Anytime Fitness on MacCorkle Ave is truly top notch. The facility is spotless, the equipment is outstanding, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. I recently joined Anytime and I am very pleased. It is always clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. John has been great as a manger and is very knowledgeable about workout regimens and nutrition suggestions. In addition to being conveniently located close to my home, it’s located in a shopping plaza that I frequent daily, so works. With summer coming, it always feels good to start exercising again! I inquired about a free week trail well I had an emergency come up and I wasn't able to do it. Next thing you know somehow there is a month membership in my name and I go to talk about it and the one that tells me I'm OK. Everything looks legit and then I go back in a few days later when I've had time to go back to work out and I talked John and before I can even talk, he said yeah I made a mistake. There was another Elizabeth who signed up but I fixed it. have no clue what he fixed it because my membership is still active. I still literally have an active membership under my email and phone number from until the eighth of next month. I have the membership agreement on the app under my email under my phone number. I mean really if you're gonna make a mistake, you don't have to sit there and embarrass clients. I literally was gonna continue the membership after this month and continue to go but after I found out how rude employees there are I'm like screw that place. I hope you feel like a real big man embarrassing, and making someone on the autism spectrum cry. Like is there any reason I couldn't go ahead and do that week trail? I mean you messed up and gave me a month membership and it's still there but I'm not allowed to use it. It wasn't taken back. It's still there and I'm not allowed to use it it's just gonna sit there and go to waste. I'm already a depressed person, and I thought going to the gym would make me feel better Until I found out the most stuck up and self-centered people work at a gym I never in my life felt so embarrassed and I'm a very awkward person. Who's on the autism spectrum I get embarrassed a lot. But not like I just did there. worst gym and people ever and come to find the reviews of the place. Let me tell you something about this gym. Starting with the staff. Everyone I have ever spoken to here has been nothing, but friendly and helpful. They are truly making Charleston, WV a healthier place.

I have got to know the manager, John in my time at this gym. He always takes a moment to wave or say hi to you when you walk in. That ALONE gives you such a feeling of being welcomed

The gym is also CLEAN! I am a professional detailer so I know a thing or 2 about things being clean. Any review you see on here about the facilities being dirty within the last year is truly just a complainer and LOOKING for negatives.

John and his team take pride in their gym and it shows. KEEP THEM HAPPY!!

I would like to take a minute and praise the general manager John and his staff at Anytime Fitness in Kanawha City, WV.
We joined the gym a few months ago out of necessity we were members about 10 years ago but left due to a manger there.
All I can say is this gym is now clean and John takes the time to get to know everyone, no matter their age, shape or color. He’s amazing with everyone, I’m not sure we keep our membership if John wasn’t here. He’s really been so helpful with everything.
People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. To the owners keep our gym as it is with the staff you have in place.

Anytime Fitness in St. Albans is a great place to start with a good exercise plan. They have a very Caring crew that will work hard to make sure you feel welcome and will show you how to use the equipment. They have a nice room for weightlifting and exercise with a huge mirror that covers the wall. Plenty equipment to exercise. I enjoy going there.

This gym has the best manager now and the personal trainers are top notch. It's always clean and well equipped. I have always felt welcome and comfortable. If you have the opportunity to commit to personal training, you will not regret it. It feels amazing to hit goals that you never thought were possible. Lately things have been kept fantastically clean, all machines are in working order… it is clear that the place is cared for. also - recently I haven’t been able to use my shower at home so I’ve had to shower here for the past couple weeks, and I’ve noticed the bathrooms are kept very clean and the showers are nice to use. Had an appointment at 1030am to speak to someone about joining the gym. I stayed there till 1035 and NO ONE came or was there to assist me! What's the point of making an appointment if no one cares or is available to speak with a potential customer? I wanna join a gym that values my time. Whoever owns this gym should be ashamed. First of all, I want to say that Jason and his staff are awesome, caring, and devoted to the success of the gym. There have been four treadmills out of service for months. I know Jason has requested the owners to fix the machines, and it seems that no one is getting around to doing it. The treadmills are extremely popular in Charleston, especially among an older crowd, and choosing to not fix them to save money is terrible, terrible business. The owners should be ashamed and the management at this gym deserves better. On top of that, they are reluctant to fix the tanning room (over a year) and other equipment too. Again, Jason and his team deserve better!

If I could review the gym solely off of Jason, Josh, and the others and their commitment to the gym, I’d give 5/5 review. The owners make me want to leave!

Good variety of weight equipment. Treadmills need maintainence. The smaller details need a lot of attention. Spray bottles are often empty, as well as the hand sanitizer. The floor is always dirty and dusty. The bathrooms smell bad. One of the water fountains needs to be fixed. A water bottle filler will be a great addition.

Its a great gym not too big not too small. Been going there for about a year. Free weights is my thing. But they have plenty of machines and tredmills My only complaint is the lack of sports channels and the fact that you cant change the channel on the tv. That sucks. Eapecially if your the only onecin there.

This is a great gym. Location is convenient and I always feel safe. The staff are always helpful and friendly. My trainer, Josh Powell is amazing! He keeps me motivated and focused on what’s important. He is very observant. He knows when to push me harder when I’m lacking motivation. I highly recommend getting the personal training sessions. He has kept me coming back!

August 19 th I got my membership at anytime fitness in kanwaha city WV and was told they take out bi annual fee but the one in October I would not have to pay where I just started my membership then the following one would come out normally! Great I’m good with that well it’s October , the fee came out it’s not the fact about the 35$ dollars just don’t say one thing and do something different then when asked about get amnesia!

I will never join Anytime Fitness again because of my experience with this location and how they handled our membership transfer from out of state.

My experience was based on my transfer in 2019-2020. Hopefully there is a new manager at this point because the one that we interacted with is still causing issues because of they way the billing was handled and communicated to us. This is the reason for the 1 star review.

After several months (since summer) of equipment not working properly and the facility condition had depleted and the sanitary conditions being unacceptable, I went for a visit today after speaking with the new manager Julia and what a difference. It was visibly clean and smelled clean too. The equipment was clean and the bathrooms were clean as well. There were some building issues but are in the process of being resolved. New towel dispensers in the bathroom and no more using the same cleaning cloth for machines. There are sanitary wipes through out the facility. I will not mind visiting however I have switched my
home gym to Elkview who has cleaning staff every day. Otherwise, impressed with the changes at Kanawha City within the last 2 weeks. Good job!

Update:
I travel with work. Anytime makes it possible for me to work out regardless of where I work each day. I have visited Kanawha City the past couple of weeks. It is unbelievable the same machines have the same issue as last summer. I have tried 3 elliptical today. None of which operated as they should. Each one of the four has machine defects. These problems are why I chose to not come to KC Anytime Fitness the past year. It's sad. I have spoken with management and Anytime fitness corporate with no resolution. I have tried the same machines and they have the same issues from last summer. -Girl in distress who just wants to work out at any Anytime fitness and expect the machines to function 100% properly. What do we pay for? Elkview. St Albans, Texas have awesome AF gyms. KC step it up.

They keep charging my bank account for a contract that is expired, I have tried repeatedly to get someone on the phone to rectify the situation and have been unsuccessful. I guess I will have to take time off work to go there in person, which is going to cost me more money. This is ridiculous, and a pretty shady way to do business.

I have been going to this gym for 3 weeks now and 4 times I have had take cold showers, I don't know if the water heater just isn't powerful enough to support the building or what, hard telling. One of the last things a person who just got through an intense workout should have to do is take a an icy shower. Today though again there was no hot water so I decided to wait, hoping maybe it would reheat pretty quick, I was sitting at that gym for over an hour and that water was still ice cold. I was watching, no one at the the gym took a shower in that time (unless someone wanted to take and ice shower how could they) and still in over a hour no change the water still ice cold. I'm not writing this review cause I think its a bad gym, the people are decent there and the equipment is too. I just think this something that needs some attention and solved.

I was just looking into local gym membership options and now anytime fitness has called me multiple times. They have been super polite but it’s seems to me that’s they end up calling at the most inconvenient times. I have not yet been able to speak with them yet. I am thinking of joining one of the local Charleston gyms but I want to research and get info and find out rules of each gym as well as what kind of classes are offered. This is an excellent gym with great equipment. I have worked with two trainers over the last couple years, and each has been awesome! Right now I work with Josh. He listens to you and helps you meet your goals with appropriately challenging workouts. The office staff are easy to reach and resolve any issues quickly.

I am aghast at how poorly run this place is. I cancelled my membership and was continuously billed for services after I cancelled. After I found out I was still being charged (since the card the account was linked to had been cancelled) I was upset. They said nothing could be done so I paid the amount. Come to find out, after confirming my account had been settled they sent me to collects. This gym will take you for all you have and then keep going. Please find a gym that won’t take your money and then send you to collections AFTER paying. I have never seen a business run with no direction or leadership. No one knows what’s going on at any given time. It’s embarrassing. The management is extremely rude and will not help you. DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM. work out in a Wendy’s parking lot before going here.

I've tried out at several gyms in the Charleston area, and the Anytime Fitness in Kanawha City is by far the best gym. It's always clean, never too busy, and the members are respectful and kind. Management is great. Julia, the General Manager, is a sweetheart and I always see her hustling to make sure the gym is in great shape. Their trainer, Josh, is always doing a great job with the members. Overall, this gym is a 10/10, memberships are well-priced, and I would suggest it to anyone!

Place has gone down significantly after Lilly left. Nothing is being cleaned, floors are dirty, bathrooms are absolutely disgusting, trash isn’t even being taken out. The bathrooms are so bad that I and others have to leave just to go to the restaurant next door to use theirs. There have been so many issues, but no one is there to help members during “open” hours. Machines and other amenities such as vending and tanning go without repair. I’m a little confused as to why it’s gotten so bad. Did the entire gym rely solely on this one person to even operate? This gym used to be amazing and a whole step ahead of others with an amazing and kind leader. Now, I would rather drive the distance to planet fitness.

As a truck driver I obviously travel a lot that being said iv seen a lot of these gyms it’s a great gym. Great equipment it has a great circuit area as well. My only complaint is that I wish more anytime fitnesses has those water bottle water fountains the ones that you’re able to put your jug under. Other than that it has a huge parking lot to park your truck. Great gym will be back if I’m in the area!

Anytime is a horrible, dirty company. Signed up for a ONE YEAR the woman who did the paperwork made it a two year without permission and is sending us through loops to cancel. Will never recommend to anyone. Its an absolute mess and when I called to speak with them they picked up the phone, let it sit on the line for 3 minutes without saying a word, hung up and never did anything. They're dirty liars!
