Joined a couple months ago to use the pool. It's the only pool in town. But you can never get in the pool, they always have this class or that class scheduled, even if there's plenty of room they don't allow you to use it unless you're scheduled in the class, they even have family swim days and unless you have children you're not considered a family well I'm a senior and all my children are gone, if you even try to question the rules they kick you out of the pool. Most of the time the pool is empty. Is the strangest YMCA I've ever seen in my life it definitely needs New Management. I dropped my membership after only a couple months. The locker rooms are also very dirty.

Wonderful place to swim, and work out. My teen gets weight training and he is loving the results. There is family swim for parents and kids under 17 which is nice. Teen nights are back and there are private lessons to book online. It's super easy to do. Swim lessons are easy to get into and instructors are easy going and nice to learn from. Pool is clean. Lifeguards are attentive and treat everyone fairly. Rules are enforced and the same for everyone. There is a climbing wall and daycare for members when you just want that extra time to play basketball or hit the yoga class. Spin class and kids sports. Preschool and a water babies class even. Adults exercise in the morning. Lots of opens swims for the summer and lap lanes. There is even a added adults only swim in the main pool in the afternoon and adult only in the morning in the activity pool

We went here for almost a year. Jackie is amazing in rainbow corner.
Amy and Holly are great too!!
We moved out of state and I was one day past when I shouldβve canceled our membership and They said they would ask management to please consider not charging us since we were in the process of moving at lost track of the days and wouldnβt be there at all that month.
Well they ended up charging us still. We also Had a very serious incident of our toddler walking out of day care not once, but TWICE and I never got a return call from managementβ¦.(comes off that they donβt take child safety seriously.) There Child care is right by the pool and locker rooms. Very disappointed on how this experience endedβ¦.
I also never make negative reviews.

This place has to be one of the worse YMCA i have ever been in, work out equipment old and out dated, sauna dirty and smells really bad, and the lifeguards in the pool nothing but young people that have been given power and they love to use it, was in the pool on the hottest day of the summer and i was the only one there, that should tell you something about this place and why no one goes to it, i was told i could not use the other pool because it was family day and there was 2 people in that pool, i asked if we could be a little easy on the rules because no one is hear and was kicked out of the pool, i am 70. I will never go back and by the looks of the empty only pool in town, most others think the same way.

Off and on, I've been going since I was about 8 years old. i'm 28 this year in August.
I would recommend that if you're a family or have someone to take, it is definitely worth the money. becareful which lifeguard you talk to, one of the female black haired lifeguard with glasses is disrespectful, and she cares if she gets wet when you jump in or splash as a lifeguard... anyways, beware the "nasty one."

Great staff well maintained the only problem is they eliminated all but one racquetball court. They used to have five. Their exercise room/gym is well equipped and not terribly busy. Donβt use the pool that much so really canβt comment on it even though Iβve been a member for 40 years in Longview, and in other places, my entire life

Def the worst gym I've ever been at. The staff are extremely incompetent and harassed me and my daughter while at the pool. They discriminated against my daughter for being 2.5yrs old and told us we could not be in the pool, this is after I double checked that she would be allowed in at the front desk bc they had 1/2 the pool as a lap pool, the other 1/2 as an exercise area. When I refused to get out of the pool, they called the police on us! I had to file a complaint with the Federal DOJ office. What they did to us is extremely illegal and humiliating. No one with littles are safe here unless youre willing to give up your civil rights.

Unfortunately, a great facility has been ruined by extreme poor management. Making one hard to follow rule after another. Limiting time in the pool, changing standards, putting silly tape up on the wall you canβt cross like a little child. And then there is the parking lot! With a good idea to re-pay the parking lot either it was not supervised or no instructions were given or both. They pave the parking lot and then put in compact parking over the top of where they used to be handicap. They ruined the lines for vans and to make up for it blocked out other handicap parking. Today it is so difficult to park without walking for Block. And nobody in management at YMCA seems to care. I do notrecommend spending your money on the YMCA and if anybody has a suggestion of where else to go, please put it in the comments.

I've been there a few times now. I told the gym manager what I feel like I need work on, he was very helpful showed me exactly the right machines I should be using. I'm really enjoying it! The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful as well.
My first time there today, they were very friendly and informational explaining all the different areas of the gyms and the pools. I look forward to going back and putting it all to use.

Went in with intention on checking facilities to consider a year pass for me and my family. The staff at the front desk answered some questions. The lady seemed annoyed at my questions. I would ask a question and she would stare at me like it was dumb question, and reluctantly answer with slight attitude. Even rolled her eyes when I asked her to show me what page the information was on to my question, as she just gave me a magazine and said the answer to my question was in it.

The first time I visited, I was given a tour. I was given tons of info about what the facilities offered and the types of classes they had. For being in an older building, it was well maintained.
The gym area has lots of natural light. It smelled fresh and clean. Didn't smell like sweat and bleach cleaners.
I was given a free pass and used one of the pools for a beginners class. The locker room was clean. There were private areas for women to change. They had "wet" bathrooms for if you were wet. They also had "dry" bathrooms that women could use once you were dry, so you didn't sit on a wet seat!
The instructors were super wonderful! She immediately zeroed in on the new person in class. She introduced herself and made sure she was near me so I could hear the directions on what we were doing. She watched over me to make sure I was doing the moves correctly to get the most out of what we were doing.
All in all, top-notch!

I love working out at the Y BUT in the womenβs upstairs locker room, there are only 5 showers- 1 is completely out of order, the 2nd one doesnβt even get warm so only cold water. That leaves only THREE working showers and they donβt look like theyβre cleaned regularly! Just spray some bleach once a day it isnβt that hard! And I highly doubt the menβs locker room only has 3 working showersπ

I would not recommend this gym, the prices continue to rise and the quality of service and equipment continue to decline. The facility is dirty and the equipment is broken down for extended periods of time. Huge staff turn around due to controlling behavior. Limited hours of pool due to staffing issues regularly. Toxic power tripping management that provide no support. Favoritism and discrimination practices. Homeless wondering around parking lot leaving trash and feces around the property. That's just to name a few thing. The community keeps this place going but at some point we have to ask is it worth it.?

I love the place but I only have a couple of concerns. I say this with complete love and respect of the gym environment.
1. There needs to be a designated shower room for our growing trans community at this location. Safety and privacy reasons.
2. There needs to be a dress code of conduct enforced. Women wearing underwear length shorts, are putting their bare butt cheeks on the equipment. To prevent skin infection and to maintain a safe gym environment, have a employee come and do a walkthrough the gym a few times a day. To enforce safety, proper gym etiquette and dress code of conduct. I have seen people take off their pants directly in the weight room. Please help keep the gym a safe place to be for everyone .

I think itβs unfair how the YMCA has two pools and basically only uses one for the members for lessons. The lazy river pool should be used everyday for families and children that need to learn how to swim. I want the YMCA to be more inclusive to members with young kids. Absolutely NEED TO HAVE MORE OPEN SWIM! Should have open swim in the lazy river pool all hours of the day as the open. Our little town Y isnβt very inclusive, I was looking forward to swimming today but canβt bc there isnβt open swim.

Would give 0 if I could. The lifeguard is a bully and very aggressive and the CEO could care less. The pool is full of little clicks and they run the pool. Lifeguards are on a power trip. One yelled at my husband for not βshoweringβ before coming into the pool, even though he had completely washed off and she just didnβt look hard enough. I also swim laps there and use their weight room. It is a fun place to work out with a really nice staff. The equipment is diverse and there are lots of good options for free weights and machines. Best gym in Longview, even with the pandemic happening. They are very safe with following guidelines and there for their members at the same time.
You have to make an appointment now to workout but I have had no problems being able to schedule an appointment and get whatever workout I can get in, in an hour. Wish it was longer but it is what it is for now. Thank you, Y for everything!!!
UPDATE 6/15/21- no longer required to make appointments to workout. Mask required when walk around facility but when youβre working out, you may remove it.
Those who are vaccinated have the option to not wear a mask at in within the facility.
Update for last many months to present- no longer need to wear a mask unless you want/need to. No appt needed. Facility is completely open and fully accessible. Still the best gym :)

I'm only leaving such a low review here because of how difficult it is just to get through the door. I just want to go swimming, or to the gym, or to the basketball court. I should be able to pay the entrance fee, sign their little book, and go inside, but they need your full name, address, date of birth, they want to scan your ID/DL and take a picture of you to put in their system. It's like those websites that want you to register your email and create an account just to read the front page.
And not just that, but they want the same info from every single person with you. Last time I was there I saw a family of 4 going in. A dad, his two kids, and their grandmother, and they wanted the grandmother to scan her ID and sign in even though she just wanted to wait in the lobby. They said she couldn't even stay in the lobby unless she showed them ID.
I go here very rarely, maybe like once or twice a year. I find it odd that they need so much information from every single person that walks through the door. Not only that, but their rules are very strict, and almost all the lifeguards are teenagers. Maybe I just remember it differently now, but I use to go here when I was just a kid and it seemed a lot easier to get in.
So all in all I'm leaving this low review simply because it was such a hassle.

Awful. They apparently have some sort of policy that you have to cancel a month in advance. I canceled and then was still billed another month which they refused to refund. This despite me moving out of the area. I was charged for a month for something I couldn't possibly take advantage of because I had already moved. Total bs. Times are tough and I can't afford charity. I don't know how you can bill someone after they tell you they moved. Disgusting. Soured me against ymca facilities.

I do love this place but alot needs to be brought up to date. They have made alot of improvements lately but alot of stuff is dated! They could use a real hottub a diving board section maybe even a indoor slide for the kids to enjoy.. a steam room a co-ed sauna section and a few more things most all other fitness clubs have standard! For the price it's a tad high compared to what you get with other clubs and actually more have extra stuff for less than this place..I would say for 50$ another if ya want to swim in a large pool then this is the place for you.. but if ya want sauna, steam, hotub free classes and alot more for half that then try 24hr fit or even less for planet fitness.

Super disappointed with their lack of access for disabled individuals without an income. Am needing access to the pool once a week for prescribed water therapy and they have zero interest accommodating me or trying to make it work. Not only is it all or nothing you have to provide proof of income, which I donβt have any income and I told them that. Their βscholarshipβ form they gave me states they are βhere to serve people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, and incomes, and believes that programs and services should be available to everyoneβ is not true. When I mentioned to the representative I donβt have an income. That Iβm disabled and working on getting disability benefits and that at this point I have zero income, that when I need groceries I use food bank or my parents purchase the food directly, they said that they cannot give me a membership without proof of income because they need to make sure they will be paid. Again, I have zero interest in any of the facilities besides the pool for prescribed water therapy, so super frustrating they had zero desire to even try and find a way to work with me, especially since they are contracted with my physical therapy office that they use the facilities for one on one patient water therapy. Super disappointed that there is no middle ground or desire to help those with extenuating circumstances.

I love our Y. It has everything you need for exercise and healthy living. It has great equipment, really nice basketball courts, and THREE swimming pools. And everything has been made safe with Covid-19 protocols. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. It's a great place to be, no matter your age or physical condition. If you want to improve your health or just have fun, go to the Y!

I made my 1st trip to the gym yesterday, it's good to be back since covid19. Social distancing has been set in play with the equipment and sanitizers were available for all members. They were remodeling bathrooms and new floors, they did a great job. They were also feeding alot of children, very cool!π

Even though it's by appointment only, I am now able to take my disabled adults for their doctor requested Pool Therapy. Having a schedule is so helpful during this time period of Social Distancing.

I don't think that there is another place with such caring people than the YMCA, they are always looking out for their customers to the best of their ability and keep them informed of all and every information that they receive about the Corona virus, before the virus it was basically the same thing it didn't matter if there was a virus or not they treat you with such love and respect that you cannot help but want to go there every day sometimes three times a day because the people are so wonderful and they make you feel so warm and happy inside and so willing to help you answer your questions and do what they can to do to make your experience the most wonderful thing that you have had at the YMCA. I want to thank all of the staff and all the hard-working people there that have done so much for everybody involved and everyone who comes to enjoy the YMCA I thank you from the bottom of my heart always Yolanda π
