It’s been long enough now that I feel comfortable sharing our experience at this place. Our 4 year old daughter started at little ninjas, and initially we thought Mr. Chay was very nice. The classes were fun for our daughter and provided great exercise.
His demeanor changed immediately once she was moved up a level. She was put in with a large age range of kids. Once my daughter requested a bathroom break and she was berated in front of the entire class. Brand new student, and was humiliated for asking to go to the bathroom. No empathy or understanding whatsoever.
He would allow kids in later classes to show up early and horseplay in the dojo while class was still in session.
One time I accidentally showed up at the wrong time, totally my fault. He again humiliated my daughter in front of the entire class. After the class I talked to Mr. Chay and said how sorry I was that she was late. It was my fault and I told him it would never happen again. He hit me on the shoulder with his hand twice, two taps, and said “I know it won’t happen again because next time I won’t let her in the class if she’s late”. Some of the most unprofessional conduct I’ve ever come across in my life.
He pushed testing constantly, even for those who weren’t ready for it. And guess what? Testing costs more money! He would point at kids and say “YOU’RE TESTING, AND YOU’RE TESTING”. Every kid even though they were nowhere near ready to test.
I honestly can’t believe how he treats young children and how some parents just sit there and watch him scream and yell. I got my daughter out of there as fast as possible and I highly suggest you never send your kids here.

Located in an old commercial strip building with outside parking available. We recently heard that the frequent roof leaks (requiring several trash cans placed around to catch liquids leaking from the ceiling) are being repaired; this would be a welcomed improvement. Also, the place has some space for kids to practice, and a table with self serve coffee. They also have some chairs for those who need to wait while kids are in classes.

I am at Chay's TKD for a little over a year now. I am an adult coming back to martial arts after a long hiatus,, so I have a perspective from my experience training Korean martial arts from over 30 years ago.
Chay's teaches ITF style Tae Kwon Do, which is a traditional martial art (unlike, say, MMA). What that means is, you or your kids will learn Basic blocks, punches and kicks. You will learn to do it in drills on the floor, and progress to practicing against a heavy bag, paddles, and in partner drills, and eventually free sparring. And you will learn forms (sometimes known as Poomsae or Kata in other styles of TKD or Karate), which are a foundation of most if not all traditional martial arts (TKD, Karate, Kung Fu, etc).
If all this sounds like a lot, it is. But don't worry, Master Chay and his instructors will break it down for you so you don't get overwhelmed in the first couple of days.
If you are in the Mequon or Cedarburg area, you should give them a try. And if you are an adult and think you are too old or out of shape to try, or come back to martial arts, think again. I was over 50.when I signed up last year.

My Grandchildren have been in this program for the last 2 years- what a great program they are attending, Master Chay offers the ability for the students to attend classes at either location Mequon or Cedarburg . what has always amazed me is that for the number of students that attend, Master Chay and Mr. Chay NEVER FORGET A NAME! everyone is welcomed. I highly recommend this program (and I do all the time) to everyone I know!

Our family has been going to Chay's for a few years now. Master Chay is so great with kids of all ages (and encouraging to adults that are a little unsure of starting something new!) Great facilities and staff - would recommend to ANYONE!!!
