Wow, 5 second automatic shut-off showers.
After paying for a month of access to the pool it would have stopped me immediately from buying a membership.
My hand was bruised, my fingers slipped and twisted, and ached for days after holding down the button and/or pressing it.
Will NOT be renewing my membership, ...fancy Mill Creek doesn't care about a decent swimming pool? Oh, that's right, they all have pools in their backyard.

I am an adult who never thought I would be able to swim. I wanted to do it but it seemed impossible and honestly I was scared. It was a mix of feeling like Iβve gotten this far in my life and have never needed to swim so why should I, but also the feeling of missing out on so many activities like being in a pool on vacation or kayaking. I finally decided that I wanted to learn. After a poor experience at another swim school, I thought to myself, okay I tried this and Iβm done. Swimming is not for me. This year I decided to try again and I landed here at West. Before my first class, I was very nervous and tempted to cancel. I pushed through and went anyway. Thatβs when I met coach Theresa. She explained to me the process of learning to swim and the importance of how to do it correctly. I really appreciated that she made me feel normal for being nervous and was very patient, encouraging and kind. Through our time together I have come to highly respect her and her method of teaching. It is very methodical and thought out. Her years of experience really shine through. West is also a great facility as it has plenty of open lap swim time to practice what you have learned. I would encourage anyone curious about swimming to give it a shot. I went from dreading the classes to looking forward to them every time. Learning to swim has been one of the greatest investments to my life I have ever made.

What started as a promising, well-structured program turned into a deeply disappointing experience. My son, who had progressed steadily, began receiving inconsistent evaluations after a management change. Despite attending summer camp daily, his evaluation showed a regressionβwith no clear explanation. When I raised concerns, I was met with defensiveness and vague responses also surprisingly rude attitude. Communication with instructors was discouraged. While the instructors seem capable, the system feels rigid, opaque, and dismissive of parent feedback. We gave this program six months of patience and good faith. Sadly, transparency and accountability were never part of the equation.

Very clean. Not crowded. A little pricey but worth it. Also water has less chlorine so your skin and hair will feel less rough after swimming here. Schedule for open swim is wide so there is no hurry.

Not worth the money. The instructors donβt focus on helping kids understand where they need to improve. After each test, thereβs no effort from the teachers to address the areas where kids struggled. The quality of swim instruction is poor, and the program lead shows no initiative to make improvements. Because they have high demand, they seem indifferent to how effectively they teach. Iβve been sending my child here for three years, but Iβm done. Sheβs been stuck in the intermediate level for nearly a year, and they still havenβt taught her how to do a standing dive.

It used to be a good team until junior, one coach single handedly pushed away multiple kids by giving them mental breakdown, making them cry after training, and showing no care during swim meet. They all expressed desire to quit swimming completely, until they switched to different teams and found joy again.
Based on the description, I honestly feel the coach, I won't name name, was too harsh. I understand the need to be tough on training, but there were too many other instances, such as didn't admit receiving an email saying the student would be late, didn't pay attention why the student was DQed, and obviously biased towards a few students.
All those students had been there for more than 4 years and they made a lot friends, had fun, until that coach. What a shame!

Quality of lessons is good, but this is offset by the lack of willingness of leadership to create a sustainable scheduling system. They have a system that I refer to as the "swimming hunger games". One Saturday a month you need to drop everything you are doing and log into their website for a 5 minute window to re-enroll your kid into next month class. They advertise the return re-enrollment time as being 1 hour (5pm to 6 pm), but in practicality most spots are gone within 5 minutes (I know from first hand experience).
Even if you make it in that time window, their website sometimes crashes starting 1 minute before enrollment time (likely because of higher traffic from parents trying to make sure they dont miss the registration deadline), leaving you refreshing the website continuously for 10-50 minutes, many times to realize the spots are gone by the time the website is up and running again. This is an unnecessary waste of time and source of frustration that happens as a conscious decision of leadership to maintain a scheduling system that is non-functional.
Despite bringing this to their attention, they have been unwilling to change a system that leads to unacceptable moments of struggle for parents. I write this review exactly after this situation happened once more to me today . Having to drop all Saturday plans to log into a website that crashed exactly when you need to use it (currently almost 25 minutes of having to refresh the webpage to no response). Look at all the other negative reviews, the most common thread is their registration process.
There are other places that also provide good swimming lessons and where leadership is willing to create a system that is functional. Enroll your kids in one of those other places if possible. I would say that if they were willing to change the system, this would actually be a good place to go for swimming lessons.
UPDATE: was able to register the kids for one more month after refreshing the website for over 50 minutes. A totally unnecessary waste of time during a Saturday. They can only get away with this due to the demand for classes outpacing the availability of lessons. Once other swimming schools continue opening nearby (increased availability), they will loose customers.

Great program with great staff. While there may be reviews about the registration process, I think that's really unfair as signing up for anything is always stressful. We all remember trying to sign up for college classes right? If anything I would argue that the fact that their classes fill so quickly speaks for itself. Would recommend! 100%

West Coast is such a great swim program. Their class sizes are small and the instructors very experienced and attentive to each studentβs level and abilities, working with them until they master the skills. I have had each of my 6 kids enrolled off and on over the last 15 months through the school year and summer offerings. My oldest kids had a variety of instructors during the evening offerings for after school and my youngest kids have thrived with Henry as their weekday morning instructor from beginning classes through the intermediate levels as well.
The admin staff is super helpful and a great resource for questions. Shout out to Brooklynn!
Yes, registration can be a huge pain but I think thatβs to be expected for any high demand organization (which this is). The servers can only handle so much and should not be a reflection of all that West Coast has to offer.
I am so pleased that West Coast offers such excellence in their program that encompasses both safety (which is a huge priority for me), but also the benefits of swimming as a lifestyle and a quality form of healthy exercise for oneβs entire life.
They are always looking for new ways to enhance and better their program as it grows.
Truly worth every single penny.

If you are interested in enrolling your child,
please look elsewhere.
Their beginner classes are a joke.
Your child is in a class with 3-4 other kids. He or she will only be in the water about 10 minutes total in a 30 or 45 min long class because everyone has to take a turn. The teachers are young college or high school kids who had never dealt with little children, so they easily take about 10 minutes dealing with disruptive kids in the class or fixing the kids' swim goggles. There are two managerial staffs that are either rude or too busy to talk to the parents. They don't have time for you. They'll tell you to look online.
Overall, It is a poorly operated system that feed on parents to ultimately fund the West Coast swim team.
Your children will NOT learn how to swim here.
I can tell you that much.

Our kids took lessons here for over a year and had wonderful experiences with their coaches. Water safety is a priority and the coaches were positive and encouraging, without forcing anything that could create a negative experience for them. I have not taken the classes yet so I don't know if they are good. I called them and wanted to ask about their classes. No one picked up phones. I had to email them and finally heard back after one day. I had to email back and forward for 10+ emails and finally to heard that my kids are not eligible to the level they are providing. I asked in the email if we can just have a phone conversation instead of emails. I have no time to keep typing emails. The management said no, they can only communicate via email. I am a busy person, I don't have time to sit in front of computer and typed 10+ emails just to know if I can enrolled my kids to classes. If they want to do business, pick up the phones and communicate!!!

My 4 year old son joined swimming with so much excitement in March 2022 and now he is losing interest because of the teaching staff. Every month when they evaluate him to transition from beginner 1 to beginner 2 he is not able to go to the next level because he is not able to clear 2 check boxes from the 8 checkboxes. This is the case from last 4 months(including the Summer classes which he used attend everyday)
My Problem is why the coaching staff not focusing on areas he is weak in and help him to move to next level. After every assessment is disappointed and he is losing interest thanks to teachers.
When we tried to express the same to the management they take no responsibility in helping my son.
Also when he repeats the class he is done with his routine in 5 mins and 25 mins he sitting at side of the pool waiting for his turn when new kids to get comfortable with water
I wish someone from management takes a notice at this review and help my son not to loose interest in swimming rather make it a enjoyable experience

We have done lessons on & off since January 2021 when things started opening up again. We participate in a lot of different activities and tried swimming lessons a little closer to home like the YMCA Mukilteo and Lynnwood Rec Center and HANDS DOWN, West Coast has the best progression system, consistency, and communication for their instructors. I think the instructors are mostly high school aged, but they are mature enough to focus on the students, watch them, and give instruction. That was not the case in our other experiences. Both of our girls are competent in the water, but West Coast has shaped and refined their technique. We haven't tried summer team, comp team or swim team because of our schedules and keeping their activities varied, but hope to participate soon.
I understand the comments about the lack of parent/instructor communication and one improvement note I may add is 'maybe' after the first class and the last class that the instructor touches base with the parent so there is some verbal feedback on what the student does well and what they need to work on. Sometimes it's good to do this in-front of the student as well so they have a moment to receive a pat on the back and be able to set the next goal -

Update:
So we returned to West Coast again few months ago based on good feedback from friends. It looks like customer service and management team have been largely replaced. I see more smilingfaces and excellent response to questions and communication. My son loves his coaches and is making progress.
Good training but staff is very unfriendly. I have been taking my kid there for two months now and I can honestly say I did not receive a smile, a greeting or a single welcome any time we walkee in there. It is total silence!!! Based on the good reviews here, am thinking others got a different treatment than me and my son.
Will not renew the membership for now and will look for an alternative. It is not a good experience to be singled out because you look different.
Update:
When we first signed up, it was already one session into the month. I was told my son would get a make up session for it. I have been trying to arrange for that one make up session for two weeks now. Staff would not give me a direct no. Instead, they passed me on from one to another and ignored my email!! Very unprofession, so I am down grading it to one star only because Google won't let me take the last one away!

This place is too popular to be in there i guess. A little crowded for batch schedule. Place is clean n awesome. Coaching staffs are good, patient with kids, safety practiced all times. My son's fear for water is gone but it was slow. But progress wise I would not complain because the batch programs are not like private trainings. You don't get that individual concentration all the time in there. Price wise I would say not that costly as compared to other training centers out. Would recommend it.

Based on two sessions experience, some members of staff are rude. Since they randomly place students ( old + new together) in the class, considerable amount of time is wasted of the instructor in setting up glasses, caps of student which is loss of other students ( out of 30mins 10mins are wasted on average in it.)

Great pool, good people running the pool...excellent instructors teaching young kids. However, I would rethink taking my child in to learn how to swim from scratch. Teachers wonβt push the child very hard at all to go under water, for example..or jump from the side. Of course I havenβt gotten very far teacher her either, risking a meltdown...guess sheβll learn when sheβs ready.

Parents, please don't expect any professional training from this aquatics if you are plqanning to enroll your kid into swim team.
Coaches are not trained here to connect with kids on individual level to let them know where they need to focus and how they can improve on technical aspects.
If you as a parent try to get feedback about your kid progress, then you can expect unprofessional replies from coaches and even from their management.
I am highly disappointed and don''t want any other parent to get disappointed after investing efforts, time ansd money into your kid to be a good swimmer.

Nice place to learn how to swim. Took my son here for a few lessons. We decided to take a break for a while, as he just wasn't feeling it anymore. I made him tough it out until the end hoping he would change his mind. At any rate, i don't really have any problems with this place, just a general suggestion. I wished the swimming instructors would have taken a few seconds to demonstrate what they were trying to teach. Not all kids/ people learn by just being told what to do. Some benefit additionally by seeing said action. Apart from that one suggestion, it was good. My son did mention he wished they made it just a tad bit more fun and less like work/ school. Told him it's a swimming school... you get what you get. We will more than likely return in the future, as i said before, it's a nice place to learn how to swim. Check em out.
