Amazing gym, great staff, plenty of space and equipment. BUT PLEASE STOP TURNING OFF THE STEAM ROOM AT 10pm. It’s the one thing that really sets you apart from the other health clubs and some of your clients drive long distances just to enjoy the steam room. Thank you!!!
EDIT: I left the original post so that there was clarity, but I came back to amend my review. The front desk rep stopped me on my way in today just to let me know that the timer was never reset after we went back an hour.. Makes complete sense lol. Thank you for taking the time to investigate and for letting me know!! (spacing on your name sorry.). This gym is the best in the city 🙌.

Extreme safety hazard and untrained staff on Tuesday 11/4 closing time. The lights were turned off completely—pitch black—while I was in the middle of a set. I fully acknowledge the 11 PM closing time, but the lights went out at 10:56 PM, leaving me to use my phone flashlight just to find my way out.
The trainer on duty was aware that people were still inside yet did nothing to ensure a safe closing process. This is unacceptable and dangerous.
Advice to management: Please prioritize safety over hastily clearing the floor. A simple verbal or light-based warning would have been sufficient. I’ve been going here for a year and this has never happened before, but this experience left a really poor impression. Not safe, not professional, and definitely not a good look.

Typical scam gym that won’t let you cancel unless you come in person. Completely and entirely unnecessary.
What happens if you have moved away and need to fly across the world to cancel your membership? Ridiculous customer hostile nonsense.

I love this place. It’s not flashy or over the top. Which means (thankfully) it’s not a place for influencers to show off. You get in, you get to work. What more can you ask for?
The trainer packages are well worth it. A special shout out to Jason who has been a master of making things feel possible for this old dude.

I went to cancel my membership here after some time of not utilizing the service. They refused to cancel it over the phone and there is no option to do it on the website. They told me I could only do it in person or through a handwritten letter.
I thought the gym itself and the service they provide was great, but this business practice is predatory and I would not have given them money in the first place.

So outdated, over priced and ridiculous fees for absolutely no reason. A $50 fee to upgrade equipment? The equipment in this place was completely outdated and it looked old. Not to mention to start going there you have to pay almost $350 to get started 😂😂😂
The most absurd gym I’ve been to in a while. Too bad because they are down the street from our million dollar home!

Just joined for 3 months, seems like the best value right now for plans. This club is very similar to the Highland Athletic Club that is now closed in Burien, spacious just without a running track and basketball court. I searched for a while and this was the best deal going for what it offered.

Friendly staff and large facility. I genuinely enjoy going here, and have been a member for two years. However, there are some huge missed opportunities here and some fixes management needs to make.
My biggest complaint: There are two big rooms that sit empty and locked on the second floor when there aren’t classes. Why????? Open them so people have room to roam when it’s crowded in here during the peak after-work hours. You’ve already done that with a couple of rooms, but there needs to be more open space for people to dance, do plyometrics, etc. Your members will be so happy with this, I promise. Your weight room gets so damn crowded.
Second: Lots of machines break and it takes a while to fix them. A large number of the treadmills straight up do not work.
Also, management needs to fix the damn soap dispensers. It’s embarrassing. Every single bathroom has dumb soap dispensers that you have to wave your hand under to get a microscopic amount of foamy soap.
You charge a facility fee every year and I have no idea where it goes.

UPDATED:: The manager and sales manager seem very out of touch. The only insurance based fitness program they accept is renew from United Healthcare. If you have any other healthcare, you can’t use your silver sneakers, which is unfortunate because UnitedHealthcare is awful. if you have Blue Shield or Aetna or Humana, you can’t use your fitness benefit here. Who would only support fitness and people who go through United healthcare? They deny claims and their coverage is terrible so I guess that says something about this gym that they are only aligning themselves with the worst insurance company for those with serious healthcare needs. This gym is on the more pricey side so you expect some perks like being able to at least have one member use their silver sneakers benefit and then put the rest of the family on the family membership. This gym would still be getting paid quite a bit for my spouse and teen aged athletic kids. If I were to switch to UNH, my monthly premium would go up and my co-pays would go up and my claims will get denied. My wife has a disability so we need a disability friendly gym and this is not it for many reasons besides just this. It’s sad to see no training training offered to those who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices A gym this size you expect that these days. Instead, they have to pay the price that tech workers pay, and they can’t use their insurance benefit. ** updating to add how disappointing it is that this club only accepts United healthcare Jim plans after seeing how United healthcare has secretly been paying nursing homes to not send patients in need of care to the emergency department. Of all the insurance companies they could’ve selected, it says volumes that this club only accepts United healthcare so I am switching to one star

West Seattle Health club is great! My wife and I both have memberships and we enjoy this gym!
The staff are all very nice and friendly, including the personal trainers and instructors. I attend Monday evening water aerobics class and I always enjoy it! My personal trainer is Jason. He is phenomenal and really cares about his clients. I highly recommend either him or Zac S. if you are looking for a good personal trainer.
The facilities are a mix of older equipment and newer equipment, but they do keep the areas clean. The building is a bit older, but it doesn’t bother me. They also offer cryotherapy and massage.
I will say that parking is a real pain. It can be so challenging finding parking, especially on weekday evenings. A massive headache! I wish they would address this and find solutions. It is a bit more expensive than some other gyms in the area, but you get a large selection of classes and services that you may not get at other area gyms.
Otherwise, I highly recommend WSHC for your fitness needs. It’s a great gym! Chauna and the entire management team are great and very responsive.

Facilities are pretty worn down, several treadmills that don't get fixed, and the locker room is not clean enough. Very dated. Submitted suggestions to the management but they don't seem to do anything about it. The water fountain in the pool area has been broken for weeks, at least. Their class schedules are weird, lots of classes that start to around 9, less earlier. One of their trainers totally didn't listen to my needs and then tried to sign me up for 8 sessions. Hard pass.

Hands down the best gym i've ever experienced. The staff, the classes, the wet and dry saunas, and 3 levels with everything you could ever ask for. In particular a legit hot wet sauna that doesn't break down all the time is huge for me. All the classes and instructors have been top notch. Good friends come in from surrounding areas outside of WS just to use this gym. Keep up the great work WSHC team!

I've lived in Seattle since 2002 and this is by far the best gym I've belonged to! West Seattle Health Club offers a variety of classes, towel, pool, sauna, and steam room, kids club, and very reasonably priced training sessions (Eli is great if you're looking for a personal trainer). There is a climbing wall, a nicely appointed lounge with a fireplace, and a café to get smoothies and coffee.
Check it out for free with a 5 day pass - you won't be disappointed!

Honest question for the business owners, at what point do you turn members away because the gym is too crowded? If you go between 6am-11 or 1-4pm you have a 50/50 chance of getting parking in the lot. The rest of the time you have to park a quarter mile down the street. The people running laundry can’t keep up with demand for towels, the narrow stairway is jam packed, you don’t seem to be able to keep up with maintenance on the treadmills, it’s just too busy. I’m writing this because it’s particularly bad because of the New Year’s resolution people but it’s been too busy for more than a year.

Definitely the best gym I've been a member of, and the longest I've held a membership. Really nice facilities.
My only complaint is that they seem to have a lot of plumbing issues with drinking fountains, the steam room, and jacuzzi. Nice spacious facility with towel service, but the main floor has as really jumbled layout, especially in their bodyweight/kettlebell/medicine ball area, which manages to both be quite large and also have no distinct space to use that equipment where you're not actively in the way. You even frequently see people working on mats in the hallway by the door - even though there's a bunch of dead space over past the twenty or so treadmills.

I go to this gym for the pool. I drive about 25-35 minutes each way. Unfortunately Seattle is badly lacking in lap pools. WSHC has a very nice pool and they always keep lanes open for lap swimming. The hours are great, you can always swim laps when the club is open. It makes the drive worth it. There is also a masters swim workout included in your membership. The staff has always been very nice. The locker room is clean with private showers. The only thing I would change is to make the pool a few degrees warmer and the chlorine seems strong some times, it irritates my eyes. But overall a great pool.

I’ve been attending over a year and I can say confidently that this gym is excellent - and I say this as someone who came from working out at a lot more “glamorous” gyms in my former state. It is always spotlessly clean! It’s also HUGE - there are several levels with different weight rooms, stretch rooms, tons of classes and a large weight section. I very rarely, if ever, have to wait in equipment.
The staff is friendly, usually very consistent and I don’t see a lot of high turnover. Always have a lot of towel drops, garbage cans and cleaning supplies handy.
The culture of the gym is also great. It’s a really wide mix of all kinds of people. I’ve seen extremely athletic veterans who attend the gym like their temple work alongside brand new folks, elderly, or people like me getting back into it after life took priority. It’s the perfect balance of not feeling like a meat market but also feels like a serious gym.
They have a ton of family classes and swimming lessons which is great for those with kids, but they are in a separate part of the gym so they don’t overlap or bother adults like me who aren’t child friendly. They have a great kids club that I’m told is very reasonable - again, win win for the parents and the childfree.
The locker rooms are super spacious and I feel very safe here as a woman.
I feel like a lot of the criticism this gym gets for being a bit outdated and having older equipment is harsh. In just a year I’ve seen them make MASSIVE improvements and they are about to get an influx of all new equipment as well. I don’t think people understand how brutal the pandemic was on gyms and how expensive it is to order entire floors worth of equipment.
Bottom line is that I feel like the owners and the management really cares and they are making huge strides to make this gym even better. I’m excited to see what comes up and I’m grateful we have this place in Seattle!
I’ll post some photos of the new stuff once it comes in.

I'm really into the classes at this gym, but it's so packed most of the time because they sell a ton of memberships. Finding parking from 4 pm to 7 pm is a nightmare, and mixing adult and kids' classes time slots just makes things worse. Plus, they're pretty slow at fixing stuff like treadmills. Just signed up, worked out once, seems great. Wasn’t busy, 3 floors and a women’s only space and a pool. Discounts for students and teachers too

The gym has gotten super busy at all hours for the last year and I think they should really reconsider the distribution of equipment. They definitely need more squat racks/deadlift areas because it’s pretty hard to find a time of day when you can actually get a free squat rack.

Here are some observations as a member of the West Seattle Health Club:
1. Machines always out of service
2. Soap dispensers in locker rooms don’t work
3. Paper towel dispensers in locker rooms are jimmy rigged with a screw and never work
4. Rarely have towels available for members, always out of small or big towels
5. Entire club is run down, patchy paint on walls, old carpet and the locker rooms haven’t been updated in years
A few of us have submitted internal feedback forms to help resolve some of these issues over the past few months but no action has been taken.
Management, do better!

Our entire family loves this gym. There are always people cleaning and it feels very pleasant to be there. The space is huge and bright, which is very uplifting and motivating for me. There’s always towels available. The front desk and smoothie bar staff are all so sweet and welcoming. There are a ton of amenities, like a rock wall, steam room, pool, multiple fitness rooms, classes and specialty services, and awesome kids area. My three year old loves the staff in the kids’ care center- seriously the nicest people. She also loves taking dance classes (extra cost). Nice people there as members, too. Overall, just a cool community and positive place to be a part of. It’s fun for all of us to go!

I’m a member. It’s a chill gym to workout in. There’s rock climbing, a pool, hot tub, sauna, women’s only work out area, work out classes, a smoothie shop, and more! If you sign up you can bring a non member to the gym with you.

A decent gym. Recently it's been more and more busy in the pool area - with many swim lessons taking up lanes and the paid reserved lane ($10 per hour per lane), sometimes there are effectively 3 lanes available to use

Went here 3-4 times per week for about 3 months - lifting in the weight area on the third floor. 2 months in, I decided this gym was not for me and submitted my cancellation notice for the following reasons:
- the third floor is regularly hot and humid. they only seemed to turn on the A/C in the afternoons when requested by the trainers that work out there. And no fans at all to move air around when the a/c is off (shout out to the super yoked trainer who always seemed to get the a/c turned on with a text or phone call)
- the equipment is neglected. they clearly do not maintain the machines. many of the weight machines have ripped seats, rusting parts, broken pins, and squeaky belts. there are never signs on them indicating that they are broken either.
- the building is dirty. it's carpeted so it smells bad and is hard to clean, the walls have noticeable damage, and people DO NOT wipe down their equipment after using it.
- there is very little gym etiquette. people frequently occupy equipment for long periods of time while taking phone calls loudly, sitting on the floor, or looking at their phone. they don't rack their weights. with only 3 squat racks, this is extremely frustrating. funny enough, i've even seen the manager of the gym taking phone calls on her airpods while working out. even one of the trainers that works there only wears sandals in the weight area??
for the monthly cost AND an "annual enhancement fee" it doesn't seem like much of that money goes into ensuring a good experience for those working out there. the bare minimum isn't being met, so save your money if you want a clean and well-maintained place to lift in peace.

I’ve been a member for a few months now and the staff at the front is usually not very friendly sometimes I don’t even get greeted which is extremely awkward, but whoever was working at the front desk today around 6:45pm with tattoos and helped me with a rubber band deserves a 5 star. He was very kind and had great customer service. Would give a 5, but like I said sometimes I don’t even get greeted and this is a more pricey gym. Moving here from California I would expect a friendlier staff.
Overall I enjoy the yoga classes and instructors and the gym is pretty nice.

Great place, well run establishment. However, I would like to see more towel racks, shelves, and hooks in the family changing rooms. There are no handles or anything in there.

It's all about the pool, wet sauna, and the spacuzzi.
I haven't even been to the weight room, but the aqua workouts are 🔥
The club also has a smaller room for the shy foxes.

This is a terrific club. The swimming facilities on the first floor are outstanding. The pool length is 25 yards and has wide lanes for easy sharing. The pool room has a wall of large outdoor windows and a nearby hot tub with jets. The shower and locker facilities are clean and well supplied. The second floor has rooms for yoga and dance classes that are quite popular. There is a separate room with about 20 bikes for spin classes. My only lament is the lack of early morning spin classes. On the third floor, there are two adjoining large weight rooms with free weights and a complete set of Nautilus and Cyber machines. There is a large adjacent room with exercise bikes, stair machines, treadmills and elliptical exercise machines. These rooms have large windows in three of the walls. The gym has great vibe. It is family friendly and supportive of the hard core gym rats and the newbies.

I visited. It seems like a nice gym and so close to my house we could walk there. Unfortunately for myself and my 16 year old daughter to join it's $381 after you include first last and deposit then the monthly is due the very next month. WHY would you require that?! This isn't like I'm renting an apartment where I would bring an animal or have a party where things could be destroyed. It's absurd. At the VERY MINIMUM drop the "commitment fee" for my child. Just wow. I'm sure they do this for their "target consumer "

I really enjoy this gym but unfortunately have noticed inconsistencies with them being open on time. I showed up at 5:40am on a Monday morning and the gym hadn’t opened yet. I’ve asked about kids being in the hot tub which has clear signs saying they should not be in there and I’ve seen swim instructors trying to stop them but when I asked the front desk they responded with a shrug and said they’d watch the cameras. It’s disappointing they can’t enforce basic rules and keep posted hours.

This is a great gym, especially if you want to swim. I can really only speak to the pool area, but I was a member for 2+ years and swam laps two to three times a week. The lockers were clean, the pool area was clean, the hot tub and saunas were well taken care of. Like any gym, it can get busy depending on when you go. I mostly went on the cusp of peak hours and I never had trouble finding a lane or sharing with someone if needed. The staff was also incredibly friendly. I joined during the back half of COVID as restrictions were being lifted. I always felt like they took them seriously and put everyone health and safety first. I'm moving out of state and cancelling was straightforward. I thoroughly enjoyed being a member and highly recommend checking it out!
