Went to swim laps and paid 12$ and there was a class going on, was told the pool was open and it wasnβt, week later called and complained and asked if the pool was open , drove 30min for a huge sign at the front saying pool was closed.

Horrible and uninformed staff. They do not know how to check in traveling members and create unnecessary hassle just to get a workout while traveling for business. I travel weekly and visit multiple YMCAs across the East Coast, and this location has by far the worst staff Iβve ever encountered. The front desk is rude and completely uninformed about how national memberships work. If I have a membership at one YMCA, I should have access to all locationsβand staff should know how to honor that.

The Y is hands-down my favorite gym. Iβve met so many people here and made a lot of friends and connections, it really feels like a community, not just a place to work out. Some of the staff are friendly and helpful, and every visit leaves me feeling accomplished after a solid workout.
The only downside is that some of the machines could work a bit better, but thatβs a small issue compared to all the positives. Overall, itβs a fantastic place to stay active, meet great people, and feel at home while you work toward your fitness goals.

They have about everything you need to workout with, a lot of the equipment though needs to be serviced and it's very dirty in there. If you look around the bottom of the equipment sitting on the floor and in some places there's over an inch worth of dust and I really don't know what it is but definitely gross; and especially especially around the cable attachment machines.

Always crowded. If you donβt go early in the morning or late at night the pool is always closed to members as there is always a class going.. seems the whirlpool is closed when the pool is as well. Most machines have some issue in the gym.. Weights are all over the place. Not worth the $60/month when you only come for gym pool and sauna. Wish there was a gym only membership for half the price! Otherwise I feel Iβm paying for pools fees which I canβt even use 80% of the time! Check elsewhere before committing!

For the price of the facility I donβt think itβs worth 70 dollars a month unless you utilize EVERYTHING the gym offers consistently Staff was very friendly and seemed very clean from what Iβve seen but the mirrors in the weight room are very gross. Could really use a good clean down. Equipment isnβt bad but back to previous statement, not worth 70 dollars a month.

Great atmosphere, great amenities, great price.
It is busy like all the time, but I dont guess thats a bad thing. Hours arnt very ideal.. pool is closed on the weekends, and the whole facility closes early on the weekend.
Unfortunately, I do also keep a 24/7 gym membership at snap fitness incase I need to go late.

A year ago I would have rated the Y highly we loved our trainer Evan, we loved Bruce with the weight management program. We loved the child care, summer camp program and staff. Now a new director has taken over and since then the Y is being turned into a for profit institution. Bruce has resigned, they are trying to make changes to the PEIA program to make it more expensive and harder to stay in it. Now he has started attacking the summer camp program they want us to pay two weeks in advance yet they wonβt take the kids on field trips because they are worried their broken buses wonβt make it. Getting sick of this guy trying to mess up what has been a great resource and a pillar of Charleston community.

Great gym with plenty of equipment, mix of free weights and machines for lifting. Locker rooms are updated with plenty of lockers and space to get changed. Plenty of showers, sauna, and steam room. Great lap pool and whirlpool. The only complaint with this gym would be the indoor track, very short circular track with no real straightaways. The track laps around all the cardio equipment and you'll constantly have to be on the look out for people coming on and off equipment and circling out the area. An outdoor track or cordoned off area would be a great improvement.

Recently, I heard a comment from a YMCA member from NYC, who said this YMCA is one of the best he has ever visited and less expensive than his in NYC. While I expect this one is less expensive than NYC, I loved hearing that this is one of the best he has ever visited. I would agree that this is a wonderful YMCA.

Hi. I m your member. Your facility has good enough parking space. The cardio machine never full. Always has machines to work on. Your heavy weight area always has space too.
The cardio n yoga classes are good enough from Monday to Friday too.
The sauna room are good. But the steam room is too loud. Loud in the world.
Few things hope u can improve:
1/ wish u provide body wash/ shampoo/ conditioner .
2/ some of the leather of the machine are wear out. Hope u buy the leather tap to repair it. Tks alot.

Starting off strong for most gyms in the area. They have everything yu can think of for a gym, that is everything except for a microwave. I will say they have a great pool with large swimming lanes, and a large hot tub. Good sized dressing room, changing stalls, bathroom, and showers. They have upper and lower lockers of different sizes. If you want a lock, you must bring your own, and if you want to keep your locker locked for multiple days you gotta pay a fee for it.
Upstairs they have cardio machines and a walking lane that wraps around the room, they also have workout mats on the upper floor and lower level. Downstairs there are weight lifting machines of all sorts. They have tennis. They have a daycare. There's also water bottle refill fountains. They have an eating area upstairs (with no microwave), right outside of a small lounge with computers, gamming station, and a foosball table. They have many events throughout the year.
This really is a great gym, the only flaws I have to point out would be, the dining area upstairs having no microwave. My friend and I would go for 3-4 hours and get hungry, so we started packing lunch so we could continue to work out after and without a microwave that really puts a limitation on things to bring, so then we consider going out to eat and by that time we don't feel like spending the gas to go back to the YMCA. With that being said, let me tell you about the pricing. Some health insurance companies will pay for the days you go this gym, so I've heard, but have yet to see. For just 1 Adult, it's $54 a month, that's wildly high!! They do have a plan for two adults and children for $77 a month, you can add as many children to the plan as possible, so long as they live in your household. But keep in mind, this is the only plan that allows two adults, and there is no plan option for more than two adults. You can refer to their website under memberships for more information on their options.
Overall I do like it there, and a some type of discount would definitely make it worth the price!!

This was Hubs & my very first visit to this great facility...so I can only relate a little bit about the place for now.
First, it's a huge place with lots & lots of different rooms/spaces, plenty of equipment & from what I've heard lots & lots of activities & programs. Hubs & I went in the early afternoon on a weekday & we practically had the place all to ourselves (maybe 25-30 other adults & 10-12 kids). However, we've heard that when school is in session, the activity levels really amp up in the afternoons, so mornings would be best for adults wanting to use the facilities.
Downstairs on the first floor, there is an area dedicated to weights & other resistance training equipment. Definitely not MY cup of tea, but Hubs says he may be interested in some of it... eventually. The basketball courts are on this first level as are several large rooms for various classes/programs such as yoga, seniors' exercise class, etc.
The large swimming pool (the main attraction for me), the whirlpool/hottub(?), sauna/steam room, & the locker/dressing rooms are also on the first floor. It's a really large pool & has lap lanes roped off thanks to the fact that the pool is used most of the year for swim team practices. Apparently, there are swim board floaties & swim fins available to use, so you can really focus on your leg work in the pool. Be sure to call or check online for the pool hours in advance. The dressing room area is nice, clean & spacious, plenty of toilets, sinks, & shower stalls with dressing bench areas. There are a few curtained, "dry" dressing stalls, but they don't have a bench or stool in them to make dressing or putting shoes on a little easier. There is seating available in the private lockers area... you can bring your own lock or get a loaner at the front desk reception & sign-in area. There's also a small lounge area with a TV & some comfortable chairs.
Upstairs on the 2nd floor, there are exercise bikes, treadmills, elliptical machines, etc, surrounded by a rubberized(?) walking track that's 84 yards full circle so you can keep track of laps to measure your mileage. Oh yeah, some of the bikes have programmable screens, so you can "bike around in..." certain famous cities of the world...like in Paris, San Francisco, Miami, etc. Very cool, to say the least!!
I have only 2 minor complaints...
Naturally, the entire building is air-conditioned & on a warm/hot day, it's very welcome. However, in the dressing room, it's very unwelcome, especially if you're walking from the pool in a wet bathing suit & with wet hair! I'd recommend they turn the thermostat up at least 5 degrees OR completely close some of the A/C vents in that area...PLEASE! One thing is certain, that 65Β°-68Β° cold air blowing out of ALL the dressing area vents sure speeds up getting changed into your street clothes... Brrrrrrr!!
My other suggestion is to the Y's management specifically. All of the staff at the reception/sign-in desk are definitely well trained to be friendly & very polite. However, there seems to be a shortage of staff throughout the rest of the building. It would be nice when a new member comes there for at least the first couple of times (like we did that day), if someone on the staff would be sure to show them around & give some basic instructions on how to properly use the various equipment! At the very least, it would be helpful if there were some staff people who didn't just stand behind the desk but actually walked around & stopped to offer new members advice or help about using the equipment (you know, little "minor" details such as... "How do I turn it on?" for example!) For a Beginner, the equipment can be downright intimidating... especially if you have NEVER used any of it before. New members shouldn't have to go hunt down staff or bother other members nearby with questions. To walk in for the very first time & not have anyone available for any questions or concerns or "pointers" is really quite discouraging for someone trying to start a new health routine. But, even with that said, Hubs & I will be back.

I do really like this gym and there is a lot to offer! I do wish they had a separate adult pool. The showers are nice, although there's always a couple with flies or algae. The end of the day/ week mildew that builds up in the locker rooms is noticeable. There's been stool on the floors or bathrooms stalls that can go a day or two without being cleaned, and they don't regulate smoking on the premises, even when brought forth.
Overall, the equipment and facilities are pretty good considering it's a small town. 3.5 out of 4 for me

If youβre not apart of the swim team donβt count on them caring about you. Been going here for months and for some reason today everything changes. Paid $15 to swim and didnβt even get to get in because the staff doesnβt know the rules or hours of operations either. People need to get on the same page. I have been here off and on for 4 years, through teenage years to adulthood. I love this facility, as they have quite literally everything you could ever need and more, the YMCA sends such an amazing message too, accepting everyone regardless! Motivates me to pursue a healthy lifestyle. Locker rooms sauna and steam room have been out of order for longer than Iβd like but I am sure it is being worked on. Locker rooms are always in great, clean condition and a overall friendly atmosphere. Youβll have your occasional creepy guy look at you here and there, your occasional man that looks surprised a female can lift so much, and the people who donβt clean the equipment after use; but the facility and its staff stay on top of these issues. I would recommend the YMCA of KV to anyone, any family and any age. They truly do not discriminate, and they treat and accommodate our military branches beautifully! 10/10 for the YMCA.

Half the time the hot tub isn't working and most of the time the pool is taken up with swim meets. We started going to Nautilus because of it.

Been training here for a couple years. I work till 6 every evening. Tonight was my sons birthday, I enjoyed the evening with him and hauled the mill to the gym to get a quick lift in. Show up at 930, with plenty of time for a quick pump. Was told they close the doors at 9:30. I think your hours need changed on here, or updated. Very odd I trained till 10 a couple nights this week already. Drove all the way there to be turned around.
