friend was doing and met a couple of coaches and decided to join. I was wrong about all things. The people that run Town understand how to construct a place that allows people to thrive.
It only took 2 sessions to realize what Town CrossFit really was, a dynamic, supportive, inclusive environment where everyone celebrates each other's efforts. The workouts are difficult, but they are difficult for everyone and the coaches are excellent at modifying or scaling them so that each individual can engage in the right amount of struggle. At first I was intimidated by some of the members lifting WAY more or doing more reps than me, but I came to realize that nobody cares. The only thing the coaches and members care about is how hard you push yourself. If you walk in the door to push yourself to get stronger, improve your fitness, and be a part of the team, you will be welcomed wholeheartedly.
I miss the physical classes and will be back in the gym as soon as COVID allows.

I'm a newer member of Town, but have nothing but good experiences so far. The coaches are amazing, and everyone of the members I've encountered are as well. Was getting in the grove of working out again, and COVID struck. The people at Town adapted and found a way to take care of their members even with the gym being closed. I can tell that they are 100% committed to my success, even in these trying times.

I came to Town Athletics in June of 2018 looking for something different. I was been introduced to CrossFit a year and a half earlier, but my motivation was waining. I had a friend who was a coach and her Instagram posts about the gym always looked so fun, so I decided to drop in for a class. It was amazing!

I thought I had learned quite a bit about Olympic lifting, but I learned so much in my first month at Town. I was doing drills and technique work I’d never done before and the results were instantly noticeable. I’ve always been a little scared of the snatch but it has grown into one of my favorite lifts and I believe this is 100% due to the coaching and technique work.

Speaking of the coaching: it is top-notch. All of the coaches are so knowledgeable in all aspects of fitness. They do such a great job teaching each movement so I feel safe and informed. I know that when I’m doing any movement, be it an Olympic lift or a box jump, I’m going to be guided in the mechanics of the movement so I don’t hurt myself and improve.

I cannot recommend Town Athletics enough! If you are looking for the place to begin or restart your fitness journey, then look no further! Jump in with both feet, and you’ll be in good hands at Town!

Literally cannot say enough great things about this box. I was a locums PA for a year prior to coming to Tacoma so needless to say I have had my fair share of boxes to workout in. All of them have been great but Town is special. The literal absurd amount of thoughtful programming that is put into our workouts is unparalleled. This isn't a what can we hit this week ie muscle groups working up to olympic lift PRs etc the quarterly cycles, MAP style days that build throughout the month, technique days etc and the overall willingness to see all of their members get better is amazing. The other gym members are all great, fun people who come from all walks of life.

Please do not hesitate to come try them out. If you're a first time crossfitter or veteran, there is a movement and class and great group of people waiting for you here.

I have been a member at Town Athletics for almost 2 years. DANG, time flies. Since being a member I have grown so much as a person and an athlete. The coaching at Town is phenomenal and it shows daily in the attentiveness and care from each individual coach. The programming speaks for itself, especially if you dedicate yourself, and are consistent in showing up (i mean what programming works if you aren’t dedicated and consistent anyway)... Over the last 2 years my technique has improved in all my lifts, my mobility has increased, my stamina has improved, and I have learned things I had never even considered trying before. The community at Town is what really tops it off though. Everyone is welcoming, supportive, and encouraging and are some of the best people I know. Town Athletics is more than a gym. It is an amazing place to find community and discover your best self. The Coaches are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and encouraging. The programming is challenging and consistent and produces results.

I had recently turned forty and had been going to a big box fitness center for a few years and had gotten complacent with my fitness. I did the same few things day after day and my results leveled off. I had heard about CrossFit and liked the idea of challenging myself with more diverse work outs. I tried a few of the other gyms in the area and quickly discovered the Town was different and special. The coaching, programming, and welcoming community was well beyond anything I had experienced. I did not have much weightlifting experience when I started. The Coaches are very knowledgeable and worked closely with me to develop proper and safe fundamentals. I started to see results quickly. I became stronger and more fit than I had ever been before. My fitness made me a more attentive husband and father, and more creative and productive at work. I have also made many good friends at Town. The members are very welcoming and encouraging. It felt like I was part of a team right away.

I would strongly recommend Town Athletics to anyone that wants to improve their fitness. The outstanding coaching and welcoming members make this the best CrossFit gym in town!

Top of the line coaches, dedicated to their craft and very knowledgeable. Clean and organized gym. Great people, great community, and growing! Was a complete game changer when I started coming here.
Just over 4 years since I first joined In these 4+ years I continue to be amazed by the continued development in the gym, the programming, and especially in myself. I'm constantly challenged and pushed out of my bubble and I find myself looking forward to the next personal victory which always seems to be right around the corner. Some days you hit it, somedays you don't but the support is always there. Regardless of what level you are at there is never judgement but constant cheering with professional coaching. Never in my life did I view myself as someone who could do even half of the things I find myself doing now. I rolled my eyes, when I first joined, at the idea of even attempting to do muscle ups, handstand push-ups, and various other movements at heavy weight. Little did I know it was a right around the corner. The people here.... they are what keep you coming back everyday. They are part of your family.

Town is hands down the best crossfit box in the area. I have been doing crossfit for about 6 years and been to dozens of boxes across the country. The programming, coaching, and atmosphere make one hell of a fitness cocktail. Whether you like working out with the early morning crew (you savages!), sneak in and out through the mid day sessions (ninjas!), or come kick it during the Happy Hour Wods (name not endorsed by and perhaps more like "rejected" by Town Athletics!) you will be welcomed and cheered on. All joking aside the community here makes this the best hour of the day.

I started at Town Athletics in November of 2019 after I had my 3rd kid. I was tired of having my baby “fluff” and no energy, and wanted to actually do something about it. I wanted my old body back!! I grew up playing club soccer and just needed someone to tell me what to do to kick my butt into gear. Thank you to all the coaches at Town Athletics for doing this! I started out weighing 154 in January and now weigh 134 in May. It’s not even about the weight to me- it’s about the feeling I have knowing I’m healthier because of Town. I’ll forever be a member here!!! Town has motived me in more ways than one. Their coaches are top notch and always available for help! I love this place!!

I also love the diversity here. It’s not just a gym full of “gym rats” ... it’s full of everyone all ages and walks of life. For sure this place is somewhere YOU want to work out at!

I started going to Town over a year and a half ago. Since then, I’ve gained a lot of friendships and am in the best shape of my life.

The On Ramp class to start was great. Getting to the learn the movements at a slowed down pace, laid a great foundation of doing movements correctly, and helped build relationships and trust in the coaches.

The accountability that you gain when becoming friends with other members has been so helpful too. You’re noticed when you’re missing and you’re not just another number, but people care about you as a person, and about your life.

I am by far in the best shape of my life. Town has pushed me mentally and physically further than I thought I could go and I am better off for it.

This is an amazing CrossFit Gym, and I cannot recommend it or the coaches enough. I'm a lifelong athlete who's always been turned off by the bad CF stereotypes, but these guys break every one of them and pull out the best of CF in detailed programming and planning. They focus on YOU, your form, and your health, not the numbers you're putting up. If you're at all curious about the CrossFit craze, try their OnRamp Program and you won't regret it. They offer so many different ways to be a member, so even if your life and schedule is crazy, options like punch cards still make it easy. And the community is real, from folks learning their way around a gym to committed athletes training for the Games, everyone will encourage you and make you feel at home. I highly recommend Town to all my friends and coworkers, new and experienced athletes alike.

I've been going to Town Athletics for several months now. There is always a positive atmosphere with a huge sense of community. Their programs produce results, results I can both see and feel. I was nervous starting at a CrossFit gym, however, they will taylor the movement or weight to suit your abilities. The focus is on proper technique and mobility, knowing that the strength will come. If I could give them an extra star I would.

They have their own parking lot, which is rarely found on 6th Ave, so a convenient location with parking is nice.

This was a good box to work out at for a short time. The coaching was pretty attentive, and I think that was due to the smallness of the space. The biggest downfall was that the drop-ins cost each and every time. I could understand where they are coming from, considering the size of the location. However, 20-25$ adds up after a very short time and if someone already pays for CrossFit elsewhere like I do, that gets a bit taxing on the wallet. I only went a couple times due to this fact on my 7 day vacation. The fee one time at 25 dollars probably would have sufficed considering I only went there twice. Oh well.

Town Athletics is amazing! It is truly an incredible place and one I am happy to have found.

I’m not an athletic person and I never played sports in high school or college. I was a runner…sometimes. I’ve always been naturally thin and haven’t paid a lot of attention to my diet or exercise. As 40 was quickly approaching and my waistline was seemingly expanding, I knew I had to do something. I know the chain gyms are not for me since I’ve had a membership to one for a year and only went once. When the motivation finally outweighed the laziness and apprehension of joining a Crossfit gym I found Town Athletics.

In my mind, when I first started, my perception of working out at Town was going to be photoshopped bodies, egos filling the room, and people judging because I couldn’t do a pull-up. While some of the photoshopped bodies are there, everything I had in my head or the idea of what it would be like, was wrong. There is a mix of skill level and everyone is supportive and nonjudgmental. I work out next to someone that is a pro while I am floundering around like Bambi on ice…and it’s ok. It is a place where I go in there and give 100% and it is ok that my 100% is not the same as the person next to me. It is a place of warm, friendly, fun, and helpful people.

This environment is in large part to the three coaches that foster this type of atmosphere. They are patient and informative. They push and correct but never make you feel like you are a failure or unsafe. They stress form and technique and I feel like they would rather have me get that down before I add a bunch of weight. There are modifications for everything that happens in the gym and while they push you to be your best they are also mindful enough to keep you safe. They are just good people.

I encourage anyone, and I do mean anyone, to check this place out. You will not regret it.

Town Athletics is top notch! These guys are professional and very knowledgeable about how to make you a more invincible human being. My girlfriend (yoga enthusiast) just started her year in CrossFit and is feeling and seeing improvements as well. She's totally hooked! The gym is growing with new members, and everyone is so cool! We already have a great community. It's hard to leave after the hour workout. I would recommend this gym to anyone who wants a lot of bang for your buck. I have been cross fitting for about 1.5yr, but am new to the Tacoma area. After trying a handful of surrounding gyms and feeling a bit out of place, I decided to give Town a try. It’s about a 30 minute drive from where I live, which at face value sounds a bit far when there is a CF gym literally 3 minutes from my apt. But I make the drive 6 days a week to receive the coaching and programming specifically through Town. These guys really know their stuff and impart their wisdom day in and day out. Personally, I’ve made several improvements in all of my lifts and skill work even in the short time I’ve been attending and can’t wait to get started every day. They have done a beautiful job of fostering a community that incorporates athletes of all levels, which, in my opinion, is the utmost privilege of attending a cross fit gym. Whether you are an established lifter looking to take your training to the next level or someone looking to try a new type of training, rest assured that each coaches' severe attention to detail with every member will help launch you toward those goals you’ve been aiming towards.

I recently moved to the area from Brooklyn and was looking for a crossfit gym to join. In my experience, the other gyms I was a member at were good but not great and I always felt like it was just about the money for the coaches. I also was not thrilled with the programming or facilities of my last two boxes.

That is why I'm stoked to have found Town. From the first email I sent them asking about pricing, I felt cared for. I've been a member for two months now and I can say I seriously look forward to class and am bummed when I can't make it in. The coaches are incredible and really push you, making sure to give you the individual attention you need even in a class of 12. The programming is TOUGH and by that I man you will get your ass whooped in the best way possible (ayy). You will see results for sure. But best of all is the community- I moved here without knowing anyone and it's nice to know there are some wonderful people at the gym who genuinely care.

So, thank you Town for helping me remember why I wanted to join crossfit in the first place. You guys rock.

I'm a newbie to crossfit but I've been a gym rat since high school. As a doctor who specializes in pain management I've seen my fare share of crossfit mishaps and was skeptical yet very curious about what happens in a crossfit gym. I decided to give Town a try and am SO glad that I did! The three trainers are top notch and their mission is to help you get stronger without getting hurt. They are quick to correct poor form and really work with you to make sure that you are not doing anything that you are not ready for nor have the mobility for as well. The guys are also well versed in how to increase your mobility, teaching you how to take care of your muscles to prevent injury and speed up post workout recovery. Not only are these three guys on top of your form they know what it means to create a community within a gym. I moved to Tacoma 2 years ago and was working out in my basement as I couldn't find a gym that fit my expectations. Town has exceeded my expectations, I'm now stronger than I ever have been before and I have a supportive group of fellow crossfitters who I can't wait to see every day. If you are looking for a gym that yields results with friendly supportive members and staff check out Town Athletics!
