Don’t recommend. They put me into a 2 year contract without making me aware and won’t let me cancel. Gym is dirty. Restroom tiles lifting posing as a tripping hazard. One bench to put shoes on is broken. Not one of the TVs work in treadmills. (Edit: TVs were removed after my review) Inconsistent staff, 3 or 4 trainers within a year. Gym is small often feels crowded. Especially during school year. My zone band they promote never works. Only reason I am giving it two stars is price comparable to other gyms and open 24 hours. Owner and staff are nice but I still can’t wait for the contract to be over. I wish it was as nice as Menomonie location but it’s just not. EDITED to note that if you decide to use cardio machines prepare to be stared at and harassed as windows face both sides and no blinds are offered. A friend reached out about blinds and got no response as now and it’s been over a month. In fact no matter where you are in the gym you can be watched from the outside of the gym due to windows surrounding gym. I should also note after writing my honest review the owner promptly texted me taking review rather personally but did not address concerns noted in my review. He did note $250 buy out to end contract. For now I will use my membership as I do not have money to throw away.

The good: hours and relatively similar in cost to other gyms in the area. Also very close to me in the grand ave area without having to go into downtown and deal with parking. There have been multiple staffing changes/new owner within the year + 3 months I have had a pass, but for the most part the trainers are and have been approachable and kind. When the current trainer started, she was very helpful when I couldn’t get anyone else to respond about cancelling the small group training classes.

The not so good: the gym is consistently pretty dusty and there are cobwebs in the windows and on some of the equipment. It’s a smaller gym so while they do fill up the space, IMO most of the machines appear to be pretty dated and they can’t fit some of the machines that other locations have like a glute kickback machine which I do miss. It’s often not busy later in the night, but the sidewalk that runs along the side of the building is pretty busy and if you are using an elliptical or treadmill be prepared to get stared at a lot. There have also been times where people walk by multiple times looking and it can feel unnerving to be there alone. I did email asking for blinds to be put up but haven’t received a response yet. Still holding out hope!

Overall, I generally feel dissatisfied with the condition of this gym. Having said that, I’m locked in on my two year contract and will continue to use it because it’s much closer to me than any other location.

Anytime or Land before time? I took pictures but not sure how to post on a review.
1. Pinched my foot on the bathroom tiles, about 15 are rocking loose.
2. There was a hieroglyphs of a soap dispenser, I'm sure it worked great back whenever eau clair was founded.
3. Good news is I always wondered what happened to my high school gym equipment from the early 90's....Found it, all of it.

For what we pay this location should be updated or closed, we will not be coming back. Do better.

I really like this gym and facility, but it is Impossible to get in touch with anyone once you've joined to cancel. You go in and there isn't any staff there. But call or email and never hear back, making it impossible to leave if you don't want to keep your membership for life.

Edit: after leaving a one star review for this gym, the owner reached out to me and shamed me into changing my review for the cancelation to be expedited. I had been trying to get in touch with the gym for a while to cancel, and the one star review was the only thing that got his attention and promoted a reach out. Albeit, an incredibly unprofessional and rude reach out. I’m still in shock that this is how business is conducted. Upon reading other reviews, it appears this is standard operating procedure. I did get my membership canceled, but didn’t feel like changing my review gave an accurate interpretation of how members might be treated if they decide to join (the point of online reviews)

Nearly impossible to cancel a membership here. Communication is completely lacking and blatantly unprofessional. Emailed AF in July 2024 to cancel a membership, continually charged twice a month for 29.99 until March of 2025. Eventually changed my debit card so they wouldn't have access to my account. On the phone with AF and was placed on hold for 45 minutes multiple times in an attempt to cancel this membership. Finally was able to reach someone named Johnathan from Eau Claire and was able to cancel my membership. Instead of being charged the buyout fee, or half of that, I am being charged $50 and finally cancelling my account. It was fairly easy to get the price down to $50 so it is my understanding that they use these big numbers to overwhelm people, and most people will end up paying the larger fee just to get the process over with. $500 later of months being charged after an attempted cancellation.

I will not be suggesting AF to anyone I know or care about.

When I was attending the gym I had a great experience. Love the staff and other customers. All staff had a very quick turnover rate and people didn't seem to stay working here due to the upper staff management.

Wish I'd looked at the reviews before signing up here... $34.99 biweekly, plus annual fees on top of that. My membership is supposed to expire tomorrow, I contacted them to cancel. They need 30 days notice, and I guess I may be subject to a $50 cancellation fee? The owner didn't mention it at all when I contacted to cancel. Water St location was the closest to where I live and there's barely anything there as far as strength training machines. One cable machine and not a lot of attachments for it either. Not worth the price.

Edit: Was originally 1 star which may be a little harsh. I did enjoy the club at some points, but the billing situation is just very frustrating. No hard feelings against the staff; I get that it's a chain and chains have their rules. But it's still pretty disappointing.

I have been going here for about a month. Stopped in at various times throughout the day and it’s never been too crowded. It's very clean and tidy, and it’s a smaller gym but I really like the layout. There is only one spot to deadlift but that makes sense given the size of the space. The staff have been friendly and welcoming too.

Jesus Christ. Unless you’re rich and dont care about them stealing money from you, don’t get a membership. Don’t even get a free trial. It’s not free. They stole $20 from me and never gave me a refund back even after I asked for months. I had it in writing that I cancelled my free trial before it was even complete but still, they took my money and never gave it back. They don’t care about their members or customers or building a good reputation, obviously.

This gym is horrible!!! Over charged me roughly $200 and it took a month to get refundedand i had to talk to multiple different people. I am still being charged for tanning and have come in 2 times now, during hours I was told would have management and there is no one. So I still cannot cancel my membership and I am still being charged. Go to any gym but here!!!

Make no mistake this is without a doubt a scam for college kids in the area looking for a conveniently placed gym. The per month charge is exorbitant and if you plan on canceling better pay up. With that being said the gym is fine but without a doubt has the most predatory pricing model of any gym I have ever seen. You are essentially paying double for less equipment and less space. If there are any other gyms you are thinking about going to choose anything but this place. The staff are very friendly for the record.

Signed a one year contract in Feb 2023. Froze my account nine months later as I had found better gyms available for half the price. Asked to have my membership cancelled after the freeze period expired. They’re sending a debt collection agency after me now😭. I would highly recommend against signing with this Gym. Right now they sent me to collections as I had moved to Kansas and the anytime location here closed shortly after I had arrived. While the gym itself was clean and nice it simply is not worth dealing with the legal hassle that they are wanting to put me through. I recommend going to Planet Fitness instead as they are far cheaper.

Called many times throughout the time I’ve had my membership and they never answer their phone. I’ve also tried to cancel my membership after getting into a car accident because I had to go to physical therapy and would not be using the gym. I was then told false information about freezing my account so now I honestly just can’t wait until my membership is done at the end of this year.

!!! SCAM !!! Please beware guys. This gym has a ton of hidden fees. They do not tell you about the cancellation fee. The contract may say open ended, but you can only cancel after paying a 50 dollar fee and proof that you are moving. Be careful. Scammers like this don’t tell you everything up front, but it is all written in the contracts. If you are within your 14 day grace period, I implore you to cancel. I will be reporting this company to the better business bureau. They need to have guidelines where a cancellation fee is disclosed.

Been loving being a member at Anytime! This location is the cleanest out of all of the Eau Claire locations I've tried, and I frequently see staff working to keep it that way. If you find the right hours that work with your schedule, the gym typically isn't too busy. Try to avoid the 5-6pm rush. Overall a great place to work out!

The machines were nice and the gym was clean, so that was a plus. However, when my workout partner and I went to cancel our membership due to the fact that we were unable to afford the high monthly cost, we were treated very poorly by one of the managers, Gillian. When we walked in the door for our cancellation appointment, we were greeted with a very cold stare from Gillian, as well as “I assume you are here to cancel?” When we said yes, she said “I figured. When people’s eyes glaze over during our first meeting to start a membership I assume it won’t stick.” I had been considering coming back to this gym once I was able to afford it but now I will certainly not be returning. I’m absolutely awestruck with how rudely we were treated. Unacceptable.

Nice amount of free weights and cardio equipment. The weight machines are limited but get the job done.

AF on Water St is definitely the best gym I've ever joined, hands down!! I like to workout late at night in the wee hours and this gym satisfies all my needs and demands since it has a big enough space and have all the adequate gym equipments. In addition, you can also opt to have weekly motivational messages from the staff to help you reach your fitness goals. Big shoutout to Cody, Paul, Kaylee and Lydia for providing the best customer service experience anyone could possibly offer. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who lives near the campus area. There are special student discount prices too, head over there to ask the friendly staff about it.

Wonderfull gym :)) I love how I dont miss out on enjoying the sunshine and inspiration from the flowing Chippewa River while Im gett'n on my fitness. Lydia n Paul are so supportive, kind and very knowledgeable, they run a good clean ship. They constantly have new members coming in, very attentive, great flow of vibrant n focused gym users. The gym is not expansive, though it has plenty of room to breathe with fanned-high ceilings n great layout; essentials of fitness are all there. My faves, battle ropes and a wood/cushioned lifting platform + 2 other spots for lifting:)) You'll Luv it! ^_^
