I booked this studio through Class Pass and when I arrived the receptionist told me I couldn't take the class because they have been experiencing theft from Class Pass users. She told me she would call her boss to see if they could do anything but then when she asked for ID, while calling I told her I didn't have it on me and I usually just show a picture or the reservation itself. She told me she couldn't do anything because they were just robbed by a Class Pass user the previous day and they were arrested etc etc. Nothing to do with me. And honestly, not my business either. But it's a problem that I stopped my run to make the class and I booked it that morning. They could've let me know via email or canceled my reservation. Time is very important. It was a 6pm class so too late to book another studio and now I have to coordinate with Class Pass to get my credits back. Even if I ran home to get my ID, they wouldn't honor the reservation because of a previous theft which has nothing to do with me as someone coming to the studio for the first time. The woman told me if Class Pass charged me, they'd see what they could do for me... you can't return time. What a joke.

Edit: Class Pass charged me $12 because Urban Yoga never canceled the class like they said because they can't and it registered as no show. Only Class Pass can cancel or the user. The receptionist lied to my face like I wasnt going to find out...ummmm. I got a refund but it was a horrible experience all around. I would have appreciated if they just canceled the booking when they received so I didn't waste any time and have to deal with the headache. And it's really weird to lie about canceling so I wouldn't be charged when I would find out later. It has less to do with the ID because I live 5 minutes away and even with it, she said I couldn't take the class. Unprofessional.

First hot yoga experience and loved it. Staff and other students were friendly and helpful. They had a nice locker room with plenty of options to store stuff safely during class. Right next to a coffee shop for a quick post-class drink.

I visited Seattle and had an amazing cup of coffee next door. Michelle (owner) was incredibly gracious is giving me a free hot yoga class since I was there on business. The yoga class was absolutely incredible and Michelle helped me get comfortable for an advanced class. I really wish this studio was in CT. I would highly recommend trying. Post breast cancer, I felt truly empowered. Thank you, Urban Yoga for such a memorable experience led by an amazing married couple!

Urban Yoga Spa is one of the best spots in Seattle for hot yoga. The instructors are top-notch, the heat is perfectly dialed in, and the community is welcoming and supportive. Easily a Top 5 yoga studio in the cityβ€”highly recommend!

I've been going consistently for a month and have lost ten pounds already. I love that their classes are 100 degrees. An instructor told me that they are the only studio in town that heats to 100 degrees. They use infrared heat. The rest heat to around 90. I will keep going here. The instructors are really amazing, the studio is so beautiful, and I love going to the morning classes. They are challenging, but I feel so calm after and it's a great way to start the day. Perfect pacing for a vigorous vinyasa class but they know how to slow it down and pace for a newer class/student like they did for me when I came back after the holidays. I feel a sense of community there. I like my instructors. Can't wait to see more progress on my yoga goals and weight loss journey!

The room was extra hot and got to sweat a lot. Some of the hot yoga classes I’ve gone to weren’t that hot mostly just very warm.
Joshua was really great. I really liked his teaching. Started slowly then progressively gotten faster, the slowed down again in the last five minutes.

Any plan is super hard to unsubscribe. I have emailed them 3 months ago to unsubscribe because I need to move, and still there is no one responding to my email request. I haven’t been able to use the service for 3 months but still am getting charged.

I seriously love this place! I have been practicing Vinyasa Yoga for about 3 years and this studio has the best flows! Each teacher has different sequences so you aren't repeating the same flow everyday like most mainstream studios. Team is friendly, welcoming and encouraging. I hope to come here for a long time.

A little late in reviewing, but my memories of practicing at this studio are ALL GOOD. The community really smacks you in the energy when you walk in the door and then the washrooms and all the amenities, while perhaps could be slightly cleaner, were above and beyond most studios in terms of what they provide. But the best of all was the HEAT (what a great sweat!), the teacher and sequencing, and the music!! The music was loud and upbeat and singing together at the end was spesh! I'll be back! xo

I would've been a first time customer but they cancelled my massage appointment without even letting me know. They're available on MINDBODY so I scheduled through that app. I got there early then noticed they emailed me a few hours before, saying their massage therapist was available at 11:45am. They didn't say my later appointment time wouldn't work and there was NO mention of a cancellation at all. It was only when I called that they let me know they had actually cancelled my appointment. The employee said they didn't have my number, but they definitely had my email address and could've at least communicated that via the email they sent. They didn't offer any apology, discount, NOTHING. The receptionist started telling me about another business I could go to but by then I was done with them. What unbelievably BAD customer service...

I signed up for a one month trial in the fall. I specifically confirmed when making my trial month purchase that this was a single time purchase and that it was not a recurring charge. I have now made four requests to cancel the recurring charges and refund the unauthorized charges. I am still being charged and am awaiting refunds. I have no interest in leaving bad reviews... I just honestly don’t know what to do at this point.

Im a trans woman who came here for waxing.
I made an appointment and the waxer refused to work with me because I am transgender and she, "doesnt work with me because it could make her husband jealous."
I was barred from using the women's restroom by an employee.
A manager eventually talked the technician into working with me but she misgendered me constantly and kept talking about how she wanted to charge me more because she considered me a man.

I was not charged for my visit as I was crying as I left.

They have done nothing to make their space inclusive for LGBT people, and have not replied to my reviews or emails.

I highly recommend that you take your business elsewhere.

I'm a trans woman and I do not recommend this establishment for any LGBTQ+ people. I was promised a set rate for a bikini wax, but when I arrived the technician refused to work with me and continually insisted that I am a man. A member of the management intervened and convinced the waxer to work with me, but this was little more than ushering us into a room together and hoping for the best. Throughout the session I was misgendered, and my technician insisted that she charge me extra and that I tip extra because she said I am a man. I tried to visit the restroom as I left, and the technician yelled at me for trying to use the woman's restroom. I left the establishment without peeing, and held my bladder for 5 blocks until I found a safe place nearby with a gender neutral restroom.

Waxing, especially a bikini wax, is a very personal and vulnerable experience. Anyone who works with people's sensitive bodies should be educated on LGBT+ people and their needs.

As I left the studio I was in tears. The management did not charge me for my session and suggested another technician who might be better suited for me, but the experience was painful and will have long lasting effects for me.

Looking for a hot yoga practice other than Bikram, I happened upon UYS in 2009, when I was lucky enough to practice at the space several times weekly.

Since then I have moved to north Seattle, given birth to two amazing sons and watched one of my friends, who I introduced to UYS in the first place, become an instructor at the studio! I don't get there as often as I would like, but I go whenever I can.

What keeps me coming back are the friendly and knowledgeable instructors and staff, the beautiful space and the heat! I LOVE UYS!

I've been practicing for about 7 years now. UYS has the best group of students- mostly more advanced so you don't waste your time while the instructor gives details on how to do a downward dog.
Probably the most beautiful yoga studio I've been to- and the main room is pretty unbelievable.
My only complaint is in relation to 2 female instructors that were teaching noon classes as of a month ago. Definitely stood out as terrible.
Otherwise, this place is amazing. If you work downtown, you should be going here.

I have been going to Urban Yoga Spa for a little over three years. The teachers are all wonderful and the location can't be beat. Since there remodel, it has been much easier to get space in any class I attend. While at first the sleek appearance, downtown location, and lululemon clad yogis can be intimidating, I quickly felt welcome, even as a newcomer to yoga. The heat is perfect for hot yoga (not unbearable, but hot enough to feel like it makes a difference) and the teachers are good about suggesting modifications to make the class challenging for all levels. There is usually enough space in the locker room to store my bag, purse, coat, etc. and the showers are kept clean. Overall, I always have a great experience at Urban Yoga Spa.

I joined Urban Yoga Spa over four years ago, within the first week that I moved to Seattle. I have been practicing yoga for 10 years, and Urban Yoga Spa is my favorite place to go.

All of the instructors lead well, the music is good and the right volume, and the temperature is always set to the right dial. This is the place to go if you want a good workout or peace of mind.

The only criticism is that it's expensive and sometimes smells sweaty (in hot yoga people sweat, so that's part of it, but other times the rooms smell clean, so I wish that it were always like that). It would also be night if there were a greater variety of types of yoga available; most are intense and advanced, and sometimes it's nice to have an easy, restorative yoga class.

I can say with confidence that Urban Yoga Spa changed my life. I have been apart of the UYS community since 2010. I started yoga mainly for the physical aspects, I can now say I got way more than what I asked for!! I was apart of their Karmi Yogi program for about a year. I continued to take classes with all of their amazing teachers and started to take transformation on the outside but most importantly on the inside. Each teacher has something different to offer, from their style of yoga they teach, to backrounds from where they came from. They all have their own unique qualities and are very supportive. I started to feel apart of the community. In search for a yoga teacher training program I was starting to feel overwhelmed by how I was going to fit this in my life. In 2013, UYS announced The Life of an Urban Yogi. A teacher program that fit a busy lifestyle for this busy gal. Throughout my experience in teacher training, I bonded with people that I might not have ever met outside this community. I have everlasting relationships with new friends and I am now a RYT and teach at a yoga studio. I continue to develop my skill and teach some community classes at UYS. I still attend classes at UYS throughout the week. It's my home.

I have been practicing yoga at Urban Yoga Spa since 2009 and it has changed my life. The owners, instructors, and staff are all super friendly and welcoming as well as the fellow yogis, the classes are consistently challenging and evolving, and there is an amazing sense of community that is felt there. The studio space is calming, clean, and has an urban feel, it is unlike any other hot yoga studio I have been to. In addition they often offer deals on yoga packages and have several workshops and challenges throughout the year. They also always have amazing music in class and are always open to suggestions. I love UYS. It's conveniently located downtown, and they let you store your mat there (no lugging a mat to and from work--a huge bonus!). I have been going UYS on and off for over a year and have continually enjoyed going. The space is pretty great - clean, airy and light (when there's sun in Seattle :)). I've only been in their big studio, which really is the way to go when you're in a roomful of people... SWEATING! The studio itself is simple, nothing fancy and it doesn't really smell, like some places do. My main qualm is parking - I'm not a big fan of paying for parking, but UYS do give discounted parking at the 3rd and Stewart parking garage.

Back to my review...

The staff at the front desk are friendly, and the instructors are pretty great. I attended the Thanksgiving class and really enjoyed it. It was great to have two instructors, Kathy and Gordy, teach it as their teaching styles were both a little different. As for other instructors - Ginger is great, hard and challenging workout; I have gone to Jo's classes often, I find her class hard and so there is definitely a good work out, but perhaps one of the reasons I have attended her class most, is because she has a calming affect - her end of the practice message are pretty wonderful. Not only do I leave the class feeling physically great, but emotionally and mentally calm and happy. I'll definitely keep going.

Good hot yoga class, although it was extremely crowded in both the workout space and the locker room. Proximity to Top Pot Donuts makes it worth the trouble!

Great experience. Very friendly environment with a great sense of community and great classes. I love that they have showers and I am able to leave my yoga mat there instead of carrying it around all day.

I discovered UYS during a business trip to Seattle. It is hands down my favorite yoga studio I've ever experienced from LA to NY! UYS was my first experience at hot yoga. The studio is immaculate. The candles and music is soothing and the teachers are inspiring. I appreciate that everything can be rented (mats, locks for the lockers, etc.) since as a business traveler, I cannot always bring my own stuff. I try and get in a class every time I'm in town.

This is a great yoga studio. Ive attended the Restoration Class, Hot Hour of Hatha & Hour of Power. All are great, Hour of Power is a little beyond my skill level but you will sweat out every last toxin in your body in this calss. Studios are dim lit which I love and instructors are great, kind and knowledgable. They change up the schedule every so often, my only recommendation would be to bring back the HHH on Modays at 515pm! THanks UYS!

Best yoga studio in Seattle! When I relocated to Seattle I did a yoga tour of the local studios and Urban beat everyone else. The instructors really care about helping you advance your practice. They do adjustments throughout class and are always willing to give insights on how to improve your overall practice. I've been practicing at Urban for 2 years and have no wish to go anywhere else.

Excellent classes - varied, challenging, yet approachable. My personal favorite is the Music Intense. Instructors are knowledgeable and passionate. Go often and you'll feel like part of the family.

Want to sweat, become stronger and look fabulous?? Come to Urban Yoga Spa. I've been a member for three years and I love this place. Kathy & Gordy are amazing owners and the various instructors/teachers who guide you through Vinyasa flow or Hatha are excellent. You are encouraged to go at your pace, your skill set - this is not the place for competing with others - yet, you are motivate to compete with yourself - to push your set boundaries a little at a time.

I visited Seattle over the summer, and got to throw in a few yoga sessions at this studio--this is a fantastic place to practice yoga. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, and the space is very conducive to the practice.

I very much enjoyed the classes at UYS. The setting was nice and the option to do classes to hip hop or other 'urban' music was very enjoyable. I liked the teachers and the ambiance. The locker rooms were nice, but a tad small. For the price, I wish they would provide better shampoo in the showers - other yoga studios I've been to supply the shower rooms with Aveda and similar products. Overall, I loved going there.

I went to Urban Yoga Spa took a chance with a Groupon having never done hot yoga before. It was great, HOT but great. The class schedule was very full and convenient, the instructors were all different but every class I attended was a good work out. I haven't indulged in the spa offerings so can't comment there. But if you're looking for a great atmosphere, friendly people, convenient and well taught yoga check it out!

This is a fantastically designed studio, nice clean lines and peaceful environment in the studios. Jo is the most wonderful instructor, if I hadn't moved I'd probably still go because of her classes. It seemed like a lot of people were getting injured because they were pushing themselves past their edge, which is sort of the culture in some of the classes.

Urban Yoga Spa is excellent. The teachers are wonderful. Jo and Cassandra are my favorites. The studios are clean and well maintained. The facilities are exceptional. Centrally located downtown. I have tried a few other studios in the area and none of them compare to the experience, the workout, or the atmosphere at UYS.

Great studio with many different options. It also has a great location right downtown which was on my way home from work. I'd just pop out of the Westlake station tunnel and be about a block away. Very accepting of all levels and I can leave my mat there so I don't have to commute with it.

Urban Yoga Spa provides a positive, uplifting environment to practice yoga. The power yoga classes are challenging and envigorating, and the instructors are involved in each class to optimize progress for each yogi/yogini.

I have been to many yoga studios in the area and this is definitely one of the best. The facility is beautiful and the staff are welcoming. They have a great class schedule and instructors. I really enjoy the Hour of Power classes and they vary based on the instructor. The smaller room is a bit chilly for me, so I tend to avoid those classes if I can, but it may be right for other people.

Pros: Clean, modern studio. Relaxed, understanding and friendly staff. Validate for parking in near by garage. Ben is my favorite instructor!

Only con: This seems to be getting better but for some classes in the past few months it has been more "warm yoga" than hot. Keep the heat cranked, I come to hot yoga to sweat! :)

I spent some time in downtown Seattle last Summer and found the Urban Spa to be a great escape from some hectic travel. I loved the rooms, the teachers and the style of each class I took. Highly recommend you treat yourself to this oasis.

I am from California and I decided to take advantage of the new student special when I was on a business trip in Seattle. I am a fan of power yoga and bikram and I absolutely loved the HHH: Hour of Hot Hatha and HP: Hour of Power. The yoga rooms are clean and well ventilated. I used the locker rooms to get ready and there was ample room for the task.

I would recommend this yoga studio to my friends!
