Tried several gyms in the area this is better. Nice staff, fair amount of equipment to people ratio, good Atmosphere. Gym floor, bathroom/ sauna could be cleaner but not the worst Ive seen. Was given a free 7 day trail on a punch out card which is much better than just a week because im busy so ill be able to actually use all 7 days. Moving to the area soon and will definitely be getting my membership here.

Called and let them know I was moving July 1 to 3.5 hours away. They said no problem come in and cancel before 7.5 and you will be billed for the next 30 days but it will cancel after that. I said great! Went in inperson filled out form where the young man told me the same information. Today 7.18 I called to make sure it was going to cancel and was informed I would be charged for till August when my yearly contract ends. Asked how I would use the gym 3.5 hours away. No answer. Called my bank to cancel the card.

Go somewhere else! Just trust me, these guys are BAD business. They'll give you the run around about your contract and cancellations so they can siphon you for money for as long as possible. Terrible contract terms and when you upgrade your plan so you can bring friends, you can never downgrade. So every way they have their contracts structured is meant to take as much from you as possible and leave you with no way out. I tried to cancel several times and they told me I'd have to wait til my year contract was up before I could cancel so I come back when it's been a year and they tell me how they never said that and they're gonna charge me "Just one more time" cause cancelling requires 30 day notice. They suck and it smells like dog in there.

Cheap price, tons of machines, but kind of an intimidating floor plan and often intense clientele with a less friendly “old head”body builder vibe and more of an air of aggression that permeates the place.

Staff have been nice, machines are serviceable and the prices can’t be beat (just make sure you’re aware of the contract terms), but it seems to draw a less friendly crowd for whatever reason.

Do not go to this gym, most of their equipment is always broken, the floor is always dirty, people at the front desk seem stuck up and rude. They also make it impossible to cancel your membership and still try to charge you after doing so. They make you sign a one year contract, which is pathetic. My experience at Extreme Family Fitness was deeply unsatisfactory. The gym's management exhibited poor practices, including misleading promises about services and a lack of proper processes for handling memberships. They have nice group classes. But the entire facility is lacking in all other aspects. Equipment seems ramshackle, things like their speaker system in the class hall have been broken for months and seemingly the owners have decided to ignore this. The contract and fees being mentioned in other reviews are major stressors. You're forced into a one year contract and cannot downgrade it if you get the more expensive one. Hopefully new management would remedy this, but if not steer clear.

I’ve been in Martinsburg twice for work and both times, Extreme Family Fitness was where I went.

Their customer service is awesome compared to other large GYMs and they are all approachable. I purchased a 5-day pass both times and it was only $25; most places charge triple that for the same amount of days.

They have just about everything you need for lifting. Cardio equipment is there too, if that’s your thing. But they’ve got 6 racks and plenty of barbells for them.

Tons of machines, including hard to find ones like hack squat machines.

Love this place and will be using it every time I pass through for work.

Same equipment since I was in middle school/high school (over 10 years ago). Does not allow you to use certain equipment without paying for full programs. For example, you cannot use the punching bags without paying for their mma programs. Legitimately going to go out of business once onelife opens up their new facility. Only people going to stay here are the old heads, and people who don't want to go to onelife because how busy it is.
They have changed and tried adding stuff since 2010, but the pool does not exist anymore and there have been minimal to no changes since it failed.

Really dirty, the most recent time i was there, there were dead roaches on the floor, they stayed there for days. That was the last straw. I'm no longer going, they won't let you cancel online.
They have no specific phone number to contact the owner. No email to contact. It's everything but cash only. Super sleazy and unfortunately turned me off of anything but big chain anything really. Do NOT sign up for this. especially if you are trying to move ever. Since according to some reviews I'm not the first one being screwed over. Seriously I would give negative stars if I could. Do not. I've been a member at this gym since it was a hole in the wall beside the bingo place. This gym has made vast improvements with equipment and programs since 2010. Someone always cleans the showers now as well as vacuums. They've added a pool mma classes and all kinds of stuff. The only reason i give it 4 stars instead of 5 is we need a BELT SQUAT MACHINE. Way safer and less spinal compression! Get it please thanks!!

The equipment is fine and all, but if you’re thinking of signing up, ask to SEE the contract before you sign anything. There is an almost certain chance that they will not inform you of this contract and have you sign anyway. And when confronted about it, they seem to put all of the blame on the customer. I was told when canceling that I’d have to pay the last months fee and then I’d be done, just to get hit with a 50 dollar charge two months later. The staff member, “Monica”, was quick to get nasty on the phone in regards to the employees neglect to inform their customers on the contract.

I was a member for several years (4 or 5). Gym was ok. Equipment was not well-maintained and saw more and more "under repair" as time went on. Regular staff turn-over. Hit and miss customer service. Having 24 hour access and a LOT of equipment was nice. I've read the horror stories about cancelling memberships, but I had no problem. Always read the contract.

You cannot cancel a membership after starting or they'll send it to collections and bombard you with robo-calls, even if you finish the initial contract period they ONLY let you cancel in person, if they let you cancel. No to Xtreme. 9/30 out of $600:
$500 worth of personal training sessions. I got the first 2. He cancelled twice, admitted to forgetting about me the third time after promising to be there and I waited on him for 15 mins. I asked him to come in late and he texted "you must really love your legs tonight." Like, huh? So, whatever. BUT When I went in tonight, he berated me for my tone and for calling him a liar, which I didn't even though he flaked on me. I asked to get out of my contract...that happened but with no refund. I asked the trainer to stop talking to me and he yelled at me. He interrupted and yelled at me when I was trying to talk to staff. He verbally admitted to being unprofessional. The staff did nothing. When I went to leave, he blew kisses at me. I feel humiliated, unsafe there, harrassed and like I was intentionally scammed out of over $500. I never want to go back. And I paid my membership of over$100 up front. So, yeah. Ladies, please don't go there. I have text messages so this is not trolling. I swear it.

Just joined Extreme Family Fitness and a friendly representative named Logan gave me a tour of all this establishment has to offer.
For the basic package: $15 down and $15 per month (with a one year contract) which includes quite a bit for the price, several rooms for circuit training, free weights, cardio equipment (ie trendmills, recumbant and more), yoga, martial arts class, dance class, private areas for practicing and tanning (FYI some classes and tanning are not included at the basic rate).
Now at the $30 package level ($30 down/$30 per month as well) your experience expands to the afore mentioned group sessions plus child care with play area, tanning and more. As time goes by I will update my review if needed. So far, from what I've seen, this place has most if what anybody would need to meet their fitness needs/goals.

During COVID, neither staff nor customers are wearing masks nor maintatining any social distancing. The staff are not cleaning any equipment, and the place is simply dirty. I froze my membership back in June but they continued to bill me 3 months later. Apparently you can only freeze your membership for 3 months, which I was not notified of. I requested a refund and was told that a manager will be calling me back. Nobody called me back. Poor communication among the workers of the gym, and lack of concern for current customers lead me to canceling my membership all together. I would not recommend this place of business for anyone who is seeking quality, cleanliness, or customer service.

Nov. 2, 2020 - Cancelled membership in June due to covid. I was billed in October. Called 3x yesterday, emailed, and called once today. Still no return call. Was told I would be receiving a refund. Have not received refund yet. Still waiting.

It is Nov.24. I started asking them about my refund November 2. Still no refund.

If they don't have the money and are going out of business, they could just tell me. I would understand. They just keep lying about refunding the money and tell me manager is busy working on drywall....

Early Dec.- They don't answer the phone when I call and are not responding to my emails.

As of Dec. 17- I tried calling again with a different phone. Also e-mailed again. No answer/ no response.

I look forward to joining One Life fitness in Martinsburg after Covid is under control. I called them and told them about my experience with Extreme. They

I love extreme. The people are great. They only have one fault, the TV's. Apparently if you go to the gym you watch sports. Every tv is either sports or news and I hate both. So I either have to watch something on my little phone or bring my tablet. But they will change a channel I'd you ask so it's ok.

Just called to inquire about membership. Staff were not able to answer any questions and sounded miserable on the phone. Upon reading other reviews, this gym, like Gold's, is a nightmare to CXL membership. I'll be going elsewhere.

As a side note, with everything going on and the ability to take training (LinkedIn and other), it blows my mind businesses still fail at leadership and customer service.

My boyfriend has been trying to cancel his membership and has been getting run around. He was told half the fees that were charged after he canceled in Feb. would be returned, he got ~$20 back then the rest was denied. There is a breakdown in communication between the business and ABC Financial who handles collecting and refunding membership fees. He has tried contacting the owner via email and on multiple occasions gotten no response.

I love my gym. The staff are ways welcoming and willing to help in any way. I've been a member for 4 years and my favorite class is danceology. It's like going to the club with the girls but no alcohol, besides I'm too old for the club. Elmer is always doing new routines which keeps it fresh just like the music...fresh. Another favorite class is Body Pump with Cindy. Her class is amazing! My son also does karate and my other children love the kids club. It truly is family friendly ❤

Next step is to report the charges as fraud. I think the only way to successfully cancel my membership might be to close my bank account and reopen with a new account number. Lied about canceling my membership and over charged me. Refused to give me a refund when we made clear we were moving and unable to cancel in person. worse customer service ever! Charged us when we never attended the gym because of move and locked us in a contract with no mercy.

Dropped in. Sits across the parking lot from the other Extreme gym in a very nice facility. Kind people with plenty of newer equipment. Would recommend and will return the next time I am in town.

I love the place, I have gone to this gym for nearly 3 years now. If you don't like crowds, don't go from like 5-7pm on weekdays. Its conveniently located and has a large selection of equipment to work with. Largest downside, is that the whole Berkeley plaza is old and run down, but its works grate as the venue for a gym.

Extreme Family Fitness has literally been a thorn in my side since January of 2017. They started a "pre-sale" of the pool that they were supposed to have completed sometime in 2017 and I got suckered into it by getting a membership there for me and my wife for 30$ each every month. The reason for the pre-sale was to lock in a price of 30$ a month because shortly after the sale it would go up to at least 50$. Sure that includes an all inclusive membership for the gym but I did NOT get a membership there for that reason. I got it for the pool. If I wanted just a gym I'd go somewhere else cheaper for 10$ a month. But here it is almost OCTOBER of 2018 and there STILL isn't a pool! I tried to get some of my money back from them talking even to the owner and they said there was NOTHING that they could do. They just kept trying to say how good of a deal I had. A good deal??? Yeah I've paid you a total of 1320$ so far for that pool membership and STILL no pool so who is it a good deal for??? Stay away! Very decietfull company and will rob you for an expensive membership that isn't worth it making empty promises if they can!
