Had an opportunity to meet Joe (owner) and Abadi over the weekend during their youth assessment class. I absolutely loved their attitude, their personality and honest interest in *developing* youth athletes with a customized approach that doesn't break the bank. Vice Athletics | Seattle’s Strength & Sports Performance Gym is hands down one of the best places I’ve ever trained at. I’ve been a personal trainer for over 15 years and have worked in many gyms around Seattle, and I can honestly say Joe, the owner, is the best gym owner I’ve ever worked with. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and welcoming. Joe has been in the fitness industry for a long time, and it really shows in how he runs the gym.

Even though Vice is a neighborhood gym, athletes travel from all over the city to train here—and for good reason. The energy is amazing, the equipment is top-notch, and the gym is always spotless. They offer an incredible variety of classes throughout the day that cater to all levels of fitness and performance.

One of their trainers, Abadi, deserves a special shout-out. He’s extremely knowledgeable, approachable, and always ready to help anyone improve and feel confident in their training.

Vice has been a life changing experience for me. I joined when I had a stressful job and was in overall pretty poor shape. I've been working out there for almost two years, and I've lost weight, gained a ton of muscle, and enjoyed the mental benefits and focus derived from getting fitter. I can't imagine I'll ever go back to my former habits. If you're looking for a strength-focused work out that will improve your overall conditioning and teach you new gym skills, Vice is the place. The owner and trainers are awesome at what they do, and just all around great people, who have helped me with my strength, conditioning, and diet. I have joined many gyms over the years while considering location, classes, parking, cost, coaches and everything in between and I’m happy to say I’ve been a part of the Focus classes at Vice for about 10 months and I love it. Abadi and Callen are inspiring and motivating. They hold me accountable and the personal attention is well worth the time and effort and I can see and feel the results! I rarely miss a class and make it a point to reschedule if something comes up. That never happened at other gyms, where if I couldn’t find a place to park, forgot my headphones, or just didn’t feel like it, I would turn around and go home. So grateful to have Vice in the neighborhood.

This is hands down the best gym in the Magnolia / Ballard / Queen Anne area. There's a strong sense of community and camaraderie without forcing you to "drink the Kool Aid" or adopt a certain attitude towards fitness (unlike a lot of other gyms, sadly). Joe and the entire coaching staff are very knowledgeable and know how to push and motivate you to get better. There's a great balance of strength training, mobility work and sports-specific movements, and no two workouts are the same.

Vice Athletics and all of their expert trainers is fantastic. It is a must To Do in my daily life. I used to workout 3 days/wk there. Enjoyed it so much and the rewards to the body were so great, I now workout 5 days/wk. Joe Palumbo and his staff are dedicated to your wellness. I’ve been at Vice Athletics for 4 years. The coaches are experienced and knowledgeable and the workouts are planned so you’re not doing the same thing over and over, but some focal activities repeat weekly so you see your progress over time. It’s a great balance of cardio, weights and strength training. No experience is needed for the boxing class (or any other class) and it’s worth a try. But I wouldn’t still be here at 4 years if it wasn’t for the people. Vice Athletics is welcoming of anyone, fun and encouraging. Don’t get me wrong, we work hard and sweat A LOT but there are lots a smiles along the way.

Vice Athletics is absolutely the best gym around! The team atmosphere is unmatched, and the 5am classes Monday-Friday make it easy to stay consistent. I love the strength training on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with monthly program changes that ensure you’re working and strengthening your entire body.

If you’re looking for a fun mix of folks of different ages and backgrounds, who share a common interest in maintaining functional strength and mobility, then you should check out Vice. It’s an independent small business, where you’re greeted by name when you walk in, and where members are part of a community. They get the job done, too. I’ve been going to Vice for four years and, as a pretty active road/gravel cyclist and cross-country skier, I can say that I’ve definitely noticed increased power, for sure. Both of my kids are high school athletes who train there also, and Vice keeps them strong and healthy.

Vice ROCKS! Been working out 3 days per week in mornings (when in town) for 2 years now and it has changed how I feel beyond what words can describe. After years of yo-yo dieting and fitness, I found Vice and it’s been the best fitness chapter of my life. The classes are great, work with my mom schedule, the coaches are incredible, the community is amazing and helps you stay accountable, Joe, the owner, helped me with a nutritional plan to enhance the results I was getting in the gym, I could go on and on. Classes are on the hour starting at 5AM on weekdays so there is always an option for my schedule. The coaches are amazing and so helpful. The community of people at Vice is an extra bonus. Vice Athletics changed my life. I have been suffering with back issues for over 11 years. With a pending golf trip to Scotland seven months away, I luckily found Vice in January of 2024. I did personal training with Joe for 5 months consistently and I haven't felt a twinge of back pain ever since. I switched to the group classes afterwards and I continue to go regularly. I was able to play 10 rounds of golf in Scotland in a period of six days without any issues whatsoever. I feel strong! I feel good! I put in the work, but I owe it to Vice. Everyone who works out there is kind and nice and accepting, no matter where you are starting from. All the trainers are fantastic. Just do it!

If you are in Magnolia/Queen Anne/Ballard area and are looking for an intense gym that does not use shame based motivation - just come to Vice.

Over 18 months Vice has become an integral part of my family's community in Magnolia. We were looking for a gym where we just had to show up and the coaches would push us to our limits in a safe and trusting manner. The member community is great to work out with - we are continuously cheering each other to go just a bit higher.

Joe (the owner) is one of the best teachers when it comes to training. He explains complex exercises in simple terms and the reasoning behind it. Also, he is not a big fan of cardio - which is great! :D

Callin (the head coach) is one of the best coaches around (at least for us). She has her full attention on you and is constantly pushing you to your limits. She is a big fan of cardio - not so great for me. Although my cardio strength has improved a tonne.

I have been a member of Vice for 12 years and during that time trained with Joe Palumbo. He is hands down the best in Seattle. This is not a big box gym, nor is it cross-fit. This is truly a functional strength and conditioning training program that focuses on strength, mobility and injury prevention. Joe helped rehab two knee surgeries – and I am stronger than ever. He focuses on form to ensure that everyone is getting the most out of the lift, and more importantly does not injure themselves. He has taught me so much, that I have the tools for life when I enter a gym, from dynamic warmups to appropriate cool down and stretching. I am forever grateful to Joe and Vice for pushing me to be the best version of myself and in the best shape in my mid-forties! A fantastic gym with trainers who care about you and truly listen. Well worth the cost. I went in with a nagging ankle injury. The focus on the entire body is helping me build real strength and stability, and really begin solving the hip weakness that caused my overpronation that caused my tenon problems.

The other awesome thing is the barbell work. I not only feel stronger, but I’ve had a chance to develop good technique in the big Olympic lifts.

Good mix of men and women of all fitness levels. You won’t get barked at here! But you will feel inspired to challenge yourself.

Don’t go injure yourself and burn out after two weeks at crossfit!

Awesome classes, motivating coaches, and good people. Vice athletics and Kaos boxing has helped me bounce back from a tough 2020, both physically and mentally. Tristan, Joe, Ariel, Cade, and Tommy are all awesome coaches; Tristan and his boxing classes are my absolute favorite. There’s nothing better than punching bags and hitting mitts with Tristan. It’s a lot of fun and his energy is incredible! The gym is a big open space and has good equipment for weight lifting, plyo, boxing, strength training, etc. And as a female, I appreciate the community and people who workout here (no creepers or d-bags). I’ve been a member of many gyms in the area, and happy to say that Vice is definitely my home gym.

I’ve gone to 5 classes at this point and have worked with Ariel and Tristan. Both coaches are extremely knowledgeable, kind and attentive. They know when to push you and when to slow it down if needed. They pay attention to every person in the class and you know they’ve got your back and want you to improve. About a year ago, I decided to get serious about strength, weight, mobility, and sport-specific fitness (skiing and mountain biking) and I couldn’t have chosen a better place to get after it. Half way through I actually tore my ACL, but did it slow me down? Nope - and in fact- Joe and team have helped me get stronger and more balanced than I’ve been since probably my 20s (I’m 49) now. I dropped 20 lbs in fat, gained 2lbs in muscle, have more functional mobility than I’ve had in decades, and For an old fart, I’m pretty ripped at 16% body fat. More importantly, I love going, and I go a lot, I train with purpose, and it’s awesome.

I had my first consultation and workout session with Joe Palumbo. he knows his stuff and understands my needs to get fit. I love the mobile app that is incorporated in my fitness plan. I can workout anywhere if I'm not able to come to the gym. The app has all the fitness videos that I can check off and complete each day. Joe has already set me up on a nutritional plan in the app. My fitbit also syncs up on the app. I love the atmosphere and everything you need to get a great work out. For a long time I followed my own gym regiment, a workout I found online, or just whatever I felt comfortable with and it seemed to work out just fine. I had always flirted with the idea of joining a CrossFit gym, or hiring a personal trainer but never fully took the plunge. I wasn’t gaining weight, and I was staying reasonably in shape so what was the point of hiring someone?

After talking with the guys at vice and doing a few trial workouts I realized what my workouts had been lacking. With these guys at vice my workouts are intentional and intense. They shape the workouts and nutrition plans to my specific goals and it clearly shows. I have not felt so good about my workouts, my body, and the shape I am in since playing year round water polo in high school. Now that I have started I am addicted and there is no chance I will ever be returning to any other gym.

Three cheers for Vice! I enjoy fitness and have tried lots of gyms and programs, but with Vice's help, I'm stronger than I've ever been. My teen daughter has also enjoyed the teen-only AMPT class, which has left her more savvy about fitness and using gym equipment safely. Vice's workouts are varied, never monotonous, and always challenging, yet I'm not experiencing the wear and tear on my body that I've felt elsewhere. The vibe here is really encouraging and motivating, with an emphasis on personal growth and functional fitness. Vice has lots of 'regulars,' and people are so friendly that I really feel like I am part of this community. I'm hooked!

Joe and Ariel are damn amazing at what they do. The programming behind the workouts is where they truly excel. No mater what your goals are (increase strength, loose weight, rehabilitation from an injury, get better at tennis, basketball etc,) you can get it all at Vice Athletics.
